By the time my uncle and I made it over to 'The Yard' Mr. Tukufu had already sold most of his food, it had apparently been a very good day for him, understandably so. Nevertheless, we ordered some leg quarters and he kindly obliged despite appearing to be worn out from the long day. When we came back around to pick up the food I was shocked at the size and weight of the take out bag that was given to us. Mr. Tukufu had certainly hooked us up and when we got back to the hotel we had an absolute feast. I am confident in saying this was the best soul food I have ever had. You could tell it was made with love and sincerity. Thank you to Mr. Tukufu for being so generous, it was not lost on us. We look forward to seeing him again the next time we are in Salem. I looked at the picture of what I ordered vs what I got and all that I could do is laugh. The mango habanero sauce was mid and I've had better tasting fast food fries. The service was relatively quick and the person working the cart was pleasant. I will be avoiding this cart in the future and would recommend avoiding it until the portions and/or pricing are addressed.

One bite- all breading no chicken, and burnt up. One bite- the whole thing falls apart and you're left with chicken meat that's half the size of what you ordered. The waffles? Mixed with sawdust, that thing was dryer than the Gobi Dessert. Horrid food, would not reccomend at all. The fries were solid though, I just can't in good conscience rate it anymore than a 1 due to the horrid chicken and waffles.

Ok, now for the review. I ordered the Hula Chicken which was fabulous! The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked, the sauce was abundant, the steamed rice was just right and the macaroni salad was spot on. I have no idea if these dishes are actually "Hawaiian" but I thought the food was good. I also ordered one piece of spam musubi which was a great disappointment. I had been craving some musubi and was delighted to find it on their menu but the spam needed to be grilled or fried just a tad longer and the seaweed wasn't as crispy as I thought it should be. It was quite underwhelming. The little food cart pod that this cart is located in had nice outdoor seating as well as an indoor building with a bar. Unfortunately, there is no coffee cart.
