Lovely on-campus spot for a sweet treat, caffeinated pick-me-up, or quick bite! It's a campus institution for a reason, with their friendly staff, ample seating, and reasonable menu prices. They have plenty of cozy indoor seating (including large tables for big group study sessions, individual tables or counters for more focused self-study sessions or smaller 1:1 catch-ups, and couches for yapping), as well as a good number of outdoor tables for a nice day. I have yet to try their actual food, but both their coffee and treats are solid. The latte is quite tasty, and less than $4 for a latte with a non-dairy milk is pretty unheard of anywhere else in Palo Alto. My favorite sweet treat is their white chocolate ube cookie, which is absolutely massive and quite decadent -- the perfect fuel for a long day of working / studying. read more

Great cafe spot ! I'm glad that there is one in this building. The cafe is spacious and clean! Great spot to study or to sit down and chat. They have both breakfast and lunch options as well as drinks! I am a of their Havana latte! Super creamy and balanced well! It is sweet but not too sweet given they pit condense milk in it. It is even better than other coffee shops! Also for their salmon and asparagus risotto. Wow I did not expect it to be delicious! Not runny or mushy at all. It is $15 but it's worth it! I love this place! I've found it purely random but it turned out to be a very cozy spacious student place. On the one hand it is a coffee place with donuts and pastries, on the other hand you can get beer and really interesting variations of sandwiches (mine was called "New Yorker" and I had meatballs in it!) or even pasta. I've also noticed the covered piano, so probably they have some evening events from time to time. The place is located in the heart of Stanford community, so many people there were working, chatting and just enjoying. The ambience is another unique and cool thing here: pictures on the walls with the famous Stanford students, interesting tables. This place has its vibe! The staff is friendly and caring. You can get water, add milk to your drink or choose to-go option easily. They accept wireless transactions. There's a good coffee machine. The prices were reasonable. My large cappuccino was $4 + tax. I truly enjoyed my visit and would recommend this place for meetings, working, studying. read more

Stanford's very own cafe which is very popular with its students. Come here if you're in the area and want a place for a bite to eat and soak in some college atmosphere. They have nice loungey sofas and even a piano! You can also sit on the benches outside and the good thing is they serve in actual cutlery instead of plastic containers. They have an excellent collection of sandwiches, bagels, pastas, risottos and burgers. They also have coffee and tea and hot chocolate etc. I went during lunch time and wasn't sure if the meat was halal. So I ordered a vegan chilli with quinoa. It was really delicious and spicy ! It tasted like rajma chawal and the chilli had three different types of beans. The portion size was decent but the price was costly for 9$. The cheapest sandwich was around 8.50. I also had a small cappuccino which cost me around 4.50$ but was not very strong. For the price it should have been more robust. Service was friendly and quick. Update: the mushroom burger was not good, but the mushroom sandwich was tasty. Wish they gave fries on the side apart from the salad. The pasta with vegetables was kind of bland. I was in the area this past week to visit a new client in Palo Alto. Decided to park by Tressider and then wander around White Plaza (major construction going on...) and check in at the bookstore. Walked by the Coffee House and realized I needed something cold to drink with a caffeine kick for my upcoming client meeting. My medium iced Mexican mocha with oat milk was perfect, service was fast and friendly. Enjoyed briefly revisiting my memories of many late night study sessions in the Coffee House (and playing a very early version of Asteroids) when I was a student here in the mid-'70s. Coffeehouse is a cozy coffee shop in Tresidder Union, located in the heart of Stanford. They offer all sorts of unique foods from their menu, from meals to pastries to snacks to unique drinks. For example, I've gotten Mexican hot chocolate there, which is a hot chocolate that is semi sweet (less sweet than regular hot chocolate, and also has hints of cinnamon! I really enjoyed that - its great for warming you up in chillier weather. They also have mango lassis, and also saw that they had refreshers, which are perfect for the summer! The mango lassi was also perfectly made with its consistency and sweetness - just what I needed on a hot day!!! In addition to serving excellent food, Coffeehouse has attracted many students and passersby to make the shop their go to study and socializing spot! It has the perfect ambiance for working, and the decor is very unique and understandably Stanford-themed. For example, there are hand drawn pictures of famous Stanford alum on the walls. Our friend the long-time Stanford alumni got us coming here years ago and though there are other dining spots nearby, when we are here we stop at CoHo. It truly looks like a college hangout. We bike there and like to sit outside, very casual. They make tasty breakfast sandwiches and have a full range of baked goodies. I haven't had much else, but they offer smoothies and sandwiches too. Really solid spot! I was visiting the Stanford campus to speak on a panel and wanted to go to a spot where I could get some work done before heading to the airport. A friend suggested I come here. I had a chai spice tea with some cold soy and a salted chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was super duper delicious. All the pastries looked delicious! They had some cool ones like Japanese cheesecake and black sesame mochi cake. My only qualm about this place is the lack of accessible outlets, but oh well. A review from a girl who is not a Stanford loyalist: I like Coho. I like the traditional coffeehouse vibes, with comfy sofas to hang out, or a quiet spot to study alone. They have bands and events occasionally, with a popular open mic night. I watched the NBA finals here. I have come here many times in the last year. I would say my favorite items are their delicious fresh salads. Especially, the athenian with lots of beets and goat cheese crumbles. Their bakery items are so-so. Hit or miss. The only other entree type item i had was a pesto pasta, decent. Now, i know they have a big focus on coffee drinks. Not to be a coffee snob...but its not great. Definitely crying for sugar and cream. Most of the time i just get a water glass,I must admit! Coho is definitely worth a stop for all students & staff:) read more

I hate to do this but I think I got food poisoning from the chia seed pudding here, My friend and I both got a chia seed pudding and it was tasty and we both finished them (that's all we've eaten today) and we've both never felt so sick after. I almost threw up in target and our tummies hurt so bad, tums barely helped. So sad because I love coho and it's probably not their fault but DONT get the chia seed pudding or prepare to feel like shit :( usually the food is great, I think these puddings are made somewhere else and they just carry them, I just wanted to leave this review so y'all would know not to get it. Good food, amazing ambience, slightly pricier than other food options nearby. CoHo is a popular lunch spot & cafe in Stanford's Tresidder Union. Many students use it as a study spot too, so the indoors are always busy. Luckily, there's plenty of outdoor seating too. Today, I had their vegan chili and a kale mojito. The vegan chili came in an overflowing bowl with a large scoop of quinoa in the middle. Definitely a more generous portion than what I had remembered! It contains corn and few different types of beans. It's seasoned perfectly and it's not spicy at all. The kale mojito is always a great choice. Full of nutrients and perfectly balanced such that you actually enjoy drinking it. I only wish it wasn't as expensive. Those two items costed me $19+ before tip. Employees are friendly and nice, but they'll move quickly because typically there's a line. Some employees wear masks, while others don't. It's a counter service restaurant (same as all places on campus), so you need to go back and pick up your food once it's ready. read more

Good ol' reliable place to get lunch on campus. Pros: reliable menu with some generic options. I always get the pasta bolognese with meatballs or the chicken mushroom creamy pasta. Yes, I'm pretty sure it's just sauce from a jar, some processed meat and pasta but it gets the job done. Some nice little desserts (coconut milk chia pudding!) and specialty drinks (kale mojito, horchata but I feel like they're always out, coffee drinks) Nice coffeehouse atmosphere, chill place to hang out, hold happy hour Cons: A little overpriced for what it is. Pastries, pasta, desserts - everything is a bit more for what it is, compared to GCC in EV which I guess serves the dirty, unwashed masses of poor grad students like me (and I'm ok with being that - GCC is a great deal food wise most of the time). Everything is old and the sofas are cracked and probably older than me. Probably still here for the character. Crowded. I feel like everytime I'm here I eat at the short strip of counter near the soda machines. My boyfriend and I love finding new cafes to try, we look for great coffee, food and vibes. This is the place. We've been here twice so far and it has easily become our favorite coffee shop in the area. The barista (who was amazing btw!) shared the most popular drinks and I went with the Horchata Latte and the Havana Latte, and all I have to say is I was beyond satisfied with those choices. Service is super fast. For food, we shared a Parma panini, which was good but not my hype. I really appreciated how the sandwich comes with a side of salad, so it was a light snack. I also tasted my boyfriends banana bread which was yummy and dense. I personally got an M&M cookie which was moist in the middle, crispy on the edges, gigantic and just perfection as desert! Budget friendly for my grad student budget lol. CoHo in Tressider Memorial Union is a super casual place to study or get a quick bite--like most college campus food, there's nothing particularly special about it, though it's certainly convenient and relatively affordable. On my most recent visit, I tried the warm and crispy Agricola panini (with mushrooms and cheese) and the kale salad with farro, slivered almonds, dried apricot, and blueberries, all tossed in an acidic vinaigrette. The salad was definitely a nice, crunchy combination of fresh ingredients, though the flavor was a bit overwhelmed by the sourness of the dressing. 20 year frequent Coho customer as student , parent and visiting alumni. Last night, Indifferent staff, dirty counter and tables, and $10 for a bowl of warm tomato soup that would have lost a taste test to a can of campbell soup. Last night Coho hit an all time low. Plenty of staff, but noone wanted to take my order as they were talking to each other for five plus minutes. When I put in my order and walked to a table , the filth and waste on the floor was hard to miss. I checked out four tables before I found one that was sort of clean. I waited another ten minutes as I watched the lone chef staff pull the order tag and put the warm not hot soup in a bowl. Why not put up a sign that says Coho is open but we don't want to be bothered . Lots of good memories at Coho. I hope this was just and one off night. read more

This review is going to be a little stale, but bear with me. I spent four years at Stanford, and during that time, I probably stopped into the CoHo a good number of times. It was a great spot to meet up with friends, classmates, and professors, for purposes social and educational and maybe other (I can't think of a single other). Everyone knew where it was, and it had that very Stanfordian abbreviated name. The decor was pleasant, even moody for a college coffee house, and I enjoyed that cheerfully artsy ambiance. The venue hosted the occasional band. I never liked the food. I will admit, five years out, that I don't remember the food very well at all. I believe I once ate a weird savory crepe, but I'm surprised that tidbit decided to stick around in my memory. I might have had a wrap or two, maybe a cookie here or there. For the most part, if I was eating near Tressider, I was getting a teriyaki bowl from Treehouse or a Jamba Juice or a Subway sandwich. I was no undergraduate gourmand, but I did not like CoHo. Maybe it was too fancy for me at the time? Who even knows. I stopped by the CoHo during my five-year reunion, to meet with a professor I have always adored. We sat at a table that held the remains of the previous occupants' lunch for most of our stay. I didn't order anything, and that, at least, was not a problem. I had a good time catching up with my professor, and I appreciated that we had this easy, relaxed place to meet. I don't have a ton of nostalgic affection for the CoHo, but it serves its purpose reasonably well. I'm sure it will keep serving students for many years to come. read more
