If I could leave a good update every time I get coffee from here, I probably would! Today was especially exceptional. I ordered a 12 ounce honey latte and it was so delicious. I know I ordered a very simple latte but you know when you can just tell the espresso is good quality and it doesn't taste burnt. That's how it was today. It was so good. I'd been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while and finally stopped in and I'm so glad I did! The staff was super sweet and welcoming. I wasn't sure what to order at first, but they had this really fun mix-and-match book of iced coffees to choose from. This is probably my favorite coffee in Watsonville hands down! The coffee is really rich, and I really appreciate that. I guess if you prefer more watered down coffee than any other location in Watsonville would be fine. This environment is comfortable and cozy unlike another pretentious coffee shop in town. The staff are always really friendly, and it does get busy during rush hours. I really enjoy the breakfast options specifically because I like egggs a lot. Ordered a honey hazelnut flavored frappacino ($6). It's got a really intense nutty, smooth flavor, and the coffee taste pulls through just as equally. Such a unique taste! Even after all my ice melted, the taste of the coffee and honey hazelnut were strong enough it was like drinking a regular sweetened coffee, not some diluted bean water. Coffeeville is a wonderful example of the high quality coffee I am accustomed to buying whenever I am in the Santa Cruz/Monterey Bay Area. It's true, when in the area the first thing I do is hit a coffee shop. Years ago I went to this roaster when it was located in downtown Santa Cruz, and when I discovered it now housed in The East Lake Village area (in Watsonville) it was a happy surprise. Why move from a prime location? Like many locals, they got priced out with unreasonably high rents. Luckily for those in the Watsonville area, the team has landed in a small venue, and have been in the process of expanding into the next building. Plans for creating a larger venue with additional food options is on the horizon. For now, it's in a smaller storefront, but truthfully they could be serving coffee out of a wheelbarrow and I still would buy! I have tried an amazing Americano, a deeply flavorful chai tea latte, an iced decaf latte, iced chai tea with delicious cinnamon notes, and several cups of the morning brew. Nothing is basic here, everything they roast, brew, create, or bake is top notch! I also love the little condiment bar, which includes soy milk, agave and stevia in addition to the normal items to doctor your drinks. The beans they roast and brew are phenomenal- none of the burnt or charred flavor that some have, just a smooth, velvety richness. Espresso or drip, it doesn't matter, it is all rich and creamy. They do sell the beans by the pound, and I highly recommend taking some home. On my wish list for the next time I am in town, is the vanilla lavender latte and another iced chai tea. They brew the chai for 12-24 hours...it is sublime. The owners and staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their products and were even open on Christmas morning last year...they understand coffee addicts! This is the best coffee I've had in a LONG time! The syrups were what caught my eye and they didn't disappoint. I got an iced latte with hot buttered rum and a hot silver bells latte which had Irish cream, blueberry and vanilla syrups. They were so good that I purchased a third coffee to go. Just little hunks of sage in a giant mountain of eggs. These folks love coffee. So the drinks are great, and if you're grabbing a cream cheese bagel, or sweets go for it. It's a cute location and they're trying they have a good atmosphere, the thing is that their coffees are a hit or miss I've had a great lavender cold coffee and I craved it went again the next time and it wasn't the same. Not sure if it was the person making it but definitely tasted different. The French toast cold brew doesn't taste like French toast it's a bummer too.
