Made a quick stop at this coffee shop after running an errand in the neighborhood. Not that I am super familiar with all the businesses located in this shopping center (The Shops at Northfield to name it exactly), I certainly missed this quaint coffee shop when I was here for the moving watching etc. I had done. Or is this place brand new where it started to exist after I had been here most recently? It was a little before 8:40am. As most shops don't open until 10am or so, nobody was around on the 46th Street; the coffee shop was thus empty. I got the guy's undue attention upon entering. Cute wall decors, some tables with chairs for people to sit down, nice open bar with a display of sweets and savory are what I noticed. The drink menu (which I didn't take a picture of) is not massive but has got a good selection, all ordinary stuff. I went with my usual: doppio. I also got me one of the baklavas which I saw where all the baked goods are. The tray full of baklavas was on top of the showcase with a lid on it. Looked nicely brown and flaky. Would be a nice mid-morning snack to eat along with my doppio. The guy was efficient. After I placed my order, it was a matter of a minute or two before he handed me the two items. I was the only customer (like I said) but he was super fast. The charge was about $10 for both items. Upon glancing at the electronic receipt, I realized that the baklavas are $7. A bit pricey I thought but they are a good size. Not bad... At home, I enjoyed both of them after my breakfast. I added some almond milk and half and half in my doppio which tasted nice and bitter (for this reason, people think that I drink like the Italians; they do like strong espresso.) The baklava was so filling. The flaky layers stack on top of each other were perfected. The sweetness was just right. For this size/portion, I guess $7 makes sense; the money worth spent for.

What with pool season coming up and the fact that I felt like sh!t, I decided it was about time for…read morea juice cleanse. I had recently gotten a discount code through an event I had attended and thought that I would give Breen Juice a whirl. (Yes, I'm from California so these silly green drinks that look like a lawn threw up in a bottle are something I am very familiar with.) so I ordered two five day cleanses, one for me and one for my baby daddy because we do both need to get our systems back on track. Too much boozing and junk food on our trip to San Antonio.... and ok I'll be honest in daily doses too. I can make juice on my own and have many times. But collecting all the materials, then juicing, then the clean up is a pain in my arse so this was totally worth the money because I knew I'd be cranky enough not eating. They offer free delivery to your home which is a bonus. In LA, we had the option of free delivery, but the place was not all organic juice and this is. After a small snafu of my order getting lost (some lucked out and ended up with my order) my cleanse was delivered, with a few samples of other flavours as well to apologize for the mix up. Great customer service. Bottles can be left out on the porch if you are a good human and want to upcycle. I ran mine through the dishwasher and then put them out and emailed Kelly to have someone pick them up. The juice was great. I personally like more greens, less apple, but my husband loved the ratio. We got half of our order on one day (since she rushed us whatever she had at the moment because of the delay/mixup) but as she checked in on me, and asked me how I liked them I happened to mention that it was a little sweeter than I'm used to, she switched some of the normal greens out to her less apple green juice and it was just the way I make it. Kelly let me know that they can customize flavours based on your palette and that is great! Totally nice personal touch! So I highly suggest this company if, like me, you don't want to deal with the hassle of making your own juice. Because hey, life is way too short to stand around waiting for lawns to vomit.

Great juice, gets you the rejuvenating / detox feeling you typically want. super friendly ownerread more
