I'm a Delray Beach local and just love this place. Luckily, there are still places like this near the Ave in DB, but they do seem to be slowly disappearing as new, high-end restaurants continue to move-in and masonry modern buildings pop-up everywhere. There's nothing wrong with this, I'm just stating a fact. Delray Beach's booming development is a good problem to have, but there has to be a balance if you want to preserve the character and the town's touted "Village by the Sea" motto. The Coffee District resides in a Florida Vernacular small building across from the Cannery Row town homes where agents and home buyers descend if there's ever a home for sale, which is rare. It serves all your favorites coffee drinks, offers sandwiches and empanadas from local restaurants, but also has a small intimate bar with beer, wine, and mixed drinks, where you can leisurely sip on a beer, chat with others, and watch sporting events on the overhead TV (mostly soccer). You can comfortably sit inside on a super hot South Florida summer day. There's also a few outside sidewalk tables with umbrellas, benches, and a mini cushioned couch with a coffee table, where you can sit and feel un-rushed. This part of NE Second Ave is not as busy as others, but you will encounter many people walking their dogs and electric carts, fancy sedans, motorcycles and mopeds and muscle cars passing by (hopefully not the ones with the obnoxious, ear-drum popping, gurgling exhausts, who likes that?). The Argentinian chorizo, cheese and egg empanada was fantastic. Definitely worth the ten minute wait to heat up in the oven for a nice lightly charred crust and melted cheese. They offer four others like truffle mac & cheese, puller beer birria, buffalo chicken and carne. Excellent selection of semi-rare beers with many bomber style bottles. The ambiance was similar to an old beer tavern in Brussels Belgium. On the 1st Monday of each month is Bottle Share Day. Customers can bring in and show off there favorite beer or wine for sharing with others and purchase one beer or wine from the shelf. This local coffee bar is so awesome a ton of Locals come here! the coffee is phenomenal. The staff is polite, courteous, and prompt.. It's got a great atmosphere plus plenty of workstations if you need to bring your laptop and have a nice cappuccino. They also have beautiful pastries, and empanadas. Needed a coffee shop to camp in and get some admin work done while my fiancé was getting tatted in a nearby tattoo shop and conveniently this is next door to it! Got the Almond Kiss Latte, which I was told is similar to the flavor of an Almond Joy but with dark chocolate. Funny how I'm not really into the Almond Joy candy but I love that combination of flavors so I got it with soy milk and it was yummy! I must add, I did ask to not make it too sweet (someone else wrote here on Yelp that her chai latte is too sweet and I'm very sensitive to sugar) and it's the perfect sweetness to my palette! Enough to taste the awesome flavor combination but also enough to taste the actual caffeine. Free Wi-Fi available! Definitely much needed because my cellular data was in and out here in this area. Also helpful to get some of my work done too! I did have to omit one star because literally ALL the chairs with cushion are ripped up. I wore shorts and have sensitive skin so rubbing up against the broken pleather would not be good on my legs. But luckily there are some other seating options with no cushions. Maybe it's OK to have one or two messed-up chairs but when majority of them have very noticeable breaks/tears, it's just not a good look to have poorly maintained chairs on the floor. The Coffee District is located in the Pineapple Grove area of Delray Beach off of Atlantic Avenue. The name Pineapple Grove references the pineapple farms that dotted Delray Beach in the early 1900's. Pineapples were the main crop of the area and canning plants were built to process the fruit. Today the Grove is a mixture of condominiums, restaurants, a gym, boutiques, galleries, spas, and salons. I was in the area in need of a java fix and since I am not a fan of the chains I like to seek out the independent coffee shops. I found Coffee District on Yelp and popped in to check them out. Parking is down a narrow alley behind the shop. The Coffee District was founded by a family of Korean immigrants over a decade ago and has since become a local favorite. This is one of your hybrid alcohol on one side and coffee on the other incarnations that I have been running into lately. I love that you can caffeinate up or wind down depending on your mood. Although you might not guess it from the name, Coffee District always has 18 craft beers on tap and 100 more in bottles. In addition to drinks, they serve a menu of light bites which includes empanadas, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. They are also known for their seven layer carrot cake and dirty chai, chai tea with a shot of espresso. At night they have karaoke. You order at the counter for the food and coffee. They have a bar opposite the counter for the beer. Once your coffee and food is ready, they call you to pick it up. While I love the location and what they are trying to offer here, unfortunately I didn't have the best experience. The guy handling the orders was out of his depth. The ladies before me ordered a lot of fancy drinks with specific instructions and he was lost. By the time he got to me he was flustered and I was greeted with "are you going to order a lot of drinks too?" I chose the District Mocha Latte iced and a bacon and cheese croissant. I was presented with a hot drink and a breakfast sandwich that had been nuked in a microwave. I offered to take the coffee as it was but he insisted on putting ice in it. Unfortunately the cup he used was too small and it melted the ice right away leaving a drink that was neither hot or cold, just unpalatable. The sandwich was not much better. This is a nice little spot a few block east of Pineapple Grove in Delray. Lots of tables and chairs if you want to grab a coffee and get work done, as well as a bar. I've been there when the same person is doubling as barista and bartender so service can be a little slow, but they have $3 iced coffee which is a crazy great price. They are also open for lunch and late night . Lots of coffees to choose from, and serves pasties and snacks. The most intriguing thing they have is a cool little bar, specializing in Belgium beers. Taps and bottles. Can't wait to go and sample a couple of beers , before I head to a show at the Arts Garage. Have stopped in here twice and have enjoyed believe it or not their beer selection. They have a great mix of Belgians in bottles and a good variety of styles on tap. I enjoyed a Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter on tap with my lunch and a Founders KBS for dessert. The ladies in our group had wine and our overall everyone enjoyed the beer and wine varieties. Food wise the menu is not very extensive. We had a mix of salads and I had the California Club which was a panini with swiss, turkey, ham, bacon, tomatoes, avocado & zesty honey mustard dressing. It was decent and the service was nice and prompt. The pricing was a little on the high side but given the area not too bad. My discovery of Coffee District came about when I did a search online for the best places to get some unique and hard to find beers. Almost every top 10 list for the South Florida, Palm Beach County or Tri-County areas included Coffee District. At first I thought my eyes were deceiving me or that an error must've been made; but no, it's Spot-On.... WELCOME TO BEER (and coffee) HEAVEN.... CIGAR CITY TAP TAKEOVER (May 18 2013): My first visit welcomed me to the Cigar City Tap Takeover with a few friends. Very excited to check out the "Oatmeal Raison Cookie" that Cigar City was unveiling. Turns out our friend ahead of us got the last glass but things worked out well since I took a sip of it and frankly I didn't love it. Ended up ordering "Graham Cracker"... HUGE WIN. The place was busy but we managed to score a table and we enjoyed a good time with friends and a plate of hummus. COFFEE BREAK (June 22, 2013): After dinner one night in the area, we bumped into a friend and our paths led us back here to enjoy some quiet time to chat and enjoy some coffee. So far I had only heard oohs and ahhs over the beer selection and not much regarding the coffee; but the coffee was quite impressive. The Karaoke host called out the name for the next "wanna-be" singer and this guy enters the front door with full-on 1970s Elvis attire. When the song ended, the Elvis impersonator walked out the door and left, and just like that "ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING" TASH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION (August 23, 2013): Came a bit before the birthday girl made her entrance and jumped into a bottle of Fantôme Boo! (always nice to get the jump on the guest of honor). Once the birthday girl and other friends arrived the Karaoke dragged all of our group (except me) to the stage. Highlight of the night was Natasha, Lena and Marisol doing their rendition of "Like A Virgin"... a song they chose to be "MORE WHOLESOME" since there were a few young kids in the house... WAY TO GO LADIES, WAY TO GO ! ! ! On this night we drank a lot (maybe even too much), but it was the night full of good times. GENERAL VISITS: Beside those special visits, I have been back a few times to try a variety of the beers and that selection is no lie; quite the beer list. Each time I visit I find more and more hard-to-find bottles (mid-August I found a variety Mikkeller, Jolly Pumpkin and the Bruery). And the prices seem fair (not cheap, but fair). I've also managed to try a couple more coffee concoctions and turns out their coffee is just as impressive as the beer. Last visit I fell in love with Iced Raspberry Mocha. And even managed to grab a meal here a couple times. Lite bites and salads are good and the Panini's are excellent but it's the coffee and beer that make Coffee District distinct. I don't sing - but I sure like to drink while I watch/record my friends "singing". I came here for Karaoke night so it might not be the same experience the day to day customers have but I'm pretty sure all these things remain the same: Great beer, great coffee and the best impulse buy: mini Toblerone bars! I was here with a fairly large group of friends. With most places it's all about the group you are with - it didn't seem as though there were that many folks not with our group - but then again this place isn't too big, so even if we hadn't been there I'm sure the folks that looked like "regulars" would still be a ton of fun. The music selections were varied - from Hip Hop to Pop - to classic rock. Good times. I stuck to beer all night and they had a really good variety of craft beers on tap - and a great bottle selection as well. The wife was having coffee and she loved it. I eventually got her to sip on a cider - I'm not much of a cider guy but this one was really great. Parking is simple - there's a lot right behind the shop - but that one will likely be packed. If you continue through the lot you will see another lot in the back. It's free to park back there and very well lit. Last but certainly not least - what awesome staff! They were taking orders, picking up glasses, when things spilled (and they did often lol) they were right on it! Always with a smile - and super friendly. I look forward to coming back on regular hours and checking out what kind of coffee house vibe they have - been meaning to get out to more places to crack open my laptop and work. OH and how could I forget - they have mini Toblerone (chocolate bars) right next to the register - and they are possibly THE BEST impulse buy ever. I like Coffee District. I don't love it. I feel bad because I see all of my friends love it, but you know, I'm ok with being different. Coffee District, first and foremost is definitely not your average coffee shop. At least I've never been able to get wasted and/or sing karaoke at a coffee shop before? You know, that I definitely enjoyed. Every Friday they hold karaoke from 8p-12am when they close. The drink menu, while being beer, wine, and coffee is very robust. You can get a multitude of different things throughout your visit. Open a tab and have at it! I had the hummus plate and an iced tea. The hummus was great. Only bad part was my cucumber had been in the fridge too long and had those weird clear circular spots on them which sucked. I could never tell if the girl who waited on me liked me or wished I never walked into the building. Sometimes super helpful and others I felt like I was bothering the heck out of her which wasn't a great feeling to have. It was busy that night so maybe that was why? The interior of this place is cool. It's a coffee shop so it's not large. It has that kind of vibe to it, but not so chill where you can't have a good time. We were looking for a coffee shop to have a coffee and sit and work for a couple of hours, found the place on Yelp, and it was just 2 blocks from where we were so that was perfect.. but we didn't read reviews or look at pictures. We walked in and much to our surprise there's a beer bar on the left.. Beer?!? In a coffee shop?! Yup! Not what I expected at all.. It was already 4pm and as much as I needed a coffee pick me up.. I instead opted for a glass of IPA! Turns out it was happy hour.. so double down on that! A couple hours of working later, and I did get an espresso before heading to a happy hour networking event. Dusty! It's soo dusty in there. This place is great. I been here several times. But, the thing I took away is the insane amount of dust at the place. I was seating at the table and noticed it floating. The coffee, lattes, and other beverages are decent here. I haven't tried the food, so, I can't speak on it. People seem to enjoy the food here. This place is too hyped. The seating is kind of erratic. This place seems to have lot of locals, which is good. Well, huge thanks to Marisol F. for putting together a fantastic UYE here for us to experience karaoke on a Friday night. Karaoke started promptly at 8pm and ended when Coffee District kicked us out at 8pm. So here's the thing....coffee is not my thing, and although I enjoy a nice tea and deli style food, I wouldn't be coming out of my way from Fort Lauderdale to Coffee District - but if I lived in Delray I would be all over this place, because the prices are great and the atmosphere is nice. Here's the other thing.... it's also a bar!! Ok, so you still have that deli feel to the atmosphere, but they do have craft beers and wines. And wines are cheap!! I'm talking like $20 a bottle cheap, so boy did we have fun lol. And here's the last thing...I've done karaoke before. The last time we were in the mix with some professionals, and although we had an amazing time, I still felt as though those professionals weren't loving my Spice Girls act. This time however the other singers were great, but I didn't feel as though the vibe was as pretentious and they were actually loving watching me make a fool of myself. So yes...this is a perfect spot to drink some wine with friends and have a few laughs while singing your heart out! The karaoke system was different from what I've seen in the past, but still very easy to set up an account and pick your song. I wonder if my account some how has a score associated with how well I did? LOL hmmm maybe I'm pulling some rank on a karaoke list somewhere ;) I did get hungry part of the way through my fabulous singing (I believe they stop serving food around 10pm) and ordered a caprese salad. The caprese portion (mozz and tomatoes) came over iceberg lettuce and with a balsamic drizzle that was heaven. For less than $7 this was perfect! As often as I go to Delray Beach, and as often as I usually try many intimate places some distance off Atlantic Avenue, which there are many, I must sincerely thank Marisol for planning this great night at a NEW place I never tried but seemed to be the typical intimate, casual and chill place to hang out in Delray. Not typical with any similarities to other places, but typical in the "style of Delray" that is offered in so many places. And Marisol picked a fun way to make a great first impression of Coffee District; Friday night Karaoke!!! Coffee district is really something different in that it offers everything to everybody different times of the day. It is a great superb coffee house that I would frequent if I lived in Delray, with so many coffee, espresso and tea variations. At the same counter, they serve sandwiches, paninis, soups and desserts. The crazy thing that makes this different, is that it has a fairly large bar within this coffee shop that serves a small variety of wines, and exceptional craft beers which have never tasted so good. They have a whole display of their unusual craft beers which would entice any beer drinker to chose something different and enjoy it with one of their great sandwiches or even their gourmet desserts. The atmosphere is casual and inviting as you enter, and the staff is really lose and there to just let you have a good time. We got to Coffee District a little early and ordered a California Panini to share and a couple glasses of wine. It did not take long for us to figure out that the mood was picking up as more of our great Yelp friends were arriving,, thus THE BOTTLE was ordered. Great price for a nice bottle of Rosenblum Cabernet. Marisol had tables reserved for us if we needed to sit and talk, eat and drink, but quickly as the night went on, it was clear that we all had too good of a time to just sit and drink; time to get our chance to do what we all do best: SING!!!! The Karaoke had begun. There was a lot of talent between us, and as the night went on, there was even MORE talent. The Karaoke was well organized and everyone got their chance to show what they are made of. What was so great, was that their was a special surprise appearance: THE SPICE GIRLS. I thought they broke up, but there they were, all sharing the microphones blasting out a song they never wrote, a Whitney Houston song. Go figure. I really loved watching them have so much fun. The Karaoke area was perfect for all he Spice Girls and for several duets and single vocalists. As the night went on, the songs kept coming, and all of different genres and from different times. What I thought was so great was the diversity of ages between all of the Yelp BPB people and therefore the different types of music people chose. And we all cheered each other on,, even if we were off key,,,like who cared??? It was only US. I must say that if there was any night that showed how special the Yelp BPB people are, it was this one. This was not a "sit down" dinner, a food event, but an event that showed the diversity of Yelp BPB that can all have a good time together in what could be for others an uncomfortable thing to do: sing in front of others. Yes the alcohol helps, but we all clearly wanted to spend a great time together on a fun Friday night, singing, talking and laughing. Marisol, thank you for giving me another perspective of what we are all about. This was something really different. We will go back on another Friday night, but it would never be the same, unless of course you plan another event like this. read more

A few years ago I found Panther Coffee in Wynwood (Miami) during Second Saturday Art Walk and immediately after that I kept trying to find a good coffee shop in Boca Raton/Delray Beach area. Not that I don't like Starbucks but I wanted better. My guy was always on the search for good beer places and he told me about this place called Coffee District. He said he didn't know what it was because the name Coffee District makes you think coffee shop but every "best beer places" lists have Coffee District on it. So I decided to give it a try one day when I was in the area (a few blocks from Atlantic Avenue). The menu was simple but still had a great selection to choose from and I ended up getting a Vanilla Chai Latte with almond milk. Sooo Yummy! And those lists that kept saying how impressive their beer selection is where so right. The bottle list has tons of common craft beers but is also loaded with some really good beers and some hard to get beers too. And the list of beers on tap is really impressive too. And if that wasn't enough beer already, they have plenty of bottles on their shelves that you can get to go as well. A couple weeks later (on a Friday night) I was out with Glenn and we finished dinner around the corner from here and I suggested coming here because I KNOW he is going to love the beer selections. When we arrived, the place was really busy and I learned that every Friday night they host Karaoke night. Last time I was here it was really quiet but this time was the opposite. It was great to just relax and watch people take turns singing songs. Plus it was really impressive to hear so many people can sing so good. After that Friday night, it became our Friday night regular stop. Sometimes it's packed and sometimes it sort of quiet but either way we always have a great time there; even though I NEVER EVER SING. Well, I sort of never sing. I did once come here for my girlfriends birthday bash and once we drank enough my nerves settled down enough that I got on stage and sang. Unfortunately the first song I sang was when I walked up and took a microphone with a girl that was singing and I ended up being the background singer and dancer; but I thought I was with my friends and it was a stranger. It was really fun though. And I did sing one other time with Natasha and Lena; great time (and those girls can sing so good too). It's also nice that Coffee District has no problem if you come with your laptop and hang around for a long time doing whatever it is need to do. Glenn even likes to bring his to Karaoke night to catch up on his Yelp reviews. And beyond the coffee and beer they also have food. They have snack items like a hummus platter and they have all sort of simple morning bites like muffins and granola cups. And if you want something a bit more filling they make really good panini sandwiches. Can I review a Coffee shop without actually tasting the coffee?? Yes. Yes, I can. There is totally more to CD than the coffee. Mostly beer and karaoke, which are two of my favorite things ever. The CD beer selection is off the chain. Ok, maybe *I* was off the chain... Green Bench on tap- I'm talking to you. The beer selection at CD was pretty impressive both times, I've been to this little spot. Totally unassuming from the street and really just looks like a casual little coffee cafe. However, the two bars serving up yummy brews and a nice bottle selection say otherwise. I have to give props to whoever is making the beer selections- keep up the great work! On Friday nights they have karaoke and recently our own Marisol was host to an amazing karaoke UYE. The Karaoke DJ (KJ) is pretty chill and gives everyone a fair chance to get their songs in, but it does get pretty packed here on a Friday. Not packed like one of the crazy bars on Atlantic, but packed as in the tables get full and folks are definitely there to sing karaoke. I had never seen the use of a computer to input you songs, but it's pretty cool, because there no yelling back and forth to the KJ while he's trying to keep the songs rolling on. Of course, there's your standard set of CD karaoke regulars and they were quite entertaining. Plus we had our own crew of singing Yelpers to add to the mix and of course that made it a super fun night. CD is a great place to grab a couple of beers and chill out if you don't feel like heading to a bar. Or maybe your awesome Designated Driver just wants some delicious coffee while you sip your brews. Or maybe you just want to see what they have on tap, I promise it will be something pretty great. read more

This place is such a hidden gem! It's slightly off the beaten path, and very quaint. It's interesting how it's a full-blown coffee shop (think a less commercial sbux) but also has the most impressive beer selection; both draft and bottled. The staff are friendly and very chill- no pressure and a great relaxing atmosphere w/ some nice classic rock playing. We will definitely be back when in the area, and are so glad we found this place. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the food. There really isn't anything to snack on with the beer. Make something delicious - and offer it! read more

Toffee nut latte? Yes, please!! Possibly one of my most favorite coffee drinks I have ever had the pleasure to sip on. Coffee District has a relaxed feel. The girl at the counter was patient with my friend and my questions and ensured we ordered a drink to our liking. They were made perfectly - not a watered down mess with our drinks being iced. What makes this place a bit different is the massive craft brew menu which they serve up. Events are held in the evenings here all the time revolving around the beers. They also have little pastries and sandwiches available for a bite to eat, but I didn't venture into those. A bit off the beaten path of Atlantic Ave, but totally worth it with all they have to offer. read more
