Kam Wah Cafe is also famous for their freshly baked Pineapple Bun and Butter. Can't start your day without some HK Milk Tea and Iced Ovaltine. My son said it's a good thing the nai cha in the states are not as good because he was starting to develop an addiction. Lol. For those of you who don't know, it's made with Ceylon leaves, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. The French toast was so damn delicious but a bit indulgent. I do wish I could taste more of the peanuts. My son loved his bolo bao. We also shared a hot bowl of macaroni soup with Spam and lettuce. Thinking back, I regret not trying the Spicy Satay Beef Instant Noodle. I will have to look for this back in the states. The aunties working here are just the most adorable, very kind and welcoming. One of them took the time to help us navigate the huge menu and recommended a few items. I would come back again and again if I could. I have a mad love for these iconic HK Style Cafes aka Cha Chaan Tengs. These affordable quick-paced restaurants were influenced by the city's 150 years of British rule. Aside from the classic breakfast items, they also offer many delicious rice and noodle dishes in the afternoon.

We got here fairly early, so we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was as expected - quick, efficient, and no nonsense. A tell-tale sign of a good HK cafe. The food just hit the spot for me, bringing me right back to my childhood memories of eating this on weekend mornings at our local HK cafe. It could be just due to my wife not being a fan of Hong Kong Cafe style food. My wife is sort of a…read moretraditionalist and doesn't like the funky combinations that places like Kam Kee provide. But for me it's different. A Hong Kong cafe is like heaven for a stoner who has the munchies (just to make it clear, I've never been stoned. At least not for a long time!) But I do see the appeal for someone with these cravings. Everything comes with gravy or some type of tomato sauce. They make Coke Cola ice creams floats. French toast squares with ice cream. Funky right? But we ordered: Baked Pork Chop: this was a decent version. I think one more pork chop in the entree would have made it complete. The tomato sauce with the rice was a nice blend. Mixed grill: this was my wife's entree and she didn't like it much. She said it was ok. Flat noodles: that's what it's called in the menu but I know it as Chow Fun. I always like this dish and Kam Kee makes it decent. Service was proficient and friendly. My wife said it's a three star eatery but what takes this place into four category is they put effort into the design or ambience of the cafe whereas many places don't invest in that. It's a nice looking restaurant with decently satisfying comfort food.

The milk tea was very good. Gave 3 stars as the beef was a bit chewy. Chicken would have been better.

The milk tea is basic but good, and the pineapple bun... definitely not the best one I've had? But something about it hits just right. You see this massive thing show up and you have a bite, and another, and another, and a few more bites later you realize you are almost done with the whole thing, so you might as well finish. If you want a place to linger, find somewhere else. But for your pineapple bun, or a quick bite, this place hits the right feels.

Happened to be in wan chai today so why not- We got take out for two buns- one with butter and one without. But even before opening the package we knew something was wrong. Each bun was wrapped in plastic, but was so extremely heavy. How could a bun be so heavy? Opening it and taking a bite - it's like chewy raw dough. I'm not sure if it was really raw, but that's what it felt like. I couldn't finish it. I didn't even want to take a second bite, really. I'm actually very surprised at the good reviews on the bun here. Its one of the few times that Google reviews are more fair and accurate than Yelp reviews for me. Don't trust the lists!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get this bun!!!!

This place is a little hard to find because you have to walk all the way to the end of a street with a dead end and it's hidden in the corner. The restaurant itself is clean and spacious. The service was pretty good by Hong Kong standards. I ordered the scramble eggs with BBQ pork over rice and it came out in less than ten minutes! The dish looked amazing and the portion was pretty big, although I had no trouble finishing the whole thing. Hong Kong's scrambled eggs are on some other level. This spot makes them runny, and although I usually don't like my eggs runny, they tasted pretty amazing here. Doused with sweet, light soy sauce and succulent pieces of famous Chinese BBQ pork on a bed of rice, this was definitely one of the most comforting and satisfying meals here. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area! I have a new love for scrambled eggs :)

The creamy chicken macaroni soup with ham and abalone strips (and side of soft eggs with toast) made me feel like a kid again. The beef and egg sandwich, and spam and egg sandwich were exactly as expected; they came out hot and fast and in generous portions. Drinks were great too, especially the lemon tea served with real citrus slices (both hot and iced were solid), and the milk tea was as authentic as it gets. Value felt fair for the area. From the menu, tea/breakfast-style sets sit around HK$40-46, lunch plates are roughly HK$52-64, and most drinks are in the HK$18-24 range (with a few around HK$26-28), so you can order a full spread without the bill getting out of hand. Good to know: they only accept cash and Octopus, so don't count on credit cards. Overall, an easy 4 stars for a dependable, grounding first stop.

One day we just showed up before 5 pm and were seated right away. The strategy is to dine at this place before the lunch/dinner crowd! We were amazed by the varieties of dishes on the menu! It took us 10 minutes to decide on our favorites. We ordered sizzling mixed grill with steak, chicken fillet, pork chop, bacon, and sausage (all for HK$85 or US$11) and sizzling chicken fillet with fried shrimp (HK$78 or US$10). Each came with choices of rice, spaghetti, or vegetables and choices of black pepper sauce, garlic sauce or gravy! We also ordered fish fillet, black fungus, and mixed mushroom with rice in soup (HK$45 or US$5.80)! OMG! First, the sizzling mixed grill had 5 kinds of meat - steak, chicken fillet, pork chop, bacon, and sausage. The serving was good for two people. We didn't know better and put in three orders (for three people). One order was with rice and garlic sauce. The other two orders were with spaghetti and black pepper sauce. All the meat was tender, soft, and tasty! In the end, we took almost half of the dishes home. The sizzling chicken fillet with fried shrimp was prepared excellently! The fish fillet, black fungus, and mixed mushroom came in a bowl. It was surprisingly good with no fishy smell! The servers were very attentive, friendly, and polite. I highly recommend this little cafe with big dishes! Definitely, we shall return and try other items on the main menu! BTW: be sure to grab some pineapple buns on your way home! They have a small counter outside the restaurant selling the pastries. The pineapple bun has crispy top and soft! Simply scrumptious!
