We stopped in Baton Rouge on our drive to Austin, TX. I turned to Yelp for a great coffee spot for the morning. I found Coffee Call. I read that they had great cafe au lait and beignets. That's all I needed! When we arrived we noticed a drive thru which was very convenient since we wanted to get back on the road. Also, I thought I should get something more than just beignets to eat and I noticed they had sausage biscuits. This place has the best tasting coffee in town, in my opinion. I prefer the chicory roast but the cafe au lait is great as well. The downsides is that it can get very packed and the metal chairs are not very comfortable. The beignets are great though I would stick to the fingers. (The normal ones are impossible to eat without making a huge mess). Don't wear black here! You will come out looking like a ghost with all the powdered sugar. If you don't feel like paying for parking to go to eat beignets in the NOLA French Quarter, pull right up to the entrance here, grab a plate of beignets, plus a cup of hot chocolate or cafe au lait. go here a couple times a week, usually pretty good, today the to go line was huge so I decide to go in and get my order. Line inside is long no big deal, standing in line chatting with the couple behind me, all the sudden the guy who was taking the orders leaves the line goes to the end of the line and is chatting up a gal a the end of the line, he comes back takes my order ( a decaf Café au lait and beignets ) he gets a bag of beignets and hands them to the gal who had previously been at the back of the line and she leaves, with out paying. So I am still standing at the register he asks me again what I want I tell him, he brings me back of coffee that's not clear like coffee but not the color of my usual au lait he then tells me to go make my own and hands me my bag of beignets which he put no powdered sugar on.. I love this place. Everyone is kind and welcoming. Love the beignets. It opens late and by night the space is calm and quiet. I was here a few times for coffee and to study and write late into the night. The staff is very warm and will leave you alone to work or strike conversations depending on your mood. Love the beignets here, they're better than Cafe Du Monde IMO. You can get the regular-sized (fluffier) or mini (crispier). The iced cafe au lait is a bit too sweet yet the hot cafe au lait is bitter (but this can be fixed with sugar). The place is great for large groups of people and service is pretty quick. read more

WOW They were totally off their game Tuesday afternoon. I don't know who was running the show but the beignets we were served were old, hard and stale and truly terrible. If this had been the first time I ate here, I'd NEVER come back. I don't know what happened, but the management had better have a talk with the crew running the show in the afternoon. You don't HOLD Beignets, you toss them OUT--serving them to local residents is not the way to go. I'm shocked at how BAD it was and CC better do something about it quick. read more

One of my first goals after getting to Louisiana was to partake in some beignets. Luckily this place isn't too far from the city center and it's easy to get to. I got their three beignets and some cafe for a good price. I enjoyed both, though I would like to try their beignets with a different topping like honey. One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge! This place absolutely deserves 5 stars. The beignets are one of the best things you will ever taste in your life. Okay so a co-worker told me that I didnt have to go all the way to Cafe Du Monde to get beignets. Turns out they were here within a block of my hotel. For about $1.99, one of the friendliest men in Louisiana, Eddie, gave me a bag of fresh hot and powdered to the max beignets. You cant go wrong at this place... Obviously Cafe du Monde in New Orleans takes the cake for beignets and "experience" but if you're ever in Baton Rouge and want to reminisce about Nola - this is the place to go. The beignets are always fresh and covered with ridiculous amounts of powered sugar, so be sure not to wear anything too nice when you go. These guys have a great salad and soup bar. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable (a little less than $10 for soup, salad, and coffee or tea). I've never had the sandwiches or French donuts. read more
