We needed some nourishment on a Sunday morning before leaving Pala Casino. Coffee Amore is one of two options for food open on a Sunday morning. We didn't want a full breakfast so Coffee Amore it was. I ordered an almond croissant; Becky had an onion bagel with cream cheese. The dude behind the counter removed the items from their respective bags and popped them into a toaster oven. DING! Ready! He placed each item in a paper sleeve then into a bag with a little single serving cream cheese for the bagel. They were both just okay. Certainly not worth the $5 each I paid. The croissant was not light and flaky. It was chewy and seemed stale. The flavor was a little too sweet for me. It tasted alright but wasn't fresh by any stretch of the imagination. A lot has changed. I was clearing old pictures and realized I had a couple of Coffee Amore photos on my phone. When I searched for the cafe on Yelp, man was I surprised. First off, the food is total different. I had to make sure I was going to review the right place. There are no ice cream or shakes or delicious cakes anymore. Damn Covid took that away. In there place; muffins, danish pastries, and various croissants like the ones you buy in bulk and throw them on a tray during a HOA meeting. Not feeling a continental brown bag breakfast? You can get a 7-11 triangle packed sandwich or a microwaveable burger or pulled pork sandwich. Want something light, potatoes chips and candy bars are behind the counter And there's a display case of watches and sunglasses. Don't ask I didn't try to figure it out. There's a menu that says Starbucks including Starbucks paper cups and sleeves but it just doesn't taste right. Maybe because the coffee is coming out of the big huge thermos and they add syrup for the mocha. At least Barona's coffee is freshly brewed to order. I know you read that review. This is the only eatery open 24 hours in the casino. And that contactless pay terminal works only half the time. Overall two stars. The variety of food low and hot food is almost nonexistent unless you count the microwaveable chicken sandwich. Coffee I don't even think it's worth mentioning. Wait I just did mention it?!?!? And if you ask why I would grab stuff from here; it's simple. I got all that comp cash to use and this is the only place open late err early. Now excuse me, time mark my 600th review. We used our Pala Casino food credit at Coffee Amore. Chocolate croissant: it is misleading to call it a chocolate croissant. The chocolate was drizzled on top and there was no chocolate filling inside. Carrot cake: the carrot cake was decent. It had enough shredded carrot and the icing was not too sweet. Black forest cake: I am a fan of black forest cake and this one is not good at all. The cake tasted like supermarket boxed-cake mix and there was not enough cherry. This is a very small coffee and pastries spot and it's not a restaurant. I wish they were open 24/7 because it would be nice to get a late night piece of cake or something. They do have some delicious cakes and other sweet stuff so in my opinion this is a must try when you're at Pala. The fams came to Pala on Easter to spend a couple hours gambling. We all hung out in the non-enclosed, non-smoking section. (I still don't get this section, btw...) Towards the end of this section is Coffee Amore. It was cold, but seeing everyone eating ice cream, I suddenly had a craving. We decided to get a 2-scoop waffle cone and the kicker is that it's less than $3! Got the chocolate and cookies and cream, and the bonus was that the scooper guy totally hooked it up. The cone was massive!!! The ice cream selection was very limited, but as long as they had chocolate, I was happy! Not the best ice cream, but it did its job by satisfying my sweet tooth. They also serve coffees, sandwiches, salads, pastries and various desserts. The prices are pretty reasonable, but then again, you're spending your pay check gambling in their casino. read more

We discovered on our recent stay at Pala that Coffee Amore is now the source for room service. The good news is that they do a good job at the food they offer. The bad news is that, in a hotel that claims to be a four diamond resort, you can't order eggs they way you like them for room service. More about that in my Pala review. We ordered room service from them twice. They are faster than the old room service so that's a plus. There's a limited menu so that's the negative. But the breakfast burrito we ordered was very good and came with a side of breakfast potatoes. The omelette we ordered was also good but you can only get two items added to it - even if you're willing to pay for it - ham and cheese or ham and spinach, you can't get one with ham, cheese and spinach. Odd for room service but understandable for this small coffee-shop establishment. If you want some sweats or baked items, they have that as well. Probably best to go directly to the counter to order those as you'll get to pick what you want from their glass display area. Of note, it is a popular place. The line can get quite long. Those that enjoy coffee and latte always seem pleased when leaving. It's a great place to get a casual bite to eat. There are only about a dozen seats next to it but, if you're lucky and it's a nice day/night, you can walk out towards the pool area, make a quick left and grab one of those outside tables. Right next to the hotel elevators / lobby, if there's no line and you're hungry, step on up and order your favorite pastry, dessert, coffee and more. Enjoy! read more

I couldn't decide if Coffee Amore was worth trying.Maybe it's just my old habit telling me that only one review on yelp is not worth trying no matter how many stars. This morning I was up early out of habit and I wanted to go to the gym, but I was staring. I ate a huge dinner at the buffet last night, but after all the gambling I was too lazy to find food. So, I'm trying Coffee Amore. The only positive review I read about Coffee Amore on the main pala casino yelp is how cheap and good the ice cream is.. too early for ice cream but the chocolate couissant is good. Don't expect Paris quality but it's still better than the hard coasters they server at Starbucks. Also, just a note you don't need to buy coffee here just get it from the casino service or make it in your room. Coffee Amore is good for a snack. There's nothing really healthy here, but it will satisfy your craving until you murder the buffett. Trust me I've seen people destroy their bodies and the buffet. I don't recommend Pala Cafe! It's Average. Not many options for coffee or ice cream. It's ok...not much flavor added to anything. I guess it isn't a Starbucks.

The desserts are delicious and the portions are wonderful. I do wish the ice cream selection was more reliable. In my opinion, their two best flavors are pecan praline and macadamia nut. I hate that they don't always have them. I was told they basically pull out whatever they have "in the back" so there's no telling what they'll have from one day to the next. Really? You're telling me a four diamond resort doesn't have a better system than that?! How about have a few regular flavors and have one that alternates weekly or daily. YUM!!! I love that they have this option for people staying at the casino. After a LONG night at the tables, it is so nice to wake up and have a hot cup of coffee and a pastry! This morning I had a soy latte, and it was great! Husband said the coffee was just "OK" so do with that what you will. The croissants are amazing, so fresh! They have so many choices whether you are in a hurry and need to grab something and go or if you want to have a sandwich and sit and people watch. Good place to get coffee and pastries the varieties is good but as usual for Pala casino the service is very poor. They have good gelato and they also have some wraps and sandwiches but it's not good, very salty very generic. The sandwiches are made with fully processed meat and not quality of good meat. Great little food and pastry shop in the Pala Casino. I got a quick chicken melt panini and it was very good and convenient. The price was a tad high, but that's just par for the course as far as casino food goes. In the past, I've also had the ice cream cones here. They're awesome! I did not try any fancy coffees and I may try one this morning. My bill was over $7 for one chocolate croissant and a large coffee. A bit pricey. read more
