Wagamama is a chain the UK for pretty passible Asian food in Europe. So really 4.5 stars for Asian food starved traveller who's been away from amazing Asian food for almost 3 weeks, more like 2.5 for true Asian food rating. To the food, my husband ordered the chicken katsu curry which is a pretty safe order that he has had before. It is a more consistent choice on their menu. I hear they change their menu every now and then. I had their yaki udon. I almost wanted to try their ramen but their chefs and servers couldn't tell me if they used authentic ramen. lol. They said it was brought up from London. Their udon was fine. It wasn't Sanuki udon for the record. I do like to visit Wagamama when I am in the UK for my Asian fix as they are a safe bet so I will be there again.

Don't order the juices! They are watered down. The waitress tried to say that they are not or that it is due to the carrots here in Scotland.. what? I've had the the carrots and Scotland and they are not 50%wafer. And also don't order pad Thai unless you want bland.. Now, I ordered the ramen bowls and they were really good. Also the chili margarita was tasty. The service was good but don't try to justify watered down juices. Sorry we make our own juice and it is obvious. Anyhow give your own feedback if you check it out. Pretty trendy Asian fusion place. So I'll have to check back.

My family (2 adults + 11-year-old child) visited the Wagamama at Livingston Designer Outlet…read moreyesterday after shopping. We were tired and hungry, and we often eat at Wagamama branches in Glasgow, so we expected a nice meal. There were two couples already waiting inside. We joined the queue behind them. The entrance area isn't designed for waiting customers, so the waitress had to walk around us to reach menus. She asked us to wait outside between the two doors. It was cold, but she told us we could close the outer door, so we agreed and stepped outside. After one couple was seated, we came back inside and stood behind the remaining waiting couple -- now completely out of the staff's way. Another couple walked in behind us and stood at the door. The same waitress came over again and asked only us to go back outside, even though we weren't blocking anything this time and the couple behind us wasn't asked to move. I objected, explaining that it was cold and we weren't in the way, but she insisted with a very unfriendly attitude. Another staff member then backed her up. I felt completely singled out. The restaurant was half empty, and there were two large empty tables right in front of us. Instead of seating us, the focus seemed to be getting us out of the restaurant. We decided to leave, and I spoke to the manager before going. All he could offer was, "Can I sit you down now?" but by then the whole situation had already ruined our experience. We still never received an explanation why we were repeatedly asked to leave the entrance while others weren't. I've always loved Wagamama, but this experience was disappointing, confusing, and genuinely upsetting for my family -- especially because it felt like we were being treated differently from other customers without any clear reason.

The highlights were the vegan ribs and the bang bang cauliflower. The miso corn came partly warm and partly freezing so we had to return. We also got a prawn curry, which was nice. We asked to substitute white rice for sticky rice, which they agreed no issue, but no such luck when the dish arrived. With a little more attention to detail the place could be great!

But now I just think of Waga as a bit meh - so I don't tend to go here. We had dinner here before Star Wars as I really felt like salmon and I couldn't think of anywhere else at Silverburn to get it (other than Yo Sushi). I don't love the seating - benches where you'll be sitting next to strangers. Even though there was a queue for tables they don't fill up all the seats either which is a bit strange. We had fried prawn Gyoza, steamed chicken and I had a main of salmon teriyaki noodles. Overall, I was impressed with the food - the Gyoza were fresh and crisp and the noodles had a good amount of salmon. It did need a splash of soy to give it a bit more flavour but it did the job. It is a bit expensive though - we had a starter & main each, one glass of wine & 4 soft drinks for £50. Ouch. That being said, I did like the food and left full and content. Waga is never going to be my food-destination of choice, but at Silverburn where chain places are the only option, Waga is at the better end of the bunch.
