I'm all it took 2 hours for dinner. Seems like there are multiple people taking orders ( and talking to each other at the service desk - where they have no view of the dining room) but only one person delivering orders (the general manager helping out). I spoke with the general manager and this is the normal operating procedure (many order takers, 3 chefs and one food delivery person) although they were a little disorganized tonight due to some scheduling issues...at this point I had rated this 4 stars Breakfast update No waffles, no vegetarian sausage for the vegetarian cooked breakfast, no smoked salmon and no muffins for the eggs Benedict. Not sure how a hotel that is "fully booked" from months ago can't get their ordering accurate for breakfast Wanted to love this place as the setting of the hotel is great but the restaurant is a bit of a let down.

The Scottish breakfast was delicious with eggs, sausage, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans and extra haggis rather than black pudding. At dinner we sampled whisky before and after from the extensive offerings and accompanied our meal with an excellent French red. Starter was bread with salmon cannelloni (which resembled more sashimi and was farmed unfortunately), and mains were beef and haggis pie (rich wine gravy with tender meat and no usual haggis evident), and duck, both accompanied by delicious local veg. The desserts were fabulous and we opted for several varieties of in house made ice creams. I definitely would revisit the site when in Scotland.

The mushroom starter in dough was amazing. Delicate mushroom flavors came through with a subtle cream sauce. I had the gnocchi which were delicious and we also had the veal steak. I can't find anything negative to say. As Americans they offered us a take out bag for what I could not finish. I am delighted!!! Ambiance transported me to a small bistro in any European city. Certainly competes with the best.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and there is always a relaxing ambience, which makes a great intimate dinner, either with your partner or with a family. At first when you enter the restaurant you are seated in a little section designated for pre-drinks and nibbles before being taken through to the main restaurant for dinner, where the food is served not long after being sat down. This is great as means can have relaxing chat before being sat down for dinner. The menu is in Italian, with English underneath, with a large focus on beef, chicken and seafood. This restaurant is suited to kids as the chefs will make anything plain if you ask for it. Furthermore, this restaurant has a dessert trolley with all homemade fresh Italian puddings and you can choose there and then which one takes your fancy. I would highly recommend this place for a truly special dinner.

Lanark FINALLY has something nice! They do all sorts of nice Deli things that you would expect in…read morethe way of meats and cheeses (that's cheeses, not Jesus, although there is a man with a beard) for sale. There's a pretty decent range of spices and herbs for y'all DIY peeps to go for too. Also some fine foreign wares in the way of foods, sauces and treats. The coffee too is DAMN fine. I had a latte (standard drink to try out somewhere new before moving on to something else) and a mocha on a couple of visits, both of them very nice, perhaps just a tad on the hot side... the latte took a while to cool, that will be more than welcome in the winter though. It's right down the bottom of a street off the main High street, opposite the Lidl. Can't miss it, and you shouldn't. While it's not as extensive as delis in civilised places like Glasgow and Edinburgh, it doesn't need to be, and it shouldn't be. It focuses on having a small, nicely chosen, nicely maintained range - and good coffee and treats. Ideal for a smaller town like Lanark.

Wished we had stopped in sooner as the inside looked really nice and very well looked after. I only had the opportunity to try the mocha as a takeaway, which I think would have been tastier as a have-in due to the milk being slightly scorched. But the staff was very friendly and the inside was very welcoming. Nice displays. Nice-looking pastries & cheese selections. Definitely will be coming back to this spot next time round to check out more of their menu!

Taj Mahal is a damn fine one, and possibly the best in Lanark depending on what you get from them. My son swears by their donner meat (with chips, obviously) and every time I have a curry from them, it's spot on. This time, I tried something different from their menu, I had a pizza. Blow me down and call me Betty if it wasn't beautiful. 10" pepperoni, with a side of wonderful, crunchy chips. Honestly, it's enough to make me forever give up cooking and just phone things in, if I lived in a world where I'd won the lottery. Having said that, it's fairly reasonable pricing, including delivery and the food arrives quick, freshly made and hot... plus the menu is pretty good, even allowing fro the cheesy puns in there. If you're in or near Lanark (then first of all, my apologies) you could do much, much worse than eating from here.
