We had Cody Pools put in an in ground pool about 6 years ago. Over the years we have taken very good care of their pool. It is a $45,000.00 pool. We have up graded the skimmers, the pumps even bought a larger system to move the water better. Never waited for anything g to just break, stayed ahead of maintenance and weekly care. NEVER EXPECTED to have chunks fall out of our concrete retaining wall for no apparent reason. And when say chunks, I mean chunks. Such large pieces have failed out, the rebar can be clearly seen. So I do what any responsible customer does, call Cody Pools. The transfer me to warranty department. I explain what has happened and the woman gives me a phone to a masonry person. I call this person, as I was calling, I was thinking to myself, if a customer called me saying chunks of the retaining wall, that a vendor of mine built was cracking out of the wall, I would want to ask that client more questions that I might need to turn over to my Quality Control Department might want to look into. But I guess not. Maybe this is normal for Cody Pools. I know when I called around for estimates I got questioned on "did you say chunks???" But anyway I called the masonry person and he spoke such little English we couldn't understand each other. So I gave up on that vender and started calling around. Needless to say Cody Pools won't be a company I recommend. read more

Unfortunately, our experience with this pool company was extremely disappointing. Communication throughout the project was poor, and getting updates or answers to our questions often required repeated follow-up. The project manager was rarely present at the job site and typically only appeared after we called or texted to request his presence. The project also took significantly longer than the timeline we were originally given, with little proactive communication regarding delays or revised completion dates. This created unnecessary frustration and uncertainty throughout the construction process. We experienced numerous workmanship issues as well. The plaster was not completed properly, resulting in concerns about the overall quality and finish of the pool. Even more concerning, the tile work and grout are already showing signs of failure after only two months. These problems should not be occurring so soon after completion and raise serious concerns about the quality of the work performed. The subcontractors hired for the project also appeared to do only the bare minimum required, with little attention to detail or pride in workmanship. The quality of the finished product does not reflect the level of investment we made and represented by the designer. Looking back, choosing this company was a mistake. We met with three other pool builders during the selection process, and we now regret not moving forward with one of those companies instead. We placed our trust in this company to deliver a quality product and a professional experience, but unfortunately, they failed to meet reasonable expectations in both areas. Overall, we expected professional project management, quality craftsmanship, and clear communication. Instead, we experienced delays, lack of oversight, questionable workmanship, and ongoing issues that should never occur in a newly completed pool. Yelp really needs to find a less than 1-star review button. There are equally inexpensive companies out there. If you still use them....Check their work everyday - no one is checking the work crews. City failed them on two inspections which delayed them more than they already delayed themselves. Sales process is fine until you learn that the designs are not good with your back yard slope and now you need a retaining wall. Do they tell you at the beginning of the process following multiple measurements at your house and even their submission of the permit - no they break the news to you after they start digging and you put lots of money in their pocket. Don't go to Randle - he's worse than a used car salesman. He sells you on items and even gives you guesstimated timeline and then the superintendent shows up on his own timeline (45 day difference) ....which he then blew on his own. Superintendent didn't check any of the work. I had to point things out and demand that they be done correctly. Don't expect open communication or any real effort to explain circumstances - ways forward - timelines. Clean up and construction is a joke. Budget for $5000-$8000 in yard repairs. They destroyed the entire area around the pool (expected) but also the side of the house including my front yard irrigation system. Rock and debris was never cleaned up / only spread out and compacted into essentially a parking lot. They drove their equipment mindlessly around the yard. Oil leaks everywhere. Would not use if had to it over and would definitely not recommend them to anyone Update - I called Cody Pools as requested in their response. This must be an AI driven feature. Talked to a nice person at corporate who did nothing to resolve the project management miscommunication issues or lack of completion. Since they didn't do anything - we failed the city inspection because the project manager was on vacation. Cody Pools is a rip off. 4 months later, new "construction manager assigned" and nothing has changed. The reply is always "customer service is our priority, please call us to discuss" but it's a glorified answering service. NOBODY follows up. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Poor construction, poor customer service. Construction was in 2021 and concerns about poor craftsmanship began thereafter as well. The superintendent said "call warranty department." Warranty department said "ooh that's construction, get with the superintendent again." They pawned off to each other. So I contacted "top guy in SA, still got a whole lot of nothing. We overpaid for this mess, not worth it. read more

While Cody Pools was installing a pool next door the first layer of cement they sprayed blew into our yard and stained our 17 month old deck. We have called and they sent a guy to gently pressure wash it. But it had rained and dried so it dried to a dusty cement finish. Numerous calls by us and the pool owner have resulted in nothing. I wouldn't hire Cody Pools again if they were building pools 3 for a dollar. Absolutely the most unprofessional experience ever. Dre (the superintendent) was practically absent. When he did show up, he was unprofessional and obviously cared very little about my pool build. I had to point out things that were wrong. They botched my patio addition. Steps had to be redone 3 times. I witnessed workers using the restroom in my backyard! I had to pick up their trash. I had to power wash and stain my deck again from all of the stone dust. I could go on and on.... If you're looking to build a pool, I would not recommend Cody at all. It's a big investment so hire someone that actually cares about their work. read more

Cody Pools installed pool and deck 8/2017. Prior owners sold house to us 11/2019 and we moved in upon PCS to Ft. Sam. After a few weeks of heavy rain water started to enter the house and damage the walls, base and tile flooring. The concrete deck was not graded away from the house and Cody is refusing to remedy. 2 separate concrete companies said Cody installed pool too high and that's why they had to put slab to the house LEVEL WITH THE POOL COPING. It took Cody Pools over a year to build our pool (longer than it took to build our home! They never communicated with us and whenever we asked questions the response was - it was due to COVID. They continued to push the completion date out and still couldn't honor that date. When the pool was finally "ready", the mother board was blown, the pool equipment was leaking, the pool lights have been replaced once already (our pool is 3 months old) and another light just went out. They also installed sundek on the surface around the pool. The first attempt lasted about a1 week before it started peeling. They have replaced it and now there are 3 cracks in the surface. I just wish I had gone with my first choice instead of choosing Cody Pools. read more

From the time we first met with our Cody pool designer to the beginning of construction was approximately 9 weeks. After the design was laid out in my backyard the excavation began five days later. It took about three months to build. There were two week gaps without any work being performed. We were made aware their trade workers are jumping from one job to another. Building a swimming pool is a big messy job. My advice to anyone is to pack some patience because you're going to need it. Cody's quote was within our budget. The second bid we got was a full third higher. Be aware of these things; Trade workers using machines that move earth and spray concrete will kill or destroy nearby vegetation. Make sure they cover with tarps. We didn't and much of our lawn was destroyed. We were made aware of this possibility ahead of time. They clean up debris piles around the build site eventually, but not until close to the end. We had a minor slow leak by one of the skimmers. Our tech took a look at it and put in a service request. Two men came out and quickly found the cause. They drained a foot of water out and sealed the little corner between tile and the plaster pebble tech. No more leak, but there is a whiteish stain on the outside scratch coat. Our equipment is working real good. Pool stays sparkling clean. Our pool school trainer (Jacob) was excellent. I'd give a 5 star review if it wasn't for a couple things I wished were handled with a bit more emphasis on good customer service. read more

Here we are at day 3 with a pool filled with water (which we had to purchase). We can look at it but can't use it. It's dirty, not sure in ground vacuum works, two bowls for water to pour out of don't work, missing lid to a hole, not sure for what, missing basket, missing lights, equipment not finished, wire laying on top of ground. It's awful. Our superintendent Dre is worthless, he never showed to supervise anything, our salesman got his commission and then said he could not help us, Alex and now we are waiting on Scott who is Dre's boss to address the issues, Scott said they would remove rocks that the dug up and just stacked, clean up side of house that they destroyed, numerous promises, our contract calls for lights and we have none. They used our rock to fill bed of pool prior to concrete, I have had numerous pools and believe me people are reaching out to my post on facebook now and faced with issues DO NOT USE CODY POOLS!!!!!! I now have to pay a lawyer to get what we already paid for. Sloppy, unprofessional and very dirty work. They don't even deserve a 1. We are so sad about this; we have company coming. I met with Randle Hewlett at the request of my builder. We were told that Cody Pools was a preferred contractor and that Randle was the sales representative that we should use. I called Randle and we planned on meeting on April 18th. He seemed less than enthusiastic to help me out and when he discovered what our budget was he did not seem happy. He also took two phone calls during our scheduled meeting which I though was pretty rude. However, he said that he could make it work. He told me that he would drive by our lot to take a look and put together the design that I had requested based on the survey I provided him. After a week of not hearing back from him I decided to call him on April 26th to find out where we were at in the process. He completely forgot who I was and I walked him through our conversation from our meeting. He hadn't even passed by our lot as he had committed to do in our meeting but said that he should have a proposal by that afternoon or no later than Monday the 29th. On Monday, April 29th I received an email from Randle with a sketch for a pool. I was a little agitated that he had not considered the survey I had sent him with the sketch and sent something completely different that what we had discussed in our meeting. He put in his email that he wanted to meet again to go over pricing. I responded and asked if the pricing on what he sent was equivalent to the budget that we had discussed and he said that it would have to be priced out. Again I responded and asked what we needed to get a price on it and he seemed irritated when he responded back, "​let me price it out for ya,,,,stand by." He ended up sending back a proposal that was almost twice our budget. I emailed him letting him know that the design he sent was nothing like we had discussed in our initial meeting. He said he wanted to meet again to "draw it up." I told him that we had already discussed a rectangular pool with a spa and I reminded him of the budget that we had. He finally responded with what our initial request was from our meeting but noted that the spa would be extra and we would not stay in the budget that he had already agreed to do the work for in our initial meeting. He truly made me feel like because my job was not a six figure job that he probably wouldn't draw a lot of commission on he was not interested. I really wish he would have just told me in our initial meeting that this was not something he could do, or want to do, instead of stringing me along and chasing him to get stuff done. I guess I'm just grateful that this happened on the front end instead of having issues towards the middle or end of the project. read more

Was initially excited because Cody Pools met my 3 criterion (price, design, and start date). Well here we are several months later and they're still not done. We often go days and weeks with no idea what is going on. What was discussed and what was put in the contract were completely different. Was it left off deliberately, we don't know. It's just been such a struggle that I am not convinced I made the right decision. There is no respect for property. Certainly there are expectations that tour yard will be messed up but they've driven in spots that they didn't need to, broken my fence, tracked mud and left trash. No respect at all! The communication is extremely poor. If I knew what's going on then I could manage expectations better but again I have to call and text to get updates. For $80k+ I'd expect a little better communications and better service. read more

The Project Manager said he would have it out as soon as weather permitted because the first excuse was that it's been raining too much. Lol. I believe we all know we haven't had much rain. The only fear now is that when the finally do show up, if ever, they will damage our newly installed irrigation system. We chose Cody Pools for their reputation and quality pool designs. Brice Hayes was our pool designer. He was top notch from beginning to end. He made excellent design suggestions and he listened to what we wanted when it came to materials and colors. The pool equipment was of utmost importance to us and his recommendation for the PV3 in- floor cleaning system has proved to be outstanding. He answered our calls and calmed my worries about the construction process. Brice was honest and truthful about the design choices and the construction phases. He also recommended we use a soil stabilization service for under the pool and patio which we chose to do. Brice and our superintendent Tim Coleman came to layout our pool in November 2020. Tim's professionalism during the construction of our pool was outstanding. He explained every step and was on site during most of the process to check up on everything. He went out of his way to communicate with me in person and be sure everything was in order. Every text message or call from me was answered in a very timely manner. He made us feel important and wanted to be sure we had a beautiful finished pool. Brice and Tim were efficient and persistent communicators from sales thru construction. After having sifted through numerous pool reviews of companies in the San Antonio area, my wife and I arranged meetings with three different companies to discuss our ideas and get bids. Following site visits by all three companies and reviewing the bids, we picked Cody Pools of San Antonio (21195 WI-10). We didn't pick Cody because they were the cheapest (because the weren't), we made our initial decision because the Sales Rep (Bryan D.) was a real professional and we were impressed by the products they worked with and reviews we had seen in our research. From our very first meeting, all the discussions through the planning phase and to the point where he turned us over to the assigned Superintendent who orchestrated the construction, Bryan made the experience a positive one. We never felt pushed into something we neither wanted nor couldn't afford. Instead, Bryan "listened" to what it was we were trying to accomplish with our pool and helped us when we needed his expertise and advice on some of the equipment specifications and or the technical strengths or weaknesses of support equipment and or building materials. He listened to our concerns about how we wanted the construction equipment to enter our back yard (which required more time and effort on their part, but helped to minimize the footprint of the construction effort) in order to cause the least amount of disturbance to existing trees and other mature landscaping. He not only listened, he was instrumental in helping us pass this same desire on to the Superintendent. They were successful in making this happen. I don't want to make it sound like the construction site and my backyard were pristine throughout the construction, but I will say the construction footprint was limited to the area we had discussed. Once we were introduced to the Superintendent (Jonathan W.) on site, the positive experience continued. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Jonathan was extremely experienced, detailed and clear in his supervision and communication with all the sub-contractors. He clearly knew each of the sub's and had their respect. His communication with us was just as positive. He was on-site for the start of each phase of the construction and his follow-up once the work was completed was timely. There were many days during the different phases of construction where he remained on-site for extended periods, watching, talking with the sub's and making sure the plans were being carried out as explained. His calm demeanor and on-hands nature made the construction phase a very positive experience. I also want to mention that I never once was unable to contact Jonathan via text, when he didn't get back to me within a reasonable time (that is something I had not seen when working with other companies and projects on our home). Of a special note, Cody Pools and Jonathan specifically, were successful in coordinating and accomplishing a special request we had made during the initial planning of the pool. We had wanted a specific company (which had come highly recommended) to install an electrically operated pool cover. Cody and Jonathan had never worked with this company in the past, but you would have never known it by how smooth this whole part of the construction effort was accomplished. I credit this effort to Jonathan's communication and flexibility to ensure we got what we wanted. Bryan's graphic depiction of what our pool would look like at completion was almost to the letter. Don't bother if you are not a big project. I have about a 60K budget to remodel, but they were not interested.

Pool complete Oct 2020. (please excuse typos/ grammar errors ) DO NOT go with Cody Pools if you are average residential.... you will feel like a little fish with service and being nickle and dimed. Especially now since pool demand is high they can and will be picky And only take high game projects. There were constant delays and no communication after the first check was taken. No checkins along the way to make sure items were taken care And going as liked. I was asking questions constantly about next steps and pointing out items because they was no check in or communication. I had to contact multiple times after pool completion to request a rev bar that was sticking directly up to come be removed and I said it was a danger to my kids running/using the back yard. pool was completed and after a longer than expected inability to use the yard and the pandemic we wanted to enjoy the new space but this rev bar was a serious danger. They didn't take concern and it took many contacts to finally get it removed approx 3 weeks after pool completion. In addition to that it took 3 week and constant questions to put the fence back up properly- the top board was never put back up. They did not install a feature (softener of some sort) at all. I know nothing about pools and asked where that item was at ... and I paid$1,000 extra for that too! The response was let me see if you paid for that and I said I did here is the contact. ohh ok and finally 2 weeks later they came and installed. Had I not said anything they would not have put it or brought it up themselves!!!! The pool was completed late October 2020. we paid extra for pool sleeves /umbrella holders and it is now March 2021 and still no install of those pool sleeves/umbrella holes.!! I have been contacting and get the same I'll get someone out there within the week and nothing still!!! their material cost for this is maybe $5 that's what they told us and we paid $80 per hole to have them. The only reason they told us the cost is because there was mention in the sale process they can likley put an extra one or two for ya If we pay for some . We upgraded to an infloor cleaning system spent $6k at least on that. it is one with heads that pop up in the ground. And we upgraded to have two water features (Bubbler /waterfall). No where did they say these two had to work at the same time or did they attempt to ask if that was ok. We prefer to have the cleaning system run at night so the heads popping up wouldn't get tripped or hit on and use water feature during the day. When we asked they said because of the way the pumps are set they have to run at the same time. In addition to that, the bubbler randomly spits out water very awkwardly and everywhere. They say it's normal and air pocket likely related to cleaning system running at same time. NO ATTEMPT to fix the aggressive bursts. Thankfully these random spurts are not very frequent but they do spit water up very high and every direction pretty aggressively. Now after the freeze we have a very tiny leak when the water feature is being used... you guessed it ... they will charge to fix and it's not covered. Everyone was friendly but appears there is something in their process that causes a lot of miscommunication. We went with them and knew paying slight more but we thought the service we would get would compensate for that as we are both very busy with work and typically you pay more for the service aspect. did not happen with Cody Pools. They will only take and help very high game clients Especially with the recent pool demand increase. read more

He is still there for questions and it's been 5 years since we had our pool built. Randle and I have maintained a great relationship since then, whether it's pool related or not. Horrible experience with this location and upper management. The sales person has you thinking that Cody Pools are a cut Above everyone else with all their quality standards and customer service. That's so far from the truth. Cody pools contractors are sub standard in their concern for property owners. They run over stuff mix cement on grass.. leave extensive ruts.. etc. They broke our entire sprinkler system and won't even make it right. The waterfall leaks, the pool cleaner keeps coming apart, the hose that was put in to refill the pool isn't even long enough to connect to spigot... they broke a part to our air condition.. the disappointing thing is that we checked the BBB before we installed the pool and they had a good rating. Think other pool companies before you shell out 65k cash for a below substandard experience. Don't bother going to the CEO for assistance either, he never has answered our numerous calls or emails. Guess Mike Church is too busy counting the thousands$ he collects to be bothered to worry about producing substandard experiences. read more
