The moment the taste of the food hits your mouth it's like an explosion of freshness, tastefulness and spices. Without a doubt one of if not the best Indian restaurant in and around the midlands. The building was a Little Chef a long time ago but you would never know from the smart contemporary decor inside. The staff are so friendly, the bar is well stocked and the food is just excellent. We make the trip there regularly and you can usually get away without booking midweek, especially with the current economic climate, but make sure you reserve a table on Friday or Saturday evenings to avoid a long wait. The prices are very good for the quality and if you go on a Sunday, Monday or Tuesday at the moment (Oct 2009) they have a special of any starter and main course with rice or naan bread for less than a tenner!

Then one of my good friends in my later years promised me this would be a great place for a curry. So initial thoughts is it definitely looks outdated outside and in but surprisingly it is not all that uncomfortable with the old wooden decor. I will admit in around 20 visits here I have only ever order the one dish and that is the minced lamb curry with naan, it is that good! Look on the W/ton council website for the environmental health scores on the doors and Jivans scores one of the highest (4 stars) in the town for excellent food standards and kitchen hygiene. Better score than places that charge twice as much! Its only a small place with formica tables, so its not the sort of place for a special meal, there are far more swankier places to visit - but for a quick curry in a hurry after a real ale session, or a curry before the theatre this place can't be beaten. I would also like to mention that we as a group of friends always like experiencing new places to eat and do so frequently. I went to the restaurant with eight other people last night (29/11/13). We arrived and were the only people in when we came to order. After Ordering drinks we then all decided what we wanted to eat so began to order. out of the 9 of us 2 of the girls had decided they didn't want a full meal and asked if they could have a starter instead to be brought out at the same time as the main, which at the time we were told is fine as they were having 2 sides (a naan bread each), popadoms, a bottle of wine and a soft drink. Everyone else had ordered and the last person to order asked if he could have the starter brought out at the same time with a naan bread and rice to which we were told "You cant just expect order a starter and expect to sit here all night while everyone else has mains i can only let 1 person off with having a starter instead of a main" to which we tried to explain to him that 2 people had already done this so it clearly wasn't true as he was the only person taking our order. he then started snapping at us saying "okay only 2 people then". Genuinely stunned by how rude and plain belittling he had been we asked him to please cancel the rest of the order and we will pay off the drinks and popadoms. We did so and left and will not be coming back. Between us we would have probably spent £12 a head MINIMUM so just over £100 all in all and they lost business down to being downright rude and ignorant. Ended up going to Codsall Spice a local competitor and must say wasn't disappointed Brilliant food and service.
