Have used Bangla Kitchen for months now but tonight's meal was awful. Not up to standard. Will not order again. Waste of a meal.

Well this all started with a bit of a dilemma here, our favourite curry provider in northfield…read morehappens to be take away only so we thought we'd venture onto the high street and try Omar's after receiving a pretty good takeaway from them previously. Why did we wait so long? The decor insode is flush with blue and purple soft lighting and drapes, the waiters were very polite and straight on hand to help with your every need. The menu, well, we'd promised it was a quick bite but starters, mains sides and a forced down desert argued with that one (doggie bags for the left over mains were a life saver!). A range of unusual chefs specials suitable for both veggies and meat eaters alongside the standard brummie curry choices (dopiaza, rogan josh, tikka, bhuna etc...) meant we needed an extra 10 minutes to narrow it down from one of everything on the menu to what we actually wanted! As a sample menu example my choices consisted of: poppadums with mango chutney, mint yoghurt, lime pickle and tomato chilli mixed tikka starter for one Keema meatball curry with extra green chillies (just wow!) garlic pilau rice cheese and chilli naan and a pistachio kulfi to finish (only because we could, there was no room left at this point!) Cobra and Tiger beers were readily available alongside a small selection of spirits. A repeat trip may well be needed to sample the mango lassi here (I'm sure there will be no complaints if the rest of the experience is as good as this vist was)

Staying at the nearby Travelodge (and therein lies another story) we were snowed in and looking for some warming dinner. The Bangla Lounge had some food reviews and so we booked, walked through snow and sleet, then got there to an empty restaurant. Felt a bit silly but within 30 minutes the place was chockers. Not silly after all. Menu was good but large - hungry and cold we over ordered and couldn't clear the table but left groaning full of curry goodness. The naan was awesome, and honestly all the curries we had were fantastic. Then a free shot of Bailey's for the ladies and something sherry-like for the men with the bill. Awesome! Definitely worth a look folks.

Just Eat hadn't cooked the meals They hung up Just Eat offered me a £20 credit on next order Sorry J/E it is Bangla Lounge Halesowen that are at fault not the delivery. I wont order from here ever again. VERY BAD customer service. Will recommend on Facebook that you are wasting your money using this restaurant.

I only discovered this the next day when I was doing a bit more research. This explains why the meals were so excellent. I am pleased that we now have a bit of class in the form of upmarket cuisine. I hope the local now support this enterprise. IT IS IMPORTANT I SAY THIS - DON'T LET THIS HIGH CUISINE INDIAN RESTAURANT DIE..... The food standards' rating in November 2024 was a 4. The company was added to Companies House - 14th November 2023 There are two directors and one of those is Sudha Saha. NOTE There are two menus: Eat in and Takeaway. I like the former for it's smaller menu, as i believe small means they cook quality rather than quantity fast-food. The takeaway menu includes the traditional meals, had some of the a la carte items removed. I'll attach the al la carte and drinks' menu here too. Visited 20/9/25 - Daughter's boyfriend's 21st birthday. Originally booked for 8 people, but an extra person was added very last minute. Not a problem to accommodate. Service was excellent. Before our food arrived, we were given an amuse-bouche (see pic). Red Peppers Out for our usual on a Saturday night and we…read moredecided to give R.P. a try, purely because we couldn't park near the Bangla Lounge but could park very close to Red Peppers; what's in a location? It wasn't an impressive start, less than tasteful signage takes you through an uninviting doorway above a derelict shop. Up the tired carpeted narrow stairs we were pleased to find a clean and freshly decorated relatively small restaurant. Not the cold contemporary style so common these days but a warm, carpeted and softly decorated restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. It was 7.00pm on a cool evening and it was about half full, not a bad sign. The staff made us very welcome and were efficient throughout. We sat in a recess; the tables are quite close so there isn't too much privacy but I suspect they don't do much in the way of large parties. It is fully licensed but you are welcome to take your own although not unreasonably they do push their own drinks. There's a fair choice on the menu and overall the prices are very reasonable which includes most of the specials. The popadoms and selection of dips were typical with the onion salad tasting fresher than usual. The onion bhaji & sheek kebab arrived after a little wait. The kebab came on a sizzler with fried onions but I don't think it had seen a tandoor more likely the microwave, surprisingly however it tasted much better than average, juicy and very nicely spiced with a fresh side salad. The main courses also arrived after a short wait. The generous portion of chicken tikka naga was very good being both hot and tasty. My wife enjoyed her chicken tikka dupiaza which again was tasty. One minor criticism is that the chicken in both dishes was a fraction dry. No complaints with the garlic fried rice, garlic coriander nan or the frozen chips which were all very good and the two table warmers kept everything warm. Surprisingly we found room for a desert and shared a coconut ice cream unfortunately I couldn't see my favourite banana fritter. In my opinion worth 3.75 stars which gets rounded up. Unless I'm wrong, I think a tandoor would earn it a genuine 4. Don't be put off by the entrance, it is well worth a try and we had a very enjoyable evening with no complaints at all.
