I ordered the Oxtails over Mac & cheese. The food was mediocre. I'm starting to wonder if social media reviews are true. The Mac & cheese was dry . Not sure how that could even happen but it was. Wasn't cheesy, stuck to the skillet it came in and the food was on the cusp of being cold. Drinks where watered down Waitress took forever and a day to even get us water, check on us and get the check. She was nice but the automatic tip built into the total makes me wonder if that's why the service was lacking.. The music though, was SOOO GOOD!! We were seated at 1:42 PM and we never got food until 4:15 PM. We try to support black owned businesses and this is by the far the worst restaurant I've ever been too. It was a table of 6 and half of us ate at 3:45 PM and the rest is still waiting food. This was a go away party for a coworkers who is moving on. Never again! Service sucked period! The server bought us wings and no napkins for our whole almost 2 hours there. I even tapped her to let her know we wanted more drinks etc. She told us she'd come back and never did. When she finally did come back she didn't ask how everything was nor if we wanted anything else. She pulled out her digital clock, pointed to the time and said "happy hour is over". Maybe we'd have gotten more items if we were given a chance. However the table to our right got consistent attention and we'd gotten there before that table did. There's also a take out window smack dab in the bar dining area. I don't get that setup at all. The music was way too loud for us to hear each other and the dj wouldn't shut up. Let's start with the food was good! The server was nice and the location was quiet. The rum punch!!! I understand that during the day on a Saturday may not be your peak time but maybe you could plan for more in restaurant dining. Out of my group of friends I ordered my food first which I asked to be put in. My friends ordered 20mins later. We waited over 1 1/2 hrs for appetizers. I understand fresh cooked food. I appreciate that BUT tacos and mussels shouldn't take that long. Out of the group my items came out last which was overly salted and I ordered first. They had a lot of walk ins that I believe were served first - but I can't be for sure. I will return in hopes that they have additional staff on hand to accommodate the flow. read more

I'm only giving 3 stars because of the Rum Punch. I did not enjoy the food. It's crazy because you could smell the spices and seasoning but it was flavorless to me. I usually don't write reviews but due to the DISAPPOINTMENT I experienced in this place this, I had to come here and express myself. My friend convinced me to give this place a try; we went in and sat at the bar and kindly waited for someone to decide to GREET US-- which NEVER HAPPENED. After 5-6mins we noticed we were being ignored by this extremely RUDE tall bartender which consciously made eye contact with both of us several times and decided to just simply IGNORE US. This lady started cleaning the bar instead of attending us. We then decide to move to the middle of the bar hoping to get someone else's attention--this male bartender passed us the Menu, then we called him several times and after 15-20 mins this man wants to tell us to wait some more. At this point we just decide to get up and leave. I have never walked out of a place so fast in my life! Someone needs to train the staff in this place or have them take a CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING BEFORE PUTTING THEM BEHIND A BAR! IF YOU HAVE NO SOCIAL SKILLS-- THEN YOU SHOULDN'T WORK BEHIND A BAR!! Been ordering online from here since COVID and let me tell you this place is AMAZING. Food and drinks are always on point. Can't wait to go here to eat inside once COVID is over. They told me it would be a 15 minute wait (mind you the food was ordered in advance) , I went out to the car to wait came back in after 20 mins and the food still wasn't ready. There was an older lady who told the girl with the bad attitude to plate the food and pack it up and she was nasty as well. I asked for a menu to take with me and she walks over grabs a frame with a QR code and says scan it very nonchalantly as if she was annoyed with me. Ordered the jerk chicken salad, let me dissect. the online menu said mixed greens and another menu said arugula well it was neither. Does the chef think that because of the area she serves we wouldn't know the difference between mixed green and cheap romaine? The menu also said grilled pineapple well that was non existent. The "ribboned" cucumber was big chunks of uneven cut cucumber. To make matters worst the chef didn't even take the time to peel the cucumber. I've been ordering from Code Red since they opened and as restaurants go, in the beginning things were good, but due to lack of professionalism or some comfortability the service and the food is declining. I ordered take out yesterday that took 50 minutes. While waiting to pick up the food my husband overheard conversations about nails and $500 hair units. I ordered a large order of chicken but it came in a medium container but I didn't complain. Then when we finally get our food home, there's this plastic in it. I thought it was the bone of the fish I ordered but it was in the side of garlic mashed potatoes. Do better Code Red. In the meantime you've lost a customer. read more

I went on a date here on 10/28/22 and loved the vibe & food. I ordered the code seafood platter which consisted of mussels, 2 crab leg clusters, shrimp, 2 potatoes & 2 ears of corn. I loved it so much that I placed a pick up order for the same thing last night and I am extremely disappointed. There were no potatoes, only one piece of corn and the two crab legs clusters were missing the actual claws. We just walked in the place, i was trying to ask her why, then she started to yell at us saying she's not serving us anything. I was asked to speak to a manager and nobody came to talk to us. My boyfriend and I came here last Thursday during happy hour. We arrived a little after 7 pm. I loved the ambiance and the decor, but customer service is not their specialty. We weren't greeted by anyone despite it being pretty empty so we just went and sat at the bar. The whole experience was a bit confusing because we originally sat and ordered our drinks at the bar with the bartender whose name was Dwight I believe. But we opted to get a table instead as the chairs were a little small. He seemed to be more focused on his other customers who had already been sitting having drinks at the other end of the bar. Our server went by the name of Blacks, which was confusing because Dwight's name was on the check with a 18% gratuity already taken out. He also seemed to be the only server and there were about three other tables he waited on. After we ordered our first round: coconut margarita for me, Mai Tai for my boyfriend, we decided to try the calamari. It took forever to come out and it was luke warm. It was also heavily drizzled with a really thick aioli sauce and had too much breading and not enough seasoning. The drinks were pretty good so we ordered another round. I went to an event thrown by the BBP there so I was able to try several of their dishes at one time, buffet style. The Rasta Pasta was phenomenal, Mac & cheese on point, curry chicken delicious, jerk chicken delicious! They have a new female chef and & operations manager named Nicole Brown. So disappointed. I was there for lunch around 12:30pm on a Thursday. There were a total of 4 other guests in the entire space. You would think that it would be easy to deliver decent service & food but nope. We ordered the crab cake appetizer that comes with corn salsa. The corn salsa being the deciding factor in ordering the dish. It took 20 minutes to come out and when it does the server sets down the plate and says, "sorry but we ran out of corn salsa so the chef substituted with aioli sauce. I hope that's ok" and walked away! The crab cakes had this sauce drizzled ALL over them. What chef takes the liberty to just do that. The other person in my party detests sauces and cannot eat them. And for the server to just walk away like here you go...unacceptable. I didn't say anything quite frankly bc the person with me was of another race and I didn't want to down talk a black establish in front of them. I ate the burned crab cakes drizzled in sauce. 20 minutes later my main course of crab legs, shrimp, corn, and potato comes out. Absolutely awful. When I tell you the potato was so hard and under cooked, I couldn't even slice into it. It was literally like a raw potato! The corn on the cob piece was completely cold and dry. It looked the way cob looks when you leave it out overnight. Again, unacceptable. The shrimp was good. I didn't even bother to taste the crab legs because they were cold. Again I kept my mouth shut for the sake of shielding a black business in front of others. Finally, I ordered a frozen mai tai to drink. It might as well have been a mai tai with ice chips. There was nothing frozen about it in the slightest. After 3 minutes on the table, it was all simply liquid. The ice had melted. The reviews were hit or miss and I took the chance because it smelled so good. But honestly I should have called a manager over for all of it. That potato had to be the most egregious of all I mean you can throw a potato in the microwave to soften it up worst case! But it's actually tied with the sauce "the chef" simply decided to smother the crab cakes in without asking A) if we want it or B) if someone had allergies... Totally ridiculous. This establishment was such a disappointment tonight. Came to celebrate my sister's birthday. The waiter was absolutely horrible. Brought out the wrong food several times which we asked for a manager and he refused to get her. To top it off, the manager did her best to make things right but we still waited an additional 30 minutes to pay our bill because he did not want to come to even take our check. Never been here but I placed my order through UberEats. I ordered seafood Mac n cheese and fried shrimp. The Mac n cheese has no taste I had to literally put it back on the stove and add a little seasoning and black pepper to it but the fried shrimp was good. I wished they would've given tartar sauce to compliment it but non the less I made it work. Food had no flavor, the people working with the food had no mask no hair nets on them touching their clothing hair and then packing peoples food. Also their food had no flavor whats so ever I had ordered Mac and Cheese, Sweet Chili wings, and Rasta pasta with chicken and shrimp just horrible. And then I tell them that my kid has a seafood allergy wbu they going to pack everything that has seafood right on top of the food that has the allergy and all the juices of the shrimp roti had leaked into the food so I couldn't give that food to my kid. Just very disappointed with this restaurant. Also why they said it's going to take 10-15 minutes but it took at least 45 to get our food and I had noticed two bags on the counter for a good while and then finally the server came to us and said your food is ready. I had the opportunity of trying this restaurant in the Bronx for the very first time and I had heard so many raving reviews about it, until I had to tried it for myself. This restaurant does not need any introduction, the flavor of their sauce, as my nephew would say was Bussin, it was amazing, absolutely amazing! With the liquor from the oxtails being so delicious, it made you want to eat everything on your plate. They give you more than enough rice and peas, I don't think they give you enough oxtails but the oxtails were delicious. They give you very little cabbage, but the main course was the rice and the liquor I would say. I highly recommend this restaurant, they really did the thing with the food. The customer service was very nice and I will try it again. I'm just said that the restaurant two blocks below it was not as good. read more

I placed a food order to Code Red thru Door Dash delivery service. I had the Island Wings, their homemade punch and a slice of red velvet cake, which was just okay but the side dish of pumpkin medley was HORRIBLE! I couldn't eat it, had to discard it!!! It had NO FLAVOR to it at all and it looked as if someone threw together some regular white potatoes, boiled and mashed it up then sprinkled some orange powder to look like pumpkin. Sat July 18th 2020 8:45pm my first impression was good nice set up looked nice and clean. employee appearance was good to great. i remember a few years back asking myself why don't they have a lounge here. and finally there is one lets see after covid how the place will change don't think the out side seating will exist. (unless the owner is willing to pay for the permit $$$). i do have to agree that the music was to loud would make conversation a challenge. i ordered the crab cakes over cooked which will make them dry presentation looked pleasant. 2nd order wings. over cooked and rubbery ( i have a few theories). 3rd order cheese Burger! cause i was not asked figured id make sure it was not well done lol to please make closer to medium well lol finally fries were great and burger was delicious! i remember the Dj announcing welcome to code red something "fine dinning". with that in mind as a mental note. before i left went to the bathroom for a closer look. glancing at the kitchen set me up for a disappointment. the kitchen is not set up for fine dinning abilities. kitchen not set up for full-service. bill: gratuity was included $21.** i gave an extra $10 in cash. server has potential final impression: I am so happy code red found a way to operate and provide a serve and jobs in the community at a most vital and needed time. I ordered a Mango Mojito and the CD Chicken Sandwich (with basil fries). Everything was delucious!!!! I was so impressed by the fact that the fries were fresh cut and extremely yummy!!!!!!!oh my goodness....Now, the only complaint I had was the brioche bun wasnt as fresh as it couldve been.
