Looking for delicious Asian fusion in Beverly Grove? Look no further than C.O.D Restaurant on West 3rd Street. With an expansive menu, and an amazing happy hour weekdays from 5-7pm, C.O.D stands for "catch of the day." The name embodies the restaurant's passion for fresh, high quality ingredients. With a glass of rose in hand, I didn't have a bad bite all night. Our waitress was incredibly helpful in pointing out popular menu items, and she sure didn't steer us wrong. My friend and I started with the 4-piece Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. A favorite dish of mine, it wasn't too spicy and the tuna practically melted in my mouth. I could have eaten 10 more pieces. The Salmon with Yuzu Soyis another menu highlight. Served in 6 pieces, this salmon is lightly seared with sizzling sesame oil, garlic, and serrano chili. Plus each piece has a slice of jalapeño on top, which was a nice contrast to the sweet yuzu soy. If you are dining at C.O.D with a friend who isn't into seafood, definitely get the Crispy Pork Belly. To be honest, get it even if everyone loves seafood--it was that good. It comes served in small honey soy glazed bites, topped with jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro. Now, onto one of the most famous C.O.D menu items--the Truffle Uni Pasta. It comes in a big bowl, perfect for sharing between two to three people, and is made with shaved truffle, green nori linguini, creamy uni sauce, and fish roe. It is definitely a heavier item, but oh so worth it. My friend and I barely had room left for dessert, but got very easily talked into the Chocolate Lave Cake, served with a scoop of vanilla and a berries. My friend said it best when she said, "I want to live in this cake." It is served warm and gooey and perfect. You could have rolled me home by the time I ate the last bite, but those of you who know the warmth of a food coma know there is no shame in a dinner well devoured. Enjoyed everything we ordered except for the crab toast which was mostly a salad on toast with crab sprinkled like you would Parmesan cheese. I was really excited to order the uni pasta. The waiter told me they were out of fresh uni, they'd discount the price from $33 to $28 to reflect the quality, did I still want to try it? I ordered and though I missed the cold cool taste of fresh uni on top, the pasta was delicious, it's a killer sauce. The oysters were super fresh, small, crisp but meaty, just the way I like them. Overall, it was a decent experience and the service was very friendly. The food came out really fast on the appetizer, then there was a big lull for the rest of the meal. We had the special oyster, albacore, salmon, scallop carpaccio, wings, brussel sprouts on HH menu. love it. The spicy tuna roll is slightly too much rice. not a big fan of the pork belly, maybe just didn't go well with my drink. Uni pasta is a must. This is the reason you go to COD instead of EMC. Food was really good for the most part. The 3 is for overall services. We were left unattended at the waiting area after we were told to wait in the corner. Only to have 3 parties that came after us be sitted before we were. Also when we were sitted and having drinks, unmasked, our server did not wear his mask over he's nose, this made us very uncomfortable, especially when he's lean in. Holy moley... I've traveled to many states and sampled amazing food, this place, Is exceptional! The staff are so accommodating, and the food is delicious. Melanie is great, she knows her stuff and makes your experience warm and welcoming. I had a 4 dishes and the best was the grilled octopus. Ask for some bread to mop up the delicious sauce. Currently here. Server is super sweet, but there is clearly a disconnect between management and the people in the trenches. We have overheard every server complain about the owner. Apparently he/she/they are cheap and unwilling to hire additional servers. It shows! Super slow service. The food is 100 percent 5 star worthy. It was easily one of the best meals I've had this year. The oysters were *so* clean and fresh, the pork belly was crispy and rich, the seared salmon yuzu was surprisingly meaty, and garlic noodles were so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I'll want that sublime clam chowder broth for months and months. The service, on the other hand, was so poor that I didn't know what to do. It stood in such abject contrast to the quality of the food that nearly put us off our meal. For a place that has "raw bar" in the description, knowing "literally nothing" (in his own words) about oysters seems inexcusable when we were asking for assistance choosing. My boyfriend and I came here after driving into town from Vegas. We're huge fans of Japanese food, especially sushi and yakitori. I've had COD bookmarked for a while now and I finally had the chance to try it! However I have to say everything except for the truffle uni pasta was a little bit disappointing. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was tiny and the rice was cold. The garlic wings, oysters, grilled octopus were good but nothing special that will make me wanna come back for them. The server recommended us pan seared sea bream, but it was very blend and I could not really taste the freshness of the fish. The uni pasta was definitely my favorite dish and I love how chewy the noodles are. This is probably the only reason why I may visit here again, but also there are also many other places with good uni pasta in LA that are probably better options read more

Amazing dinner! The food was Divine. Delicious and generous portions. We ordered it yesterday for my birthday and loved it so much we are ordering again tonight. We went in last night for dinner. It was a reservation for 6 people but 3 of us got there first and were seated immediately. The waiter came to introduce himself to us and to see if we wanted drinks. My brother ordered a coke and I asked for a glass of ice water and so did my mom. The waiter said "sure and should I bring a bottle of ICE WATER for the table"? We assumed he meant for us to refill our glasses so we said yes. But NO!!!! He brought a bottle of flat water. Which is not ICE WATER......that's a bottle of flat water. Then he disappeared. So I told the other waitress that we didn't not order the bottle of water and that the waiter said bottle of ICE WATER. Finally everyone showed up and we started to order. The waiter didn't return to the table and we got another waitress. We started to order with her and then some how ended up with a third waitress helping us. The food was great. The portions were good but the service was a 4/10. They are all super pushy when it comes to ordering. She kept insisting that the plates were small which some were and some were not. She started to get annoyed when we didn't order a lot. For 6 people I hunk we did pretty good on food. I normally don't like oysters but this place is amazing ! It has no ocean taste at all to it (thank the higher spiritual being of the universe) ! & please ask for Sydney if you want surprise drinks(alcohol) he's the sweetest barista ever and if you want, you may ask him for suggestions and Sydney will pour you with his Sydney signature mixed drink. First off, the whole dining experience took 2.5 hours because the kitchen forgot our order. We were seated on the second floor 20 minutes after arriving, despite having made a reservation. We waited about an hour for our appetizers and another hour for our entrees. By the end of it, I had to go downstairs twice - once to check on my orders and another time to get my own to-go boxes. The food was at best OK. I expected something unique from the fusion style, but they missed the mark. The Peking duck was made from a cut of duck breast that misses the original flavor from having roast duck with bones in, and as such the meat was dry and bland. The sauce was very interesting and not in a good way. It tasted like a Worcestershire duck sauce. The sushi sampler had mediocre grade fish, which you could probably find at any odd 3 star sushi restaurant for less than 10 dollars. As a final note, I understand it's a tough environment currently to run a restaurant business, but please don't overbook beyond capacity. They're completely understaffed and making a reservation is totally useless. We got there right on time for our reservation, only to be ignored for 15 minutes and then being told "we're at full capacity there's nothing I can do". There were two tables waiting in front of us that also had a reservation so we had to wait for them to be seated first. Treated one of my best friends here for her birthday, and everything was absolutely delicious! Their happy hour menu (M-F 5-7pm, but you need to get in all your orders by 6:45 pm) was quite extensive, and we were pleased to find that many of the items we wanted to order from the regular menu were on the happy hour menu. To help you choose what to order, some of the highlights from our meal included: spicy tuna crispy rice (wahh only 4 pieces though!), crispy pork belly, and brussels sprouts. We also ordered the scallop carpaccio and albacore, which was pretty tasty, but not incredible. The chicken wings looked amazing from the Yelp pictures, but they were okay. But like the dish that everyone keeps mentioning on Yelp, the best dish here is definitely the truffle uni pasta. Wow. It's a bit pricier than some other places that offer this dish (costs $30 at COD), but it's worth it! It was sooooo good and the only thing that I wish I could change was that I wish this dish came first because we were all pretty full by the time we ate the truffle uni pasta, but boy, it was delicious. It's an absolute must order. Service was fantastic too.
