Took a class to make Tagliatelle Al pesto from scratch by a chef who has experience from master chef! I'm a big fan of the show was very excited to learn from her. Class is very beginner friendly. Chef was attentive, friendly and patient with everyone.There's a bar you can grab drinks/water from to make the class extra fun! I really enjoyed everything about the class and the only thing I'd strongly suggest is giving each party their own equipment. The machine to roll out the dough and the tool that cuts the pasta is shared and the other party using it was behind and slow which snowballed to my party falling behind and we got lost towards the end a bit and although the chef came over to check in, we felt a huge rush. At the end everyone's pesto and pasta are combined and cooked together - which i also hope we can do this step ourselves. Imagine working hard on your pesto for it to later get mixed in with everyone else's

I took a Pad Thai cooking class with Chef Saruj and he was absolutely amazing! He was very informative of the dish and provided us an excellent background of each ingredient. He was very down to earth and made the class very fun. Highly recommend taking one of his classes.

My friends and I attended the Tagliatelle al Pesto class and it was so much fun. It was very interactive and a fun idea for a date or group activity. The class was about 2 hours and we learned how to make the pasta and pesto from scratch. We were able to eat and even take some home. Plus there was a bar available for happy hour drinks (for an extra charge). I would deff recommend if you're looking for an interactive date idea in the city

The cooking experience was absolutely great. We did the pastry recipe and it was wonderful. He explained everything to us and even gave us extra details. Then we went into groups and started making our dishes. It was cool. There were a group of friends date night people, and even singles. I would definitely highly recommend. I walked away feeling more confident in learning about cooking and since we were using portable burners, it made me feel like I could do this anywhere. It broke the threshold that I needed a really big kitchen to cook. I definitely recommend this cooking class. As for the venue, it was January out on a terrace that was covered and the heat wasn't working. The venue could've taken care of this better by giving us heat lamps or move us to conference room.

My son scheduled a cooking class for $126 because he was in MD for a special event with a friend. The class was cancelled due to low enrollment but no refund was issued. We were only offered a chance to reschedule on a different date. My son attends college in NC, so he's unable to reschedule and it's unfair to expect to keep $126 when no services were rendered! Cocusocial disputed my credit card company and said that the charge was valid due to their "no refund policy", but emailed me and said that they typically issue refunds for low enrollment but couldn't in my case because I disputed the charge with my cc company! Steer clear!

Jerry was a very knowledgeable chef. He was also very personable, funny, and had some entertaining stories to share with us. He played some latin classic hits and made us feel as though we we're family and right at home in his kitchen. I felt seen and not lonely although I was there alone. The dishes came out pretty delicious especially with his magical Mofongo sauce. I now feel more comfortable making my own Mofongo and empanadas at home too! I would definitely go to another one of Jerry's classes. 10/10 chef's kiss!

My friends and I had a wonderful experience learning how to cook Pad Thai. Our instructor Saruj was wonderful. He was fun, attentive, patient and made the experience enjoyable. My meal came out delicious and it was great being able to eat the dish after making it. I will definitely return to another Cocusocial class soon.

Went here in December for a ricotta stuffed ravioli making class. I forgot the instructor's name, but he wasn't very attentive and we were often left sitting there waiting for our next instructions. We weren't the only ones, the table next to us was also a bit lost. Unfortunately, everyone's final product looked really unappetizing and everyone's dish was kinda inedible bcus the ravioli skin was too thick so it ended up being undercooked. We all rolled it out multiple times through the pasta rolling machine to try to flatten it too! But the instructor set the thickeness of the machine too thick. Even I knew it was too thick and wanted to change the thickness, but I didn't want to be rude and touch the machine. He gave us the okay throughout the whole process, so I just wanted to trust the process... But I should have followed my gut! He was a nice person, but just a terrible instructor unfortunately.

Chef was very friendly, I previously took a sushi class and the rice was prepped for us, this time though they also gave us the rice, it was nice to have the chef prepare it in front of us. The variety of meats and veggies was great and of course veryg filling. The added bonus of wasabi, ginger, and seaweed salad added to the entire meal. read more

Learning how to make Dumplings from scratch with Sandro was great! He taught a large class yet helped each person out and answered everyone's questions. He checked every dumpling that everyone made to make sure the meat had cooked to the right and safe temperature. The dumplings came out great, the portions were satisfying, and the ponzu sauce made from scratch was good. I'd recommend this cooking class to beginners, advanced learners, and couples. read more

Our class with Chef Diego was amazing!! I booked the class for myself and my family for my birthday. Chef Diego is exceptionally hospitable and made us feel very comfortable from the moment we stepped in. He is very skilled and takes you from the basic steps to more advanced in such an easy way that anyone can follow. The sushi turned out delicious! My first time cooking with cocusocial was a really fun experience. We did the green curry class in Midtown east and the instructor was engaging and enjoyable. However, we decided to try out another class with this company and it was flat out abysmal. We did the Puerto Rican classics class and they flat out lied about the description. I contacted customer service and they changed the description of the website after I complained about it. The website initially said there would be minced pork empanadas or cinammon apple empanadas. Instead, there were beef empanadas and guava empanadas. Literally such a waste of $100 because I don't eat beef or want to eat guava empanadas. The customer service representative sent me back an updated description after I complained. What a shame, my first experience with the green curry was fun but after this, I don't plan on doing another class. Watch out for what you guys pay for, because you can easily drop $100 down the drain. read more

The classes are great! My husband and I went on a date night to celebrate our 3 yr wedding anniversary and it was so much fun! We took the dumpling making class. Chef Sandro made the experience light but informative. The only thing I would do differently is to use pre-made dough only because of time. My girlfriend booked a pizza cooking class for us. And it wound up being a great time. The instructor we had was excellent. It was fun to learn how to make a pizza from start, mixing the ingredients to make the dough perfect, and then adding the toppings. The pizza came out tasting great too. There was a bar there, so we were able to get some drinks while we prepared and cooked our pizza. A great experience indeed. read more

I will start my review by stating Erik Brumfield is an exceptionally talented human being. My husband and I were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary and the recent birth of our son. We needed a sexy night out; Chef Erik did not dissapoint. We walked into his home and was greeted with a bright grounded energy. From the smells coming from the kitchen to the decor we just knew we were in for a great evening. Chef Erik took us on a culinary journey having us create our familiar meal with unique twists. He taught us many chef tricks that we could replicate in our cooking. My favorite part was that he allowed us time to enjoy each step with each other He recognized his guests were in lovey-dovy mode and catered to that. Our questions were answered not only with facts but colored with his exciting take behind some of NYs most celebrated kitchens. The food was delicious, absolutely delicious. The chef was great! Very friendly and explained things well. We made Chinese dumplings or what I know as 孩子。 I was nervous about still being hungry after based on someone else's review but there was also PLENTY of food. We were stuffed and ended up being able to take some home as leftovers. Overall, this was a perfect idea for a date night! Most of the people there were couples and it was very cute. This pie making class was the best! I'm generally not a baker, especially something that involves crusts. Honestly, I find them intimidating but Katie walked us through making 3 delicious pies, 2 of which I took home. I did it! The chocolate bourbon pecan and apple cranberry crumb pies were wonderful. I say "were", they're gone. Family loved them. The rasperry lindzer torte was beautiful with the lattice top, and tasted fabulous. (Keep your milk or coffee ready). We even made our own caramel for a drizzle across the apple crumb. People were so nice, I made some nice new friends. The studio was adorable, and everything we needed was there, including aprons. Definitely worth the money, very entertaining and different, and I am not intimidated by dough making at all any more! She and her husband warmly welcomed us into their home and led us to a beautifully decorated table of what was described as a "welcome snack," but was actually a delicious feast in itself. There was Uzbek dried fruits, nuts, both sweet and savory pastries, and hot green tea. I loved the Uzbek raisins, which are bigger and juicier and just better than any raisins I've ever had! As we ate, Damira shared photos and stories of her family's life in Samarkand, an ancient city in Uzbekistan that lies on the silk road. Once we were all well-acquainted and nourished, we headed to the kitchen to cook the main feast. On the menu were homemade individual breads, spinach stuffed pastries, a spring cabbage salad, a cucumber potato salad, and a lamb stew. Damira was such a great teacher, demonstrating techniques before having us actively participate in the prep, cooking, and serving of each dish. She timed everything perfectly so that we had breaks and ate basically the entire afternoon, while continuing to engage us in stories of her home and culture. When we sat down for the final meal, the delicious food was somehow made even better from the meaningful connection we all shared while cooking it. The four and a half hour class flew by and while I didn't want to leave, I was very happy when we were each sent home with enough leftovers to last another two meals.

Kate and Meredith have each been at DLS for over 20 years and are just fantastic resources. I don't know what we could have done without them! Our son just started their 4s program and he was part of their 3s program. In his 3s program, he was in a class of 10 children with 2 teachers and currently has 3 teachers with 14 kids in his 4s program. I can honestly say that their program is heads above any program we considered during our search with individualized attention given to his progress. He has cooking class, music class and library every week. They have a rooftop playground with a garden and special wood boards, boxes and sawhorses for kids to independently build things from their imagination. Kate and Meredith are also well known in the NYC school community as they have been around forever and are very helpful during exmissions.

Persian as a language is very rarely taught here and and besides going to NYU for language classes (Columbia is not teaching Persian anymore) you literally have no other options, so I was really glad that I found this online! Rates are affordable (most classes are private and flexible with timing) and the teachers are good and patient at breaking down the grammar, the alphabet as well as introduce cultural aspects of learning the language. All of that translates well into their other programs such as Persian movie night and Persian cooking classes, which are a ton of fun even if you know nothing about the language and/or culture itself. I truly hope this grows into something larger over the years, because given how diverse and multicultural NYC is, I am shocked that this is the only place that strives to provide an authentic Iranian experience to people from other cultural backgrounds such as myself. Even if you don't want to learn a new language because you find it tedious, it's NYC so get out here, make some new Iranian friends and learn something new about another side of the world. Viola was a terrific instructor who was patient and kind with everyone at every stage of our projects. She made everything easy to digest, and made sure to make herself available for additional demonstrations if necessary (and it was, because for the life of me, I could never remember how to thread the machine). Viola was always encouraging during the projects even if mistakes were made and was always ready to help when we needed. This is a must-do class for a beginner sewist, and I cannot wait to use the skills I learned in my sewing journey going forward. NYSC and Viola are the best!

The Asian Dumplings Cooking Class was very enjoyable and informative. The cook from CocuSocial was a cook had taken a class with previously and he was just as fun and informative as previously. For me it was also a testament to his cooking skills to be able to go from Japanese Ramen (my first exposure) to today's (May 11, 2025) Asian Dumplings. We began with the instructor telling us about what were going to do in the class. Then he proceeded to demostrate the making of the ponzu sauce (spicy and non-spicy). During the sauce demo he also described what is meant in cooking what a portion is related to. One portion to one cup. After the sauce demo, we proceeded to making our dough for the dumplings. He proceeded step by step and also went around to each work station to individually check each participants dough and then commented if okay or required more flour or water. After everyone's dough was ready, he told us to bag the dough and then instructed us on how to properly hold a nice for chopping and then we chopped some veggies to be used in the mix for the dumplings filling. After the veggies were collected to add to the ponzu sauce and let cook for a few minutes. We then were given a demostration on how to roll and slice the dough for the dumplings casing. On how to roll the sliced portions flat, and then given a display of the various types of dumpling shapes that could be used after filling with the beef and ponzu sauce combination. After boiling and/or frying the dumplings we sat down and enjoyed our creations. I would definitely recommend and CocuSocial cooking class. read more

His career, which spans various locations from Osaka to Atlanta, speaks to his expertise and dedication to his craft. Throughout the class, Chef Hiroki was not only informative but also personable and engaging, making the learning experience feel more like a shared journey than a typical cooking class. I attended the Shaken Up: Mixology Basics course with Naomi Phillips. And I must say Naomi did an amazing job teaching this mixology course! I booked this class as a part of a group of 8 celebrating a friend's birthday and was unfortunately the last to arrive due to the treacherous weather as a result of the hurricane :( So firstly, I'd like to acknowledge her patience, empathy and understanding regarding the arrival of the class participants as the weather was treacherous due to the hurricane. She was empathic and kind in ensuring that participants were SAFE FIRST and was professional and welcoming when I (and others) arrived late due to the torrential downpours and winds. I've attended other culinary classes where instructors were rude and unwelcoming when participants arrived late and that was not the case with Naomi. Additionally, she provided thorough explanations of how each of the cocktails were to be made, explained the importance of aromatics (which was very beneficial to people like me who've no background in mixology or bartending) and provided easy and memorable cues for making the drinks. Naomi was a gracious host and teacher and she came around to provide us with corrective instructions while also allowing us to enjoy the experience and I appreciated that. She managed the time well but still covered all the material. I would definitely take another class with her and highly recommend her! read more

The instructor was very attentive to my (and the other students') work! He helped me correct my mistakes while I was cutting the vegetables and fish for the sushi. He also demonstrated twice to me how to cut the final sushi roll. He taught us a master technique on how to cut vegetables efficiently and quickly. He let us run free with the sushi; we could put any combination of veggies and fish that we'd like! He also taught us about wasabi and how the very green ones we eat in sushi restaurants are not real wasabi (it's only a derivative) because real wasabi is harder to import from Japan. By the way, he cooked the rice in front of the whole class to demonstrate how to make it. He gave us great tips on how to flavor the rice. Luckily for us, we did not cook the rice in class; he cooked it and demonstrated how to in front of the class. Finally, he also taught us how to roll sushi in two ways: using the bamboo mat and using just your hands (if you use your hands, it rolls into a sushi cone). Overall, he was very thorough and responsive to the class's questions. I would definitely take another sushi class with him again!!!! But first, I'm going to try my hand at creating my own sushi at home! read more

Highly, highly recommend. I had so much fun in Gina's French Macaron class! She was very thorough in explaining and demonstrating the process of making French macarons, and her energy and sense of humor added to the casual and enjoyable environment. Gina and her assistant Katie were there to guide us through every step of the way to ensure that everyone left the class with a box of beautiful macarons. I would highly recommend taking this class if you are interested in learning how to make perfect macarons (that can rival those from Ladurée in my opinion) yourself. I learned SO much, had such a great time, and walked away with more macarons to enjoy at home (and the recipe so I can attempt these at home without Gina and Katie's guidance). It would be super fun coming here with friends (although you should be aware that you will likely be divided up into groups of 4), a significant other, or family. I took a sushi class taught by Daniela Rosen with my mom and may I say, it was incredible! Daniel was fabulous! He was very thorough and gave a lot of detail throughout the class. You could tell this wasn't something he was doing because he had to, it was very clear this was a real passion of his, as it showed with his joyful personality. I loved that Daniel told us what everything was that we were using throughout the class, including the tools used to prepare the food, as well as where everything was from so we could purchase everything on our own to recreate sushi of our own at home. The sushi came out amazing and I was very impressed and pleased with the class. Daniel did such an amazing job and helped to make the time fun. I was trying to think of something unique that I could do with my father for fathers day and his birthday and taking a cooking class was something that came to mind. My dad LOVES to cook and honestly he is a great cook, so I had to pick a class that he has never done, so this class was perfect. Honestly, we went in with no expectations other than what I had read in the description of the class. I am not from NYC but my father lives here and I was taking a chance on this class. I have to tell you it was AMAZING! Not only did we learn how to make Asian Dumplings three ways but my expectations were blown out of the water. Gill is wonderful! He truly knows his stuff, which is not surprising considering he has over 40 years in the culinary world. Chef Christian at the CocuSocial dumpling-making class was truly a joy to learn from! Chef Raina is so knowledgeable and so sweet, her husband was also extremely kind and super amiable, I had a great experience. They made the experience really laid back so I felt comfortable throughout the entire class. They answered all my questions and shared their experiences with me about Indian food and traveling around India. The class itself was hands on and super easy to follow, even for someone like me with little experience in Indian cuisine. Trying the spices was one of the highlights since a few of the spices were ones I hadn't tasted before or simply did not know the name of. I left the class really appreciating the food I had just made and definitely appreciating all the spices used, the depth it gave the food, and the amount of work one has to do to make these yummy samosas. The Spanish Tapas class was so much fun! I am not one to cook so much, but not because I wouldn't love to. Frankly, I am intimidated by my mother's cooking and I shy away from cooking anything outside of a breakfast menu. Adriel, unlike my mother, shared all his secrets for each dish. And he explained each ingredient with such detail and gave us other suggestions of possible things to add if we preference more protein or spices. He was also so thorough in explaining prep time and step by step process for each dish. I found the menu to be elegant yet simple enough to make quickly with just a few basic ingredients. This was 1 of the best date night experiences ever with my husband of 15 years. 100% of the reason was Chef Jerry! He was engaging, real, down-to-earth, friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, helpful, humorous and so many more wonderful adjectives. I had a great experience with Sandro. He was really nice and the class was fun. He mentioned that this was his 1st tamales class with Cocu Social and he did an amazing job. I hope I can join him for other classes. My only suggestion for this class is to include the measurements. Everything was by taste and I know many people love to cook with exact or close to exact measurements. Also there was a lot of left over ingredients. My other suggestion was the cinnamon in the sweet tamal. I heard a few people mentioning it. We were told to break it into pieces and add it to the mixture and after cooked we had to spit out the sticks. So I would either leave it whole or remove it. But the food tasted great and the hot chocolate was soooo delicious. I can't wait to make everything at home and return for more classes. read more

I got a Groupon for a sushi making class with CocuSocial. I had always wanted to take a sushi making class, since it's my favorite food. I'm so glad I did! The entire experience with CocuSocial was great. It was extremely easy to book the class. The atmosphere was very friendly at the class. My girlfriend and I sat at a table with two other couples we hadn't met before. Quickly, we were laughing and having a great time at the table as we learned how to properly cut the vegetables and roll our sushi. Our teacher, Nicole, was extremely helpful. She made sure to check on everyone's progress and answer any questions. We made three different types of rolls during the class, and I got a great helping of sushi! I can't wait to try it at home. My husband and I took part in the Japanese Ramen experience on Feb 6 with Chef Sandro. He was kind, informative, obviously an expert, and a seasoned teacher. He took our varying levels of skill in the kitchen and made it a fun process for all. Many of these cooking classes can feel just like that: classes without much application, a lot of watching the instructor do things. Sandro's class was not like that. He invited us up to the burners, asked us to contribute to the discussion and to help out during demonstrations. Not only that, the final product was beautiful and delicious. I brought my mom here tonight for her Mother's Day gift because she absolutely loves to cook. We took the Gnocchi making class with Chef Jason and it was great! Carolyn is terrific! I brought a group of 15 people to the Classic & Creative Cocktails course and EVERYONE said they had the best time. Carolyn is funny, engaging, and a natural instructor. The drinks she demonstrated were delicious, she answered any and all questions with a smile, and the interactive part of the class was really fun. The class venue - Staybridge Suites breakfast room - is light and airy, with plenty of room for people to sit, move around, and taste drinks. Chef Gian Luca was super knowledgeable and conducted an entertaining and fun cooking class. We had such a great time learning how to make homemade pasta and pesto sauce. I was there with 4 family members and he made sure to include everyone in the class, taught valuable techniques and rewarded our efforts with fun prizes. My 90 year old Italian mother was with us and Gian Luca made her the star of the show. The food was delicious and we would like to do another class with this chef again soon.
