Karen Lee is a treasure! She welcomes you into her home, her kitchen, and her love of food! You will learn more than how to assemble a recipe and follow instructions, you'll understand the choices Karen makes when selecting ingredients, you'll gain an appreciation for how she plans and prepares, and you'll get to EAT!!!! Her knowledge, her kindness, and her hospitality made for a wonderfully fun night with friends - those I attended with and those I made while learning, cooking, and eating! read more

Wow! What an amazing time my family and I had at Karen Lee's Cooking Class. After spending 5 seconds with her it is obvious that she is a master at her craft. What is amazing about her is that she makes you feel like a couple of old friends are hanging out and preparing a gourmet meal. I learned a ton about cooking and ingredients and had a great time! Could not believe that the first time I looked at my watch it was 4 hours later. The whole time you are hands on and she encourages you to ask any question you have. Supremely talented instructor and a super nice and kind person to spend the evening with. Highly recommend and I will definitely attend another of her classes. read more

Amazing class. Karen Lee is very knowledgeable and experienced. She takes time to explain every step. You can tell she is very passionate and loves what she does. I took my first Karen Lee cooking class in December and it was hands down the best cooking class I have ever attended. Karen's theme of "cook for taste, eat for health" is the perfect balance. Her recipes are practical and can be used for week night meals and for entertaining. Karen teaches portable cooking skills that have already changed the way I cook at home. The casual environment and intimate setting made it really easy to extract tips and pointers than often get lost in more formalized cooking schools/classes. Also, I love that Karen gives you all of her secrets for where to buy the best ingredients in NYC. I can't wait for my next class with Karen! --Maureen read more

Karen Lee's Cooking Classes - Pork and Shrimp Shumai. I have made these three times since Karen Lee's cooking class in mid December. - Cooking Classes Near Me - New York, New York

HIDDEN GEM IN NYC! My girlfriend and I took a class a few weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with Karen! Everything about the class was absolutely perfect! A few days before class my girlfriend called to ask if any consideration could be made as she's a vegetarian and many of the options seemed to be things she'd pass on. Karen was very accommodating and added an extra item on the menu and prepared hummus in advance! We loved all the advice that Karen offered throughout the class! Not only did we learn a ton of new cooking tips, but as residents of Manhattan we were tipped off to where to find the absolute best ingredients all over the city. At the end of class Karen sat us down and went over the recipes and gave us a few extra pointers for each even though our time had already expired. We cannot wait to take more classes for Karen! read more

Karens class was a pleasure. She was very informative, provided fantastic tips for the meals we cooked along with excellent holistic cooking tips. If you wanted to be more hands on, she allowed you to be more interactive but if you wanted to watch and learn you could as well. We would highly recommend this for any level cooks, beginners to more advanced cooks. Will definitely be going back in the future and probably bringing more people with us. Thank you Karen! read more

I really enjoyed my cooking class with Karen Lee. Her classes focus on organic, healthy foods but not in a crazy at-the-cost-of-tasting-good way, but rather yummy simple food that happens to be delicious. I really liked it. We made: --a white bean and chickpea dip (sort of like a take on hummus) --roasted brussel sprouts --roasted butternut squash with fresh rosemary --arugula and beet salad --cilantro rice (which blended two different grains of brown rice) --poached red snapper with tomato, onion, jalapeno --carrot cake with cream cheese icing The classes have about 10 people in them and she opens a few bottles of wine as you eat the final product. All of it was simple enough that you'd feel capable of doing it on a random night after work, but all of it was very tasty. I'd recommend. I got a gift certificate for the course from XperienceDays.com, but I think the price is $100 a person. read more

I was so lucky to receive a Karen Lee cooking class as a gift from my wonderful sons. Having attended a previous cooking class, from a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, this experience was far more entertaining, fun & informative. Karen uses only the finest organic ingredients, and the outcome of the fabulous food we all participated in preparing, tasted phenomenal. I am a fairly experienced cook, I've prepared meals for our family parties for up to 150, and Karen gave us great tips & tricks of the trade that I'd never known before, and will certainly use. She's warm, friendly...a master at her craft and oh, SO knowledgeable in such a fun way. I am excited to take more of her classes, & will also get some gift certificates to share with my family and friends. I highly recommend this class!!! read more

the reason for the 1 star I signed up for an upcoming class - I took the last two openings - excited to bring along my best friend and have what I know would have been an enjoyable day . I live in Los Angeles. I received an e mail from Karen Lee that her class for the date I signed up for was over sold and could I come the following week. I had told her that I live in Los Angeles and was coming in for a week only to visit my best friend . I will await my refund and move on read more

Karen is a true delight. Probably worth the money to come and just hang out with her for a night because she is very cool. Took a private class for my friend's 30th birthday. Her husband took the lead on creating a menu that would work well for our group, taking into account both things that would be good to learn and foods his wife liked to eat. Since Karen conducts the classes in her home, it was cozy and comfortable. We created each dish and then ate as we went along which meant we didn't have to wait too long to eat - however, we were eating our steak and potatoes at close to 10pm by the time we were done. We were a group of 10 and since the kitchen is pretty small, we couldn't all help with everything. While this decreased our learning, it increased our ability to chat and drink wine with friends, which is always a delight. Once we were eating our final course - pie that we had brought, completed by chantilly cream made by Karen, we were able to chat with her a bit more. She is so knowledgeable and has had an amazing life journey she was more than willing to share with us. Overall a fantastic night! read more

What great fun! Karen is really a splendid person, very attentive to her small groups of learners and super knowledgeable about cooking. I really enjoyed learning from her in such an intimate setting (her home!). She selected a chicken dish, a fish dish, a soup and a couple side dishes for us to work thru, and was completely open to questions all night long. I've taken a couple dozen cooking classes over the years; at this stage, for me, it's less about getting my hands on new recipes, and more about learning the tips and tricks to turn an entree into a culinary experience - Karen's class delivered!!!!!!! read more

I've made several of Karen's recipes at home successfully. I love her lentil and red pepper salad! read more

I booked a private class with Karen for my wife and our friends, and we all had an amazing time. It was so easy to speak with Karen and set the menu ahead of time, and she made sure it felt very personalized for our tastes. While our crowd was boisterous and loud in our socializing, Karen did an excellent job of including and engaging everyone in every part of the cooking. Each plate was delicious, and came with wonderful lessons that we could put into practice in our own kitchens. Karen is an absolute sweetheart and an amazing chef. Our class was such a huge success, I'd be doing New York a disservice by not writing a review. read more

I took 2 classes with Karen - one for which I planned a private cooking party and another for my personal enjoyment where I joined a group class. Karen is really an incredible cook and super friendly. She never passes by a step of the prepping or cooking process without explaining why it's beneficial. So she's not only an incredible cook, but also a wonderful teacher. She specializes in cooking very healthy, all natural, delicious, non-complicated meals. I even used one of her dishes for my Thanksgiving dinner and not only did it come out spectacular, but it was easy to make! read more

I discovered Karen Lee's Cooking Classes a few years ago when looking for a present for my mother. My mom loves to cook, but also enjoys learning new techniques and recipes, plus it's would be an excellent Mother-Daughter activity. We had such a good time at that class and my mother has been talking about it ever since, that I decided to buy us another class for this Christmas. The intimate class sizes (our class had 9 people) means lots of hands on time in the actual meal preparation. The recipes are delicious and versatile and Karen is really good about taking dietary restrictions/preferences into account when creating the menu. She spends a lot of time explaining not only the techniques involved in creating the meal, but also the ingredients, including where to get them. I highly recommend her classes to anyone at any cooking skill level. She has plenty to teach both the novice and the experienced home cook. Take her classes! read more
