My wife and I were scoping out some spots in Cocoa/ Merritt Island that we hadn't tried. We came across "Coconuts on the Beach" at first we were thinking typical beach bar w/bar food. I immediately fell in love with the restaurants decor and beachfront atmosphere. The music, paint, and decor just gave it a very island feel. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. The restaurant was well spaced so access with my wheelchair was not an issue. The outside deck seating was by far my favorite. The food was absolutely delicious. To our surprise not only did the place look good but the food was high quality. The bacon wrapped scallops were out of this world, and the crab cakes were delicious. With a cocktail or two we were enjoying Cocoa Beach like it was the Caribbean. I will return and I would highly recommend giving them a try. read more

We had a good experience here. I wouldn't say great but it was good. I definitely love the location and you're paying for that. The food was decent. I tried the fish and chips which I did not think were very good but my husband tried a burger, and it was very good. All in all, I think it was a good ambience and we had a good time. BRETT the waiter took care of us--awesome guy. Party of eleven and he was on top of everything. At one point, I spilled an entire cup of black coffee :-((( on my relative's white dress. Coconuts was a really fun beach spot in Cocoa. This was another experience where the food, drinks, and views were great but the service was awful. We sat outside and didn't get waited on for almost 15 min before the waiter took our drink order. Then 15 min later he came back with a tray of 5 tables drinks and slowly handed them out. Again, this wasn't the waiters fault because his manager had him waiting on almost the entire outside patio by himself. I felt bad for him because I'm sure their lack of staffing impacted his tips. I loved the restaurant itself, it's pretty much everything you want for a waterfront tiki bar but unfortunately the service was awful. We sat outside and I was suggested by our awesome waiter Dustin to order a Pian in the A** drink with a rum runner. The drink was so delish and creamy. Pretty good size for $10! For an appetizer we had the bacon wrapped scallops. Now these scallops were so big and fresh. Oh my gosh I cant stop thinking about them. They came out piping hot and the bacon was crispy. Dustin then suggested the fresh Mahi with salsa mango and jerk seasoning. The mango salsa was fresh and nice big chunks of mango. Sooo yummy. They scream your name (have they not heard of texting when your table is read) This place is about volume, not customer service or experience. Really enjoyed this place, so much we went twice while visiting on vacation! A great atmosphere and view of the beach and very good food!!

This place was suggested by our hotel. We arrived at dinner time tonight (Friday night). The wait was 45-60 minutes, but we were able to walk on the beach until our table was ready. Coconuts is perfectly situated on the water and the atmosphere is perfect giving high hopes for our experience. Unfortunately, our excitement was short lived. It took 75 minutes for us to get our dinner, and we hardly saw our server throughout the entire experience. The biggest disappointment was the food. It was all so salty, that none of us could finish our meals. My blackened mahi tasted like it had been rolled in salt. The burgers and chicken fingers tasted like a salt lick. This may be a great place to hang out at the bar and have a few drinks, but it's not a place to visit for the food. read more

I've been here many times over the last decade, but mostly for the view, location, and drinks! They usually have bands on the weekends out on the patio, which is cool. The food and service is hit or miss! The fish tacos are mediocre. The fresh catch of the day fish sandwich is pretty good, but WARNING...there's an upcharge ($2.50) depending on the type of fish you order, and it's not mentioned on the menu or by the waiter on my last visit...ugh frustrating! Disappointing! And when I ask the about it, he never apologized and made it seem like it was no big deal. So I think I'll be trying out other restaurant options on my next visit to Cocoa beach. Came here during lunch, ended up having to wait a bit to get in, but it was well worth it, and strolling the beach while we waited wasn't the worst thing. I got the Mahi Chipotle Wrap, and it was pretty damn good. Unlike other wraps, i felt like the flavors in the wrap were distinct, and the texture was pronounced. Coconuts is the place to be when you want to be on the beach in downtown Cocoa Beach. We came here several times, partly because it was right next door to where we were staying, but mainly because of the atmosphere. Each time we went there, they had live music. There are at least 3 bars in the place, so if the outside bar by the beach is too crowded, grab a drink inside and go back out and sit on the beach. The suggested drinks are your typical fruity beach drinks. They're sweet, but not over the top. They were perfect for drinking by the ocean. I had the Florida Mai Tai. The souvenir glass is quality! It's a full bar though, so they'll make you whatever you want (to include some frozen options). The first time we ate there for lunch, I had the mahi mahi tacos and they were good. The black beans were a bit sticky, but I put the leftover salsa in them and mixed it around and it was much better. The second time we ate there was for dinner. The oven wasn't working, so my first choice of food was denied. I settled on the "drunken salmon" and a side salad with vinaigrette. My salad came with blue cheese and I'm not a fan at all of blue cheese, so I had to exchange it. Then, my food came and it was just a piece of cooked salmon on a plate. The waitress noticed right away that the sauce was missing, so she went to the kitchen to grab some. When she came back with the sauce, I noticed the salmon wasn't sitting on any grilled pineapple either, like it was supposed to be. She again went back to the kitchen and brought out a couple pieces of grilled pineapple, but it took about 10 minutes. Needless to say, my salmon was cold. She was very apologetic, but never offered me anything else or to remake it. Overall, I gave this place 4 stars because we came here at least 3 times and 2 of the 3 times were great. The atmosphere was fun and drinks were good. I would come back the next time I'm in town. As far as the food goes, it's not fine dining, so don't expect AMAZING food. It's just good, but being right on the beach with live music gives this place that extra little push. read more

Oh my goodness!!! The in-laws ate here a couple of nights ago earlier than we could with a napping 2 year old. We got to experience it tonight. Oh my goodness!!!! We ate outside, so the atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Then, our server, Star, came to the table and, listen folks, I feel like the art of properly waiting tables is almost lost. People just aren't trained well and it is hard to find great or even good service. Star set the bar super high!!!!! She took amazing care of us throughout the night and her excellent knowledge of the menu helped us make the right decisions all along the way. (Attention, management!!!! Star deserves a raise because she is just that excellent.) The chips and salsa with queso was awesome. The salsa was literally some of the best I have had and the queso was delicious as well. And now, for the feature act!!!! The shrimp and scallops with sweet potato fries and side salad was literally one the best meals I have ever had after eating in 33 countries around the world. The sweet potato fries were delicious and prepared perfectly. I have had many sweet potato fries from other places that were either undercooks or soggy. The shrimp and scallops were cooked just right and the sauce made you want to lick your plate clean (I didn't for fear of embarrassing my wife, although I did scrape my fork over my plate to try and get every last bite.) This was truly the trifecta of a perfect dining experience: excellent service, perfect atmosphere and food that makes you fail to find the words to describe. The food at this place was so delicious! My friends also really enjoyed their meals. The reason I didn't give it all 5 stars was that the service wasn't the best and the portion was small so if you come here hungry, you may not be full all the way. The reason it doesn't have 3 stars is because we did come towards to the end of the night and since the food was so good and the environment looked pretty good that it could be assumed that it was an off night. Servers are always friendly and happy. Going early is best before it gets super busy, otherwise you'll be waiting a while. If this place wasn't on the beach, I'd give it a "3" for average. I had heard that Coconuts in the Beach was a must visit place while in town so we decided to check it out. When we first walked in I was pretty excited about the place. It was full of people and the decor was pretty sweet. Sadly, that was the best part of the visit. The sign said "seat yourself" so we did, just two of us. After about 10-15 minutes a server, Monique, finally came over to take our drink order. She also informed us that the kitchen was backed up and we couldn't order any food at that time. A little frustrating seeing as we drove 45 minutes to get to the place so we decided to wait it out and see how long it'd take. After another 20 minutes we were told we could order food. I ordered the mahi tacos with rice and beans. My brother ordered fried shrimp. After an hour more of waiting our food finally came out. It was obvious as first glance this food had been sitting in a warming window for too long. The tacos had decent taste but were very dry. The rice and beans in the bowl was cold and hard. I couldn't eat it. My brother said the shrimp was not bad. Needless to say, not very satisfied with our order even considering the were busy. Monique, the server, was nice but this place is a train wreck. Floors nasty, multiple tables nasty, total chaos everywhere. Another thing, I watch the servers bring food out and they were carrying large trays with plates on them up against their head. I also saw their fingers touching the food when they would pick up plates to pass out and even watched them hand plates to people from behind them instead of placing the food in front of them. I've been here in the area a week now and the place I'm told I "must try" has been the worst restaurant experience I've visited so far. Maybe it's just a bad day for the entire staff, I can't say for sure, but it's obvious they are way above their head in service. I wouldn't come back to this establishment! read more

My husband and I had dinner here and we thought the atmosphere and service was great. My shrimp and scallops came with 6 shrimp and 3 of the tiniest scallops I have ever seen for a price tag of $28. Sides were a tiny spoonful of mashed potatoes and 5 asparagus spears. My husband ordered the Stuffed Red Snapper which we both thought was tasty but the sides were again only 5 tiny asparagus spears and some jasmine rice for $30. Drinks are expensive as well. I ordered some frozen drink they advertised for $12 and it came in a little plastic cup. In summary, we spent $60 plus tax and tip just for our 2 meals and the portion sizes were tiny, especially for the price. We liked the atmosphere and service so we might try it again and just order an appetizer and drinks next time. read more
