Ambiance: 5/5. An OCMD staple. Great live music. Great location. Service: 5/5. Perhaps the greatest part is getting served ON THE BEACH! Taylor is so friendly and reliable. Food & Drinks: 3/5. The prices are steep for average/below average food. The drinks are good but expensive. Would recommend coming for happy hour (2 for 1 special) to help your pockets out. Overall: come here for the vibes and beach service. The food/drinks are typical beach bar staples but very expensive. Regardless, it still earns a 5/5 since you cant find a better beach bar in the city.

Wonderful experience!! Drinks were amazing!! Happy hour was a blast! Def gotta try It if you didn't get!

Best Happy Hour on the beach. We enjoy the 2 for 1 drink specials on the beach while listening to good music. They have good appetizers and quick friendly service. Look forward to Apres beach every year at Coconuts.

We had the most amazing time here with friends. We got to sit at the high table in the sand. Our server was Abby and she was very friendly, nice, and she provided us with amazing service. I got the bucket of raspberry lemonade and it was delicious. We also got the mahi sandwiches and they were amazing. It was a cool vibe with live music and a fun time!

Super cool spot right next to the ocean. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food came out super quick. Extensive tropical drink menu.

The best happy hour spot! You cannot beat the 2 for 1 drinks from 5-6 PM daily. We got there around 4:30 to grab a table, and our server was super friendly and efficient. They also had live music, and we enjoyed being right next to the beach. We didn't stay for dinner, but all of the food we saw on other tables looked really good, too!

Great food and fun environment. The buffalo chicken wrap and kale caesar salad were awesome. Julia our server was super real and attentive to our table. The security guy continuously stared at us the entire time. Very uncomfortable to have someone what feels like accusing you of underage drinking without saying it. Our family wanted to enjoy our time and we were constantly stalked. The security only lingered and watched our table. Will leave picture of him

We only went here to see a band I was eager to see and someone I know said they love Coconuts. I also have passed by for years and always wanted to check out the beach bar. So to start, there is NO signage to direct you from the parking lot to the restaurant) bar. If it wasn't for us being late to hear the start up for the band, we only followed the music to figure out how to get to the bar. You do have to check-in with a hostess to get seated for the restaurant and if you want to drink at the bar, they require a pre check of your ID to get aa wristband that you are of-age to drink. Actually a great way to do it since it seems like this place could get a little hectic as it's overly popular with their 2for1 drink happy hour. There's lots of security who are well marked in bright tshirts and they keep an eye on patrons and are helpful when needed. I'm not used to it, but smoking seems to be allowed because it's all outdoors and I was happy that the customers behind us who did smoke were there for a short time period, otherwise we might have needed to move. Thankfully the band we wanted to see was awesome as the food was 50-50. I enjoyed my buffalo chicken wrap, not to rave over it, but it was a bar food sandwich. My husband had the crispy chicken club and was very disappointed. When I asked, "how's your sandwich" he answered "terrible"! I rarely hear that, so sad that his choice wasn't good. It was a small piece of chicken for the price and not even sure if he had 2 slices of bacon because it was smothered with cheese to not ID it. The chicken was hard coated with a very thick crust and his comment back was he hoped not to break a tooth. Pepsi products are served here, so that was to our liking. Again, if we ever return, it would only be to see an exceptional band we know and probably skip food, though it was recommended by our waitress to try the coconut shrimp or rockfish fingers. Maybe I'd try them to see if anything was redeeming here. I think this is more a place to get 2 for 1 cocktails which is probably a bargain and maybe after 2- drinks, maybe the food would taste better, lol!

    Dineing inside the sand

The food was okay, the burgers tasted basic, the shrimp was a bit skimpy but the mozzarella sticks were massive and the wings weren't too good either. Although service was fine. The ambiance wasn't too great, the mouse kept running all over, employees failed to tell us that, the price was high and kids were playing tag and continued to run and run and run around my table yelling.

A few family members and I stopped in to grab a couple drinks a few days ago. When we first arrived we grabbed a round from the bar and then stood to the side as we waited for a table. After hanging out and having a few drinks, the line at the bar got ridiculously long. We also had not received a text for a table yet. This bar had a very young crowd and although they serve food I did not see anyone with food on their table in the area where we were standing. The wait for a table can be extensive as it looks like most people park there simply to drink for hours and hours. I would like to come back at a different time and give their menu a try but this time wasn't ideal.

Stopped for happy hour on the usual junket for the Jimmy Litz 2019. My bud Jordan's step mom is a bartender so this is usually a stop one night of our trip. What is really cool about this place is that it is outdoor, and it butts right up to the beach and you can have drinks sent to the beach and order them. Only place Oceanside that does it acc to James. Their happy hour is A+, starting at 5 and ending at 6pm - 2 drinks for the price of 1. Incredible. We put away a small lake of drinks and headed out. Bartenders are friendly and courteous - and when you order a drink you get two with the deal during HH The only goofy part is the location of the restrooms which are down stairs and through a buffet place.

Ambience is really nice, and so is the live music, but the happy hour drinks were weak and it felt more like a 1 for 1 than a 2 for 1.

SO, we decided we had the time, we were hungry & nearby, so we made our way to what is now called Whiskers Saloon. We were greeted warmly by Jay who was manning both the bar and customers at tables. We took some time to peruse the 2 page menu looking for both old favorites and what's new. I decided to try one of my usual sandwiches, The Rachel for comparison sake & added Sweet potato fries (additional upgrade). I asked & was happy the special spicy sauce I loved to combine with the fries was still available under a different name, Texas sauce. I will say, my sandwich was much better than in "the old days" because this was made with actual carved turkey thick slices as opposed to thin cold cut turkey from prior ownership. I was a happy camper! My hubby tried something new to him at Whiskers, he had a chicken cheesesteak sub and was pleasantly surprised and impressed to find it was not finely chopped up chicken, but cut up grilled chicken chunks with nicely sautéed onions. We were happy to return, pleased to find that good quality & taste was still there and its what we were used to after almost 15 years of frequenting here. We were happy to see Commanders game & flag displayed for this Sunday game with many fans inside boisterously enjoying the game playingon all the tvs. All day specials were going on today and Jay told us everything they were offering on the specially priced menu which was a nice extensive list of bar food and drinks, including $3 Yeungling.

Many of the restaurants in OC lean very touristy or very local. Either way, you often feel like an outsider and tend to be treated that way. At least three couples at the bar out of five gave us side-eyed views, then whispered like the kids in second grade do. Whatever. We sat at the bar and the bartender, who looked to had been there since the place opened, took about 10 minutes to get to us. She wasn't busy and nobody was ordering anything, she was just at the other end of the bar... pondering life? Anyway, we eventually got our beers and sat down at a wobbly, sticky table by the door. The place is quiet as a cemetery and there really isn't much to look at. There is a diner set up on the other side of the room which was completely empty, thus contributing to the overall ambiance. A few minutes later another couple walked in and sat down at the bar. They asked the bartender a question I didn't hear and she replied "I don't know nothing about nothing." Then she walked away. A group of four walked in, each of them having some severe medical ailment, and slowly scanned the place with squinted eyes. One of them said through a few layers of phlegm "They got sandwiches over here," and they all proceeded to maneuver their walkers in the direction of the diner side. We left about 30 seconds afterwards. I give it 2 stars for the entertainment value it has but that's all you'll find worth checking out.
