Though I've been to the Whalers Village and Waikiki locations countless times, I really love the Wailea location. The shop is always so well organized, staff friendly and welcoming, and honestly I even appreciate the fact that they tuck your receipt into a little black envelope (those special little touches do make a difference!). I don't think I have ever left this shop without purchasing something: from the most lovely island-inspired throw pillow cases to seasonal decor, and from the most amazing housewares or kitchenwares to keepsakes and Hawaiian souvenirs. They seem to have it all, and I often wish I would outfit my entire house in SOHA everything! For all you parents or people looking for gifts for kids, they even have a lot of adorable merchandise just for the keiki (Hawaiian for kiddos). Most of it was pretty expensive, they had some amazing reclaimed wood picture frames that I just loved, in shades of blue and green but I was seriously not going to be shelling out $90-100 for a frame that I'd have to lug home dammit. But they also had some small fun stuff that was easily packable and didn't break the bank. I left with a cool handmade Hawaiian 'baby neck positioner' so that our kid's contorted sleeping positions while in the stroller wouldn't give him neckal tunnel, and a few pairs of handmade earrings for my Mom and sister. So a couple weeks ago we went into the store, cause we where "in town" and the young sales girl was super friendly, I explained that I never got a return phone call, she took down my information again, even saying "oh I remember you calling" and still weeks after our visit, STILL NO PHONE CALL!! I just don't get it! I was born and raised here and I want to shop local but I guess I'll have to shop local somewhere else!! Your loss Hue, it was gonna be a big remodeling project.

That was a bargain! However, looking through the store, as I remember from last time, everything is pretty pricey. There was a used tablecloth (was the same mud cloth table covering from Mama's Fish House) and they wanted $12 for it. I would have spent $4 for the fabric, but not $12. I went to the markdown rack and I pulled out a dress and it was marked down half from $300. They had lovely things, but I don't shop for high end clothing. If you like expense things that you can get a bit cheaper, then this is the place for you. The clerk was very sweet. And I am happy with my dress!! I'm sure when we are in Kihei in the future I'll still stop by there. Who knows I might find another bargain!
