If you like quieter beaches, then this place is perfect. However, be prepared. I don't recommend it for poor swimmers or families with young children. For the most part, there are hardly any lifeguards. We saw some by the pier and one more stand about a mile from there. Two people drowned in rip tides the day we arrived- 4-14-26. There were also no public bathrooms that we saw. There were no concessions except by the pier. The sand was covered with seaweed or kelp the entire time we were there, so no one is maintaining the beach. Putting all of that aside, the water was beautiful. Different shades of blue, and a nice, refreshing temperature for April.
I decided to head to the beach early for a few hours before the crowds came. It was a short walk from the beach entrance to the water itself. There were lifeguards on duty in the area that we sat in. Chair and umbrella rentals were available. No restrooms available on the beach. Nearest public restroom was across the street in the parking garage. 90 minute free street parking available or pay to park in a garage or lots.

Cocoa is the closest beach from my house. I live in east Orlando and it takes about 45-60 minutes to get there. Decided to come today to walk along the soft sand and the water but mostly to enjoy the nice weather. It wasn't crowded at all which I appreciate so much. When we come, we park across from the main entrance to Patrick AFB. We just like the presence of military being so close by. It just reminds us of the time when we were stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. The beach is really clean but the restrooms if there are any, is non-existent. I had to hold it in until we left to stop at a local grocery store before the long drive home. I didn't see any showers around either by where we parked. So if you plan on coming out this way, bring your own water jugs to rinse the sand off your feet. I saw a man and his family doing that and thought it was a great idea for our next trip out here.

We walked down the Pier to the end to stop at Rikki Tiki Tavern and enjoy a drink and enjoy the fabulous ocean view! So beautiful! The beach was flat for easy walking and very clean. The beach is on the Atlantic Ocean side so the beach has lots of waves and at times it can be rough. It was heavily raining the day we arrived in Cocoa Beach, but given that it's Florida the sky cleared pretty quickly. We walked here across the street, to a short pathway with palm trees, that led us to the beach. The sand is soft, and there is plenty of it. This is a six mile beach. There is plenty of spots to lay down your towel. The tide was low, I've heard this is a good surfing beach. Convenient, since there is a surf shop just a short walk from the beach. It wasn't very busy the day I was here, probably due to the heavy downpour just moments earlier. You can rent your beach umberalla and beach chairs. They also have restrooms and showers. This beach is clean, and the water was refreshing.
Came here with some family about two weeks ago and was very surprised on how clean and how much space was available. Life guards were on duty and no jellyfish fish in site and the water was clean and cold but not too cold to swim in after being burnt in the sun. I definitely would come back to pay a visit when it's warmer outside.
The beaches at Cocoa Beach are wide, clean and most of them free to the public. The city of Cocoa beach offers 6 miles of Atlantic Ocean beaches with excellent access by foot or by car with plenty of parking lots right on by the beach entrances. Within the city limit you will find 3 oceanfront parks with restrooms, showers and picnic tables, making it easy for most people to enjoy the waves, the sun and the sand. If you are not big on the ocean, but more of a calmer waters person, then you can opt for tours of the Banana River Lagoon by boat or kayak. Just a nice relaxing area to enjoy any type of water sports.
One of my favorite beaches on the east side of Florida, Beautiful Cocoa Beach!!! Loved everything about it, and if you didn't know it is dog friendly, and alcohol friendly haha. You can drink on the beach just no glass bottles are allowed. Parking was very easy to access, you can park on the street meters per hour or on the garage. ($3.50 per hour OR $20 the entire day). The umbrella and chairs rentals are $30 umbrella and $15 each chair. The parking garage has showers and bathrooms that are extremely clean so you rinse off before you exit. Overall, calm atmosphere with some crazy waves (surfer capital in Florida!!!) and cute beach town with bars, restaurants, and mom and pop shops all around.
Beautiful clean beach. Lifeguard towers, restaurants along the beach, lots of free parking & a perfect place to spend the day. Cocoa Beach is a city on Florida's Space Coast, known for its beaches, surfing & proximity to the Kennedy Space Center. This beach is super fun and large. So many cute little shops. Some volleyball nets, and a gorgeous sunset. Also very family friendly. read more

I loved it even I found a stale poop in the water but it is nice go. but don't leave your mouth open in the water because poop might fall in you never know. read more

A humongous clean beach area. From the water's edge to the vegetation it has to be several hundred feet. I'd say a hundred feet of damp sand to sit and lay out on, then another 50 feet of dry sand to the top of the leveled off area. Pick any numbered street and head east to find parking for the beach. It is self pay. We paid $12 for 3.5 hrs. I saw plenty of parking at each street. The beach is pet friendly. Folks were surf fishing, riding bikes, surfing, and swimming. Our girls played with their body boards, dug for little crabs, made sand castles and collected shells. It always amazes me how loud the surf is when the waves crash. The views are incredible. Beach front condos were all only 4 stories high in this area (12th to 16th street). read more
We found a great dog friendly beach spot at 14th and S. Atlantic. I had been reading on their website to go btw 4th Street South to north side of Murkshe Park. So we went to Murkshe Park which right away had a sign no dogs. (Of course, I saw two pups lol). So we went two streets over and found the spot. It even said entering a dog friendly beach. This area had two aisles of parking and it was $2.50 an hour. Pay at the meter or Passport Parking which is an app or the website. The app wouldn't work for me which I just used it last week in Ft. Myers so we payed w/ our cc. It's until 7pm for meter. The trek to the beach is hard with the type of sand, but this beach was nice and chill. The water was pretty. I went in once, but Cocoa Beach has the rap for sharks, so I only went in once. It was still quick nice and chill and relaxing like I love a beach. Without tons of people and no cigarette smoke in my breathing area. read more

I definitely was on board, although I don't surf I did leave my footprints Walking the shore gazing at the stars listening to the ocean waves There's nothing quite like a night time walk on the beach barefoot on a breezy night feeling tranquility This beach is on the Florida's Space Coast, in one of the nicest beach towns in Florida. The world-famous Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier is located about a mile away and is worth visiting as well. No matter if it's morning, noon, or night this beach is clean with a cool vibe with hotel waterfront views. read more

Truly this beach was worth the drive and the 10 thousand tolls to and from Orlando. The sand was nice and soft, the beach was clean. The water temperature was amazing for 10:30am. My son's first time at the beach and he loved it. The water had a pretty color from the pier. There were tons of shops and food/bev also on the pier. I loved that the shower to rinse off on is right at the end of the beach before the parking lot. & The umbrellas and chairs you can rent right in front of the water is super convenient and I think the price is a good deal. I would love to return here. Would also like to mention I came in September the Saturday before Hurricane Ian. Still perfect. read more
We had originally planned to stay in Cocoa Beach for a few days pre-cruise, but since we didn't, we made a point of stopping by. There was a lot of construction when we arrived, so it was a bit of a challenge to cross the street. We had running shoes on, so we didn't have an opportunity to actually walk on the beach. The boardwalk was shorter than we thought, but we did see some cruise ships in the far off distance! The area seemed a bit run down imo, but we were pressed for time, and kept our visit short. We would have loved to see the legendary Cocoa Beach Pier, and will definitely have to do that next time. Note: Visit was pre-COVID 19 closures read more
Take me... take me to the water, Summertime, Summertime Let's be honest, you can't be that close to the ocean without taking some time to appreciate it. So we stopped and took a walk along the sandy beach and enjoyed the moment. Port Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center were nearby the beach. Parking was a little hard to find but we got lucky and found $2.50/hr parking close to the entrance. There is a pay station where we used our credit card to pay (pay by entering the space number). Entrance to the beach was free. Cocoa Beach is a really nice beach, no car traffic, family friendly and huge. The water was comfortably warm and it was nice walking in the soft sand. We found it interesting to find yellow warning signs to not disturb the Sea Turtle nests. Leatherback, green, and loggerhead sea turtles are all known to nest on or near Cocoa Beach. Yup, don't mess with the sea turtles! It's the Florida law. Big fines!! Some of the older ocean front condos or vacation rental homes facing the beach look like something out of the 60's from afar. The sun was pretty intense when we were there. I suggest a hat. There were a lot of people enjoying the sand and water but since the beach is so big it looks sparse... anyway, it was a nice break for us after 5 days in the Orlando amusement parks. On a whim we decided to take a trip to "see a real beach" with our two kids. We visited a different FL beach the day before but this one was my children's favorite. For the most part, this beach is well manicured and there are lifeguards in a pretty large designated section. We rented boogie boards from the nicest woman and her daughter. This isn't a touristy beach so beware that restrooms and N/A drinks were nowhere to be found. I'm not sure if this is due to it being off-season or if it's typical to be bare of frills. There is a great restaurant right off the beach so we went for an early dinner once the kids were nice and tired from tide jumping. read more

We love to walk at the beach i being coming here for over 10 years now and never get tired to step on the Atlantic Ocean warm waters nice breeze. Wish we could come more often. read more
Beautiful beach, lots to do, but super touristy. By far the busiest and most full beach we've came across since moving to Florida. Busier then Daytona with less beach area. Sand is super soft, waves are more chill (this beach was dredged and groomed years ago), and many more birds flying around (from the restaurant scraps most likely). Tons of fun to be had here with volleyball and other beach fun. read more

This is a nice, long beach on the Space Coast, with lots of sand and even some moderate waves. It's unfortunately, in my view at least, just down the road from the Versailles of Ron Jon, in all its glitzy glory. But, the beach itself seemed relaxed. They had a nice little basket on the way in where you could take or leave sand toys. This was much appreciated as we came with nothing. I especially enjoyed a little drive down the peninsula afterwards. The inlet side is very lovely. read more
Loved loved loved this beach. The beach is clean, sand is powdery soft, tons of shells to hunt for, water is crystal clean. We stayed at the La Quinta inn ocean front. My review is within my list of reviews and highly recommend staying there. So there were really nice walkouts with direct access to the beach. There is a fishing pier that also had a bar and restaurant attached too. read more
I went to visit Cocoa Beach for part of the Fourth of July weekend with my partner. I love the beach by the Atlantic! We were able to social distance and had fun swimming in the water. We walked the beach and collected shells too. We found a nice public lot that was down one of the aide streets. There was about 6 spots at the lot. The location was great and the parking spot was convenient to the beach entrance. We will definitely be back to Cocoa Beach. If you are on the East Coast of Florida definitely check out Cocoa Beach! read more

I grew up overseas and have traveled all over the world, I know my beaches. Cocoa Beach is the perfect beach town! Beautiful white sand, warm water. Not overly crowded. You can lay on the beach to catch some rays, surf and jet ski to catch some waves. A pier for fishing. Hotels, restaurants within feet of the sand. Absolutely great vacation spot! read more

Cocoa Beach is the closet beach to Orlando so we visit often. The sand is off white and course near the water. The water is beautiful and it is not unusual to see dolphins nearby. The beach is usually not crowded and swimming is very enjoyable. They have lifeguard areas with posted hours and ample parking if you arrive early. It is legal to drink alcohol while on the beach as long as everything is in plastic. No glass allowed. There is plenty of space for surfing, boogie boards and other fun activities. You can load up your umbrellas and chairs and bring them with you or rent your essentials on the beach. read more

Cocoa Beach provided a nice relaxing site for a family reunion. Got a chance to spend some time on the beach for 4th of July and the family had an awesome time. This is definitely a tourist town set up for a good time for the family. All I can think about the whole time was I dream of Jeannie I swear they were based out of Cocoa Beach read more

Does anyone know if they offer umbrella and beach chair rentals at Cocoa beach?
Yes! I would recommend the minutemen causeway entrance. There is always a vendor there and coconuts on the beach is right there! Food, drinks, bathrooms, and live music all right on the sand! Enjoy!
Can you fish there?
I haven't fished there yet, but I believe you can at the pier
Are there taxis available at the beach to return to cruise ships at port canaveral?
No idea, I had a car, although I would imagine you can Uber or Lyft almost anywhere in the USA
