Cherie Down Park is a great beach option. The beach itself is beautiful, the parking is easily accessible and close to the beach, and it's such a cool experience being able to see the cruise ships heading out. A peaceful, enjoyable place to spend the day.

Gotta love free parking for a day at the beach! Cherie Down Park is our go-to spot for calm beach days lately. There is a good sized parking area (which gets filled up on sunny weekends!), it has bathrooms, a small outdoor shower for rinsing off, and some shade. Oh yeah, and fabulous direct access to a beautiful beach! A few things to note: - Dogs aren't allowed on Cape Canaveral beaches. They have a few small signs. - Though there's lots of room for parking, the lot gets filled up, so either arrive early (weekends), or drive a few streets down for some ancillary small beach access points where you'll find a few more public parking spaces. Overall, a great beach and entrypoint where you'll see surfers and you won't have to worry too much about overcrowding (like you might at the college-kid-filled Cocoa Beach).

My favorite place and closest to drive to to watch the sunrise

This is only 45mins drive for me. It's my favorite place to go to see the sunrise and spend the mornings. I really wish it was a dog friendly park. In the mornings, except holidays, it's usually empty. It's a very clean beach and well maintained. Easy to find parking, but that's in the morning. I haven't visited outside of the mornings, but I plan to. I suggest you get there early. I usually go down the street for breakfast afterwards.

Cherie Down Park is a seven acre beach front park that has picnic areas and a 200ft boardwalk. There are grills, clean bathrooms and an outdoor shower. The parking lot is free and fills up quickly during peak season. The beach area is clean and family friendly. This is a great place to watch the cruise ships or a space launch.

When a best friend says let's hit the beach, this is the one we're bound to go to due to it being close-ish and a nice spot to head to. Left at 9am and after around 45 minutes from Orlando we got to Cherie Down Park, found a parking spot, unpacked the seats and my umbrella to a place around 20 feet from the water. The sand and beach were nice and clean, there were not a lot of folks out there yet and no one had a blaring radio which would overwhelm the sounds of seagulls and waves. I plopped my little umbrella, over did the sunscreen and sat down for a bit before hiding beneath my umbrella. I am not a sun goddess looking to sit out there for hours and turn into a tanned lady and being able to keep beneath my shade is perfect. It was a windy day but it was a fun time to be outside. Did not bother going into the water but there were a handful of more daring folks willing to.

This is my family's go-to beach in Florida. It is just down the way from Cocoa Beach, without the same crowds, tourism, and shopping/eating options. The beach is always clean and well maintained. The 2 well maintained parking lots are pretty small, so the only downside is finding a spot on a busy day. There are bathrooms- about as clean as you would expect from a public bathroom... and open showers outdoors to wash your feet off, or your head and shoulders. The beach is fun to play on, relax on, and you can even see a cruise ship out in the distance every once in a while. These pictures are from our last trip as a big southern storm was rolling in.

If you're looking for free beachside parking in addition to showers and restrooms in Cape Canaveral, Cherie Down Park's got your back. I've never had trouble finding a parking spot and the bathrooms are relatively clean. What more could one ask for?

It is located right along the Banana River between Port Canaveral and Ron Jon's. The entire property is well-kept and manicured. It features a nice paved walking and jogging path for a workout or a peaceful stroll. Between the walking path and the river there is a covered walkway with pavilions that stretch along the water's edge. While manatee sightings can be hit or miss, the general peace and the chance to spot other creatures like dolphins and wading birds make a trip to this location worthwhile. Right off the parking lot, a fun detail that adds character to the park is the very nice statue of turtles. Taller than an average person. The park provides a good size parking lot that can comfortably fit about 25 cars, which is a huge plus, ensuring easy access even during slightly busier times. While the park does have bathrooms, they were unfortunately not the cleanest on the day of my visit. OVerall, Manatee Sanctuary Park is a nice place for visitors looking for beautiful scenery, and excellent paths for exercise. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing outdoor escape.

A nice park to the north of Manatee Sanctuary Park If you…read moreliked Manatee Sanctuary Park, just keep going north like 3-4 minutes by car (or a little longer if you're walking) and you can find Banana River Park. It is basically the next little spot up the road on the same side of the river. The day I visited it was not busy and was clean. They've got a cute little dock on the north end where I stood when i visited and watched a couple manatees swimming within about 30 feet of the dock for easily a quarter of an hour. There's a big open soccer field up on the north end but just south of the little dock. It has actual goals if you ever feel like kicking a ball around. There is structure at the south end in front of the parking lot with bathrooms and a few tables that is open on 3 sides facing teh water and the park. It's a really nice park, but there's no real trail or long walkway along the water like at Manatee Sanctuary. It's more just grass, a few benches, and that dock. So if you're in the mood for a longer walk or that covered boardwalk vibe, stick with Manatee Sanctuary. But if you just wanna park, walk 30 seconds to the dock, and probably see manatees hanging out, Banana River Park is awesome for that. I'd hit both in the same morning!

The beach is just right through the sea grapes hedge and the beach is gorgeous! You never find any trash left on the beach and everyone picks up after themselves. People are able to surf out there. Lots of families and lifeguards on duty. Prices are reasonable and you get a veteran discount. On some things, souvenir items, they're a little expensive because this is a tourist town. You can watch the huge cruise ships leave port from the campground. You can ride in a helicopter. There airplane tours. There is always a cool breeze by the temperature of the water and it always is a bit windy, which makes it very pleasant. We will continue to come here year after year as our 30+ camping partners will do and have done for many years. It's peaceful, no one is ever loud or disrespectful. The staff members are very helpful and nice. They have two new gift shops, fully stocked with things you might need. Grocery stores are nearby too. We had lunch at the campground. The food was good, just a bit dry. The deco is great too. And, we were lucky enough to watch an awesome launch of Elon's rockets going up! I'll load a few short videos if possible. Our group of campers highly recommend Jetty Park campground and we will definitely continue to come back.
