I recently went here with my mother after a trip to the Big E on our way home. I mostly picked this place because of the great yelp reviews. It's located in a somewhat drab plaza with a gas station and a hair salon. The place used to be a pizza joint. We ordered a starter of crispy tofu and I got the pad thai, a trusty staple. That being said, the food was fabulous. I feel like the most recommended thai place in the area is The Blue Elephant Trail in West Hartford and, in my opinion, Coco Thai Kitchen is much better. The noodles aren't sticky, there is a perfect combo of egg/tofu/peanuts/sauce. The prices are reasonable. The service was prompt and excellent. At the end of the meal they serve orange slices with the bill. So what's not to like? The actual interior of the restaurant. The tables/chairs look like they came out of a children's set. I wasn't expecting trendy, but everything about the decor is lacking. Maybe I should have way lowered my expectations based on it's location. I recommend calling ahead and picking up and eating in the comfort of your own home. That being said, it's definitely worth a try. read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: On July 26, 2020, I placed an online order through Chow Now. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order, I was informed that one of the items I ordered was not available. I was told that I would be refunded for that item within 3 - 5 business days. When I got home, I realized that the other item in my order was incorrect. I ordered drunken noodles and was given drunken chicken. I called the restaurant and was told that I would be refunded for that item also in 3 - 5 days. I did not have to wait 3 - 5 days and I noticed immediately that the refund for the drunken noodles had been issued. After a week I called and was told that the refund had been issued but give them another couple of days. When that time period past, I was told that the manager would call me. It is now August 15, 2020 and still no refund and no call from the manager. I called Chow now to see if they could help with getting the refund issued. Then mysteriously while I am on hold with Chow now, someone (not the manager) calls to tell me they issued the refund, it should be there in 3 - 5 business days. Apparently, CHOW NOW sent the restaurant an email to verify that the refund should be issued and the restaurant never responded which held up my refund. This is the worst customer service experience. What if I never checked on this? And although the food is usually pretty good, since they have gone to a complete pick up and take out service during quarantine, the portions are smaller and the flavor is not always the best. read more

You would never imagine such a highly raved Thai place to be in the corner of a tiny plaza next to the gas station but.... here's Coco!... just thriving on its own! This place was A LOT smaller than we had anticipated. It only had roughly 6 tables... 3 2-seaters and 3 up to 4 seater tables. It was packed when we got there but luckily, there was 1 table open for us to be seated quickly. Service: don't get me wrong, the lady working the front is soooooo sweet but Jesus, HIRE ONE MORE PERSON. She was drowning! She was running around trying to get everything. All 6 tables were filled, the phone for to go orders were NONSTOP ringing, there was a line to the front door of people wanting to order take out/ pick up take out/ get seated, and she's serving and cleaning and cashiering... omg poor girl was apologizing to every customer for the delay. So yes, service was freakingggggggggg slow but server was 100% trying her best and was absolutely sweet. Food: super good. Came out piping hot and the portion was huge!! I got the pad see u (literally how they spelled it on their menu loll) and boyfriend and friend both got lemongrass chicken drunken noodle? Something like that. That plate was gigantic... absolutely packed with lots of delicious food! The only thing I wanna was sad about was that yes, the pad see u was big, but not enough chicken and broccoli. Too bad the service is so terrible otherwise it would be 5*! My son and I went in for lunch today. We weren't greeted at the door and finally flagged someone down to get seated. Mind you, there were only 5 other tables seated so it's not like they were busy. After we sat it took another short while before the server came over. After we placed our order the food came out in a timely manner so I give them credit there. Now the only reason we would come back is for the food. THE FOOD was sooo good! It tasted fresh and well made. Chef gets . Then we waited and waited for napkins and the check and three boxes. He brought the boxes but no bag. I guess I should carry 3 to-go containers out in my arms with my small child? Anyway I asked for a bag............... finally, I just got up and got the bag myself and left. I still left a decent tip as I'm not a monster but shout out to the owners, food is only half of the restaurant experience you are selling here. Service is the other half. Few other mentions. 1.) the place is beautiful! Well appointed decor and clean 2.) that girl you have working the front/bar, as your first impression, I would encourage her to be more friendly, or just friendly in general. Seriously why have I waited so long to review you Coco Thai?!?! Maybe its because other thai places have let me down after the honeymoon phase, leaving me jaded...anyhow back to the topic at hand. Always delicious, prompt service, and an expansive menu that excels on several fronts. Staff/Ambiance: They're in the same parking lot as a gas station and hair salon. Though their building is quaint their menu is quite the opposite. They have seating for less than 16 people. Most people gravitate towards takeout rather than sitting down, which we've done on several occasions. but some dishes don't translate as well as if you'd eaten piping hot. One thing to note is they keep it pretty damn chilly so come armed with a sweater just in case. Food: Mostly highs, the only thing I'm not a fan of is their Tom Yum Soup. Way way too salty, it really kills any other flavor that would've come through otherwise. Their coconut and wonton soup are both quite good so definitely stick to those if in the mood for soup. Their pad thai is very flavorful/authentic and they do a good job of modifying the spice level for various pallets. I'm a big fan of any dish of theirs that contains yellow curry. So flippin delicious! My favorite is their Roti Canai appetizer which is a thai style crepe with a yellow curry dipping sauce. This one needs to be enjoyed at the restaurant or reheated in the oven to recrisp it if transported home. The crepe is crunchy, sweet, buttery and quite the star by itself but paired with the sauce it's divine. Bottom Line: My favorite overall Thai cuisine in Western MA (yes I know its in CT). Do yourself a solid and head there for lunch or dinner next time you're looking for takeout or somewhere new to eat. read more

This is the worst Thai food I think I've ever had. My dumplings were insanely soggy, they broke apart to the point I couldn't hold them to dunk them into my sauce. I had to pour the sauce on them and spoon pieces of them into my mouth. I also got a noodle dish with extra crispy tofu. I took one bite of tofu and it was not crispy at all, oil poured into my mouth and it tasted like straight fish! It was so gross I literally gagged. I'm not a picky eater at all. For god sakes I'll eat spighettios from a can cold. But I couldn't stomach this food. I don't have much money so I don't like to waste food but I couldn't even suck it up and eat this food. Tried coco thai the other night as its one of my friends favorite spots in there area to eat! The thai tea was delicous and i am craving more! The orange chicken was great, big piece of chicken with great texture and the sauce was perfect! She got the yellow curry which was great as well! I've Been going to coco Thai for about a solid year or two because I felt the food was far better quality and in general wayyy more unique than the other eatery options in the area but unfortunately the meals I've enjoyed at Coco Thai have come to an end for now based on a recent meal I had from them. The meal consisted of chicken Red curry, shrimp basil fried rice, and a fried squid appetizer. The red curry was As good as expected; however, the other two were not as the shrimp basil fried rice I paid for was actually chicken instead of shrimp and the Fried squid looked/tasted like something you'd find out of the frozen section at your local Walmart. I'd expect this ordering take out from a nasty Americanized Chinese or pizza restaurant, but after eating great quality food at Coco Thai for sometime this really caught me off guard; I felt like for what I paid, I was absolutely hosed. Our first time was amazing! Tried the veggie dumplings as an appetizer and were thoroughly impressed by both the dumplings and their sauce. I had the drunken lemongrass chicken and it was superb - not too spicy, juicy, and a great amount of food for the price. My girlfriend had the noodle soup and requested a spicy level of 4/5 - her lips were happily numbed after the meal! The restaurant itself is easy to find, small, but nicely decorated and very open. There was nobody there to greet us when we walked in, and the hostess didn't come out for at least 5-7 minutes. Decent quaint tiny place in Suffield. The "drunken chicken" (gra prao at other places) is minced chicken with veggies in a hot basil sauce and is delicious.....HOWEVER.... there was hardly any chicken!! It literally needed double the chicken that they served it with to meet what I would say is minimum requirement. Being short on chicken also makes it very pricey for what you get. Ive received 3x the amount of chicken for $2 less for this dish at other places. The chicken satay app was delicious. These skewers of marinated tender juicy chicken were served with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce. This place definitely doesn't have a grill so skewers are broiled but they came out perfect. They were also thickly cut pieces of meat and there may have been 8 of them in the order. There was a lot of meat in the app but the main dish was short. Be warned, this place doesn't seem to have a bathroom. The Valero in the same plaza did not have one either. Side note of hilarity - while there, a couple came in and told the waitress that they could not have peanuts or fish sauce in their meal preparation. Its a THAI restaurant. There is fish sauce and peanuts in pretty much EVERY DISH! Part of me wanted to stick around and see what happened to them LOL. Why were you even in a thai restaurant?!?! However because this restaurant has so much potential I will write this review and hope they will read it and make adjustments. I have to agree with the review by Anderson R. I have here at least 6 times and the first 3 times everything was stellar however last three times not so much. I noticed the last three times were on Fridays so I'm thinking there must be a different chef on Friday evenings. The customer service is excellent but the food execution not so much. read more

I appreciate the growing diversity of international cuisine in the area and welcome Coco Thai to town. The menu is extensive with a lot of variety in taste and preparation style. I also think they did an excellent job with decor, especially given the location. In terms of food, I have been twice for lunch and the results were mixed. The green curry is one of the best I've ever had and the noodle/rice dishes are fantastic. Unfortunately, on the 2nd visit I was disappointed with 2 of the 3 dishes ordered. Our beef dish was very overcooked (the beef) and difficult to eat. We also had a grilled lemongrass chicken that seemed to have been grilled earlier, and then re-heated in a microwave or steamer instead of grilled fresh. I look forward to trying Coco Thai again and hope to be able to give this new restaurant a 5 star review. read more

I went here today to celebrate my "Other Bday" and I made the right decision. Very small restaurant in the same parking lot as a gas station with a yellow sign. I ordered the steamed salmon with yellow curry, white rice and crab Rangoon. The food was hearty and tasty and definitely a must try. I was so full I didn't even finish my plate which is rare. So happy that this place opened in town. For an area that can feel like it's dominated by chain restaurants, Coco Thai is exactly what we needed. Matthew and I stopped in at lunch and had the very reasonably priced specials. I went with my standard for trying any new thai place, drunken noodles and it came with 2 spring rolls and a small cup of soup. Matthew had the pad se ew with the same starters. We were both very happy with the food, service and will definitely come back more often! The place is small and tucked away in the corner of a strip but give it a try--the inside has a nice decor, a few tables and a clean kitchen with an extensive menu and nicely plated dishes! read more

Extremely glad we found a Thai Restaurant so close to home. Food is delicious, fresh, and authentic. The only thing I have a critique about is the Tom Yum soup. It's not bad, it just wasn't the flavor I'm used to. A little too sweet and not enough sourness or spice. However, that's all very minor compared to the main dishes we had last night. Unfortunately, this was a true Jekyll and Hyde experience. We ordered the Crab Rangoons, Spring Rolls, Thai wings, Pad See U, and Gravy Noodles. We were going to be eating in our vehicle, so we ordered it to go, which also meant we didn't have to worry about the fact that this place only has three tables. Pros: Very clean appearance, friendly customer service, definite professional air. Spring Rolls and Thai Wings were both well executed and a pleasure to eat. Cons: The Crab Rangoons were meh at best, but I wouldn't have been able to tell you what they were without knowing first. This carried over to the Pad See U, which was very bland with dry, overcooked chicken. This chicken made an appearance in the Gravy Noodles as well, though true to it's name there was plenty of gravy. Unfortunately the flavor was still only middling. Baffingly, when served for takeout, the noodles were in one tiny foil container and the remainder of the dish was served in a large plastic container, looking like a thick soup that we didn't realize we'd ordered. The only way I could eat it was by dipping the noodles in the broth and then spearing around with my fork separately for the other components, really fracturing any harmony of the dish itself. This may be a fine place to dine in, if you can get a table, but the takeout experience left me unenthused to come back as it's the more likely scenario. read more

Absolutely loved. Came in after a long week of work and sat at a table by myself and enjoyed a fresh spring roll appetizer and a mango chicken stir fry platter with brown rice. Fresh, hot, delicious and sat in my tummy wonderfully. Pho 75 in Windsor Locks makes better fresh spring rolls (non-fried), but these were still good. Located in a weird spot in my opinion...
