My friend and I came here the other night for two massages. She had a male and I had a female. First, we both wish our masseuses would've been more clear with their directions (granted I'm not sure how much English either one spoke but then the front desk man shouldn't told us)- of what to take off and how to lay down on the table. We both laid the wrong way because the hole for your head was covered in paper. After that mishap, before we began, my masseuse never asked me what pressure I wanted or if I wanted to focus or avoid certain areas. Were they thorough and nice? Yes. Are we both extremely sore with actual bruising the next day!? Yes. Even after asking a couple of times for the masseuse to lighten the pressure, both went too hard! It hurt a lot. Definitely not the relaxing, fall asleep massage we were hoping for. We couldn't sleep the night of because our backs were in so much pain but nevertheless, we do feel less tight and our knots were taken out. But beware this massage is deep deep tissue and super strong!! We will probably feel great in a few days but will not go back there as it's not my preferred massage method. There is metered street parking and paid parking garages. We paid to park in a garage $5 for 2 hours. Then you walk down creepy, steep stairs and enter the place. The place itself was clean. The body massages take place in cubicle like walls with curtains in front (that were sometimes left open when the masseuse went to get something!) which was fine except there were many different noises heard from other customers. This spot is way too no-frills, no-nonsense to be considered a spa. It's actually quite deceiving. It's not modern. I did not hear waterfalls, birds chirping, or any relaxing soundtracks that spas usually play. But its prices can't be beat, and the guys do some amazing foot rubs! They have approx 12 seats for foot massages, where you soak your feet in wooden water bucket prior to your massage. There is approx. 10-12 rooms for full body massage; you could request couple room. You could request have male or female masseuse and the front desk person speak English. Do reserve an appointment before coming , as they are pretty busy on the weekend. They also have spa package deal : buy five body massage and get 1 free for $150; approx $25 per a 1 hour session. 1 hr and 1 hr foot session goes for $45. I generally tip $8-$10 dollars + , depending on the session. Do tip, don't be cheap as the people there work hard. I had my first massage here last week and it was awesome. (I'm already looking forward to my next visit.) I'm getting acquainted with massage/spa places in Flushing and after reading a few other yelp reviews, I decided to check out Coco Spa.   Once you walk downstairs, into the spa, you'll find it to be VERY clean and spacious. It wasn't at all what I was expecting to find. I spent the weekend in the area trying out several places and this was one of the 2places I wanted to review since my experiences were great. The staff is both friendly and Covid compliant at all times (in case that's something you were wondering about).  I was a walk-in and they were able to accommodate me right away and since I had no knowledge of who to request, I was given the next available therapist. I had 3 sessions with 3 different therapists over 5 days and they were all great. One therapist was a bit too strong for my liking, but if you like a DEEP tissue massage, Jason is your guy! Depending on the soreness of my body, I usually like medium or soft pressure, however, ALL 3 therapists were consistent and great.   If you get frequent massages in the city you'll be surprised to learn in Flushing it's customary to keep your underwear on during a session AND full body usually refers to full back (back and legs), no flipping over to get your chest worked on. My job requires a lot of heavy lifting and so sometimes I like my chest massaged, however, 4 of the 5 places I went to, focused only on the back. (Just a heads up).   Rates seem to be standard in the area as well and it's definitely worth the price. If you pay with a credit card, it's slightly higher....maybe5-6%, not much but I don't remember seeing that posted anywhere. If I wasn't planning on trying several places this week, I would probably have spent a bit more $ for a longer session. I based my tip for my session one what other reviewers said $10-$15 for the hour.  They have individual rooms and most have a curtain instead of a door, although one room I was in did have a door, you quickly forget about anything on the other side of the curtain once the therapist begins his magic.  I was pleasantly surprised at how great my sessions were and definitely would highly recommend this spa. The atmosphere is inviting and I would like to think all their services are as great as their massages. The front desk staff was fluent in English but I think English is a 2nd language for some of their staff. With that said, I did not experience any issues with the language barrier or any limited vocabulary.   They do offer both male and female therapists, however, I am always interested in learning of spas in your area with male therapists, so please hit me up with any recommendations. read more

Wow!! That was amazing! Paid 40 for a hour massage and cupping. It took me a bit to find the place since I don't speak or read Chinese but I'm glad I did. The massage was really In-depth she asked if medium was ok I said yes and almost regretted it a few times she found some extremely sore tension spots. She even got on the table a few times to work out the kinks. It was one of the best messages I have ever received. I can't say it was relaxing to the point of falling asleep but it got out all my kinks! The price is great !!! My husband and I got our feet massage and skull/shoulder rubbed for 1.5 hours for a total of $80. What a deal! Getting to this location as a bit dark and stretchy. You have to go down and then enter on the right. We came as walk in but the place seemed popular as people were coming in steadily during our massage. The only con I would say is this is not a quite place to get massages . The unoccupied workers would sit and talk to each other. One of them was eating something real loud next to us . I just moved to Flushing and I am so thankful I found this place. I had such bad pain in my neck and shoulder from how I slept 3 days ago. Its was so bad that it hurt to lift my left arm and when I bend over it felt like something was almost ripping from my ear to my chest (crazy). I went to Coco Spa and the place is nice and peaceful. I usually go for a woman to do the massage but the owner recommended a man for my appointment time so it was Jerry and he was amazing. He found every spot that was swollen and in pain and he did everything slowly and thouroughly. He even got hot stones and didnt charge more because he said I really needed it. I had THE absolute best foot/leg massage- and even better was the price! For a whole hour = $30 (that includes tip)! Yes, now we're talking! I will say though- my husband would not have rated it 5 stars- he thought they were a bit rough. I always start off any massage by asking them to go really, really softly- so that may explain the difference. And the moment they start putting too much pressure, I immediately remind them. I do have a bad knee so I'm probably a bit more cautious and speak up a lot quicker than most. With that said, they could probably ask a little more if the client is "doing ok" - just to make sure. The place was quite busy so while you can walk in (like we did), you may have to wait. The staff is very friendly and the shop is clean with minimal decor. Chairs are super comfy. They do whole busy massages but did not get on this visit. People who walked out of the private rooms seemed happy so I'll take that as a good sign! When you pass through Flushing it is difficult NOT to notice the signs advertising $25 foot massages for one whole hour. Crazy? This is a no frills place! Coco Spa is a little further away from other massage parlors in downtown Flushing. There is a small sign in the front and you have to go down the little black stairs to get to the "lobby area". The foot massage stations are immediately to your left. There are about 5 of 6 stations but only 3-4 people (mostly men) working at a time so you might have to wait. You start off with a quick soak. Nothing fancy, literally a plastic bag inside a wastebasket and some aromatic blue water (similar to what you might get during a pedicure). My masseuse didn't really communicate beforehand about what I really wanted, he basically just tested my limits...these guys can apply a LOT of pressure so stop them if anything feels uncomfortable. During your hour massage, the staff will probably chat with one another, talk about what's on TV and pretty much act like you're not there while giving you an epic foot massage. Remember this is not a fancy spa and the price and atmosphere definitely reflects it. Overall, I was really happy with my experience. After walking 13 miles in the city that day, my feet really needed the massage. They felt great the next day! read more

Coco spa is one of the best spas I've been to. I has been patronizing them since 2009 before they moved into the current location. Their therapists never fail me. While the venue is not fancy or high end, it is clean and neat. If you are looking for a great massage for a decent price ($30 or $35 per hour for back, $20 for feet), then you should try here. All the therapist are great and reliable. While some review may complain about the tipping percentage, I think it's a misunderstanding due to language barrier. Because the hourly rate is very low, the therapist mainly earn their living through tips. It's customary to tip at least $10 per hour for the massages. After all, even the chair massage in malls cost at least $1 per minute. So even with a $10 tip an hour of oil body massage is still cheaper than the chair massage. Some therapist I use there are Mr. Du, David, Mr. Wang, young and mr. li. They are all really good. read more

After sleeping on the wrong side of the bed and being unable to fully turn my head for 3 days, I was desperately in need of a full body (but specifically neck) massage. Looking around Yelp, I found Coco Spa to be the most convenient location with relatively high reviews. Coco Spa is located around the first/last stop of The Q58, or just next to the Boys Club of America. Very convenient location however very shady on the outside, as this is is a downstairs location. However, once you get inside.. the atmosphere is good and everything seems clean. The foot massages are places right at the entrance with the receptionist a little more on the inside. The receptionist spoke both English and Chinese perfectly fluently. The bathrooms are also unisex here, but confusing because there are two bathrooms in the same room. Coming on a Saturday afternoon, they were able to accommodate my sister and I within 10 minutes for an one hour full body massage and kindly gave us the option of choosing a male or female masseuse. When entering the "room," which is merely separated by curtains.. I undressed and laid face down on the bed. My masseuse then asks me if I am ready before coming in. She sets the timer once she comes in and starts with a dry rub over the towel. Then adds oil and spends most of the time focusing on my back which is something I prefer. However, the full body massage-- as you would expect, does contain the neck, back, arms, legs, feet, head. I did not have to ask my masseuse to adjust her strength, but as other reviews have said-- they all have hands of steel! The hot stones are always enjoyable as well!! After coming out, they have a nice glass of water prepared for you which I thought was a nice touch. You can choose to pay with card (and even tip in card) and pay a surcharge, or you can pay in cash and have no surcharge. They also have package deals where you can buy 5 massages and get the 6th free, unlike most places where you buy 10 massages and get the 11th and 12th free. So far, I've gotten 2 full body massages and 1 foot massage here. All have been great experiences and well worth the price I paid. Coming in, I knew not to expect much. It's in a semi-shady area and it's not in the least a "high-end" spa. But I've got to say, the space is clean the massage tables and foot massage couches are comfy and despite the slight language barrier, the customer service is great! First, I recommend you call-in and make an appointment. Next, choose your level of pain. For extra pain you can choose the biggest guy in there, but don't be fooled, all of them have hands of steel. If you're sensitive to the touch then let them know in advanced so you're not leaving the place all bruised up. Finally, you enjoy the full body massage! They DO work your entire body but put more of an emphasis on your upper/middle back. I'm sure you can request certain areas of emphasis, say if your legs are feeling tighter. Foot massages are also quite relaxing but it's definitely a different experience. You're seated near the entrance with a bunch of reclining couches lined up. I recommend you go with a friend or even a group of friends so you can converse while getting an amazing foot massage. $30/hour for a full body massage and $20/hour for a foot massage. First, let's get something straight. This place doesn't pretend to be what it's not : Some fancy spa where you're going to be overcharged for a massage that you fell asleep in the middle of because of aromatherapy and the sensation of little fairies tickling your back as you're lulled to lala-land with Enya playing in the background. This is what you get: A private, clean room with a no-nonsense masseuse (man or woman) who will squeeze the bejesus out of any kink or knot in your body. And oh, it doesn't matter if you choose a woman. The petite lady who worked on me had hands like a 400lb linebacker. But whatever she did, it got the job done. I didn't fall asleep, like I've done at previous high-end spas, but I kind of preferred that. I remembered every stress spot that was worked on during the massage. I always found it suspicious that some massage centers let you fall asleep during a massage only to hit you with a $100-$150 dollar bill at the end of a one-hour session. For $30 (excluding tip), you get a relentless masseuse whose sole mission, for all of 60 minutes, is to have you leave with the memory of her hand-print on your back. At Coco Spa, all the body works I have gotten are quite solid. Here is a list of things that you should know before coming: - Might look shady to you from the outside, but once you go down to the basement floor it is more than decent. They are clean. - Since their rate is very affordable, don't expect royal treatment, amenities or top shelf anything. And because it is affordable, tip in cash and generously. - It can be noisy, everything is separated by dry walls, not doors but curtains (except the bathroom). Most of the times the staff chat in average to low volume, the clients are the ones that talk and giggle loudly when they walk down the hallway. - The ladies give lighter massage and are bit more sensitive to your pain. The men will give a much heartier massage and tend to take a "no pain no gain" approach to relieve the knots on your back and in the pressure points. - Preparing for body work. Strip all the way down until only your undies are left (just like any other massage place that doesn't provide you disposable underwear). During the session, she/he will uncover your buttocks.Here is the funny part: if you are a girl, the male therapist will gently pull down your undie 2/3 of the way; the female therapist will be less prudish and yank it down all the way. - Call ahead specially during the weekends. The full-body massage is great, no complaints. The main complaint I have (which will prevent me from ever going back) is the way they "require" you to tip 33%. You'll easily see all the reviewers here championing the cheap prices. I totally get it, and it's how they get you in the door. Apparently it's "customary" to tip 33% on top of the $30, so for $30 I was more or less forced to tip $10 plus $1.50 for a credit card charge. This 33% tipping rule plus the credit card charge was not made clear upfront. Instead, the hostess woman makes you feel guilty for not tipping your masseuse RIGHT IN FRONT of your masseuse claiming that they don't make enough money and all their earnings are earned in tips. As a business owner, it's a struggle between offering a low sticker price to attract customers while keeping your employees happy and paid. I get it. Nevertheless, as the business owner, the burden to compensate your employees fairly should not fall on the shoulders of the customers tipping a "customary" 33% and feeling remorse and guilt for the underpaid employees of your establishment. The fair amount due to your employees should be incorporated into the base price for the service. At the end of the day, for new customers who are not familiar with the business and the management, you are selling a commodity service to the customer. The price is established and agreed upon up front with the assumption that tip should be 15%-20% (in most cases) or higher depending on how well the service is perceived by the customer. My girlfriend and I were thoroughly embarrassed for having to dawdle with the hostess about tipping another $5 in front of the masseuses who just gave us our massages as well as current customers in the room getting their bunions massaged on their feet. Instead of feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, we both feel annoyed and frankly swindled by the hostess. Oh yeah, it gets super crowded and apparently they don't honor your reservations, so don't make any (some customers there were complaining about how they made reservations and the rooms and masseuses would not be ready for 30-45 minutes after their scheduled appointments). read more

The masseuse gave me one of the best massage hands down. She uses pressure in the right areas and she isn't just using force without technique like many other massage parlors in Flushing. She does a combination of shiatsu, swedish and hot stone( about 3 minutes). It is $30/hour and it is only for the back and shoulders. She did massage my legs and feet briefly(about 5 minutes). After Coco Spa, I had no more back pains and I was completely relaxed. Ahhhhhhh..... Tip: 1. If you plan to come on the weekends, make an appointment or you'll have to wait 1-2 hours. They tend to overbook. Hence, the 4 stars I gave for this review. I made an appointment at 6PM and I didn't get to go in until 6:45PM. That is how busy they are. 2. Why yes, I will exploit my fellow Chinese to get rid of these pesky knots from 3 months of crouching over a desk at odd hours. There are no instructions on where to place your head so I look like a complete idiot when my masseuse busts through the curtain and tells me to turn around. She had some super powerful hands that made me wonder when my 90 minutes will be up. Don't get me wrong, I was super loose by the end of it but oh, my poor sore (probably bruised) muscles.
