She's well-versed in hair care and takes her time on her cutting, coloring and styling. Her portion of this review is FIVE STARS! However, I'm leaving a 2 star review for the nail services. I called the salon - which I only love 5 minutes from, back in May for an appointment with Phelisia. I was told that her calendar was full for June but would open on June 25th for July. I advised that I was a new client and would call back on the 25th to schedule. On June 25th, the salon was closed for business but the calls are still answered so I was told to call back on June 26th to schedule. On the 26th I was advised that as of the Saturday before (6/22), Phelisia told the front desk staff that she's not accepting new clients for July. I advised that I had been planning to make this appointment for 6 weeks and that fell on deaf ears. When I questioned when she'd be opening her books for new clients, I was told there wasn't a date (that it would likely not be 'forever'). I say all this to say, as a black-owned hair/nail studio that not only I patronized but have had others close to me patronize/become repeat customers (in the heart of Fort Greene where gentrification has taken over), it's important to communicate accurately so that people aren't taken by surprise like this. In my gut, I felt like this appointment would never happen anyway because the artist only provides a phone number on her IG page and doesn't answer direct messages regarding her services. Always a red flag, in hindsight. My recommendation: if you're looking for convenience, don't bother trying to book for Phelisia's book. The attached photo is from her Instagram story on 6/26 that still doesn't advise that she's not taking new clients but when you call and ask - they explain that bookings are for existing clients only. I sincerely feel for those who waited like I did only to be denied an appointment. A friend of mine actually decided not to pursue these services as well because of this. Just BAD BUSINESS! I'm not sure about the work of the other artist (Veronica) but one might have better luck getting in with her. Anything else is a waste of precious time to be frank.

She was very familiar and experienced in cutting curly hair, and she managed to cut out all my split ends and restore bounce and shine to my hair! She was very professional but approachable so I always felt comfortable. The products she used on my hair were plant-based and smelled good, and I love how my cut turned out! The haircut I got here with Naho I really loved and will definitely be back…read more I also had my wedding hair done here, along with three of my bridesmaids. I got my hair done by Naho, who was an absolute gem and so sweet. She was great at listening to what I liked and didn't like after the trial appointment and made adjustments. I really liked the hairstyle she gave me, and the half up style she did held up until the last couple hours of the night. The whole team was efficient and friendly, and the salon environment is beautiful (and Momo the dog is perfect!). The only complaint I have was the curls, and to be fair I have pretty smooth, Asian hair that already doesn't want to hold a curl. But I did have a bridesmaid whose hair usually holds a curl, and we both had to redo them at the venue with a wand instead of an iron, so that they held better. Also, while I think the hairstyle looked great from the front, it did look a little bit odd from the side because of the volume of the half up look. It was straight by the end of the night, but with the dancing that may have happened anyway. The one bridesmaid who requested an updo instead of a half up look had the best time--it held all night and was absolutely gorgeous.

I pretty much gave her free rein on the makeup and the end result was great - not too much and not too little. Naho is very sweet. She asks you a lot of questions and I feel like she genuinely cares about you. She also brings her cute dog, Momo, to the salon. I decided to get a haircut and re-highlight my hair a few weeks before my wedding and I booked it on Easter Sunday since that was the only day before the wedding that Naho was available. Once again, my hair turned out great. Just a subtle change but a much needed one since I hadn't gotten a haircut in more than 6 months. My wedding morning was a little crazy and I got to the salon 15 mins late for my appointment, but they were very nice about it. Naho took her time with my hair and makeup and it shows. I never felt so beautiful! The other stylists worked on the members of the bridal party and they looked beautiful as well.
