It's true what the others say about waiting when you have an appointment. Eric (terrible new owner) never respects the appointment time he gives me, (or anyone else I see). I always end up waiting 15 minutes to a half hour for my beloved manicurist, Helen, after my appointment time! Why do I bother making an appointment? ?? Helen, whom I have been going to since Eric was in diapers, is the only reason I go to Coco Nails, and to me she is worth any wait. She is the best thing about that place. The damn owner cares more about cramming as many customers in the room and cramming more money in his pockets than he does customer satisfaction. It's messed up. read more

Have you ever had someone who genuinely cares about how your nails look well that's the treatment I got on my nails. I originally came here and gave 4 stars because it seem clean enough and good service. However I'm getting married this weekend and I brought my sister , mom and mother in law and was now told tip was a minimum 15% and we had to tip at least 15%. I was taken back by how the younger male was arguing for their tip when all I mentioned was I never heard of this policy before during my previous visits. Their argument was other places charge tip % referring to 'restaurants' . I mention this isn't a restaurant and they kept going on about cost of things. I told them to increase the prices of their services if that's the case. It shouldn't be a minimum tip requirement. Tip is a tip base on your service. The younger male worker told us pay the tip and not to come back. I said ok I won't. There was an unsatisfied customer who came in earlier too complaining to the same younger male worker about how the service they provided was horrible and needed it redone. The younger male ignored him at first and then said he's busy after going back and fourth , the male worker told him to come back later . As the male worker said to me and my family " don't come back" and I suggest to everyone not to come give your business to a salon like this. We will not be returning. Rude and greedy. read more

I went for a gel manicure and pedicure today and the lady did a pretty shoddy job at the manicure.. Heck there was nooo manicure part of the service at all! Coco nails right near the gym by the bp gas station: I got there ON TIME and only had to wait for Helen for five minutes. No big deal for me. Although I have arrived 5 minutes late in the past and was told to leave because I was late (!). It is the manager who is a rude person. I love Helen! Today was the second time that someone walked in during my manicure/pedicure and Helen had to leave me to work on the walk-in person for his eyebrows. Last time I told her that I was unhappy with this but she had no authority. The manager tells her what to do. Today, when it happened again, I asked the manager if the gentleman had an appointment. He told me that he did not but "it's only five minutes, you can wait." I asked him why he didn't just tell the gentleman "to come back in thirty minutes after my manicure/pedicure." I had an appointment and the man had just walked in. He again told me that it is only five minutes and I "should just wait." I said that "I don't think this is right." He said "it is right." I asked why "my time is less valuable than his time." He told me that I could just leave after my manicure if I don't like it. I guess he was threatening to not do my pedicure. Helen had done everything on my nails and only had to apply the polish. I said "what?" And again he told me I "could leave if I'm not happy." So I did. I left Helen my phone number for when she leaves this place, and tip money for the work that she had already done. (She is very nice and good.) I will never go there again. The only thing good about this place is one of the workers---Peter. The owner is extremely rude, confrontational and money hungry. I have been going to this place for a while..and even though all my friends have stopped going because of the owner - Eric. I continued because it was convenient and I like Peter. Today, I had my nails and toes done. After 2 hours, my nails were still not dry. This is because this place dilutes their polish with polish remover. After returning to have this resolved - the owner Eric...downright refused to believe that it was because of his polish. He tried to persuade me that if he used the polish on one of the fake nails in the shop and it didn't smudge then he would not have to fix my messed up nails. I outright told him, I am not leaving here until all of my nails are repolished.........then he said...ok...but never come back here again...what an idiot!!! In reading the other negative reviews, I see he throws a lot of people out of his dumpy nail salon. I really feel bad for his wife that works there ...he is always angry with her and the other workers. He is a mean and angry man. I came here for the first time since the new owners took over on Tuesday night. I called ahead since it was only 1 hour before they closed to make sure I could get a gel mani and regular pedi. They said fine. The woman who did my pedicure took her time and I never felt like she was rushing. By the time Eric started my gel manicure it was 8pm already and he was still meticulous and never rushed. He was very nice and made friendly conversation the whole time. My nails came out great, I will definitely be returning. The place is small, not exactly glamorous, and parking is a little annoying but it seemed very clean and was comfortable. read more

Went to get a mani/pedi. Usually go to another place in great neck but they're pretty expensive so I came here. They were pretty busy, I didn't make an appointment so I waited. I noticed airbubbles in the Polish on my fingers. My pedicure was fine. But the manicure was not great at all. Since it was busy I felt like the process was rushed.. Most likely will not visit again. This was a nice place. Not as upscale as the places I usually go to, but it was clean and efficient. I went on a Wednesday night around 6 with my friend, and no appointment. We had to wait a few minutes but they got us seated and started as soon as possible. Everyone was polite. I got a regular pedicure and manicure. Prices were reasonable although I felt like other places would give a longer time massaging, but I still was happy with the service. Got regular polish and it looks great. My friend got a spa pedicure and it was 35 dollars. Included a clay mask, hot rocks, and 10 minutes of massage. He was satisfied after. I've been to places where the hot rocks are part of a regular pedicure so I was a little disappointed about that. But this place was close to my house and convenient so I'll probably be back. You can tell how well a job is done by paying attention to the little details. This was my first time going to CoCo and I think they did a fantastic job. More than once, my manicurist went out of her way to ensure that my mani and pedi was done perfectly. My pedi spa wasnt rushed, and a lot if effort went into every thing within the package. When I was drying my nails, I accidentally chipped my pinkie. Eric was gracious enough to repair it even though he didnt do my mani/pedi. I will definitely come back. read more

Went for the first time since my normal nail salon was closed on Sunday's, I called made an appt with Eric. He was so sweet super accommodating and told me to come in 15 mins. i came here for a while because my boyfriend lived in the area. pricey but they did a pretty good job and it would last me 3 weeks for a uv gel set. unfortunately the owner or manager has no customer service skills and only cares about money. i've seen that quite often that salons don't care anymore about repeat customers, i guess they figure one lost is no big deal i'll get more. first few times were good mind u for 70$ u just get the nails done, no cuticle oil or care or anything that comes with a manicure. First he charges 3$ to cut your nails ... which is part of a manicure. then 3$ for matte top coat which is fine, but after a few times i had my nail break one day after and had an event so i drove 25 minutes all the way back and he said it was my fault when it clearly was just a bad job, because days after they all split and cracked ruining my real nails underneath. the worst part was he charged me 7$ for ONE NAIL! I did argue and he pulled out a calculator and said 10 fingers times 7$ is 70 we charge 70 for a new set. I was like OK! didn't tip and was so disgusted I will never go back there. Idk how high the rent could be but the place is a dump. He's open like 9 am to 8 pm and it's never empty so i don't think he's hurting. They clearly don't care about reviews or unsatisfied customers, but hopefully this review can save someone else some money and aggravation. read more

I have to say this place is my new favorite nail salon. I have gotten my gel mani and pedi here twice so far and they did an amazing job. Unlike other salon I have been to, they take their time with cutting cuticles and make sure they are not hurting you. There is also a wide selection of color gel and regular. And it is clean inside. By far the best nail salon in Little Neck and the surrounding area. Everyone does a great job and they don't mind staying open a little late to finish up. The staff are very nice and helpful, and they give honest advice. Sometimes there's a wait, but around here that's a good sign, so making an appointment is helpful. The prices are good too. I've come a few times and will definitely be coming back. I've been to tons of other nail salons in bayside, flushing, great neck, etc but will definitely be making Coco my regular nail salon. read more

I don't know how they earned so many stars. This place is so dirty. I saw them just put back the used tools in the uv light box, and then the next person just grab it and used on another customer again before they are properly cleanned. Everything looks very dirty. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. One of my friends told me about this place because it's close to my home. I used to travel far and now that I have a 7 month old I don't have the time. So I've been going to this place for a about 5 months, every two weeks now. Every time getting sns plus spa pedicure. I usually tip pretty well but not as well as I usually do because of my new born. I can't splurge as much as I used too. So today peter did my feet also did my nails, Guy did an amazing job, because of an unfortunate situation I'm super tight with money but needed me time. When I went to pay, Selena tells me 60 dollars which I was paying when I first started but the last couple of times she would charge me 55ish. Not to sure it's changed every time. So when she said 60 I was like ok I give her the money and I had 3 dollars in my wallet for his tip. So I give it to peter as I'm walking out. When I'm almost at my car here comes the owner Eric waving me down like a lunatic. When he approaches me he says I only tipped him three dollars. Mind you I was with a friend. EMBARRASSING was an understatement. When I gave him the tip I knew he should of received more but I didn't have it. But I would of make it up another day like I've done before. But Eric made a big deal stating heneeds to be 15 percent of what I pay. Sayyy what sir? A tip I give because I want to, it's not mandatory. Now if you would pay your workers more money they shouldn't be pressed to get more tip. So back to Eric, he was making a big deal in front of my friend, comparing it to a restaurant tip and such. So he basically told me to go else where with my 3 dollar tip. I'm NEVER going back again. I sure enough will travel to my nail salon who treats me with respect and is actually a clean place that wipes down walls, doesn't reuse aluminum foil and he wax room doesn't look like a hostel part three torture room. So I was a customer here for over 7 years. Unfortunately, management changed recently. I loved this place, and Helen was the best and still us! Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience earlier this month. I decided to get eyelash extensions. They were $25, so I wasn't expecting them to look as good as the more expensive ones, but I wanted to try them anyway, I never did this before. So I went on Saturday, got a spa pedicure, manicure, waxing and the eyelashes. I spent a lot of money and tipped generously, as I always do. The girl who took care of me, Selena, who is one of the owners, applied WAAAAAY too much glue to the individual lashes that she applied. Not only did she glue each individual lash but in the end she globbed lines of glue on top basically gluing the lashes to each other. As they dried they began to pull my lid up and it was very uncomfortable and painful too! I had trouble sleeping that night and they looked horrible! Needless to say I made an emergency appointment to come in and have them removed, as my attempts with oil at home failed. They basically left me in a room with oil soaked cotton pads to leave on my eyes. The oil was burning my eyes and I was honestly nervous that it was causing damage. After an hour the lashes were finally removed, and sadly the oil soaked pads that I was told to hold against my lids for an hour deteriorated the fresh manicure I received the day before. So now my nails were ruined. I was in a rush to leave because I had my godson's communion in less than an hour. I explained to the other owner, the man, whose name I do not know, that I did not have time to get my nails redone as I was in a rush and the removal process took way longer than expected. I asked him politely for a refund for the lashes and manicure, as I felt that the lashes were done incorrectly, and then my nails were ruined because of it. He told me I could not ask him to do that and he was fine with me never coming back there again. He basically said "bye". Very rude! My entire family came to this nail salon and now that I've told them what happened, they've already started going somewhere else. They lost 5 customers from my immediate family alone because he could not give me back 35 dollars or at least a credit for 35 dollars to be used there again. Hope it was worth it! I'll be sure to let my friends and other family that currently go there know how much they care about their customers. read more

This is the best place ever. I have been coming here ever since I was a baby. I love Selena and Eric and everyone else who works here. My mom and I come every Saturday and we are greated with smiles. I love this place soooooooo much. Eric did my tips and he always goes a fabulous job. Selena I have been using for a while also and she is amazing. I went for a ManiPedi on 6/12/16 with a Gift Certificate that expired 6 days prior (6/6/2016) and the owner refused to honor it even though my family and I are regular customers. When I paid him in dollars and pennies, because I was so livid, he threw the pennies at me and said, "We don't take pennies". I had been a loyal Coco customer for more than 10 years. When it was owned by Karen the service was always friendly and prompt. I never needed to make an appointment and if I walked in I don't even remember waiting more than 10-15 minutes. Since Eric and Selina bought the salon the service has gone down and prices and wait time have gone up. I was hoping the issues were just because it was new ownership and they were getting into the grove of things but it's been a few years and still so many problems. If you make an appointment, you still end up waiting over 1/2 hour so what's the point of making an appointment? I've had functions where people come from out of state and want to get their nails done and I always send them to Coco but even with an appointment they have to wait and are given rude service if they are being helped. Today I went in (and called about a week ago to make an appointment and was told by Selina to come in at 2:30) and when I was waiting she finished with one customer and moved to another. I asked her how long the wait would be and she said " I don't know." Ummm what do you mean you don't know? I made an appointment and you took another customer during what should've been my appointment. If you make the mistake of wasting your time here don't be late for the appointment time that they don't honor because if YOU are even 1-2 minutes late then they will make a nasty comment about it! So good job Coco you lost a loyal customer and a lot of business. If I could give 0 stars I would. My mom, sister, and myself had been coming to this salon since we moved to Queens about 7 years ago. It used to be owned by a woman named Karen. She and her staff were fabulous. Great work, service, and prices. Then, Karen decided to sell the salon to this guy Eric. And this is where the problems start. First, the cleanliness of the salon has taken a huge downturn. They don't clean instruments properly or sanitize the tubs after a pedicure. Second, the work they do is terrible. I either come out with half my nail not painted or globs of paint dried in odd ways (I usually do gel manicures. If not applied correctly, the mistakes are VERY visible.) Finally, the service is HORRIBLE. Eric is rude and money hungry. He's had employees sneak extra money onto my bills saying it's 'tax', even though the numbers don't add up. My mom and sister stopped coming here months ago bc of these issues but I stayed on bc I did want to try and give them the benefit of the doubt. Selena and Lucy work very hard and are very nice, but have no customer service skills and just let Eric bulldoze over them. The final straw for me was today. I went in for a 1oclock gel manicure/pedicure appointment with Selena. I get there and Eric tells me I don't have an appointment. I called on 3/13/18 to make this appointment and Eric was the one who took the call and said, "okay, see you then." He has the audacity to tell me it's my fault and that he never made the appointment. Meanwhile, Selena and Lucy are just standing there watching this happen. Selena finally says I can either have Lucy do my nails (she's sweet but her work was crap) or I have to wait for Selena to finish with her appointment that just walked in. I have been going to this salon for almost 2 years and never had an issue until recently. I always get a gel mani and pedicure every few weeks. Whenever I come I have to remove my old gel manicure and they apply a cotton ball with acetone on my finger and wrap with a price of aluminum foil. After they remove the foil I thought they dispose of it in the garbage. They do NOT! They save the old foil wrappers and flatten them back out and place them back into a little basket for the next unknowing client! Gross!! I don't know why I went back a few more times after that, it should have been a warning sign for me. But the few times I came back after knowing this, I asked for new foil whenever they removed my old gels. However after removing my new foil, they still practice saving the old used foils. Yuk! So warning they can be cheap and reuse their supplies. Now this was my turning point, I had a pedicure done and had an ingrown toe nail, Selena began picking at it and removed what she thought was ingrown. Long story short a few weeks later I ended up with an infected toe! I went to a podiatrist who had to remove part of my toe nail! He told me these nail salon keep him in business. He recommended no more pedicures just paint toes. So I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and go back once more for a toe color change and gel mani. I told Selena what had happened to my toe and she had no reaction what so ever, no concern, no apology. Ok I get some Asian people can seem stale at times and I'm Asian myself! So I asked maybe she could at least put some lotion or cuticle oil on my feet besides the color change, Selena said that she would have to charge me for a full pedicure if she put lotion! I was really annoyed, I got this toe infection from your nail salon, the least you could do was put some lotion. Selena replied if I didn't like it I could go somewhere else. Wow! After almost 2 years of being a loyal customer you treat me like this?... Meanwhile while I was there, Eric is arguing with this poor elderly woman, because she wanted him to fix her nails, she was not happy with what he had done. Eric told her that he didn't want to help her and not to come back anymore, he also mentioned that she didn't tip him or his workers prior and the lady asked if that's why he treated her so badly. Coco nails has no customer service skills what so ever and they reuse their foil wraps and I got a toe infection. Look elsewhere in the area for a nails salon, they will treat you better and appreciate your patronage. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

She said that they didn't have time for me, not even a manicure (usually takes 20 minutes). I've been there many late nights and have seen people walk in as late as 7:30 and they get manicures and pedicures. The store closes at 8 - why can't one of the 4 workers give me a manicure and pedicure within that timeframe?? No one was waiting and two workers were almost done with their current clients. I have be going to Coco Nails since they opened over ten years ago and thought they were great until the management changed about year ago. The new manager (Eric) was not nice or welcoming. I went there for pedis anyway because I knew the place and could walk to it from my house. Yesterday I went there for spa pedi (which used to cost $28 with a free manicure and now costs $30 with no manicure). Halfway through working on one of my feet, my manicurist was called away to give someone a massage! No explanation, no apology - nothing. I sat there like a dummy for 10 minutes until another person came over and continued my pedicure. Right before she started to put the polish on, SHE was called away to file someone else's toenails. I was stunned - my mouth was hanging open. Eric was working on the person next to me and I said "what's going on?" He looked annoyed and said "two minutes!!!!!" I said, "this is the second time this has happened since I've been sitting in this chair." Again, no apology. Extremely unprofessional behavior, and he obviously does not know how to treat customers or manage his staff's time. I told him that this was the last time I would ever go there, and he said, "It doesn't matter". It was absolutely disgraceful. Maybe they are trying to weed out the old customers, which is fine with me because nail shops are a dime a dozen in Queens. I'm going to tell all my neighbors and everyone I know about my experience yesterday - in fact I told some of them already and they agreed that it's a terrible place now and a few have already moved on to other salons. read more
