This is the WORST nail salon in Brewster. I decided to get my nails done with my 9 year old daughter and spent $100 plus tip for 2 manicures. The tech that started my nails was rushing and cut me twice. When I confronted them about my experience, one of the male nail techs (possibly the owner) got in my face in anger and told me to see a doctor for the cuts his nail tech left. I have been a customer for 8+ years with no issues. I go to the shop at least every 2/3 weeks for services. Due to work and holidays, I have rescheduled my appointments several times but have done it several days in advance. I was told by the receptionist (there only a few months) today that I could not get an appointment because of my cancellations. I was totally shocked. The first time I went to this spa I was treated poorly by the intake receptionist because I walked in without an appointment and shemake berating comments as if I couldn't pay for services. I was confused. He did not ask any of the Caucasian women to leave their bags outside. I was in Putnam for a vet appointment for my cat, and happened to stumble into coco's. I needed a massage and a facial for my engagement party and I didn't know at the time, but I was in for a treat! Christine was amazing. I walked out of there almost 3 hours later feeling like a new person. Best facial and massage I've ever had! I rarely make reviews but tonight I was extremely disappointed with my service. I received a gel fill and upon leaving, my fingers were so raw and bloody they were throbbing. My nail tech was so rough on my cuticles I was wincing during the entire manicure. I have never left a nail appointment in so much pain. I immediately applied antibiotic ointment to all of my cuticles because I am so worried I am going to get an infection. I have been going here for quite some time and I try to always give them the benefit of the doubt because I see they are busy and working their butts off but tonight was probably my last straw. I've been going to Coco's on and off for 5 years now. Every once in a while something will happen that will make me want to see what else is out there. Finally, today I found the thing that will make me never return with my business. I made an appointment over a week ago to get a very rare (for me) gel manicure. When booked, I showed the receptionist a photo of what I hope to achieved - plain color gel with a simple half circle above the cuticle in a different color. Day of appointment: get set up with a male I've never seen work there before, who seems rough and like this may be his 2nd (gel) manicure in his career. I have a huge bruise on my hand, which I asked him to be gentle around and he proceeded to roughly massage hand lotion onto - only to giggle when I expressed pain. And to add insult to (literal) injury, I now have a plain color gel manicure with designs I did MYSELF with polish I bought from Marshall's afterwards. When I called (nicely) to express that I was a little disappointed I was told in so many words that I had lofty expectations and designs can be difficult. So don't offer them is my suggestion for the future.. OR possibly pair the person getting the manicure with a skilled manicurist who can work with them to achieve a positive outcome. For the price Coco's charges their customers they should have a little more finesse in handling concerns/grievances - you're not the only nail salon in Putnam. read more

I went to Coco's to get a pedicure with the gel nail polish - I didn't get a french look - I just picked out a color and then I picked out a spa treatment for my pedicure - It's not that they did a bad job it's what they charged me. I went to pay and they said $80 I almost fell over - I couldn't believe that it was $80. But what also floored me was I had to tip the guy $15 for doing it. Now if you're a place of business and your making $80 on me for an hour cause that's all it took - then you pay your employees - why should I have to tip them. The people at the front desk are always very friendly and accommodating, however, I had received a very inappropriate massage from one of the male employees. He sat me down and massaged me as usual but then proceeded to stretch me upwards (which no one has ever done with me before) and out my arms backwards over his head. I went to this salon for eye lash extensions and asked for a 4 week fill in. The technician said they had grown out too much and that I needed a new set. I said fine, I wanted " natural" look and when I sat up 2 hours later the lashes were so ridiculously heavy that they in fact blocked half my vision. They were so heavy they looked like furry catapillars on my lids. She couldn't make them less without taking them completely off and took off half my natural lashes in the process. The worst part was the nasty owner and the manager. 2 men tried to intimidate me and forced me to pay for half a pair when I left without my own lashes. If there was an option for zero star rating, this place earned it. This is my first ever yelp review and to land me here at 6:45 on a Saturday know it had to be bad experience. Management owners and staff were disrespectful, incompetent, brash, and unprofessional. I came in for gel polish and a flower design on my ring finger. Basic nail salon requests. I wanted to show the employee the design before she started, not caring what the design was, she shushed me and said to show her later. Nicole was in a rush. She started to paint my nails white but mixed it with another polish because one alone "wrinkles" - (hey coco, maybe you should just throw it out then? Common sense says if it causes problems get a new one or remove it from the selection) ... however, I kept my mouth shut. She would only paint 3/4 of my nail and not go all the way out to the sides. I had to remind Nicole she is missing spots- she huffed and mumble under her breath as if i was asking too much of her to do her job. Now came time for designs. She wanted to see the design and now says she doesn't know if she could do it. 1st off - most issues with the experience could have been avoided and would most likely not land your company on yelp with a negative review if your employees spent less time rushing and more time doing their job correctly, and take 2 seconds to address the customers design requests in the first place. I have also never been to a salon where a stylist can't do anything but paint a semi decent nail. Ladies and gentlemen it was just a flower. She drew a replica of what a 6 year old would finger paint. Top it off she and the owner started to exchange words to one another after I asked her politely to remove it. Apparently I offended her? I asked her to show me a picture of work she is comfortable and capable of doing. Her response was she does not have any designs to show. She then picked a rose flower from google images. She literally drew pink polkadots all over my nail. At this point, I've been sitting in the chair for over 2 hrs. I told her I decline having any design at this point and to keep my nails white. I pointed out my nails were sticky, had black dust file shaving all over them and to have them cleaned up properly. She had the audacity to tell me that I was taking up too much of her time. When in actuality she wasn't capable of doing her job which set her behind. - coco nails, that's a business issue if an employee cannot work effectively and efficiently, not the customers. I went to the front, paid and spoke to the male and female owner. When I showed them the bubbles, black marks in my nails, uneven paint job and inconsistent rushed work - they blew me off saying it's an excellent job and it was my fault for asking for a design. Excuse me? Because of the lack of expertise your employee has on their specialty, it's my fault? The female owner took me into the back massage room with another employee to translate. When I tried to explain what happened the female owner started raising her voice at me cutting me off so I couldn't explain. She not only put her employee in an uncomfortable position but presented herself and her business unprofessionally. I was told the only way to get a refund was to have their poorly applied nail polish soaked off or have the nails redone. They are brash, obnoxious and disrespectful. I never met a business owner who does not care about customer experience or the work their employees are capable or in this case incapable of doing. Needless to say second painting later by the owner who screamed in my face did a piss poor job too: paint on my skin, she has to take out the motorized drill to her most noticeable mistakes and left cuticles attaches that have now passed by two employees. This place is a huge disappointment. They wanted to get paid and get you out. Coco used to be my goto nail spot, but thats now changed. I was squeezed into a regular pedicure when I wanted a spa pedicure, and I was in and out of the "spa" within 15 minutes. I came here for a relaxing pedicure but instead was rushed out. Most nails salons like to care for and pamper their clients but I didn't get any of that here. I needed a pedicure and gel manicure. The attendant was not very social and seemed annoyed to be with me. She kept looking at the clock as if she had an appointment, which she did but it was cancelled I found out later. The pedicure seemed routine - nothing special and no toe separators, really?? When I checked my pedi the next morning in the shower, there was a missed spot. So the gel manicure - first they had to soak powder gel off my nails. I know it is a chore but I felt like it was sloppy. I thought the application of the gel was fine with a few bumps which was unacceptable but I'd live with it on one finger. Then by Sunday (I went Friday afternoon - had made an appointment and everything), it was chipping already. I know I work retail and like to hand wash dishes BUT chipping is unacceptable.
