What a find on the east side! First off, let me say that yelp is slightly off regarding the address. Kinda. I parked at the yelp address at 1230pm. Sign said coco.bar. Placed was closed down (bc the bar part of the restaurant opens later I later learned). Glad I called the store to confirm I was in the right place. Just had to walk around the Valero gas station to other side of the street to see the main restaurant. Very glad I did as this place rocks. First, the service was tremendous. Both bartenders and the manager Linda were awesome throughout my meal. They all made efforts to engage me in conversation throughout the meal. I was really impressed by the quality of care and attention to customers. I ended up ordering the lunch special which was a HUGE pizza slice. Lunch special came with one of several sides to choose from. I chose three parmesan garlic wings. I got the pizza slice of day but substituted ham for pepperoni. Food came out fast and hot. Wings were on the small side to be sure but they were loaded with flavor. Buffalo Wild Wings style wings they were not. The wings had been sprinkled in parmesan cheese and had actual pieces of garlic in the meat. Very yummy. The "slice" of pizza was huge. It had the perfect amount of meat, mushroom, and jalapeño. I tried folding and eating it but it was just too big (that's what she said) so I resorted to knife and fork. I really did love this place. I practically begged them to open a place on the west side of town. To sum up, top notch service. Amazing food. Reasonably priced. One of the best places in El Paso. Apparently they have Karaoke on Monday or Tuesday night. Might be worth a drive out for that! Oh and I have to note how much I love the personality and character of the place. It has a very nice upscale and trendy feel. But has cute elements of humor sprinkled throughout, from the funny bumper stickers on the beer fridge to the Star Wars themed salt and pepper shakers. Small. Cute. Charming. That really sums up Coco.Miel in three words (which I'm sure you've already gotten from the other reviews on this establishment). I think most of my fellow Yelpers have done a good job of describing the atmosphere so I won't dwell too much on it. If prohibition was still around, CM would be the hipster ran speakeasy. The lights are low, half brick-walled, one t.v. playing the game, one t.v. playing the band from next door, loud music, one waitress, dark wood bar. All ingredients for the perfect, modern-day speakeasy. I could almost say the food follows the small. cute. charming. suit, but entree portions are HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating just a little...but they're still pretty dang large. The Spaghetti and Meatballs is seriously large enough for two. Since we're already on the topic, I'll let you know now CM's spaghetti is possibly my fave sketti in El Paso...maybe even Texas. The meatballs are large and I want to say they are pork, but it may be a beef/pork mixture. I like. The sketti has a touch of heat and real bits of 'matoes in it. And two little twirly bread sticks come along side, powdered with Parmesan. Mama June would be proud. Rewind... We started with the Bruschetta with Smoked Salmon. It was Bruschetta. Good, but it didn't WOW me in any way or stand out from any other Bruschetta I've ever had other than the Smoked Salmon having an almost bacon-y taste to it (which actually makes me want to try Bruschetta with bacon or pancetta now). Fast Forward... The Tiramisu!!! Two other things that I appreciate about this amazeballs dessert, it's topped by a couple of coffee beans (nice touch, CM. I see you being all different and stuff) and the mascarpone mixture has some weight to it, but doesn't cover up the deliciousness that is the lady finger thing-a-ma-bob. When I went in there were a about five other occupied tables (which essentially equates to 50% filled) and like I said only one waitress. How do I feel about a waitress potentially handling 10 tables? Normally, I'd think that's a bit much, but I just think it's doable at CM. A friend took me here recently, and I gotta give 3 stars for the food (pizza) itself, but bc the service was so nice, 4 stars. The space itself is pretty small; but it managed to have a full clientele/but not a big wait. The ambiance was nice and cozy for a chat, but the pizza to me was not super duper. We ordered the margherita, and it was okay--but not my favorite thin crust pizza. Since pizzas are a big part of their menu, I'm not prioritizing it on my list to come back to right away, but again--good service typically earns an extra star in my book! read more

This is a cute and quaint bar/restaurant with vibes more suited for a date night. I went with friends and had an alright experience. Definitely better to take your date here rather than your bro. With that out of the way, coco.miel has a good roster of drinks including some ciders I had never seen before, so if you're into hard cider, I'd recommend checking this place out. The food was good, definitely had a quality taste to it. My only criticism with the food is how they serve it with their own twist, you may like their take on classic dishes or you may not. I didn't. Service I thought was slow, but that may be purposeful to allow more undisturbed time with that special someone. I had heard many great things about this place. So I went in to place an order to go. All that was available from the huge menu was 2 different types of salads, wings and the different pizza pies. So I order 2 pizzas and some wings. She first told me 15 minutes then said it was going to take 20-25 minutes. I left and came back . My wings was ready. First, 10 minutes for one pizza and then 15 minutes later I got the other pizza. When I got home to look at my food, it didn't even look presentable. The wings were old and dried out. The pizza was not fully covered with cheese and in some parts of the pizza there was no sauce at all. Definitely will not go back. I gave this a one star but it really should get none. read more

Racist staff and management. I had a meal there, and I was shocked to hear their staff making disparaging remarks about various races in Spanish, under the assumption our party didn't speak the language. They openly mock white, Asians and black people, because they're unaware that other races can be bilingual. Our table was silent, and they kept giggling about us. It was a set of smug waitresses and a bartender, and I feel the need to inform people to avoid this place. We were shocked that a locally owned restaurant could be this pretentious and bigoted. We paid our bill and left immediately. God knows what they did to our food. I thought I was mistaken at first, but they confidently continued to talk like we were not there. And they never had the courage to make these remarks in English to our table. read more

Disappointed today at the CocoMiel restaurant. Arrived at 2pm and we ordered drinks and Nachos, they came and told us a large party was expected, if we wanted to move to the "Bar" next door, and we had already placed our order for food (Chris Nachos, Mahi Sandwich, and Pizza). We ended up moving outside instead . We waited and waited for our food. Finally, the small pizza came, and then the sandwich, but NOT the nachos. We were hoping to get the Nachos first. When the Nachos were brought over, it was a big disappointment...yes, they had some brisket and a small dab of sour cream...that's all! Most of the tostadas had nothing on them! When my daughter in law went inside to use the restroom, she saw the Nachos that were being served to the party (inside) and she told us they were packed with brisket and lettuce/tomato, sour cream etc. Nothing like the ones they brought out to us. Wow. We realize they were concentrating on the big party going on inside; but we are paying customers, too. read more

I've been doing to try Coco.Miel. The reviews and photos of the food were very enticing. For such a small restaurant, we expected great food and excellent service. We were disappointed with both. Us and another couple arrived around 6:30pm. Place was completely empty. My husband and I ordered the Southwest Alfredo and a calzone. The other couple ordered the tacos and escargot tacos. The Alfredo was soupy and disgusting. The chicken had a seamed like it was frozen pre cooked chicken pieces. All around disappointing. The calzone was basically only filled with ricotta and nothing else. The tacos were decent. But the escargot tacos weren't tacos at all. It was a few snails drowning in a bowl of pesto and a couple saltines on the side. For a restaurant with only 10 tables you'd expect refills and the proper check. The waitress tried charging us for another table... all in all, very disgusting food and poor service. Will not be going back. read more

Coco miel has a wonderful variety of micheladas and pretty decent pizza. But really that's about it. The service is okay, sometimes it's good sometimes you'll have to ask for refills because your server will forget you. The restaurant has a very hipster chic decor, and the prices give off the same pretentious vibe. Coco bar is an attached bar that is oddly located on the other side of the gas station. The bar is also just okay. I had a margarita pizza with pepperoni. It was good, after a few drinks our bill came out to $78. For the price I would have expected better service but otherwise cocobar is decent. read more

Came here for the chicken nachos... Was horribly disappointed. First, they were brought out cold....I let the server know and asked if they could take back and heat up. They did, but when I got them back, they were overheated. The queso turned from liquid to basically solid, sticking to chips and just about disappeared...the chicken hardened and became difficult to chew...and the regular cheese became 1 large clump stuck together. I let the waitress know and I asked for more queso so I could pour over the nachos and guess what ? It was brought to me cold. I let the waitress know and of course by this time I'm fighting back the thought of what is possibly happening back in the kitchen with my queso. It took quite a while and was returned to me piping hot... I poured some over my nachos but at this point, my appetite was killed... When the check was brought out I let the waitress know that I was extremely disappointed and if they could possibly discount. This was a huge plate which probably fed 3 to 4 people, and I think I ate about 4 chips worth... I was told I should have mentioned this earlier and they would have brought me a fresh order... Though I maid it clear to them the three times I complained and not once did they offer to replace my order... I told them to go ahead and toss what was pretty much the complete order After that we paid and THEN I was offered a to go replacement order of first chips and queso, and THEN a partial order of the chicken nachos. I hardly EVER complain at restaurants. I'm too phobic of what might be done to my food behind closed doors. I had no choice this instance however, and we STILL tipped 15% 'cause we're not assholes... Not sure I will ever return, which sucks 'cause every other time I've had that menu item, they've been AWESOME... Love this little place! Saw good reviews, hubby and I checked it out this week. My expectations were pleasantly exceeded. First off, the atmosphere is great. Chic, cozy and romantic. I kept noticing more cute little details throughout the meal. The drink menu was expansive. So many foreign beers we have wanted to try, and our waitress was very helpful about recommending good choices. And the food. Oh my goodness. We haven't had good Italian in a good while, and this will now be our official go to when the craving hits. I had the chicken pepperoni pizza; wonderful! You can tell the kitchen puts pride in their ingredients and work. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs, I'm pretty sure I can't cook it anymore because it would be a disgrace in comparison. This place is very small and looks like it's just a bar. I checked with one of the ladies working if kids were allowed in and they informed me they were. My family and I sat down and were promptly greeted and got our drink order taken. I ordered a white sangria and my husband got a Michelada. We ordered pizzas and they were delicious. My kids only like cheese pizza and the waitress was able to have the kitchen make one even though it wasn't on the menu. My husband and I didn't notice that there were many different kinds of Micheladas on the menu and definitely plan on returning to try them. I've only been to Coco.Miel twice in the last few years. The first time I went I was pretty impressed with the food and service so I decided to take a friend of mine there for dinner on a Friday night. It wasn't busy since it was past Happy hour time and we were able to find a table quickly. I have to admit that the that my experience this time around wasn't a reflection of my first time. The service was relatively slow considering how that there were only 3 other tables being occupied. I ordered a pizza and friend ordered the Southwest Alfredo. The plan was to share with each other little bit of our plate... I would give her a few slices of pizza and she'd give me a bit of her pasta so that we could try out their food. PLEASE DON'T ORDER THE PASTA! It taste NOTHING like Alfredo ... you would have a better tasting dish if you just bought the alfredo that is sold in jars at the store and cooked your own pasta. When they brought the dish (which in the menu it warns that it takes longer to prepare and it took over 30 minutes before we got our food) it looked soupy and off ... Alfredo is a cream sauce and it didn't even look like it had cream it looked more like someone mixed flour and water together to make this mucusy looking sauce. The plate hardly had any chicken in it and I couldn't believe that it took the kitchen that long to basically heat up a can of cream of mushroom and mix it with pasta and mushrooms. I couldn't even eat it was so gross. So save your money and don't order this dish. The pizza we had was pretty good but man it was overshadowed by that horrible dish. If you're going to have dishes on the menu you should at least be able to make them well... and if you can't there's no shame in taking it off the menu and focus on your specialty. read more

So I've heard great things about Coco, so I'm a little disappointed at my visit and I know I'll have to be back for a review update. If I'm rating the food, I'd give it 5 stars! The pizza is wonderfully baked to a crisp and you can absolutely taste the freshness in the dough. The toppings are gracious and palate satisfying, so much so that I didn't want to stop eating, though I was full. I got the Mexican Meat Lovers and I would highly recommend it. The chorizo, pastrami, and chipotle sauce blend really well together and the toreados (grilled jalapeños) add just the right amount of spice to the pie! They topped our pie with avacado's as well, though it's not listed on the menu, and it was nice finishing touch that you would not normally think of adding to a pie. The wings were good but nothing you couldn't get at any other establishment, so I would strongly urge you to stick to the pies as that's what they do best! If I'm rating the service and space of the tables, I'd have to give it 2 stars. The place seems as though there is one too many tables in there and the dinning space gets crowded quickly. I found myself bumping into the table behind us and having the pleasure of hair being whipped onto my shoulder after an apparently funny joke from the girl sitting behind me. I took no offense but thought the restaurant should have better seating options. Another sign of a good restaurant, as those of you who've read my reviews know, the bathroom tells it all. If it's up-kept and clean, then you know the staff is properly using the facilities...well sad to say this place had run out of paper towels in the bathroom. Leaves me wondering is all I'm saying, but after bringing it to their attention, they quickly provided some and put more in. Only bad thing was the server was dummer then a bag of rocks . Tried to overcharge us and was never around to refill our beers . Unfortunately I won't be back . Didn't tip either . Decided to finally try this place after hearing some good reviews. So here it is, down and dirty: PROS: 1. EXTENSIVE beer and wine list, including brands I have never even heard of. 2. Different drink specials every day of the week...Wino Wednesdays, Thursdays is half-price on sangria, etc. 3. Friendly staff 4. The menu lists 5 or 6 different types of Micheladas...I tried 3: the Mexicana, the Cubana and the Clamato. You can order it with ANY of their beers. All were good except...see CONS: #3. 5. Calzone (with red sauce and ham) was decent and a good portion. Diced pieces of ham were used. Would prefer larger, chunkier pieces. 6. Nice ambiance, TV on wall, music level was good so we were able to have a conversation without yelling. CONS: 1. VERY SMALL - capacity of maybe 30. Two couches in the middle take up at least two more tables. 2. Chile con queso was good EXCEPT it came with store bought tostadas...fresh, home-made ones would have been better. 3. The Cubana Michelada...has way too much soy sauce. It'll be days before the swelling goes down from all the sodium. 4. Menu is EXTREMELY difficult to read...dim lighting doesn't help. Font and size need to be changed. 5. Pizza is slightly overpriced for my liking and bland. The crust would be excellent for dipping into oil and garlic though. 6. Habanero/ginger wings were very small, sauce fell short of anything remotely tasting like habanero...more on the sweet side than on the heat side. 7. Limited parking, but not their fault. The place is in a small strip that has a total of about 12 parking spaces. 8. NO DRAFT BEER! Summary: Definitely does not live up to it's 4 1/2 star rating...maybe a 3 would be more accurate. This restaurant reminds me a lot of the east coast. The brick wall on the left is very similar to Baltimore Pubs and their drink menu certainly reminds me of a Baltimore/DC bar. I was pleasantly surprised at their Beer list. Any place with Delirium Tremens or Three Philosophers among many other great beers on their list is worth 5 stars. Not to mention this is El Paso where Bud Light and Miller Light reign supreme over the taste buds of all beer drinkers. I had their southwest pizza, medium, and it was good. Not the best gourmet pizza I've had but certainly better than most. Their crust is good the price is awesome. I also had some habanero and ginger wings which were delicious. The locations looks awesome but it is small, so get there early. If you dont like pizza go for drinks, trust me. read more

Look... I consider myself a connoisseur of pizza; deep dish, hand tossed, thin crust, microwave, etc. El Paso has always had limited options when coming to pizza and Peter Piper's is a very safe bet. However, if you want to try something new give Coco Miel a shot. The crew got a classic medium pepperoni and a medium Italian meat lovers. The pepperoni pizza has a hint of italian seasoning that complimented the rest of the ingredients making this pizza stand out from normal pepperoni pizzas. The medium Italian meat lovers had a bunch of meats (this review was written after it was eaten so I don't really remember all the toppings but, come on, it's a meat lovers). Good quality meats, good quality cheese and a fantastic flaky crust. Overall it's fantastic. You're stupid if you don't go and try this place. 10 stars!!!! read more

I love coming here to eat. The micheladas are always great! I ordered an Americana which was part of the happy hour. The stuffed mushrooms we had as an appetizer were also delicious and only $5! The food is o..k... The chicken for the Cesar salad sucks.. Its like dry reheated microwaved chicken, even though the head chef claims they roast it daily And I got some soup with practically all sides of the bowl chipped. I just don't think the standards are very high. It's against code to have broken plates and glasses. Every time I am made to go there, there's always something wrong. I used to love this place a couple of years ago and it's Sad to say that I will never be going back. We used to be a regulars at cocomiel bar and restaurant and when I went last night, service was extremely slow, drinks were not good at all, female bartender was combing hair at the bar on top of cups, male bartender left restroom nasty (I went in after).
