Have been to this restaurant a few times as we love seafood. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and a seafood tower. While both were great tasting, it was a bit too spicy. The agua drinks were not very impressive and lacked taste. Our waitress did provide good service but while the food is relatively good, I have to honestly say it is a bit pricey for the quality of the food, although their food presentation is commendable. I know seafood is typically expensive wherever served in restaurants but I think their whole menu is more expensive than it should be, hence the two stars. read more

On a Sunday night, we passed by a slightly shady part of EL Paso to find this restaurant. It's more like an open cabana bar with loud music and seating in the open air. Walking into Coco Loko is like walking into another country - the vibe is very much like Mexican or South American restaurants. Not a great place for groups since the biggest tables seem to only fit 4 people. The food was the most unique I've ever had, but beware it is on the spicy side. I ordered the shrimp tacos which had at least 6 of them and were so filling. My husband got the signature Coco Loko dish which came with shrimp cerviche in a fresh coconut along with potato chips with hot sauce drizzled on it. Really unique and quite tasty. I also got a non alchoholic mangonada which had mango juice and chili powder with a chili powder straw. Not bad, pretty unique. A fun place to try something different and get a unique experience you cant get anywhere else in the US! read more

I LOVED this place the moment I walked in. The waitress we had was the sweetest. We got the Borracho for 3. I don't know if that is the actual name but the picture I post will explain it. It was everything I wanted! It came with six beers surrounded by potato chips with shrimp, onions, peppers, I don't know what else but it was all so good. The top of the beer had some sort of dark sauce with avocado and shrimp, so when you poured the beer into your vaso it added a little extra flavor. I can't even describe the flavor it was. Sweet, sour, savory. I would come back here in a heart beat. Kinda wish we had room to try more things but this filled us all up. He had been talking about this place for a while and told me how similar it was to the ones we used to frequent when we were living back in México. Located in a small strip close to the downtown area, with very colorful and fun decoration, this place made me feel right away like if I was back in home. My brother had recommended the Papas Lokas but I wanted some ceviche and shrimp cocktail, so what we did like the good yelpers that we are? We order everything and more!!!!!! The Papas Lokas even when they seemed to be the simplest thing, they are a mix of potato chips with peanuts but the preparation is what makes it especial, the lime juice, the hot sauce paired with a perfect cold beer made this the perfect appetizer. The shrimp cocktail definitely is the best one I had in the US, super fresh, nice citrusy notes and the freshness from the onions and the cilantro make this dish a dream. I wish I had order the aguachiles, but my brother scared me away by saying this was too hot, then I realized he lost his Mexican palate lol. My sister in law ordered the Coco Loko which looked amazing. I simply need to go back to this place and try some new stuff. The service was outstanding and the owners were very friendly and welcoming, the even came to the table to say and see how things were going, prices are super reasonable, the ambiance was great, you get to eat while enjoying great tunes of Rock and Ska in Spanish. The hostess was gracious enough to seat us in the far back corner of the restaurant, near the restroom. There were ample empty tables in the small restaurant, but whatever. She proceeded to seat 3 other tables after us and even took their orders. Not once, acknowledging our table. Patiently, we waited at least 30 minutes just to be acknowledged to order our food. She never came to take our order. The tables around us noticed the lack of attention, and began to give us the "that sucks" look. Frustrated, we walked back up to the front and told the waitress we're leaving. She blatantly said, "Ok!" Decided to try this place on Saturday. It was a hot day, and I think the air conditioner was out because the front door was open and they had a big fan on the bar. But, we stayed to try it out. Despite it being empty, it took at least 10 minutes for our waiter to come and help us. We had to ask for the chips and salsa, which was so watery it just served to moisten the chips. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which are served with a slaw. The flavor was good, but it was more of a slaw taco with some shrimp sprinkled in. And no side comes with it. Not worth the expensive price. My friend had a seafood soup. Yes, a soup is liquid, but he said it was a very watered down broth. Also not worth the expensive price. I won't be visiting here again. read more

We went twice the week we were in El Paso. The first time we ordered fish tacos and a giant shrimp cocktail. Both were amazing. A lot of people were ordering what is called the Borracho meal. Basically it's a couple of cans of beer per person and there is seafood spread all over the cans and plate. The second time we went we had guacamole and something called the Torre de Mariscos (Tower of Seafood). The Torre was amazing. It had tons of shrimp, fish, scallops and veggies. Got the word from a local El Pasoan that this restaurant has some of the best food in the city. I'm from Florida so I know good seafood, this place isn't quite there. Fish tacos were atrocious, couldn't stomach through one. Honestly this place is a two star, but I ate most of my quesadillas, which by the way came with tomatoes and alot of onions cooked with the cheese and steak. That's definitely not a good quesadilla. So I've been to this place 3 times. If I had written a review after each time, I would have given it 5 stars. But it's now been exactly a week after my last visit and sadly, I only give it one star. The reason is...of the 6 of us that went last weekend, 5 of us got food poisoning. We think it was probably the oyster shots since the 6th person didn't have one. Yeah, the food was delicious and the drinks were great. But none of that makes up for the miserable week we've all had. I don't want to deter you from checking out this place, but just be aware.
