First time here, passing by on the way from visiting Yosemite national park. Food: yummy Service: friendly staff! Accommodating! Ambiance: casual and cool.

Haven't been in a while. I was pleasantly surprised. I forgot how good it was. Chili Verde was delicious

Great margaritas too

Outstanding Mexican food, the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. If you're a resident or just passing through don't miss this place.

Combo plate of taco, enchilada and chili rellano.

I chose this place due to a previous review bragging about the salsa. In small town mid America where I am from the salsa taste like whatever the local supplier dumps in a jar and sends to the restaurants so this I had to try. The salsa here tasted homemade and fresh. Chunks of onions and peppers to please the pallet along with a little kick to sting the tongue. Add to it some fresh chips and this place was off to a great start! First time at a New Mexican restaurant I have to go with the standard combination plate. No apples to oranges comparisons but rather taco to taco. And this taco did good! Meaty insides with shredded lettuce and their cheese made it a very good taco. I combined that with a carne asada enchilada with green sauce and a chili rellano also with green sauce. All very tasty! I couldn't stop eating. I kept wanting more. The restaurant is a small one with indoor and outdoor dining. It's along the main drag through town heading up towards Yosemite or the gold country. I was there on a Monday night with few people eating in but a steady stream of to-go orders. There was a bar with a $10 36oz margarita but I passed this time. Wish they had shredded beef but that won't stop me from giving this place a 4 star review. Surprisingly good and glad I went!

Burrito Supreme w/grilled chicken
Angkham K.

First timer and we ordered to go. Total cost for 3 items $60 including tip Burrito supreme x 2 and shrimp plate x1. Our burrito supreme burritos didn't have much going on with it. Both asada and grilled chicken was on the dry side. The rest of the burrito was pretty meh as well and it sucked that the sour cream was at the bottom of my burrito instead of mixed in. Shrimp plate was good however the shrimp was over cook and for the price more rice/beans/salad would be nice.

vegan tostadas

I liked it! The server was friendly, the place was clean, and the food was tasty. We were driving through and looking for a lunch stop. I chose Cocina Michoacana because I saw they had a vegan menu. I chose the 2 tostadas with beans and my husband chose the 2 tamales, both were on the vegan menu. My sons chose the bean and cheese burritos. The first things we tried were the chips and salsa. The salsa was great. It had flavor and enough heat to be interesting and keep me coming back for more. My tostadas were good. The green salsa over the top was a little lackluster but it wasn't anything the addition of some hot sauce didn't cure. The beans were fantastic! I eat a lot of beans at Mexican restaurants and these were some of the best. My husband was a fan of his tamales and agreed with me about the beans. I can't say it was the best food I've ever had, but the service and the vegan menu won me over. We pass through the area many times a year and I'll definitely stop in again.

Hands down some of the best food I've had in the United States--and I've eaten at A LOT of places…read more I've tried nearly everything on the menu (lunch and dinner) at this point, and somehow, it is consistently SO GOOD every single time. The menu is diverse, unique, and full of things you don't find everywhere else. And the burgers?! I swear it's like someone sprinkled magic on them because I don't know how else to explain why they're THAT good. What really stands out to me is the consistency. No matter what I order or how many times I come back, the food is always amazing. There are so many good options that it's genuinely hard to pick a favorite. If you're anywhere nearby, GO. This place is an absolute gem and easily one of my favorite places to eat. 10/10 every single time. The views and sunsets are also amazing

Decent spot for breakfast on the way to Yosemite. It has a great patio that overlooks a ravine…read more The inside is small so maybe room for 10 -14 people. The service wasn't that great as we walked in we weren't greeted. We saw people standing at the register so we thought that's how you order. Once we ordered it said takeout on our receipt but no one asked us if we were dining in or not. We ordered a beer so we figured you can't take a beer to go. Sure enough he brought us a beer as we waited. Our meals came in to go boxes so I guess we were to go but dining in. The to go boxes were fine made it easy to take out leftovers. The avocado toast was decent but not great. Tasted. Lee sprouts than avocado. All in all the location is great, service is average and so is the food.

Just wanna start off by giving a big shout out to the Black Sheep staff!! Great service throughout…read moreour whole time being there. We did call ahead and make a reservation. We were having a small birthday celebration just four of us. We asked if there was a charge if we brought our own cake and they said no, come in and we will help you celebrate We found out that they just opened a tiki bar on the patio so we headed out there and grabbed a couple of drinks. They were delicious, not too sweet and in some fun tiki glasses. Had a couple of appetizers loved the sauce on the wings and the pretzels were soft and you could tell the beer cheese was housemade. Would definitely go back again!

Barely okay to be honest. It really feels like a bar that happens to sell food to people who are too inebriated to know if it's good or not. The burnt end tacos.... No! Blueberries and barbecue sauce... No!!! I'm really not trying to be mean. They have decent live music and the atmosphere seems to be cool, but the food is seriously lacking in my opinion, be it fish and chips, burgers, salad... It's for somebody I'm sure, but it's not for me. Also, "wagyu" has 2 different spellings on their menu. I think that's something small that can be corrected rather quickly.

Such a cute place and great breakfast!…read more Visited on a Friday morning for brunch. They were moderately busy with parties inside and outside but we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered: Breakfast Tots Grilled Fruit & Brie Berry lemon cheesecake waffle Coffee flight Everything was amazing. I love tater tots and adding the breakfast staples on top made it 5x better. The only thing that would knock it out of the park is some salsa. My friend enjoyed their grilled fruit and Brie. I really enjoyed the berry lemon cheesecake waffle. The waffle was light but perfectly crisped. Presentation was 10/10. Located in downtown Riverbank. Really cute downtown. Worth the detour and drive. Looking forward to coming back.

If you're planning a Saturday or Sunday visit you definitely want to make a reservation! Based off my first visit I would have give this place 4 stars. The drinks are delicious, the food is incredible with good portions, and everything of course looks great visually as well. The main con the first visit was that service was extremely slow and there was a drink ordered that was completely forgotten about, however they were clearly short staffed and when we did have service she was very apologetic and friendly and comped the beverage so we had no complaints. We went back this month for my birthday and while everything we did have was once again delicious, they were out of a decent portion of the menu. Off the top of my head they were out of all flavors of deviled eggs, pulled pork, tuna for the poke stack and poke bowl, risotto balls, some wines, and a couple other things I don't recall. The first couple times the waitress said something we wanted was out we didn't mind and pivoted, especially since she said those were the only items they were out of. However, it quickly became evident that was not the case. She said the reason was it was Sunday and they are only open Thursday-Sunday so they often run out of stock during the Sunday rush. Like I said earlier, the last time I was there on a Sunday there was no issue with items being unavailable, and I feel like if this is a recurring issue maybe that's something that should be looked at when ordering for the week? But I also am not in the restaurant business so who knows maybe this isn't that unusual. It was just a bummer to go for my birthday excited to try certain things, only to ultimately end up with a chicken Caesar salad (which was still good though!). There were still pros with this recent visit, again everything looked and tasted great and the service was friendly and much quicker than the previous visit. The mimosa flights are fun and there's a ton of flavors to choose from. We got a seasonal peach toast appetizer to share and it was so good. I look forward to coming back soon to give it another shot and will update once I do!
