I've been for lunch and dinner. Both have a good selection of food at a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and attentive. It has a pretty active bar in the evenings. If you're bringing kids with you I wouldn't recommend coming too late. Be finished and leaving by 7:30. If you're looking to socialize it seems pretty great. Music on the patio. I am staying across the street in a hotel close to the airport and I got hungry and decided to eat here. It's obviously not a health food restaurant but since I eat healthy, I got a salad. The salad was basically a pile of bell pepper, and onions with some shrimp on top of it and melted cheese that tasted like craft cheese. My total was just under $18. I want the food to be good, but really it was poorly put together and really lazily made the shrimp was also dried out and shriveled up. The ambience was the entire place smelled like weed. There's an outdoor patio where people were probably smoking. It's very loud and chaotic. I don't know. Maybe they were having some kind of event that I wasn't aware of. Everybody seemed friendly enough, and that wasn't an issue at all. The only issue was the poor quality of the salad, the high price, and the loud environment. We decided to try this restaurant since it was next to the hotel we were staying at. My husband ordered the taquito plate. I ordered the kids taco plate, because I thought the serving was going to be small, however it was an adult size meal. It was extremely filling, and I couldn't finish everything on my plate. (That child's plate must have been for kids 16 to 19, Lol!!) Overall, the restaurant had a nice authentic feel, servers were polite, and friendly, and the food was exceptional. I'm traveling for work and I find this place to be about a 10 min walk from where I am staying. It's a Friday night. As I'm walking I can hear the loud music. The parking lot is packed with cars. I go to the door and I'm greeted by a gentleman with a wand to see if I'm carrying any type of weapons. A sign on the door saying they have the right to search anyone. Also on the patio there is a sign that says recreational drug use is prohibited. I was rather confused when I was the wand was used on me. I ask the man "this is a restaurant right?" He laughed and said yes. I get seated quickly. While I was dining I saw that they had armed security there. They had a man walking around with a baton cuffs and a pistol . I wouldn't have tried anything unless you had a death wish. People seemed happy there. Chips and salsa were good Waiter whose name is Angel was very polite and took good care Margarita was great also (frozen lime with salt) I got the mixed fajitas (chicken and beef). A lot of food and good flavor. I was charged 15% gratuity. That is BS it was only me. I still tipped cause it's not on the waiter. It's the store. I felt a sense that this place had a reputation for danger and was the reason for the security and and metal detector usage. I didn't exactly feel safe. I had good service and the food was good. Was staying in town just for the night, and this restaurant was right next to the hotel. The atmosphere here was great! Everybody seemed to be having fun. Greeted by several people walking through the door, and I was seated promptly. Astrid was at the table taking drink orders very quickly. Within 5 minutes of placing my order, the food was at the table. I had a California Burrito, and it was incredibly tasty. The salsa was fantastic. Also ordered a Bahama Mama to go with the meal, and it did not disappoint. Overall, this was a good experience on a Friday night where everybody was just kicking back after a work week and letting go. Yum yum yum!!!! The Shrimp Taco Salad is my fav! Soooo much food for one person! I also ordered the Happy Cocina which is a bed of rice, topped with peppers & onions, grilled shrimp, & queso cheese! Convenient location next to my hotel. Quick stay with an early flight and needed a bite to eat. The hotel recommended Cocina Mexicana and glad they did. Went with the mixed fajitas (beef and chicken) and it was very flavorful. They give you a nice big portion to fill you up. The carafe off salsa is pretty nice as well. After a long day traveling I saw this restaurant next to my hotel. A margarita and Mexican food sounded wonderful. Walking into the restaurant is a sign that reads they reserve The right to search you. I can understand that being the world we live in now. The second thing you notice is that there is no air-conditioning and they have fans running everywhere. It's July. It's humid. The wait staff were very young and did not seem to know what customer service is. Never once did they look you in the eyes or smile. I ordered a small frozen margarita Which was of a color I had never seen before. The flavor was very flat and there was hardly any salt on the rim. We ordered Carnitas which seemed to have taken at least 30 minutes to be brought to the table. There were more onions than meat on the plate. What meat there was was very dry. I had to ask the waiter to get me more water because he never came back to the table to check on us. We had to go to the front to ask for our check because it was never brought to us. There is a paper taped to the counter that says there is a charge of 3.95% fee if you use anything but cash to pay. He was about to run my credit card when I saw that and caught him in time. Still no one was friendly. It seems this is a family run business but the family needs to teach the younger ones what customer service is. I had to edit this and lowered my review to 1 star. I looked at my receipt and found they had automatically charged me a 15% gratuity. No where does it state in the menu that a gratuity is automatically added to your bill except for a party of more than 5 people. We were 2 people I had already left a 10% tip on the table ( more than they deserved). I will be going back tomorrow to get the 15% back. read more

Worn hard and hung out wet from crashing on a bid deadline earlier in the day, some colleagues and I decided to grab lunch yesterday at this nicely painted establishment. Two of us had been here before, but this was my first time here since this joint was a Kettle Restaurant years ago. The interior, while the furniture was laid out like a Shoney's, is really cool and modern with cool wood paneling and several big screen TVs. I swear there must have been a convention because the place was packed even after 1 when we arrived for a late lunch. The salsa was good and fresh which in my opinion helps make or break an experience at a Mexican restaurant. We started with some queso blanco (white cheese dip) which was also very good. My friends had been here before and ordered various items from tacos to fajitas which they said were good. I ordered the Cocina Especial which was incredible! A healthy portion of grilled steak, chicken, and shrimp with sautéed onions and bell peppers on a bed of Mexican rice with a thin layer of the white cheese dip on top. It was amazing. With the chips and queso to start, I couldn't even finish the meal. The service was friendly and reasonably fast. I will absolutely be back to try another dish at this place. read more
