Get in early to grab a good car park. Then sit back and enjoy watching the CAR PARK WARS! It's the best part other than the actual movie that you've paid to see. This space has been here for as long as I can remember. With very little changing. There is an old school dinner set up. Most 'meals' costing $25. As Village Cinemas now own and operate the drive in, the selection on offer is no different to your local shopping centre cinema. Except for the hot jam doughnuts. Which are delicious. The joy of being in the drive in and in your own car is the ease of BYO hot dinner. There are three screens showing a variety of popular films. Don't be a car park jerk. The original poles, that once house speakers, have been left in place to act as a car park guide. You can fit two cars between these poles. If you decide to sit in the back with your boot wide open, take a moment to consider if your boot door will block the view of others. And also don't leave your car lights on during the movie. Not only will you flatten the battery and need to call RACV, you'll have annoyed the other patrons and no one will want to give you a jump start. The drives are a great family option. $40 for a car load of five. The venue is trying to draw more people in, with cheaper week night sessions and inviting food trucks along during the week. read more

I haven't been to a drive in since I was a small child. It was great, nice memories! We packed up the car with blankets and pillows and watched from the boot. The tickets are only $10 each person and you get a free popcorn. Great value! They had a food truck thing happening. Good food selections, long lines though so make sure you get here early. If you want to see the latest blockbuster but don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of idiots throwing popcorn or perhaps you just want a sneaky pash in the back seat of the car - go no further than the Coburg Drive-in. This is the only drive-in cinema in Melbourne and it doesn't disappoint. Three movies play every night and at reception you are sent to your appropriate area. Then tune your radio in to the correct station, jump in the backseat and cuddle up under a blanket. There is an on site diner that you can walk up to if you are in need of some cinema-type snacks, but be warned they are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive. I suggest you pack a picnic! read more

What a great way to enjoy a movie in the comfort of your own car not having to worry about sitting behind a tall person or a cougher! Coburg drive ins are just too easy. Most positions have an excellent view of your film. All you need to do is tune your radio frequency to the station given to you on your ticket. I find this is a much bette way of enjoying a movie because you have your own privacy. The drive in had a snack bar and the even sell hot jam donuts! But to be honest you could always bring your own food. A great idea for a date night with your loved one. Go on, take yourself back and enjoy a movie the old fashion way! read more

This place is great! I went the other night for the first time ever - Id never been to a drivein before and I really really enjoyed it! Its strange because in a way you feel like you are living in the 1950s but strangely enough what you are watching (the latest James Bond film in my case) has so many modern phenomena (email, computers etc) in it! Its a surreal experience really! I couldnt keep the smile off my face for the first 30 minutes of being there! There is nothing flashy about the place and it is unpretentious and totally oldschool. A drive in? Right by my house? And my boyfriend has a car? Yay! Movies are $8-9 on Monday's and the also have a carload night. It's not a double feature, but I really can't complain. Snack prices are crazy but that's always true of movies. The important thing is I had a good time here. read more

Great spot to catch a movie! It was so much fun taking my son to see a movie here, he loved the experience and said "it's so cool" haha!

For a fun nostalgic movie experience the drive-in is a must! It's a little shabby but fun nonetheless (unless you get stuck in the back seat) It is also an unlikely place to take tourists - we recently took both an English friend and French exchange student and they loved the novelty value! "It's just like on Grease" On a balmy Summer's night you can bring a couple of camp chairs and an Esky and sit in front of the car. The food is all deep fried goodness as well as the usual popcorn and choc tops but the beauty of the drive in is that you bring your own snacks and drinks without anyone questioning you! It's also great if you have kids - they can nap in the back of the car while you are watching the latest blockbuster As there are a lot more distractions I wouldn't recommend seeing anything too dark or deep -stick to the comedies or rom coms. read more

Drive-Ins make me feel like Im the one in a movie....... Grease springs to mind, of course, but so do countless other American teen films for the past 40 years. The beauty of the drive- in is in the way it takes my technologically charged self, with my i -everything providing instantaneous graification and communication, back to a time when there were simpler joys in life - like hanging out with a bunch of friends rather than facebooking them, or making out with a boyfriend in his car watchig a drive in movie rather than downloading the latest release to my laptop and waiting for it to buffer while we watch the pixelated screen. Sigh. 3 different movies are generally shown here, and they have a concession stand where u can eat in or order and take it back to your car. Then tune in your radio, kick back and relax. Personally, I love the experience of the drive ins. And I recommend you go to. Just dont take my car park space, ok? read more

It is something different but too many negatives to go regularly. For a start there's a long queue waiting in the car to get in and many people jump the queue by driving up the road and turning into the second entrance and there is no effort by management to control this. This is also no online priority booking and entrance. Then there are the polls still remaining in the car park that serve no purpose except to deny about 30 car spaces. There is no longer SMS food delivery in sound quality being your car radio is poor. read more

The Drive-in is always great and I love it but under no circumstances eat the prepared food there unless, like us you want to spend the rest of your night dealing with the unpleasant effects of food poisoning. Suggest they need to review their food handling procedures. Very unimpressed. read more
