We hired Cobblestone Remodeling to install new siding, soffit, and fascia on our home. Two and a half years after the work was completed, the siding, soffit, and fascia began to fall off. I made at least 30 calls for cobblestone to come out and fix the problems, but there were no answers. Finally, early this year, they came out and fixed the siding, but it was still not done correctly. They stated that they would return to address the soffit and fascia problems. After another dozen calls to come out and fix their work, crickets!! I have now spoken with Bill Conforitti and learned that they have gone out of business. What the Hell!! We wanted to provide everyone with an update to the absolutely horrible situation we are in all because we hired Cobblestone Remodeling. You can read and see from the other reviews what Cobblestone has done to us and our house, and we are now on month 8 of fighting with attorneys and insurance companies trying to get our money back so we can fix all of the damage Cobblestone has done. Attached are current photos of our siding after approximately 1 year after installation (refer to the other photos in the posts for the rest of the damage Cobblestone did to our house). There is more and more separation, bowing, cracking, movement, and now areas are falling apart and disintegrating. Yet from day one of our complaint, Cobblestone has refused to acknowledge that it was installed incorrectly and that it needs to be replaced. After James Hardie (the siding manufacturer) denied our warranty claim, they recommended that we hire a licensed, third-party InterNACHI home inspector to conduct a thorough inspection of the work. Upon completion of the inspection, the final recommendation from the inspector was that "the siding installation needed to be re-done by a licensed and qualified exterior contractor". And yet, Cobblestone refuses to acknowledge this, even after seeing the updated photos posted here. Lastly, please remember that Bill Conforti, the owner of Cobblestone, told me three times, in front of his employees, that he wished he could give us our money back but that he didn't have it. I love my new porch and front facelift. I have been living with my remodeled home for several months and I still feel delighted with the curb appeal. My house went from a 20-year old tired, rickety front porch to one that now looks brand new. The transformation was possible due to Cobblestone's design and crews' workmanship. Ryan stayed with me through several design changes and was so helpful and responsive and offered lots of great ideas. And, Ryan was unflappable when things did not go exactly as I had hoped. My partner and I recently toured a renovated home in Irving Park owned by Cobblestone Realty. Upon meeting Bill, the owner, he was excited to move forward with our application citing he would 'negotiate' with us as we had slightly different timelines due to my partner being 8 months pregnant and more importantly, an ESA dog. We applied later that night providing our proof of income, submitting the $80 application fee, etc the normal song and dance. The next day Cobblestone reached out asking for more information on our ESA dog, so we provided all information we had on hand including the certificate and ESA ID card. They pushed back citing they needed a physician's note, we were unable to provide the original therapist who granted my partner the ESA rights (partner moved from Denver) but let Cobblestone know we were reaching out to our current physician to get the needed "doctor's note". While we were working to obtain this from our current physician, Bill & team reached out as they wanted to "meet our dog" . A very strange request that I initially pushed back. We acquired our doctor's note and provided to Bill & team but yet he still wanted to meet our ESA dog despite having proper documentation. We thought "sure, what's one more hoop to jump through" and selected a date to come into office even though we were disappointed with the lack of communication and unwillingness to negotiate. We walked into the office with dog in leash and made our way into the back of where Bill wasn't present. A third party arbitrator was however, and said "we are viewing other applications" before we had the chance to sit down. It was a very brief conversation that lasted less than 5 minutes and concluded with Bill coming by and patting my dog on the head. Ultimately, we found out the next day they were moving forward with another application. This whole ordeal could've been avoided if they were upfront about their feelings towards dogs, ESA or otherwise. It felt like we were strung along until a more "preferred" applicant applied and then cast us aside despite the unusual circumstances they put us through. Reading other yelp reviews it seems like they continuously negotiate in bad faith. We were well aware of Cobblestone's red flags that popped up as we worked through the application process but against my better judgement kept moving forward. Id strongly advise against contracting/leasing from Cobblestone due to this strange and arduous situation they put myself and expecting partner in. read more

We're a neighbor of a recent customer, so only here to say neighbor beware. They promised they'd be in our yard for 2 weeks and that the ground and plants would be tarped and protected/cleaned (nails, decades old paint chips, wood splinters, twisted metal, screws, cigarette butts. Lets just say 5 weeks later and after one of our dogs got a nail up her paw and the other wood splinters and even after we removed ALL of our side yard's mulch and dirt...we still have paint chips everywhere. The area is large about 10 x 50ft. and took hours to clean. It'll take hours and $ to lay new dirt and mulch.. After the dog incident someone came out to say the nail issue would be stopped and then that very evening when everyone left, i still picked up a bowl of nails, screws, twisted metal, etc. We gave up, kept the dogs out of the yard and we've been left to remediate the soil...they did NO cleanup. We plant in this yard. Our dogs and grandkids run there. In the beginning they gave us a $15 starbucks gift card LOL...how insulting after the time and money needed to clean and repair. read more

I accepted Cobblestone's quote even though it was on the high side because the salesperson sold me on their understanding of my vision and ability to execute on it. My house is a historic landmark and I wanted the work to match the style and craftsmanship of the original work in the house. I'm left with a frustrating choice; do I live with all the issues Cobblestone created that could have easily been avoided if done right the first time, or do I hire a competent contractor to fix their mistakes spending thousands more? - salesperson/designer/project manager disappeared halfway through the project and Cobblestone didn't assign anyone else to the project. I was working directly with subs. - in a room in which they installed 3 windows next to each other one was installed 3/4 inch higher than the others and it shows - another window is noticeably out of plumb - I requested oak to match the existing wood in the house and they ordered pine - the first set of windows ordered were incorrect which set the project back months. I was told I would be able to keep the incorrect windows (which would have fit in other places in my house) but the subs took them. - the door was installed improperly and only opens 90 degrees instead of 180 degrees which causes flow issues now. The salesperson sold me that they'd be able to install it to open 180 degrees but the subs took shortcuts and when I complained didn't fix the problem. - trim work was rushed and rough with corners not meeting up well, gaps, not aligned with existing trim. Generally the they used work-arounds and shortcuts whenever possible instead of doing things the right way. Cobblestone certainly sold me on being a great design/build company but delivered a quick, sloppy job. read more

DO NOT USE COBBLESTONE. RUN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. We contracted with Cobblestone to remodel our kitchen and fireplace. We worked with Jennifer M, who took our vision and created a lovely rendering. She assured us that Cobblestone's service, professionalism, and attention to detail more than makes up for the premium charged over other bids that we received (1.5x as much as the other bids). After we signed the contract with Cobblestone, things went downhill quickly. What follows is a cautionary tale. Do not work with Cobblestone. First, there were two delays in starting the project. Once because the cabinets weren't ready on time and the second delay came when the crew showed up to start demolition of the kitchen, only to learn that all of the cabinets still weren't available. At this point the cabinets had allegedly been ordered two months ago and still weren't in. After the cabinets were installed we immediately notified Cobblestone that the cabinet material and color were not what we ordered. We met with the owner of the company (Bill Conforti), and gave him the opportunity to rip out the cabinets and start over, or keep going and make a financial adjustment at the end. The owner elected to keep going. Jennifer mis-ordered kitchen shelving and the matching mantel, and proceeded to lie to everyone, her own colleagues and us, about what happened. She blamed the vendor for the mishap, even after the vendor proved to us that they shipped exactly what Jennifer ordered. Even when faced with documented evidence of what she'd done, Jennifer continued to lie and claim that she had a telephone conversation with the vendor where they agreed to her request, but she did not obtain a revised work order from the vendor showing it. Jennifer incorrectly measured the kitchen and the cabinets were installed wrong. We pointed this out to the crew, who informed us that they installed according to the measurements. One of the drawers and a cabinet could not open due to their placement. The crew had to take out the cabinets, move plumbing, and reinstall the cabinets in order for the drawer and cabinet to be functional. This caused several days of delay, due to an error that could have easily been avoided. Beyond Jennifer's mountain of mistakes, there were craftsmanship issues with the work that was completed. To the credit of the subcontractor, each time we pointed out a craftsmanship mistake they came in and did it again. Some of the mistakes were the result of the materials ordered (failing to order proper stacked brick to wrap around the fireplace), and some of the mistakes were on the crew. But they tried their best to make everything look as nice as they could with the materials ordered. During our final meeting with the company we sat down with Bill, Jennifer, the project manager, the crew supervisor, and a different project manager that had never been involved on our job and never stepped foot into our house. During this meeting Jennifer told more lies, accused us of misremembering the design meetings, and claimed others had screwed up. The mystery new PM that has never been in our house suggested lots of easy and quick fixes for each of our complaints. Even as he is suggesting these fixes, the crew supervisor is shaking his head no because he actually knows what materials are in the house, and knows that these fixes won't work (also, where was this PM when the problems were happening). In the end, Bill offered a very insulting discount on the work, and when we declined he suggested that they could come and redo the cabinets, shelving and mantel. Only after we pointed out that he is suggested redoing the entire project did we get any traction on a more reasonable adjustment to the original quote. The project ended up taking 13 weeks from the day they actually started. This is after everyone at Cobblestone assured us that this kitchen would take 3 weeks from start to finish. We always felt like 3 weeks was unlikely, but never imagined that it would take 4x as long as quoted. read more

It took 15 months to finish remodeling my bathroom. The first project manager didn't get the right permits so they had fines to pay. The 2nd project manager wasn't able to get started because COVID-19 happened. I was told to call in July and nobody knew anything about my project. The 3rd project manager was excellent . If it hadn't been for him my job wouldn't have been done correctly and probably still wouldn't be done. He quit after he was done with my job. The fact that I had 3 project managers for one job and they all quit makes me wonder about their management. read more

I heard some good reviews about cobblestone and decided to have someone come to my home for an estimate for remodeling and repairs (kitchen, bathroom, flooring, drywall and tuck pointing). A guy came out , he was nice. He spent about 1.5 hours looking at our home and stated he would speak to my husband and I in 3 days and give us the estimate and cost. Well 3 days came and we did not hear from him. I called him and he stated he would email me right away and discuss possible start times if we wanted. Well its been almost 2 weeks later and he failed to call us back or email us the estimate. Failure to follow up with client you have started to work with is not good business. This was a sign for me to take my money and go elsewhere. Wont be calling again!!! read more

There is no question that this is a company lacking in integrity. Do not believe what they tell you - Tony and his team do not follow through on promises or agreements. Our project was supposed to be completed by Thanksgiving - here we stand at the end of January with a half-finished product, false promises, many overcharges, and lots of shoddy workmanship.
