I used to go here a lot, but last time I went the service was pretty slow and we got added gratitude for a party of 5 which seems a bit ridiculous. Anyways I decided to give it another chance last night since it is convenient, and everyone has their off days. Last night the service was again really slow, it seemed like we were forgot about and never really checked on. When we did call over a server for napkins, sauce, and the check the servers would give us very snarky responses as if we were inconveniencing them. All of us at the table being in the restaurant business understand how to not be this annoying customers, so the attitude was not deserved. Other than poor service the food is pretty good which is a shame, because nothing is worse than being ignored. Than force to pay the waitstaff 20% tip when they came to your table 2 times. The cobble stone is a nice local bar/restaurant near SUNNY Purchase. I used to work nearby and frequented them for lunch. It has been about a year since I was able to stop in but had the chance today. I'm glad I did as they continue to be a solid place to have a nice lunch. The place is clean and simply setup. The staff are businesslike and professional. The food has always been very good. Today I had the lamb burger with a Greek salad on the side. This was my standby for a few years and it is nice to report it is still great. The burger is minced lamb and has great fresh flavor with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a tzatziki sauce served on a pita. The Greek salad is fresh and makes a nice compliment. My buddy had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries for those of you who prefer more "American style" food. It was also very good. I have had many of their salads which I would describe as fresh and huge. I really can't comment on them as a bar as we can't have alcohol at lunch. But it looks good! They also make a nice fresh brewed iced tea that takes the place of other drinks for me. read more

Cobble Stone saved the day for our pre Mother's Day brunch yesterday. After another restaurant blew up our reservations for 11 by wanting to seat us outside in a 49 degree day with 97 and 84 year olds in attendance we were left with nowhere to go. After getting rejected a couple of times calling to find another place (we were all a minimum of 30 minutes away from home) we called Cobble Stone. We explained the situation and were graciously accommodated at the last minute. On a busy day we were served seamlessly and had wonderful meals. Would strongly recommend the Shrimp Po' Boy and the burgers ordered at the table were cooked to perfection. The Hangar Steak sandwich was also raved about. They were also very accommodating to a member of our party with food allergies. Menu has something for everyone! Hope to come back and be less of a bother next time! read more

It's the kind of old school pub that my grandfather would've taken me to in the 1980s. You know the kind of joint where almost everyone is over 80 years old and there's no focus on the quality of food: it's all focused on the quaint low lit ambiance (presumably so you won't notice that you could make better food at home). It's just basic American fare. Basic burger on a gigantic poppy seed bun. The Spice burger was supposed to have a chipotle butter on it but the bun was dry AF. The roasted poblano pepper was the size of my pinky. French fries looked like the generic, buy-at-grocery-store fries. Beers on tap were simple. Nothing special she don't go here if you're lookin for craft anything. Service was ok. After the entire meal, I wasn't sure who my server was. Maybe that's just how they work. Took them a while to greet me and my kids after being seated, but at least they were friendly and the food arrived promptly and according to my requests (bring the kids' food out first). From the hostess to the waitress they were both flat out rude with BAD attitudes. After we received our food the waitress did NOT check on us and left us waiting with empty glasses. Finally after reaching out to another waitress our rude waitress brought our drinks. After one of us finished their drink they noticed a frozen FLY in the ice cube. When brought to the hostess's attention she said " oh no" and took the ice cube with the bug in it away. Totally dismissing the situation. It's an old beautiful building made of stone, but since they had just opened up, it was pretty cold in here to the point that some people had to wear their coats. Ordered the lamb burger and greek salad. The lamb burger was delicious and the salad was a nice change. I also like the pita bread versus a roll. The bartenders at this place were great every time I went in there. Knowledgeable about the drinks and quick to share some good banter. They had a variety of interesting burgers and loved each one that I tried. The location wasn't too far to be reached if you are in town seeing something at the Capital Theater that day or if you are at the Golf Resort or the Tennis center that is a few miles down the road. Wow. That's all I can say to a staple in the neighborhood that I grew up in. This well known restaurant has went down hill. This is the second time within the last 5 months we decided to go here. The food and proportions are not even half of what they once were. We had the fish and chips and it was so small and poorly overcooked. The once steak fries are no longer existent and instead only shoe string.The service is ok at best but half the time the staff is inattentive to your order. Very disappointing. read more

Came here several times for weekday lunch while staying in the area and was pleasantly surprised. Great historic old pub right on Anderson Hill Road easily accessible from the highway. Stone walls, old school jukebox, great vibe. Service was great, always seated quickly, food came out accurate and fast. Wings were always a great starter, went great with many of their draft beers. Their sandwich/burger list has great options for just about anyone, tried several different options and none were disappointing. Reasonably priced for the area. This was a restaurant/pub that I used to frequent during my college years back in the late 80's.. I've since moved to New Jersey. It brought back many memories when I decided to stop in for lunch with my wife after attending a funeral mass in nearby Greenwich, CT. I'm glad to see that it's still around. It's a beautiful old place with a rustic look. Lots of woodwork and charm. It hasn't been updated in many decades but I think that's the charm and appeal of this place. They offer a large menu consisting of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, and daily specials. For an appetizer, we began with the Belgium hot pretzel. It was giant size, enough to share, and it came lathered in butter. Tasty and served hot! I had the mushroom burger with Swiss cheese and it came with fries. My wife ordered the turkey burger and she swapped out the fries for a side salad. My burger was cooked to the way I requested it, medium well. It was an 8 oz burger made with fresh ground beef. It was easy to tell. The bun was a Kaiser roll with poppy seeds. The bun held up well and didn't break apart. I was very pleased with my burger. I was happy with my fries. They were lightly seasoned and the portion was just right. Not that greasy. On the downside, we were equally unimpressed with the turkey burger. It was no doubt a frozen turkey burger and made from processed turkey and not fresh. The turkey burger came out without a bun and no cranberry mayonnaise on the side as the menu advertised. We checked with the waiter and he advised the kitchen messed up and believed the order was "no roll." We eventually got the roll and the mayonnaise. Like I said, frozen turkey burger. My wife was very pleased with her side Greek salad. The service was good but we had some hiccups along the way. The prices might be on the higher end but if you order the right thing, you'll be very happy. The men's room needed some updating and the urinal wasn't flushing so they put a bucket of ice in the urinal. My wife said the ladies room floor was sticky and needed a cleaning. Again, needed some updating. There is a nice size private parking lot. I'm glad to see this place is still around. I still love this place and can't wait to go back again. We've been coming to the Cobblestone for years. It used to be our favorite spot. Three years ago I would have given them a 4 or 5 star review. Since Covid, things have really gone down hill. They've lost all their waitstaff. We were there a few weeks ago. We waited about 10 minutes for a table, but we had a good meal. It was crazy busy though. However, there are still plenty of empty tables. Just not enough staff. We tried to eat there again tonight. There was a chaotic line filling the entrance into the restaurant. No one takes names; it's the honor system as to who is seated next. There were seriously 30 people crammed in the doorway, waiting for tables. Then, one of the staff dropped a tray loaded with glasses and we decided to walk out. I didn't want to stand that close to other people and wait for a table that would certainly be waited on by an overworked and unhappy waiter. We went to Elevation Burger. So much better. I hope Cobblestone can turn it around. But it will be months before I try going there again. read more

There are a couple reasons why my experience at this restaurant does not exceed three stars in review. The food was excellent, and the interior was just as charming as the building's exterior. It was extremely busy with the late lunch crowd, and we got served exceptionally fast. Kudos for the waitstaff of what appeared to be only one for staying diligent. However, due to the understaffed floor, the service was not very friendly. In addition, the bill was a little bit more expensive than what outsiders would be used to ($3.50 for half of an avocado!). Again, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. I would come back again, but perhaps at a different time. read more

I was here for lunch with some mates several days ago and, I must say, the food is bloody good! We ordered a Southwest Eggrolls (diced chicken, corn, black beans, scallions, bell peppers, pepper jack cheese rolled in a crispy eggroll skin with avocado ranch dressing) as well as Nachos Surpeme and a Buffalo Blast (shredded chicken breast and pepper jack cheese, coated with buffalo sauce and rolled in a crisp wrapper. served with blue cheese dressing.) and they were all fantastic! For an entree I had chicken sliders of some sort, they had a delicious sauce on them and were topped with an onion ring. I don't recall the name, unfortunately, but they were amazing! My mates had burgers and thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. Our meal was a tad pricey, but we were three grown men, who ordered several pints, and many appetizers. Despite reading some mediocre reviews, decided to give this place a try. Probably won't be coming back. The service left much to be desired. The hostess just motioned us to a table from across the "wait to be seated" area, didn't stick around to greet us. We waited 10 minutes for menus, then another 30 for our food. BBQ pulled pork sandwich was dry and no flavor at all. Colleagues had Ruben and Fish n chips, which were "pretty good." We couldn't get any refills on drinks. My brother, a couple friends and I came here to watch the game and to have food & a few drinks at the bar. After eating and drinking at the bar for over three hours, not one buyback on even a soda which wouldn't have been an issue if (what appeared to be a regular) didn't come in and get his second beer on the house - granted by the bartender who had been serving us the entire time we were there. I've been there a couple times for lunch, and it's always packed. Expect a minimum of 10-15 minute wait. The food portion is good for the prices, and for quality, it's exactly what you would expect given the prices. A burger is a average burger - better than fast food, worse than others. Same goes for other dishes as well. The dishes tend to come out on the colder side, and make sure you grab the waiter as soon as you can to get it heated up. Highly recommended. The place has a very cool look to it - it looks dim in pictures (consider that most pictures posted on yelp aren't taken with the best cameras) but it's not that dim in real life.
