Maybe it's because they don't use cornstarch and fillers- or just because of the wonderful fruit they use- but they have the best commercial pie filling I've ever tried! Whether you live in Vermont and want a fun place to visit, or if you shop online, I do not see how anyone could be disappointed with these jams. They are simply delicious! We found the staff chatty and funny and very helpful as we looked around. The shop is just steps from the Harpoon Brewery, and is well worth your time when you're visiting this area. BTW, we didn't find anything that seemed seriously overpriced, either, not when you consider how tasty these products are whether for you or as gifts.

When visitors come to see the Quechee gorge, I always thought it was a large crevice of rushing water, but now I know its actually at the Cabot sampling table. This old lady choked on a piece of cheese as she was gorging herself with some aged cheddar, subsequently coughed over a section of the tasting table - luckily all the cheese is covered.

Downstairs they make the cheese and customers can watch (that's my understanding, they weren't making cheese when I went) and upstairs is the old equipment for contrast and a small exhibit for additional information. Though the equipment is modern, the process is the same (along with any additional safety/food inspections). It's a great living example of bringing the past to life and promoting making local food as they also use nearby dairy supply and create in house. The cheese is on the more expensive side compared to what you can get in the grocery store, but they had several different Vermont Cheddar flavors. They had samples out, and the smoked cheddar won us over. We also got some beef jerky to pair with it, and the cashier gave us a plate and bamboo knife to eat right outside at a picnic table. I would definitely recommend a metal knife in the situation to get through the wax covering, but the wax is nothing a little sawing can't break through. The cheese is fresh and creamy with that great layer of smoky flavor. It's an upscale cheese and very flavorful. If I was able to take more to go, I would love to try a lot more of the flavors. I'm not cheese expert, but if you want that authentic Vermont cheddar, it doesn't get more real and delicious than this.

The sweetest souls work here and the animal feeding area/petting zoo is incredible! When you arrive at Taylor Farms, you step into the cute little country store stationed at the beginning of the farm. The store is stocked with farm products like yummy cheeses and icecreams but also food and home products from local businesses like soaps, etc. My daughter picked out a scoop of her favorite VT icecream, maple walnut and wandered the store. I stumbled upon the "feed our animals" station near the store exit. You can buy the farm animals food and feed them yourself! The store associate welcomed us to go see the animals even if we didn't buy any food for them. You could tell she really loved them. We bought a variety pack for the animals which consisted of carrots, an apple, a bag of homemade cheeseits, and chicken feed (corn meal?). My daughter had a ball feeding the donkey, cows, chickens and cat! We had a ball watching her experience new things and support a local farm! We hope to come back someday soon!
