I was parked at the Henlopen Condominium in Rehoboth when I attempted to leave, I could not put the car in gear. I called a few places and got the typical small-town response- can't look at it today, maybe in a few days, drop it off, etc. Finally I tried calling Coastal and within 30 minutes they towed me back to their shop, diagnosed a simple failed linkage bushing, had the part delivered and installed within 1 hour and I was back on the road. Staff was friendly, efficient, and very fair priced. Highly recommend. read more

Shoutout to Coastal Towing & Tire! I called yesterday about getting my tires changed, and they had me scheduled for the very next day. Today they got all four tires mounted, balanced, and completed my alignment in just a couple of hours. Fast, friendly, and professional service from start to finish. I highly recommend them to anyone in Sussex County looking for quality tire service and quick turnaround. Thanks again for taking great care of me! read more

I have gone to coastal towing for years but no more. I just went in for a simple oil change and tire rotation which generally cost around $110.00. I wanted a specific oil so I took in my own along with a filter. They charged me $150.90!!!! even though I supplied my own oil and filter claiming that supplying my own put it at a different rate. That place has changed and not for the better. Pay better attention to what's going on Charlie. Did I forget to mention l am a senior? Eugene B. read more

These folks are the worst, My son's car broke down in Dewey. It was towed by Coastal. I went to their office and told them to make the repairs. 5 or 6 days go by and I stop to check on the status. They told me nothing was done since I did not pay their storage fee. Three hundred dollars I pull out my credit card to pay the bill. They would not accept it. I had to pay in cash!!! I had to make a trip to the local ATM. After the storage fee was paid, it took these geniuses a week to fix a relatively simple mechanical problem. These people should not have towing contracts with the state police. read more

WARNING if you have these people tow your car do not let them fix it. I have had 3 people tell me today Coastal is a major rip off. Now I know from experience. They fixed a part that was not broken and when returned made the same noise it had before repairs and it was fixed. The chances of a fuel pump and alternator going out at the same time is extremely remote. And they charged 20 more then the going rate for the repairs. Towing was $95 for one mile. These guys take advantage of people even locals and seniors. read more

Coastal saved the day! I completely buried my bobcat and when i called, dayton was confident and professional about a solution. He arrived right away and was a total master at what he does. I've been taking my cars to Coastal towing for almost twenty years and never had a problem. I love the fact it is a family run business and they all have been very respectful and friendly. They make me feel like I'm a part of their family. They are very hard working people and dedicated to their jobs. If you need any maintenance work on your vehicle, I highly recommend CT. I've read negative posts regarding CT and they all had to do with towing and not maintenance. I'm sure they would have posted the same comments no matter what company showed up! Maybe I would have too! However, CT doesn't just tow, they work on vehicles and have extremely good mechanics. read more

Took my vehicle to Coastal Towing after years of decent service. I was told my vehicle would be done in two days. Two weeks later, my vehicle is finally done and they charged me hundreds more than the estimate. There was no phone call regarding the extra parts or approval of the other work they did. They also never called me during the two week span for an update or approval on the change in the estimate. Their response was to either pay or not get my vehicle back. I will never return there again. Be very careful if you get them to service your vehicles, so you don't get taken advantage of either. I also contacted them regarding this problem and they haven't responded. read more

If I could supply zero or negative stars, I would. I have never been more disrespected in my entire life. A car was about to be towed from a rental property where there are NO signs indicating that street parking is not allowed. The car was literally parked there for 2 hours on a dead end street, clearly not in the way of anything as all the rental properties around us were unoccupied. The parking enforcer demanded $100 cash (shady) to release the car since he had "already called it in and if [he] came back without the money they would think [he] stole it". When my friend asked to speak with his manager/boss (who is this little boy's daddy), he called him on his cell and said "a bunch of women are here," along with saying that we "need a grown man to handle this situation". I was completely taken aback and offended that someone would even have the audacity to say that to a group of adult women in their 30s. I proceeded to say "not that it matters, but we're all doctors here. We don't need a 'grown man' to handle anything". We contemplated calling the police so those "grown men" could handle this boy essentially trying to steal my friends car. We had just arrived at the property 2 hours before to begin a vacation weekend at the beach, so we eventually gave in to his demands and gave him $100 cash to basically get out of our faces so we could get on with our day. After a little digging on the internet I found out that the police department/city has a contract with this company for when cars need to be towed from the scene of an accident, so I'm sure calling the police would have done zero good anyway and only further delayed our vacation. As this little boy was walking back to his truck to drive away he said "all those doctorate degrees and you still can't figure out how to park a car," and "all those student loans sure helped out." I'm sorry that my doctorate degree didn't teach me how to read an INVISIBLE sign. This company is not only rude and sexist, but extremely shady. If you're in the position where you need to call a tow company (and not one where the cops have already called these animals) PLEASE save yourself the headache and call **literally anyone else**. You'd honestly be better off trying to get a group of people to push your car wherever you need to go. ZERO STARS. TL;DR completely rude, disrespectful company. Would push my broken down car with two broken arms before calling them. read more

Wow! Talk about backwoods janky with employees that match the stereotype! Absolutely terrible excuse of a business. Friend had an incident in which they gained possession of her car at 4am. At 2 that afternoon she called them to see what the fee would be to pick her car back up. The woman on the phone explained it would be $150 with a $50 daily fee tacked on each additional day. We get there however and suddenly it's $200. The same woman who on the phone said $150 if we get it that day then turned around and claimed that we didn't understand properly. I raised the point of the vehicle literally having been there for just that morning so the extra day fee shouldn't even have been put on but they didn't care. Gross business. Disgusting people. Avoid this place!! read more

Good luck if you're towed....Nothing like feeling taken advantage of...had unfortunate incident of being g towed. Arrive via uber only to be told CASH ONLY...(super they mentioned it on the phone when I called.prior) $150 for storage (my car was towed at 10"45pm ahd retrieved by 10am) AND $100 for tow... $250 CASH ONLY...no credit card, debit card or personal check. Who carries that? Not me...$40 later in extra uber charge. Good to know they are working under a governmental contract! read more

This towing company was fast and friendly as we were stuck in a sandy situation. Would totally recommend them. Thank you Mike.

Not sure where the negative ratings came from. I got in a pickle for doing something stupid on the beach and they were there in a Jiffy to get me on the road. read more

Our truck broke down on Costal Highway at Bike Week in OC a few weeks ago. 3 out of the 4 brake calibers went out on us. We tried to call AAA but they couldn't tow a truck as big as ours. So we had mutual friends that live in Lewes DE and recommended Coastal Towing. They came right out and made the truck fit on the tow truck. Very nice tow truck driver by the way. They knew we were headed home to Frederick MD on Sunday. This all happened Wednesday afternoon... the truck was ready Friday afternoon. Very friendly and fast service. Would recommended them any day!!! Thank u again guys for making our ordeal a little less hectic!!! read more

We were on our way home from a long weekend getaway when our car just stopped running on Rte. 1. An extremely nice State Trooper came to help us. She called us a tow. Not knowing what we were getting into, we had to trust her. The tow truck got there within 5 minutes of her calling. And within 3 minutes our car was on it's way to the shop. Long story short. They diagnosed the problem, which we figured was it, and got us back on the road within 2 hours. They gave us updates the entire time and everyone was extremely nice. We can't say enough great things about them. We made it back to PA safely. Thank you for great service! Highly recommend them. read more

I'd give it no stars if I could. Stay away! Terrible operation. If they're going to replace a part, make sure you get the old one back and have them show you where the new part is on your car. Terrible service and they'll only stand behind their work if you act like Attilla the Hun on a rampage with them. read more

My son was involved in an accident and as a result the car was towed by Coastal Towing. Women working in the office was rude. To make an awful situation worse it appears his headphones were taken by one of the staff members. Avoid place if possible. read more

I understand that a towing company has to handle some pretty horrible situations - towing vehicles belonging to individuals who die while on the road. That being said, Coastal Towing is cruel and opportunistic. They charge daily for vehicles in their possession, without any notice to the family. And when you contact them, they tell you straight out they don't care. This business has no empathy, compassion, or humanity -- cockroaches that feed on others' tragedies. read more

I suppose as it goes in having your car towed, perhaps it could've been worse. It is however that a cost of $240 for a less than 1 mile tow from the beach area to their virtually unfindable lot on Rehobeth Avenue - and in cash - is unreasonable and predatory. Can't say that anyone was rude and maybe you could even say somewhat efficient - I only waited five minutes or so at their lot - but that was only because they were towing in another unfortunate. Another reviewer indicates that the issue is that it is a "government contract" and I intend to call City Hall on Monday and find out about that. The towing have a cost kids Rehobeth beach a bad name read more

I paid 10 times the amount of a reasonable price. I'm aware a tow service dies not pride themselves on customer service but it would help. Stay away! (I wish I could select zero stars) read more

These guys could not have been more helpful. Our pick up broke down on the beach...others could not get us out. Coastal had us out in no time. They fixed the engine and had us back on the road/beach the next day. Costs were reasonable. Would definitely do business with them again...thanks Coastal! read more

I started off my vacation with a dead battery. Coastal towing came to give me a jumpstart within 15 minutes. Glen showed me that I had corrosion on the connectors that could be the cause, but also indicated that the age of the battery could be the problem. So I decided to go down to the shop just to make sure my battery was still good. They took my car immediately and installed a new battery in record time! Everyone was professional and polite, the price was reasonable, and I was very happy with the endresult. read more

Run in the opposite direction. It's better to leave your car by the side of the road than to have Coastal Towing move it. They only accept cash despite having Visa, MasterCard and Discover stickers in the window. The owner is a sexist, patronizing, condescending SOB. Very unpleasant, awful experience. read more

If I could give this place no stars, I would also. I was in an accident and had my scooter towed there by the police. The woman that I spoke with was very rude and obnoxious. Horrible I was charged $400 to tow my truck less than 10 miles. I was told that I could only pay in cash which I thought was funny. I guess with no real paper trail and they wouldn't have to pay taxes on money. It was also weird hearing one if the town cops tell pedestrian that they could use coastal towing which sounded odd to me also as if someone may have been getting their palms greased for using only coastal towing. Things that make you shake ur head read more

Rude and unprofessional. Dispatcher who took call hung up on me after I called to cancel tow due to driver moving vehicle. Try someone else.

I received great service from Coastal Towing and Auto repair. My sons car broke down. We called for an estimate of the cost to repair. They picked his car up and fixed it that day, under their estimated cost. The staff was courteous and helpful. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would! be very careful! Coaetal towing will do unauthorized work, your vehicle will break in the shop needing additional repairs, and their ability to repair your vehicle is very limited! They also advertise on the radio for new customers but the owner will do nothing to encourage your return business! read more
