Best meal we've had on the Gulf Coast in the last five years! My husband and I enjoyed dinner at Coastal Kitchen this week. We try to eat a nice dinner out every couple of months, but we always go home disappointed and feel like we could have cooked a better meal ourselves. This absolutely was NOT the case at Coastal Kitchen! The food, service, and personal visits to the table from the chef/owner made the whole evening a truly unforgettable experience. There were four people in our party. We started with the tuna egg rolls and fried green tomatoes. The tuna egg rolls were literally to die for! And the fried green tomatoes had the best flavor I've had for that dish, and they weren't over-covered in breading. The appetizer menu, alone, could be your dinner choice. Before we ordered our entrees, Chappy came out to the table to greet us and hinted at the night's specials. I was excited to hear that there was a redfish special, so that sealed my choice right there. Our table ordered two of the fish specials, as well as the filet mignon (topped with lump crabmeat) special. There was also a crab-on-crab-on-crab special that I would love to try in the future! When the entrees arrived, the plating was very neat and clean. My husband and I chose to share the redfish (my idea), and I was definitely a little sad about it! The redfish was cooked to perfection! The mashed potatoes were ridiculously creamy, and the sautéed vegetables were also yummy! 1000/10 would recommend! We also tried the filet (which did not even need a steak knife to cut), and it was delicious! The main reason I wanted to share an entree is so that I would have room for dessert! Our table ordered the chocolate torte (rich but decadent), key lime pie (outstanding), bread pudding (fabulous, but I would suggest they leave off the berry drizzle), and the fried cheesecake egg rolls....of which I will be DREAMING about until my next visit! Overall, it truly was the best experience we have had in the last five years. Our waiter, Gavin, was knowledgeable and attentive. The decor inside was relative to the restaurant name - coastal - and tastefully done; you can even purchase some of the art on the walls. Please go check them out! We went there looking to see the new place. Very nicely redone. Very understated, mature. Nice evening, no large family groups;mainly couples. Still new,training staff. Pleasant. Tuna eggroll, nicely done,light,crispy,fresh,and the tuna was not overcooked. Redfish special, again, nicely done. Not breaded,fried,but sauteed right. Light,fresh,with crab.And freshly cooked mixed vegetables still with texture,not mushy. Smoothly mashed potatoes. Overall a very nice surprise. A good blend of "Coastal" food to attract the locals but uplifted the preparations to stand up to any other places around. read more

Stuffed mushrooms were extremely small (size of a nickel). Our waitress pushed for us to order an appetizer and bread. She also sniffed her nose constantly. Our husbands are both over 6' and we were seated in a small corner table when the entire restaurant was almost empty. read more

Some of the worst service i have ever experienced. I am still sitting here waiting for my food and it has been over an hour and ten minutes. And i just saw the table across from us that was seated after us be served more than ten minutes ago. This is actually laughable we would leave if we didn't have a check open. I understand that it is mothers day and service is slow but you shouldn't leave someones grandparents and mother waiting for over an hour when we called in and you told us there would be no wait and to come on in. Our waitress is the only one ive seen and the owner is working the bar so i am assuming it is an ongoing staffing issue. Waitress was very nice though just drastically overworked read more

Hey, I love the food but your server Jenna is the worst you have right now I watch her cough on one of her customers plates as she was bringing it from the back. She is very disrespectful always smell like a cigarette. Her food always cold when see bring it out, she just a horrible server. GET RID OF HER ASAP. Or continue to have problems read more

Poor service, entree portions are extremely small for the price. Not what was expected if these are the lunch time special pricing there won't be much return visitors. When you have to ask your waitress for refills she needs to be trained to pay attention to customer service. They bring you a small piece of bread with no butter which probably would cost extra. The restaurant was nice. The manager came out to speak to the customers which was nice but he was a little loud. Food - Menu is deceiving! My stuffed chicken was on the bone with mash and vegetables $28. I was served half of a small baked chicken with a glob of spinach/cream cheese like dip on top of chicken not inside. The menu said "stuffed." The outside of the chicken was so crisp it wasn't edible while the inside was dried out. The mash and vegetables were tasty. Although my plate was warm, my food was tepid at best. My husband had the pork chop with mash and vegetables $26. The pork chop was a good size but undercooked (pink inside). His mash and vegetables were tasty. I also ordered a Caesar salad $6. It was very small for the price. It was tasty and the dressing very good. The drink menu said fresh grapefruit juice. It was not fresh, as in fresh squeezed. So I'm not sure what their definition of fresh meant. When we paid our bill we noticed a difference between the menu price and what we were charged. Tolls menu price was a cash price. Service. Slow. We were seated and given menus quickly but waited quite a bit for waiter to show up and serve drinks. Then we waited again to place our order. Took about 30 minutes for our main entree to be served after placing the order. Ambience- very nice, light, airy with a coastal vibe. read more

We visited Coastal Kitchen tonight and had a great experience. The Long Beach Trout was especially delicious--full of flavor and perfectly cooked. My husband loved his steak--it was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Our daughter was thrilled with her grilled shrimp platter, which was fresh and delicious. A great dining experience for everyone! Jeannie was our waitress and was so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to coming back. read more
