I will start my review by saying that we feel like we got a great final product in our master suite home addition, and we are so pleased and thankful for this. All the workers we dealt with were pleasant and relatively competent. The reason I would not recommend Coastal Contracting is primarily due to the lack of follow through with their one year warranty on materials. Our addition has been completed for about 9 months at this point, and we have had 3 distinct issues come up. Twice the HVAC has failed, and once the shower plumbing was malfunctioning. The first time the HVAC failed was right before the ice storm of early 2026, and we called the installing company to arrange service. They came out promptly and fixed the HVAC (faulty part, but we now had heat!) but we were told that we had to pay out of pocket for repairs since we did not first contact Coastal in writing. Ok. It then failed a second time right before the heat wave of July 4th weekend, so we contacted Coastal. We did get a personal email back after business hours saying that they would contact us after the weekend, which after 2 business days we have not heard from them. Again we did some repairs on our own. The plumbing issue happened between the two HVAC issues, so I was wise to submit my request for service in writing and followed up with a phone call, during which I was assured I would hear back...which I never did. It is just disappointing. Also disappointing were the many mis-ordered parts and vanity that delayed our project, the cut corners that we had to be vigilant about inspecting, and the surprise few thousand dollar increase in fee for a plumbing issue they did not see when they were quoting us. They admitted they didn't look under the house as they should have (I thought we were paying for their expertise?), but assured us that we could be happy that we were still getting a good deal. Maybe these hiccups and lack of communication after they get their check are all normal on a project of this size-I don't have any other point of comparison. read more

I highly recommend Coastal Contracting! I originally hired them after waiting weeks just to get a quote from another company, and the difference was night and day. Coastal Contracting was quick to come out, provide an estimate, and get the project scheduled. They replaced a water-damaged window in my 100-year-old house, along with removing the damaged plaster and replacing it with drywall. I was particularly impressed with the care they took to preserve the original trim around the window so it would still match the adjacent window that didn't need to be replaced. That kind of attention to detail really matters in an older home. The project was completed on time and on budget. Dallas kept me informed about the progress, and everyone who worked on the project was conscientious about protecting my walls and carpets. From the communication to the quality of the work, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would absolutely use Coastal Contracting again! read more

I first met with the project manager December 9, 2025. We had purchased a home and wanted a sunroom addition and interior work done. my goal was to have the work done by June/July. When we realized we would not move in for a couple of months I asked the project manager to see if he could separate the quotes and do interior renovations before moving in. This was a "NO" so that 20k of work went to another contractor. Note this was the beginning of January so I assume not a super busy time. By mid March I still did not have a quote/idea on how much addition would cost...not even a ballpark. I was the one that kept calling/checking in to get status update. Needless to say I decided to end discussion. The new company starts work next week. Poor customer service/communication cost this company in excess of $150k of work. Another company is starting work next week. The only reason that I'm posting this is that I'm looking for additional work to be done and realize how much I depend on/look at reviews. read more

Had issue with getting hot water after installing a new hot water heater. Contacted Alex. He came over and, as it turned out, did work that really didn't need to be done because he did not and does not have the expertise to do anything other than basic plumbing. After several hours of trying different things to correct the problem, he contacted a "sub-contractor" he sometimes uses. When this guy showed up, he solved the problem in about 2 minutes. Was a new shower part that needed to be installed (which I ended having to fix because they ended up installing incorrectly) At one point, Alex accused me of lying to him about previous work being done in the house ...he said that was the reason for the problem. Alex will talk your ears off and seems to have an excuse for everything except why he can't do a basic fix. I wish him well in the future but i would NEVER use this outfit until it gets MUCH more experience and a knowledgeable staff. Dont waste your time or money. read more

Horrible communication!! Our house has 50+ year old siding that we knew was no longer made. We asked for the closest match they could find to repair the damage we had. Each new project manager (we had 3 in 9 months it took to get the job completed) had to come out to take a look and cut a sample of the siding. With the first PM we made a decision from the sample book he gave us which is what was finally installed but still each new PM had to come look and cut another piece. And although they had physically cut pieces to have in the office the first shipment of siding that showed up was slate blue and we have a light gray (almost white) siding on the house. When my husband called to tell them the color did not match they asked if the blue would be okay to use anyway. (Umm, No, The back of the house should not be a different color from the front.). read more

I am so grateful for Kwan and her crew at Coastal Contracting. I hired them for a siding job where they replaced the siding to my whole house. They were very professional and thorough. Very pleased with the look and quality of the job. The great thing is that Coastal stands behind their service and even came back to look after a minor detail afterwards. In other words, they don't just run away once the job is finished. They actually care about doing it right. In addition, Kwan came to the rescue when one of my neighbors reported that water was "gushing" out of backyard due to a hose that had been left on for weeks. Soooo grateful that they went immediately to investigate the problem and stopped it before it became a disaster. I called Coastal Contracting to install a steel spiral staircase on my back deck, and to re-hang some cabinet doors that mysteriously no longer fit after having them painted. They came out to give me an estimate and then once agreed upon sent two guys out to do the work. Michael and his helper (didn't catch his name) worked so hard to demo the old rotten wood stairs and install the nightmare steel stairway. They had to make a trip to buy different bolts because the manufacturer sent the wrong ones, but the guys knew exactly what they needed to make it work. Michael had to plane down the cabinet doors and install new hinges but the doors work perfectly now with no more weird gaps or overlapping. They are not cheap, but I am happy with the quality of the work done. I am hoping they will give me a price on a kitchen remodel soon! read more

We had a mysterious (and slow) leak in our roof and two other contractors were unable to diagnose or even begin to address the problem. Coastal Contracting came within hours of our initial request and had the problem solved by the end of the day. They communicated the issue before beginning repairs and charged a VERY fair price. That said, I read other reviews that speak to poor "customer service" that matched my own when asking the owner how they justified the exorbitant cost quoted. UPDATE: Never say never! After posting this review I heard from Kwan directly and she put the project back on track. We are now putting our house back together and if you could only see the smiles on our faces. The craftsmanship of the work Coastal performed exceeds our expectations and we can hardly wait to cook our first (non-grilled) meal. Hats off to Kwan and her team for pushing the project over the finish line and making things right as far as we are concerned. While we're burnt out on house projects for now, we'll likely give Kwan a call next time a project comes up. read more

Coastal Contracting was hired to replace our roof, and they did a terrible job on it. They put new shingles over holes in plywood rather than replace them, despite their contract claiming they would inspect the roof and make repairs as needed. The roof visibly buckles and waves with the bad plywood. The worst part is that they had a guy come out and look, agree they should have been replaced, and offer no explanation why they did not replace it when it makes them a lot of money (about $40 markup per sheet of plywood). They did not put any new pipe boots on and did not even put flashing around one pipe they did not see when they ordered the supplies. They were very upset I hired a local roofer to do an emergency patch job. They did not seem to understand the concept of emergency repair when water is pouring in my house. They said they would come back to fix the missing flashing and boots, and never did. read more

This Company was engaged by the seller to replace the roof on a home I purchased. Subsequent to move-in, I engaged a Chimney repair service to perform some minor work on the Chimney. I was then informed that the new roof was not in compliance with current Building Code requirements. I contacted CC and was told I would need to speak to Ms. Kwan. After waiting a week without a call-back, I called the company on two more occasions and I was told that Ms. Kwan had called me back and discussed the problem with me. This was an intentional lie by Ms. Kwan to her front line personnel. She had not called me and today, after repeated attempts to reach her, I am still waiting. I am now convinced she has no intention to contact me and I have filed a detailed complaint with the BBB and have begun procedures to have her license revoked or have this con censured by the Licensing Board. read more

Bought a home that was supposed to have at least 5 years of roof life in it. To my suprise 30 days into owning the home I had a roof leak. I called Coastal Contracting regarding the leak they immediatly took care of it in a quick professional manner, They answerd all questions regarding the leak as well as future roofing related questions.
