Terrible. We arrived at approximately 6pm to check in and obtain a key. We then went directly to have dinner and some shopping before actually entering the room. We returned at roughly 9pm and When approaching the room we noticed the window was broken. Upon entering the room we discovered an odd odor and cobwebs in the doorway of the bathroom and the baseboard and walls with holes in them as well as possible mold. I've attached pictures as well for reference. I chose not to have my wife and children stay in the room and immediately returned to the front office to return the key advised the representative of the findings and requested a refund. She did not seem at all surprised of the description of the state of the room and simply advised that only the manager could authorize a refund and she wouldn't be available until Monday. I requested that she contact the manager right then and there and was declined and told I would have to wait and call on Monday. Left and went to stay in a different hotel. I refuse to pay for this reservation as the accommodations were not acceptable.

Nasty wet towel not from us

I would leave negative stars if I could but I can't. It's so nasty. There was brown stains on the blankets (looked like poop tbh) vomit in the trash can, Stains on all the lamps, hairs in the bed and counter tops, cigarette burns on the shower curtain and a wet towel on the bathroom sink. Im putting pics to prove the nastiness. I went and got a refund cause I couldn't stay there for the next 4 days.

This is hands down the most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed in. The room just looks very dirty. The walls are dirty and full of holes. The room smells really bad. The couch was so disgusting that they actually put a sheet over it to make it usable. The towels were dirty and had holes in them and there was no hot water. There was a homeless guy digging in the dumpster just outside the room and another guy selling dope in the parking lot. If I hadn't paid in advance and had anywhere else I could go at 11 o'clock at night when I got here I would have hightailed it out of here. This place should really be condemned and leveled.

NEVER EVER again. This place is not only falling apart but disgustingly dirty. We only stayed one night, we had no hot water, no towels, only one of the lamps had a lightbulb, the sink came apart (yes you read that right.. it came completely apart) and there was stains all over the walls. When we brought the owner to look at the sink he was completely rude and refused to do anything about it. I can't believe this place is open, the health department needs to make a visit and shut this crap hole down because it's clear the owners don't plan on doing anything about well.. anything. I should have read the reviews before I booked.

This is a filthy, seedy, dingy motel. Pay more money and stay elsewhere. The staircase is rickety and I think they rent by the hour here. The rooms are horribly renovated. It's all mismatched furniture. Walls and outlets are dirty. No air-conditioning, only fans. And they are overpriced for what they charge...way overpriced!!! Take out a loan, borrow from a relative if you need to, to stay at any place but here. See my pictures.

Disgusting

I created a Yelp account just to give this place a bad review. Absolute worst place I've ever stayed. We spent less then an hour in the room before we couldn't take it any more. The stale cigarette smoke in the room was so strong it was burning our eyes and making it difficult to breath. The floor was coming up off of the ground, the drywall had holes in it, there were exposed pipes and it looked like there was mold around the toilet. The parking lot seemed to be full of "regulars" that made it feel very unsafe. I didn't even bother asking for a refund after the receptionist asked "is it even really that bad?". I'll dispute with my credit card company on Monday.

Long story short, my family and I were looking for a motel that was near the beach and low priced. We usually came across a couple of good motels like this in the past, but the Coast Inn was far beyond from being considered a good motel. As the office may seem somewhat welcoming, the staff and I mean the entire staff could literally care less for any of the guests comfort or their needs. 1. The Area - As we look around, we noticed some sketchy individuals who seemed to be up to no good around the motel they even wandered around the property for countless minutes without even being noticed by the people who run the place. 2. The Office - Very friendly owner we were talking to for about maybe seven minutes, this gave us the idea that this motel might not be so bad even though what it looked like on the outside. During our stay, there is another lady and a gentlemen who usually ran the front desk during night time or afternoon hours. The guy seemed nice but the second lady who I encountered wasn't being as friendly as I was to her. Talk about being unkind and disrespectful. 3. Wi-Fi - This day in age, pretty much everyone NEEDS TO HAVE INTERNET ACCESS! Another slap on the head moment, their Wi-Fi DOES NOT WORK! As we stayed for four days, we could not get a single person to let us know what was going on with the wi-fi. I was told almost everyday during our stay that it was in the process of being fixed or that they would restart their router/modem. I even overheard two guests saying that they will be packing up their bags as soon as possible after finding out that the wi-fi was complete bogus. If you are the person that relies on wi-fi as much as I do, avoid this place AT ALL COSTS! 4. Our Room - As we were speaking to the women who owns the place, we soon learned that the first room we were going to stay in had NO AIR CONDITIONING! Only a ceiling fan and some windows. As another individual in my family pointed out (during the conversation after the discussion of no a.c. in the room) the terrible review I gave another motel that we stayed in just about five minutes away, the women immediately switched gears and upgraded our room to one that had working A.C. free of charge. As we proceed to our room (Room 120) they had these card sensor readers to get the door unlocked which was pretty cool until a day later it stopped reading our cards correctly and I had to wait approximately 4 minutes to get one new card. Anyways, back to the room entrance, it only took me two seconds to realize that I should just go down to get my money back. Well, it was too late for that, might as well just work with it! The "vinyl wood flooring" that was inside was already starting to just come apart. A hole in the wall, the size of a golfball near the night stand was present. Hard to move inside the room because the end of the bed and the wall were so close to each other you had to actually turn sideways in order to get through. Beds were also somewhat uncomfortable. Now the bathroom... Let's put it this way, buy a mirror, iron, and a hair dryer because these are not included. You do get an okay view of the ocean from the two windows inside the bathroom, but look down directly in the back of the motel's property and you will have to just close your eyes and the window, eye sore of trash. Shower was okay also, but be sure to pack EXTRA towels, which brings me on to a better part of this motel. 5. Housekeeping / Maid Service - You're better off bringing a lot of towels with you before checking into this motel. Oh and don't forget the toilet paper! So, we ran out of toilet paper on our second day of staying here and we asked the front desk for some more toilet paper and bathroom towels at around 8:15 AM. The second lady who doesn't own it but is probably just a front desk office worker or a manger said that the maid will get us some within a few minutes if not then an hour. We then depart to the beach at around 9:10 AM and come back at 4:30 PM, where's the toilet paper? Where's the towels we requested 7 hours ago? I then had to look for a maid who was more nicer than the front desk individual for more of those items, she said she would give them to us after she finished cleaning a room. About 20 minutes later she arrived with two rounds of toilet paper and a fresh batch of clean towels. So we needed more towels on the third day and the situation replays itself! 6. People Live Here?!? - I may be wrong on this one but if you look to the left side of the property room numbers 1-5 or 1-6 you can clearly and possibly see that there are actual people living on the property. Almost every night there are about 4 or more sketchy people who enter the property and talk to the people that live on the left side of the motel. Try avoid sitting or standing outside your room during night time hours and always watch your vehicle. To conclude, be aware of your surroundings and your loved ones. AVOID this place if you have children!

The lock for the door

If I could give less than 1 star I absolutely would. The lock to the door is taped on using a plastic knife, the door jams are all busted, the shower head has a hole around it, the chair in our room was filthy dirty, the tv screen was broken, there was one decent bed & one crappy bed. There wasn't an air conditioner as in other photos, just a ceiling fan. There are holes in the walls that have been patched terribly. There isn't daily house keeping, not ice machine for guests, I could keep going

A great room

I really loved the way they received you when you get there. They give you apple cider in little cute glasses. Making you feel very special. Then when you leave they don't even care. On another places at least they ask you how was your stay. Here they just ignored you. They gave us 2 aluminum water bottles with their name on them. They were pretty but a little bent. The beds smelled clean and the mattresses felt comfortable. You could not jump in them but they were comfy. The bathroom and the shower were very clean and ample. We had have very hard time with the coffee machine. It was not very easy to use. They had couple of coffee pods and they were good. When we finally learn how to used it. We asked for a room with a view and our view was from the side not in front of the beach. It was still a good view just not how we imagined. The hotel it's very close to the beach. We went to the pool and it's at roof top one. It had a nice view to the ocean. We took a very nice sunset picture from there. They had the big pool and some jacuzzis. There was some guest there. It was nice it was not over crowded. At night we were going around to the next door hotel that happened to partners. They had a big bar and music. It was very nice and plenty of people having a good time. Sadly we couldn't stay because we had minors with us. I would comeback and stay here again. It was a pleasant stay. I just felt ignored when we left. Forgot to mention we found an empty used drink can in the fridge and used note pad. Details that make a difference. It makes you think they ate it very thorough when cleaning.

It is clear through their property and their communication that Lauren and Hope are attentive angels who truly care about giving guests a wonderful experience. Cleanliness & Comfort: The condo is spotless. It is a simple space where the details of care are everywhere around you... seating on the balcony, a brita pitcher of cold water in the fridge, sheets that are so clean and white that they look brand new, all the information you need clearly posted on the fridge, ample dishware/utensils (including all the fixins for coffee), and as someone who suffers from chronic back pain, I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the mattress. Location: Heaven and haven. This property is a sanctuary. The calmness brought on by overlooking the ocean and passersby on The Strand, while you listen to the sound of waves crashing, makes you not want to ever leave the balcony. If you can find it in you to part ways from the villa, you are in extremely close proximity (WELL within walking distance) to the small-owned restaurants and businesses of Oceanside, as well as just a few paces from a sandy part of the beach and a grassy park. I could not dream of a better "best of all worlds." Communication: Unmatched. Never have I EVER encountered such a level of thorough, prompt, kind, and informative communication from a host. They even reached out when the condo was clean ahead of check-in time, so I could let myself in early. Lauren and Hope are unbelievably accommodating and responsive, and I cannot begin to fully express my gratitude for them. I want to note that they also manage The Brick Hotel, so I am SURE it is incredible down to every last detail. The visitors of Oceanside are lucky to have these women in the hospitality industry, that is for sure. *Ironically enough, I saw the Brick Hotel first... when I saw that they have a gorgeous rooftop bar and offer free yoga there in the mornings, I knew immediately where I wanted to stay. Unfortunately, they were fully booked. Turns out that my disappointment led me to finding utopia in a villa rental overlooking the ocean. The peace, solitude, and comfort is unmatched

Having access to both Mission Pacific and The Seabird across the street made the experience feel even more expansive and luxurious. The property itself is gorgeous and the aesthetic is immaculate. However, the service during our stay fell significantly short of what a property of this caliber should deliver. I traveled with a 4-month-old infant and requested a pack & play multiple times over three weeks and it wasn't in my room upon arrival despite repeated confirmations. The front desk was consistently unreachable by phone throughout our stay, which made accessing the resort fee amenities we paid for nearly impossible. I genuinely believe this may have been a staffing issue specific to our visit rather than a reflection of the property's standard. I would absolutely return, the location and property alone make it worth it. I just hope the service matches the beauty of the space next time.

I won't be coming back. When solo women travelers are paying close to $500 a night to stay at an ocean front room, the staff should be trained to treat guest at check in better. As a brown Asian woman, I was shocked at how rude the front office staff (Eric) was to me. It was 103F here the weekend I arrived and even asking for a bottle of water while I waited for the room was asking for too much. I got eye rolls for even requesting water. I did see them be friendly to all the other blonde Caucasian customers and that is just not done! I think I didn't fit the profile of someone who would be staying here and that was how I was treated! Completely disgusting in 2026 Anyway, here are some positives about my 4 day solo trip to Oceanside at this resort: 1. Valet was extremely friendly and nice, worth it totally for me. 2. Ocean view king room was great! I loved the bed and the room. Housekeeping never disappointed. 3. Rooftop bar and swimming pool has good staff. Pool is small and is mostly for lounging which worked out great for me. If you are looking to do laps, you should use the pool at the seabird which is allowed with your stay here. 4. Location is great! I never used my car for the 4 days as I walked everywhere. Lots of places to eat, beach is across the street and it is dog friendly, which is always a nice thing!

So they charge $115 to change the sheets then? I truly don't understand. Seems like a lot to charge when they ask you to clean up after yourself. Another issue I had staying in room 207 the last couple of days is how tiny the bathroom was in this room. There was also no closet to hang clothes. Just a small closet space, but no hangers or anywhere to hang clothes. Pros: 1.located between 78 and 76 freeways and easy to get to most shopping areas. 2. Change was always available for the laundry. 5. Amenities: Pool and Jacuzzi. Fire pit, BBQ grill. Gym, laundry room. Tiny mini mart with alcohol and junk food for last minute grabs. 6. Continental breakfast everyday. As vegans, we enjoyed cereal (varies), oats (cooked in water) with a variety of toppings (brown sugar, nuts, coconut flakes, raisins, etc), potatoes, bagels, fresh fruit (usually bananas), orange juice, and coffee. Oat milk was available upon request (we knew to ask for it because the lady who checked us in said it was available). 7. Rooms had a kitchenette which included: electric mini stove with 2 burners (no oven), full size fridge, microwave, stove, single cup coffee pot, full size dishwasher. Also included pans, colander, mugs, cups, wine glasses, utensils, knives, cutting board, wine/bottle opener, bowls, plates, large cooking utensils, dish towels, dish soap, paper towels, and dishwasher pods. Cons: 1. Although I've always been excited for salsa nights,, the Junkyard Restaurant in the same shopping center was pretty rowdy on a Tuesday night and you could totally hear and feel the music, even over our sound machines. 2. The sofa bed sheets had not been changed since their last guest.l when we checked in. 3. I always had to request extra towels from the lobby because when we chose to have our room serviced, they took all the towels and did not replace the same number of towels. 4. The pans were scratched up badly. No way it's safe to cook in those pans unless you're wanting to eat Teflon and other leaching chemicals. 5. When I had questions about the waffles containing dairy or egg, the tall white man replied rudely. If I recall correctly he said, "of course it does, why wouldn't it.?!" His tone and manner of speaking took me by surprise since he appeared to be management. Another employee had said it was vegan but because I know better being vegan, I needed to confirm. My husband also asked him if they had a particular cereal my daughter had the previous day and he was also rude to my husband. This was on 2 separate days so it's fair to say this guy has a bad attitude and no empathy for others. This probably irked me the most out of my hotel experience. 6. Another guest before us stuck the wrong detergent in the washer and caused the foam to bubble out of the machine on our load. 7. No vegan options other than alcohol in the mini mart in the hotel. It would have been nice to have a few things without dairy, 8. Table was only big enough for 2. We had our kids eat at the desk. 9. Carpet is dirty- as in your feet and socks are black/brown after walking on the carpet. 10. Only no add Netflix accounts can take advantage of signing in to the Netflix account on the smart TV. Overall, I would probably stay here if I had to, but probably wouldn't be my first choice.

Some of the breakfast items they had were cereals and milk, different juices, coffees/teas, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, yogurts, oatmeal, bagels/ toast, make your own waffle bar, hard-boiled eggs, bananas, etc. They charge $40 per night for underground parking. They have a little general store next to the lobby where you can buy things like sunscreen, sunglasses food, wine, beer, etc.; it's convenient to have that in the hotel. They also have packages where if you can rent beach items such as chairs, umbrellas, etc. so you don't have to bring your own or buy them. I think the package family of 4 was $75 if I remember correctly. The hotel room was very nice and clean and the air-conditioning was working perfectly. I would definitely stay here again, but I would not pay the extra charge for the balcony room which we had. I thought maybe there would be chairs on the balcony but there weren't any and there was only one chair in our room, so it didn't make sense for the two of us to go out onto the balcony and there wasn't much people watching to do facing Myers Street (it may be different looking out onto Mission Avenue). Our room was a suite and had a small refrigerator, microwave, and safe in the room. Our room phone didn't work so we couldn't reach the front desk when our curtains wouldn't close. Since we were on the third floor, our room was near the second floor outdoor roof bar area. We could hear the band playing and people talking. We got back to the hotel at 10 PM and the band was done so I know they don't play past 10 PM, but if you want a quiet stay then do not get a room near the 2nd floor bar area. This is my 2nd time staying here and I would definitely come back again. The only things that need to improve are the speed of the 2 elevators. They are ancient and crawl up and down and are always packed full of people and the underground parking area smells like crap.
