Microwave Oven is furnished in the room
    Rick S.

This review is based upon several factors. The staff are friendly and nice deserving four star a ranking if not doing the best job they can. Friendly and informative. The rooms are average to expectations. A bed, TV, shower/Tub, sink, toilet bathroom and a fridge and microwave. Not a huge room. No dresser, closet for storage / furniture other than side tables and a table next to the center that holds the appliances. The bed and blanket are doable. Good enough. So, it's A-Okay. Earning a three star ranking. The clientele when we stayed are maybe because of the rates. It's borderline not so family friendly to the degree that from 9pm to 12am or so, there seems to be a lot of activity outside the rooms of high volume profanity in frequency and sound. It's pretty offsetting and maybe worry some to others. The walls are thin too, so you can hear a lot of conversations and yelling. This is the biggest area of concern that's mot at the fault of Super 8. I feel maybe patrons fear complaining that may cause retribution so stay silent in reporting these types of guests. So, the general clientele hovers around a one to two star ranking at their worst but many others keep to themselves. It's always the bad behavior guests who ruin experiences for others. The front rooms facing the streets seem to get more ambient noise from the traffic, where the back rooms I speculate might be quieter. The rates I think hover around $100-150/night on avg. It feels average in cleanliness and safety, but of course lacks any luxury or amenities. It serves its purpose as a place to stay and sleep for lodging.

We usually do not stay at this chain, but we are glad we stayed here. This truly was a great surprise! First, we didn't expect great service or the best rooms because the reputation this chain has in the LA area. Sanjay D and his team changed our perspectives! Their service was amazing. We were up here for family reasons and decided to make the best of the weekend. However, due to medical schedules, we had no idea when we were going to check in. I explained my dilemma to Sanjay and he offered a room upstairs and also a very fluid check in period for us....AT NO CHARGE! He even has awesome wit! When I asked if I can speak to his MGR about his great service, he said he guessed he can talk to himself! Love it! To our amazing surprise, the rooms were very updated with USB plugs and a modern bathroom. It was EXTREMELY clean and very spacious! Basic eminitues...BREAKFAST included danish, coffee, juice and fruit breakfasts. Room basics included refrigerator, microwave, hairdryer, iron and toiletries. Positives: *Great amazing service! *Laundry room *Close to everything. *Very clean. *Spacious and updated *Pricing was awesome, especially on a major concert weekend. The cons were: *The heavy sliding shower glass door kept coming off the hinges. *There seem to be no power for light or USB on the right side of the bed. *Not the fault of the facility, but the street in front of it seems to be a very popular area for street racers to rev cars. *Windows were single pane and did not keep out the noise. Would definitely recommend this facility especially if you are budget conscious. Well worth it!

Honestly, I almost gave 4 stars. The room appeared/smelled overly clean with a weird, cheap, cleaner smell, but the ground was beyond dirty. The maid should Swiffer/mop if they are to have hard flooring because my feet and babies' feet literally turned black from walking barefoot a few steps from the shower to my flip flops. It is within fairly close walking proximity to the beach, and the loud traffic from the onramp dies down after 10pm. I think it should be a tad cheaper than it was due to traffic volume AND ZERO amenities, not even a basic pool or hot tub.

Beautiful king room WITH Jacuzzi must click jacuzzi when reserving!! Fantastic room

Considering the location ... the extreme cleanliness of this motel.. I give it 5 stars. It is not a luxury resort ..however it is right by the beach in downtown Oceanside! The rooms are newly redone and fantastic! The floors are CLEAN!!! The rooms are very clean which is a BIG deal! The staff is so nice!

I really loved the way they received you when you get there. They give you apple cider in little cute glasses. Making you feel very special. Then when you leave they don't even care. On another places at least they ask you how was your stay. Here they just ignored you. They gave us 2 aluminum water bottles with their name on them. They were pretty but a little bent. The beds smelled clean and the mattresses felt comfortable. You could not jump in them but they were comfy. The bathroom and the shower were very clean and ample. We had have very hard time with the coffee machine. It was not very easy to use. They had couple of coffee pods and they were good. When we finally learn how to used it. We asked for a room with a view and our view was from the side not in front of the beach. It was still a good view just not how we imagined. The hotel it's very close to the beach. We went to the pool and it's at roof top one. It had a nice view to the ocean. We took a very nice sunset picture from there. They had the big pool and some jacuzzis. There was some guest there. It was nice it was not over crowded. At night we were going around to the next door hotel that happened to partners. They had a big bar and music. It was very nice and plenty of people having a good time. Sadly we couldn't stay because we had minors with us. I would comeback and stay here again. It was a pleasant stay. I just felt ignored when we left. Forgot to mention we found an empty used drink can in the fridge and used note pad. Details that make a difference. It makes you think they ate it very thorough when cleaning.

Having access to both Mission Pacific and The Seabird across the street made the experience feel even more expansive and luxurious. The property itself is gorgeous and the aesthetic is immaculate. However, the service during our stay fell significantly short of what a property of this caliber should deliver. I traveled with a 4-month-old infant and requested a pack & play multiple times over three weeks and it wasn't in my room upon arrival despite repeated confirmations. The front desk was consistently unreachable by phone throughout our stay, which made accessing the resort fee amenities we paid for nearly impossible. I genuinely believe this may have been a staffing issue specific to our visit rather than a reflection of the property's standard. I would absolutely return, the location and property alone make it worth it. I just hope the service matches the beauty of the space next time.

However, warning- if you are in the middle ocean front rooms (i.e. room 530), they are located outside and there is a train behind the property that runs all night. The manager offered to switch our room but it would have been a downgrade to an ocean view room so we decided to deal with the noise. Note that you also can't see the sunset from those rooms as it is blocked by the rooms on the west side. The front desk service was great. They offered us some wine and champagne and provided us with water bottles. The rooftop pool is wonderful. It's a nice place to lounge. The pool is heated so didn't feel too cold, but we were also there during a heat advisory 75+ degrees). There is a live dj playing lounge music. The food and drinks are expensive so we didn't really order anything. Overall a nice stay, but if we ever go back I would make sure we don't get one of the outside rooms.

Pros: 1.located between 78 and 76 freeways and easy to get to most shopping areas. 2. Employee named, Victor, was very kind to bring to our room fresh sheets and extra towels when we requested He was friendly and courteous. 3. Generally speaking, front desk staff was kind. 4. Change was always available for the laundry. 5. Amenities: Pool and Jacuzzi. Fire pit, BBQ grill. Gym, laundry room. Tiny mini mart with alcohol and junk food for last minute grabs. 6. Continental breakfast everyday. As vegans, we enjoyed cereal (varies), oats (cooked in water) with a variety of toppings (brown sugar, nuts, coconut flakes, raisins, etc), potatoes, bagels, fresh fruit (usually bananas), orange juice, and coffee. Oat milk was available upon request (we knew to ask for it because the lady who checked us in said it was available). 7. Rooms had a kitchenette which included: electric mini stove with 2 burners (no oven), full size fridge, microwave, stove, single cup coffee pot, full size dishwasher. Also included pans, colander, mugs, cups, wine glasses, utensils, knives, cutting board, wine/bottle opener, bowls, plates, large cooking utensils, dish towels, dish soap, paper towels, and dishwasher pods. Cons: 1. Although I've always been excited for salsa nights,, the Junkyard Restaurant in the same shopping center was pretty rowdy on a Tuesday night and you could totally hear and feel the music, even over our sound machines. 2. The sofa bed sheets had not been changed since their last guest.l when we checked in. 3. I always had to request extra towels from the lobby because when we chose to have our room serviced, they took all the towels and did not replace the same number of towels. 4. The pans were scratched up badly. No way it's safe to cook in those pans unless you're wanting to eat Teflon and other leaching chemicals. 5. When I had questions about the waffles containing dairy or egg, the tall white man replied rudely. If I recall correctly he said, "of course it does, why wouldn't it.?!" His tone and manner of speaking took me by surprise since he appeared to be management. Another employee had said it was vegan but because I know better being vegan, I needed to confirm. My husband also asked him if they had a particular cereal my daughter had the previous day and he was also rude to my husband. This was on 2 separate days so it's fair to say this guy has a bad attitude and no empathy for others. This probably irked me the most out of my hotel experience. 6. Another guest before us stuck the wrong detergent in the washer and caused the foam to bubble out of the machine on our load. 7. No vegan options other than alcohol in the mini mart in the hotel. It would have been nice to have a few things without dairy, 8. Table was only big enough for 2. We had our kids eat at the desk. 9. Carpet is dirty- as in your feet and socks are black/brown after walking on the carpet. 10. Only no add Netflix accounts can take advantage of signing in to the Netflix account on the smart TV. Overall, I would probably stay here if I had to, but probably wouldn't be my first choice.

They do have some nice amenities such as a 6th floor rooftop pool and jacuzzi (towels are provided on the roof) with a game room attached to it. They offer free breakfast in the mornings. I think it stops at 10 AM. Some of the breakfast items they had were cereals and milk, different juices, coffees/teas, scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, yogurts, oatmeal, bagels/ toast, make your own waffle bar, hard-boiled eggs, bananas, etc. They charge $40 per night for underground parking. They have a little general store next to the lobby where you can buy things like sunscreen, sunglasses food, wine, beer, etc.; it's convenient to have that in the hotel. They also have packages where if you can rent beach items such as chairs, umbrellas, etc. so you don't have to bring your own or buy them. I think the package family of 4 was $75 if I remember correctly. The hotel room was very nice and clean and the air-conditioning was working perfectly. I would definitely stay here again, but I would not pay the extra charge for the balcony room which we had. I thought maybe there would be chairs on the balcony but there weren't any and there was only one chair in our room, so it didn't make sense for the two of us to go out onto the balcony and there wasn't much people watching to do facing Myers Street (it may be different looking out onto Mission Avenue). Our room was a suite and had a small refrigerator, microwave, and safe in the room. Our room phone didn't work so we couldn't reach the front desk when our curtains wouldn't close. Since we were on the third floor, our room was near the second floor outdoor roof bar area. We could hear the band playing and people talking. We got back to the hotel at 10 PM and the band was done so I know they don't play past 10 PM, but if you want a quiet stay then do not get a room near the 2nd floor bar area. This is my 2nd time staying here and I would definitely come back again. The only things that need to improve are the speed of the 2 elevators. They are ancient and crawl up and down and are always packed full of people and the underground parking area smells like crap.
