I just moved to Duluth from Texas and I've been searching for a dentist around the area that is good. I've had the same dentist all my life in Texas, so it was very difficult to find one here that wasn't just trying to take my money. My last dentist advised me to get a crown put on a cracked tooth. I didn't have time to do that before the move, so I had to look for a dentist here. I went with Coast Dental since it's an In-Network-Provider with my insurance. I could tell from the moment I walked in that I was only seen as a dollar sign! I brought all of my x-rays and doctor's notes from my last dentist and they didn't even bother to look at it. They just wanted to take more x-rays(even though I had them the prior month) and get started on my crown. They didn't know anything about my previous dental history or even listen to me, but wanted to get started on my crown right away! You cannot trust an office that doesn't try to listen to their patients or look at their dental/medical history. I refused treatment with them and looked for another dentist. I go to Atlanta dental spa in Roswell now. It's is a little far from Duluth and more expensive, but at least they are good and listen to their patients. Stay away from Coast dental! read more

I decided to update this past review I have now lost 6 teeth that this place touched. I should have been very suspicious of the fact this place performed so much work in such a short period of time. Every root canal the dentist did has failed. they insisted I have my mercury fillings removed and replaced with composite fillings. big mistake on my part. This place imo is all about upselling and could care less about quality and customer satisfaction. the crowns were garbage and one broke within a few months. like another reviewer states, they diagnosed procedures that not at the time needed. the cost to repair the damage this place caused me would cost 2 twice as much as i paid leaving me with only the option to have my teeth removed and replaced with dentures. Id suggest finding a real dentist and avoiding all of these chain places. read more

Scam artists. Claimed I needed a spoecial "deep cleansing" below the gum line specialty cleaning. Went to a different doctor for a second opinion and am glad that I did. Did not need the 3000.00 cleaning. Scam artists at worst, incompetent at best. read more

I went here back in 2018 for a ROOT CANAL and they didn't use enough anesthesia to numb my tooth. It was the WORST feeling ever. I had to stop and let the dentist know. He was young, Caucasian male - ( I forgot his name). However, please stay away from these chain dentistry practices. I say that because I switched from poor service at Great Expressions to Coast Dental and they both had the same feeling: low quality service. read more

i went with them and the total bill came to almost a 900 dollars. And the stuff they said would be covered by insurance wasn't. I got a bill from my insurance for another 130 dollars. They said I had four cavities, needed laser therapy to remove necrotic tissue and a deep cleaning. I've never had a cavity my entire adult life and thought it was strange. I footed the bill like an idiot. Reading numerous reviews, something I should have done beforehand, now helps me understand that this place is well known for ripping people off. Just had an excellent visit with the staff at Coast Dental in Duluth! They were all as nice as could be and worked very efficiently on my teeth cleaning! Dentist was very attentive to any signs of pain and often asked about my overall condition. If all dental visits were like this nobody would be afraid of dentists! read more

My low score for this office is NOT for the dentist or staff as they were very nice...it is for charges related to my daughter's wisdom teeth extractions. In particular, I had to pay $305 out-of-pocket for "conscious sedation". This charge was for 3 generic sleeping pills which I could have purchased from a local grocery store pharmacy for $1.50 (I looked this up). Yes -- $305.00 for $1.50 worth of sleeping pills. I complained but to no avail. This markup is outrageous. The Coast Dental Customer Service Representative will not return my calls...I have called her about 20 times to date but she refuses to return my calls. Beware and know what you are paying for. read more

STAY AWAY! I'm only giving this place one star because 0 is unavailable. They were dishonest about upfront costs, and severely miscalculated how much my girlfriend's insurance would cover. SUPRISE 4 months later a bill for 650.00 additional dollars shows up. They ALSO performed dental malpractice on her mouth that was SO bad that the specialist they referred us to REFUSED to take the responsibility of treating her. Offered pennies as compensation (10%, claiming it was because it was customer service month!) as they charged us ADDITIONAL to fix the problem THEY created. We are in the process of filing a lawsuit against them now. PLEASE don't waste your time and money. read more

My experience at coast Dental was not pleasant at all. I would not suggest that anyone go to them for these 3 reasons: 1. I was charged for services before they were done. Okay I get that Coast Dental wants their money. but the problem came in when I was told that the deductible would be $50 and the consultation was $110. That makes a total of $160. Which later was turned into the insurance as a $160 consultant fee and they payed all $160. Coast Dental did not turn in my deductible to the insurance as they had told me and is in my statement. So they told me one thing and did another. If I had not been charged by the another dentist the $50 deductible again I would not have known that coast dental owed me $50. By the way They took my money on march 11, 2013 and told me today April 22,2013 that it would take 3 to 6 week before I would get the money they owe me. Something just does not seem right about this way of doing business. 2. The day of my visit I had to wait for about 2 hours before they called me back to the back for my consultation. I also received no explanation for the wait. Not even "sorry". That is not good business but I understand it happens sometimes. I suggest that you read other reviews. It looks to me like it is not the exception but the rule, that as a patent you will wait a long time for service. 3. Serve; I did get my root canal done. But was not at all happy with the way things went. I was numbed way too much. Before the shot of novocaine I was given some of the pink stuff on a Q tip to numb the area. It was way too much. There was a big glob on the end and then she rubbed it all over in my mouth. I had to ask for water to rinse some out after wiping most out of my mouth myself. I got tired of waiting for the water so I got up out of the chair and went to the sink to get my own water, to fix her mistake. Then the dentist came in and gave me the shot of novocaine and she hit a nerve and numbed the ear and up my head. the response was that it happens sometimes (This only happens when they go too deep in the nerve). During the root canal she did not have everything she needed in the set up so the dentist and the assistant began digging in a drawer for the missing item to put in my mouth. ( was it sterilized? I do not know and I am now worried about it) The inside of my mouth, gum, under the tongue, and tongue was bruised. My tongue was all cut. I had to go to my regular dentist to have things checked out and fixed. Please please think twice before going to Coast Dental. This was not my first root canal. I know they are not pleasant but this experience was not the way it should be. read more

I got a quick appointment for a dental exam and cleaning. Staff and Dentist were all pleasant. I went through with xrays and dental exam... cost so far 160.00 the next step... cleaning... Cost was going to be over 400.00 for a deep cleaning and several add ons. I did not go through with the cleaning and went to my previous dentist... about one hour drive for me and Xrays needed to be redone due to poor quality, I did not require deep cleaning and I did not have 3 cavities that I was told I had at coast dental. Cavities would be an extra cost above the cleaning. I share this experience in hopes that others will avoid the disappointment, high cost and deceptive practice of this coast dental. To sum it up... I was told that I needed an expensive deep cleaning and three cavities filled. When going to my previous dentist of over 20 years I did not require anything other than a healthy gum cleaning and I did not have any cavities. I requested my record of exam and xrays to be sent to my regular dentist and they did not send them and they called me three weeks in a row to ask me when I was coming in for my deep cleaning. When I left I made it clear that I would not be returning. I do not want to shed a bad light on anyone, but I felt an obligation to share this experience in hopes that other people will not fall into the same trap. My loss was 160.00, but could have been over 600.00. read more

I had a root canal re-done by Dr Yusaf. The staff was friendly but the doctor was rough. She warned that she might crack the crown that I just had re-done. No doubt the hole she made was very large. I would not send my children to her! It would have been nice if she would have waited until the topical numbed me before she gave me the numbing shot. They might be in network but I will never go back! read more
