I have been a patient with DentFirst Duluth office from 2002 until now. I started at the Duluth office for at least 2-years, and I have been to at least 6 other offices. I fly into the state because I will not allow anyone to care for my teeth. I was seen in May 2025 in the Duluth office, and I told them which insurance company to run through. They ran the wrong company and 3 months later sent me a bill. It was corrected once I spoke to the office manager. I later get the same bill in mail of $126. After reviewing the bill, I explained to them I was being over charged by $70. I am a licensed Physician Assistant with 23 years in medicine and school trained with a master's degree in in healthcare administration in business administration. I tried to explain that DentFirst signed a contractual agreement with the Delta Dental insurance to pay the discount however the office manager and another front desk person tried to make me pay that portion. I tried to explain how it violated the Antitrust Kickback Laws as I was showing this $70 accounted for as the discount, and there was $136 paid toward the $262 that was submitted. My portion was $56. I was initially stopped from being seen until I demanded to be seen since I had spent $582 for a flight to come from VA to be seen. I had to pay the money for in order to be seen. I paid the $126 and $15 for my co-pay which they do not collect. I explained that the law requires the copay be collected because it is a contractual obligation. I also had to remind them that the insurance company only pays for x-rays once per year. I refused to be pressured to get another x-ray which my insurance would not cover especially since there were problems. The dentist did see me and the care was great. I really question the business practices of the office based on the comments and understanding of the manager and the front desk staff. I asked the manager to call the insurance and everything I explained was as I said. My $70 was returned to me. At the end of the visit the care was great. However, I was not offered a follow up 6-month appointment for care. I was not spoken to by the manager to apologize for the business mistake. I will say that hurt my feelings, because of the loyalty I have shown this company, and I was only trying to help them improve financial business practices which are literally violating standard financial regulations. Now, my concern is how many others have been overcharge paying the contractual discount that had, and those not paying their co-pay. I asked the office manager, since you have not offered a follow up appointment are you quietly disinviting me back to this office. The front desk young lady said I am not doing that. However, the offender (manager) of a loyal customer (me) never made eye contact with me. I felt very disrespected. I did not make a follow up appointment at that office, I chose another office. read more

Ana cleaned my teeth and she did a pretty good job. I am insanely sensitive and it was not that bad at all. I did not cry one tear.

I have been a patient with Dent First since 2015. Generally, their dental practice has been wonderful; Lynn, my hygienist in Norcross and Dr Baek and Sowi have all been awesome with my peridontal disease issues...the PEOPLE are GREAT! The issue I am having, is their corporate bureaucracy side, as a federal employee insurance, in combination with non matching medical and dental policies creating issues with their claim processing. If I had to have a big procedure, their estimates were always extremely HIGH, and then after I paid, I always seemed to have never ending credits for cleanings, exams, etc....for years, so it seemed strange to me. It was determined a few months ago...after I expressed concern with the extremely high estimate of over $2000, that their system was not able to provide the correct estimate because my medical insurance had a dental rider, which required them to bill my medical first, which is what their system "determines" the estimate for the patient to pay. So, in the end, it is determined what my dental plan will cover, once they were able to bill AFTER my medical plan denied because of their corporate policy...is why I always had credits. I still don't know the true accounting status of my account. So, I agreed to pay a certain amount, which I had previously paid, but not the amount corporate expected me today. Because I refused to pay it, explaining exactly WHY, the corporate side refused my dental surgery until it can be determined the correct amount...whenever that will be. Corporate ought to be ashamed of themselves...but it all about money, right? read more

They literally have messed up so many appointments and when you do arrive for your appointment, sometimes you were waiting an hour more to be seen I will not be returning at all. Also, if you have to go to them I recommend avoiding the Duluth office and going to Buford or some other location zero stars read more

I would give this place a negative rating if possible. This dental office is the most unorganized office I've ever visited! I gave insurance info before going to my appt. Then, when I showed up for appt. they claimed they could not verify my insurance & since it was MLK-they said no one was answering phone at my insurance company. Isn't that the point of giving this info BEFORE visit-so your office can validate and be ready to go for first exam?!!! The receptionist then told me I could pay out of pocket! Why would I want to do that when I already pay via my work paycheck for insurance! Do not go here! There are much better places to get dental care! read more

Avoid them by all means. They are out there to get your money and provide poor service. They do not care about you as a patient. Compassion and providing quality of service is not what they stand for. Sometimes I feel that the intentionally do a poor service so you can keep on coming back to them and pay more money. Now I went to a new dentist, he has to redo what they did. Dentist refused to refund me the money, and they also refused to correct the dental errors it they made. This company will talk you into paying $300 for a membership for discounts but what they don't tell you until after you've paid is that they don't perform most procedures & they'll recommend you to go somewhere else to pay full price. Dentfirst Norctoss found a white patch in my mouth and suggested that I get a biopsy. Dr. Baek from the Duluth office performed it. In my initial appointment he asked me two or three times if I chewed tobacco. I answered two or three times that I did not. I was shocked that he asked me two or three times when I clearly stated the first time that I did not use tobacco. At all. He seemed to have no regard for the fact that I answered the question truthfully. Did he think I was lying? Did he think I couldn't understand the question? This was off putting. He said that he wasn't worried about the white patch but still scheduled an incisional biopsy. I went to the Dentfirst Midtown location to have the procedure done. That office was packed with employees and they were very loud; laughing and joking around in the room next to where I was sitting. I was nervous enough without all of the noise but the unprofessional atmosphere made my anxiety even worse. He came in and gave me a shot. He left me for a good twenty or twenty five minutes and the noise next door made me more nervous and anxious. There seemed to be zero concern. By the time he finally came back in I was afraid that the medicine had worn off. Luckily it had not. Dr. Baek clipped the tissue out of my mouth and I could actually hear it. It sounded as if he was clipping a thick piece of fabric. Then he put four sutures in my mouth and I asked if they would dissolve but he said I'd have to come back in two weeks to have them removed. He also told me that it would take 14 days to get the biopsy results. 14 days? After the procedure was over he did not write the prescriptions that he had talked about. I had to remind him that he was to write them. I was prescribed clindamycin which is a pretty strong antibiotic and also five days of ibuprofen for pain. The pain was strong for ten days. I talk for a living and it was difficult because of the incision and sutures. I ran out of medicine and had to call back to get them to prescribe more. A few days later I started wondering why it would take 14 days to get the results. I called the office and expressed my discontent with the long wait and was able to persuade them to try to get the results earlier. Why I had to request a reasonable turn around of the results, I don't know but it reiterated why people have to advocate for their health. Within a couple of days, I called Dr. Baek to ask some questions about the antibiotic as it was rough on my system. I was not happy with the way things were going so I also asked why I couldn't have had a brush biopsy based on his initial reassurance that he wasn't worried about the white patch. He told me not to lose one night of sleep worrying about it but the pain made it difficult to not be concerned or to do my job. His words made me question why I needed an invasive biopsy and why I received such strong antibiotics. He seemed to not care for my questions and seemed to take offense at me asking him about the procedure and his choice of antibiotics. He never warned me about the side effects. Thank God that the attending assistant pulled me to the side and cautioned me about the potential side effects. If it hadn't been for her I would not have received any guidance at all. If there was nothing to worry about, why the invasive procedure? Why such a strong antibiotic? When he removed the sutures it was evident that he seemed offended. He told me that whoever suggested that I get a brush biopsy wasn't a dentist. I didn't appreciate him talking to me that way because I was in pain for ten days and had every right to ask about the procedure and his choice of antibiotic. This is my mouth and my body and I am going to ask any question about any procedure that is prescribed. I am a social scientist with excellent benefits and I will always advocate for my health. He seemed to have little regard for me as a person with a brain. He didn't want to be questioned. Period. My regular dentist is Dr. Peligrinon. I always ask him questions and he is comfortable answering all of them. Thank goodness this is over. It was slightly an ordeal. I would moderately recommend this dentist but would highly recommend asking questions, especially if you are uncomfortable with what you are being told and what is being done to your mouth. It's your body. Your mouth. Your money. Your benefits. I work hard for mine, and deserve answers. Anyone who can't give them does not deserve my business. read more

Like the majority of people, we hate doctor's visits and especially dental visits. However, Dent First never fail to put me at ease. I've been going there for over 20 years and had the Dental Hygenist, Mishelle, for as long as I can remember. They take good care of you and your needs, lay out an organized and detailed invoice for a wellness plan so that there are no surprises, and all their fixes always lasts for years. At one point years ago, I had to go on disability and lost my insurance and therefore, couldn't maintain my check-ups. After 2 years, I got insurance again and decided to give Artistic Smiles a chance because of all the frills online and the hours were convenient and closer to me. Boy did I regretted it. Not only did I felt ripped off $3500+ (with insurance), Dent First ended up having to re-do all the cavitiy fillings and crowns that Artistic Smiles supposedly done. I've recommended this Duluth location to all my family and friends and we all go there continuously. Don't look further. This should be your go-to dental place. read more

But they kinda dropped the ball when I needed information from my primary so my procedure was delayed by to weeks but I will still given a chance cause sometimes people make mistakes read more

Ok...so...I'm not very fond of dentists generally! But, after 25 years I gave in to go for a general checkup and cleaning. I had ex rays, cleaning and assessment. The ex-ray was painless, no more painful clamping. The hygienist did an awesome job! She even went the extra mile to rub a numbing gel to help with any discomfort during the cleaning! No wait, smiling faces...and of course, my newly brightened smile! I will be back! read more

I haven't been to a dentist in almost 10 years, but my sister recommended this office so I could finally get a cleaning and some advice on some other concerns I had with my teeth (possible braces, etc). The staff was so sweet and I absolutely love Mishelle! She was very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. Now my mom can finally stop harassing me to go back to the dentist. I called the office & spoke with a gentlemen and explained to him that I was not aware of any appointment. He claimed someone called & spoke to me. I explained to him that was impossible, I had been out of town. The man said he would correct the bill, however he did not offer to reschedule the service, there was a lack of patient care & I was very disappointed. He was rude. I missed my appointment by mistake for the first time and I received a call that day with a attitude from the employee. I apologized and was not asked to reschedule and was never informed of a broken appointment charge of $65. This company could at least inform their patients of this information so there is no surprise even if you do sign documents stating there would be a charge. People forget and we could at least receive a first time warning. After this I will be seeking a new dental office. I'm highly upset about a $65 bill. You greedy monsters. read more

I had a root canal done in the Fall of 2010 and eight months later I was in pain again so they re-did the root canal but I was still in pain. After several attempts for them to fix it I ended up going to a different dentist and he sanded down the crown a bit and fixed the problem. We are not another year later and the root canal this office re-did is in need of fixing again. I would recommend this office to ANYONE. They don't know what they are doing, if I was a little more well off in the world I would take legal action. read more

I had numerous appointments for one root canal which I knew was odd and no one I knew had as many appointments as I had. It was a insurance milking scam. Best dentist location that I have ever been to. From the moment you walk through the door, you are greeted by everyone and they actually know you. It's like family and if you are in need of a rush appointment at the last minute, they do their best to squeeze you in that day, even if it means working a little over time. Dr. Mazik is the best, always has a good joke for you and you can tell he enjoys what he does, I think that he is one of those dentists that will practice his trade until he can no longer do it. I have had emergency treatment for my daughter and he came in on a Saturday night after they were closed to take care of her as she was in pain and he wasn't going to let her go until the next day with that pain. I came here for orthodontic care. Dr. mejia rarely saw me personally and I would often have to ASK to see her during an appointment. Her staff would claim she was busy although I would see her walking around the halls just staring off into space. The staff (minus the front desk) were rude and had attitude for no reason. Highly disappointing experience. I would recommend anyone looking for an orthodontist to go elsewhere. They may be slightly cheaper, but it is not worth it. And this is coming from someone who is always up for saving. read more

This place is horrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!! I made an appointment last year for my special needs son to get two cavities filled. The original quote we received was for the fillings to be white and that's what I expected. He was seen by Dr. Joseph Attardo. When it was time for me to pay for the services I was then notified that they put SILVER fillings in my son's mouth instead of white because of his saliva. I asked the doctor why didn't they let me know this because I was sitting in the lobby when it was being done and I wouldn't approved of silver especially since white has done before. No one had an answer then Dr. Attardo came out and was extremely rude and loud with me ( so much so I asked him to lower his voice and step back because he was in my space). Bottom line, I'm not happy because my son is epileptic and im not sure if he could possibly have a reaction to the metal being in his mouth. This place is the worst!!!! read more

I don't even want to rate this dentist office my experience was that bad. I had surgery last year & was very insistent on all my visits, especially the final, that I pay for all at time of the surgery. Full payment amount was given & confirmed before & after the surgery. I paid the amount in full the day of my surgery. Several months later, I found out that someone had not included one of the procedures & now quite a bit of money was due. I offered small monthly payment over time & was told by the billing manager? that it had to be paid quickly & higher monthly payments would be required. I saved for months in advance as I knew I would not be able to make any additional monthly payments. To make matters even worse, Betty, the billing manager?? denied the conversation we had where I offered making small monthly payments of $50. If this office has audio footage, like alot of offices do, they need to go back & listen to that day. I offered, I was turned down. Shame on you Betty for denying this when you know for a fact I offered. To top this off, they sent this to collections. I will go to court & report DentFirst to the Better Business Bureau before paying them one red cent. You should have taken my offer to pay monthly or write the amount off, since it was not my mistake & your office overlooked. SHAME ON YOU. read more
