Molly's Sweet Spot has been on my radar since before they even opened, but it took me a few weeks…read moreto get there for myself. In that time, my anticipation and expectations only grew. Still, after finally visiting, I was more than satisfied. The space is very bright and the treats are nicely showcased. Everyone working was friendly and very low pressure while I took a moment to look over all of the options. I was there within fifteen minutes of them opening on a Sunday, and everything was abundant then, but I know the cinnamon rolls go extremely quickly! So that does bring me to the sweets. I went with an assortment of things. I chose four donuts, two Boston cream, an almond crunch, and a cookies & cream. Each donut was very well prepared, without a trace of grease. They were very airy/pillowy, and the dough itself had great flavor. The Boston cream stood out. The filling was fresh, light, and didn't taste artificial like many custard filled donuts do. I appreciate that both filled varieties (the cookies & cream was filled as well) were split, which allowed for more filling much closer to the edges. More cream in every bite, which also made them easier to share/split. All three donuts were delicious, though. The cinnamon rolls really are as big as your head. I think cinnamon rolls vary a lot in style and it really depends on personal preference. These were denser, less bready, more like a fresher "Cinnabon". This bun had one of the gooey-est centers I've seen in a long time and the frosting wasn't cloyingly sweet, which was great. I also tried the cookie dough mousse cup, which had a base layer of chocolate cake. The mousse itself was extremely rich, a bit heavy for me, but very good. The texture was light and it was a well executed mousse, but come on, it's cookie dough mousse! Had it not been intensely cookie dough flavored/forward that would have been far more of a problem. It was excellent, just not something I was able to eat a lot of. The cake base was light and moist, and a brilliant counter. I felt the prices were definitely fair, and pretty standard. They usually have made cakes in the case, but also offer a lot of custom cake options. They looked gorgeous. And they also make a variety of other pastries and baked goods, like muffins, cake slices and cupcakes, cookies, and more. They have been switching it up and getting creative week to week. I was really impressed with my first visit to Molly's Sweet Spot, and highly recommend you check them out for yourself. I think they have big things in their future.
