My favorite local/small town ice cream place near where I live! I have been going here since I was little and other than a few changes it's been consistent. I've had several of my birthday cakes from here growing up because I prefer ice cream cake. It's always been great and made by the same sweet lady! I love blue moon ice cream and this place's was amazing. The flavor was so strong and the food coloring was not too much, I bought a pint to take home. Coach's is by far, the best local ice cream shop! The owner is super friendly and his mom makes the ice cream cakes. She is so helpful and accommodating. I've been going to Coach's for years now and I love that they are open late. I'm a chocolate, soft-serve with peanuts kind of customer and it's always been solid. I've ordered their hard ice cream for my parents and they LOVED it. It was fresh and not freezer-burned or anything. I've also ordered birthday cakes, which have always turned out PERFECT. This place passed out $1 OFF coupons to all 5 of my kids at the 2019 Memorial Day Parade. This ice cream place is nowhere near where we stay. We came all the way here for a sweet treat today, looking forward to using our $1 off coupons. There is a giant sign posted inside stating only one coupon per family. What!?!? Only $1 off coupon per family!? Nowhere on the coupon does it state only one coupon per family. Had I known that was the case I wouldn't of even told my kids to take the handed out coupons at the parade. Not only that but the lady who might have asked at the counter was nothing less than a rude and snarky. I stated that we drove quite a distance to come here, but that didn't phase her so I told her she will not be getting my business ever again. She didn't seem to mind that comment either. We moved to the neighborhood just over seven months ago. Naturally, we wanted to try the neighborhood ice cream shop. I eagerly decided to go there tonight with my husband. They have a really nice walk up window which was cool. I got coconut chocolate almond ice cream in a cup and my husband got chocolate in a cup. They were both unfortunately freezer burned. It was also Hershey ice cream. Not really too unique or even local.my husband said it was like going to Baskin Robbins. I figured this place would be great because they've got good reviews all over the place. I don't get why. They definitely need to get rid of the old ice cream. read more

Discovered this place two years ago and have lived 5 minutes away for 33 years. Who knew--obviously not me. Great owner, clean store, great service, great prices and best of all cold, cold ice cream (unlike a very popular overrated custard place). Coach's has a proprietary process of injecting hot fudge inside their custard twist cones. Oh my! So good. We come here at least once a week during warm weather, but they're open all year. Our Elementary school booked their Kona Ice truck for our last day of school Family Resource Fair. First they were late so when called were told ETA about 15-20 minutes had to get a new blade. The "owner" (I'm guessing?) is a real piece of work. If you like to talk circles he'd be the one to do it with. Apparently the Sterling Heights baseball league gives out these coupons for free cones. They are meant for player of the game. In this guys words.. players that catch the ball, try hard, run fast to the base, etc. So since the coach on my son's team recognized all of the players instead of picking one per game they couldn't use their coupons. Only 7 of the kids showed up for ice cream but since our "whole team" was there they refused to accept them. First because he couldn't take them all at once because it wasn't good for their business, then because they are supposed to only receive one per game, then because he can't have the line out the door, the list goes on... After every rebuttal he totally contradicted himself which led our conversation in circles. Even though for all he knew the kids could have each earned them in the 6 games we played prior but he says that didn't happen because the coach was there. So it was about the money but then it wasn't because he gives out free cones all the time. As if It would have made a difference money wise anyways considering the coupon is worth the same amount whether it's all used in one day or spread out. Not to 7 kids at a time though because there could be a line out their door and drive other customers away.. which there wasn't. It should be for kids who do good and try their best during the games... which all of the kids do. Then it was the coach just trying to get free ice cream out them... which isn't that what the coupons are for? We go there twice a week and sometimes in between but he doesn't care that we will no longer give them our business because he doesn't need customers like me because of my opinion. Don't worry buddy, like I stated in the first place, I won't be back. You won't ever have to worry about that. There is absolutely nothing special about your ice cream other than it was on our way home. read more
