I've taken many different classes here and all the instructors are great. Locker rooms are clean and there's also a family locker room for toddlers going swimming. Life Time has been an excellent experience so far. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which…read morereally makes this place stand out. Overall, it's a luxury gym that feels worth every penny. The first floor has a café, lounge, clean locker rooms with saunas and plunge pools, and multiple indoor and outdoor pools, including an adults-only option and fun water slides. They also have lifeguards on duty, which gives extra peace of mind for families. The second floor offers plenty of included classes, indoor basketball and pickleball courts, and a great Kids Club that keeps children active with real activities instead of screens. The third floor has top-notch weight and cardio equipment, guided workout tech, and recovery tools like hydromassage and compression therapy. There's plenty of space and equipment for serious lifting too. One of the best perks is the Kids Club and their programs. The teachers are caring and certified, and the activities are great. It's so convenient to drop the kids off for complimentary classes while adults work out. They even have Parent Night on weekends where you can drop the kids off for a few hours. It's an amazing perk if you have little ones. The swim program is another highlight. My kids love it and stay motivated when they see older kids dive. They really want to keep learning so they can do that too. The swimming instructors are caring, certified, and the coaching gets better as kids move up. There are always lifeguards on duty, which makes it feel extra safe. The family locker rooms are very convenient and always clean. Parking can be a bit of a hassle since it fills up quickly, but so far I've always been lucky enough to find a spot.

Melanie's profile caught my eye on the website of Bakar fitness. I have always been on the petite side naturally and one of my goals was to be able to gain muscle and be strong. I never thought it was possible for me to be very strong being a 5'3 and naturally skinny person. Melanie definitely proved me wrong! My proudest moment was when I was able to deadlift 185lbs (I was myself 107lbs). While the number of pounds gained/lost definitely shows progress and reflects great milestones in one's personal health journey, training with Melanie has helped me look at health beyond numbers. Training with Melanie has had cascading positive effects in my life. I have become more disciplined when it comes to my health which in turn has improved my diet, reduced my anxiety, helped with my insomnia. Melanie is definitely unique in her approach. I have had several trainers where training means 1 hour of working out with them every week. Melanie is not your average trainer. She cares deeply about her clients and goes above and beyond for them. Outside of our 1 hour of training, to give an example of how Melanie came through as a coach for me - She gave me a nutritional program and kept me accountable. I broke my wrist from a bike ride; Mel helped me train my lower body in isolation for multiple months which helped me stay healthy physically and emotionally. I also had a shoulder surgery from a sports injury. I experienced a lot of atrophy and stiffness after the surgery. Melanie has supported me over the last 2 years to build back my strength and range of motion. I can do pull ups again! I have gained a lot of strength and muscle with her programs. Melanie is not a trainer that just cares about the number of pounds dropped/gained or to just get you high numbers for squats or deadlifts. She is very cognizant of injuries, she puts a lot of focus on conditioning and stretching and taking care of your body like it is a temple. She is extremely educated about anatomy. These qualities differentiates Melanie's programs from just another personal training experience. People often think having a personal trainer is not worth the money. Why pay someone when you can google exercises/programs. Having done my share of googling programs and investing in a personal trainer like Melanie, I can definitely say I am better off with Melanie. I look at health differently now and investing in having an expert like Melanie has definitely been the right choice and the returns have been more than worth it.

She is knowledgeable, non judgmental, kind and tailors the training for me! She always takes into account my aches , pains, post surgical condition, schedule, events, nutrition - you name it - Coach Melanie has always made adjustments that help me in my journey. I am so impressed by her! I met Coach Melanie at the UCSF Bakar Fitness Center when I barely exercised after a cervical spine surgery years ago. I was having back and nerve pain and I hadn't done a triathlon or run in eons, couldn't do a push-up and didn't exercise regularly. After working with Coach Melanie I strength train consistently ( super important for us all!), completed the sprint distance Honolulu triathlon, a couple of 10k's and few metric century rides and am on my way to more! My goal is to one day complete the iron- person distance tri and if anyone can help me get there it's Coach Melanie. We talk over nutrition I even meal prep now - not something I did before. I've had a few trainers over the years but Coach Melanie is the absolute best! I also really respect her values and am impressed by her own health, wellness and fitness journey. She's a fantastic person! Start training with Coach Melanie now to progress in your journey - no matter your level. You'll not regret it

One of the hardest realizations that a disabled veteran has to make is waking up one day in your…read more40's and realizing that you have an additional 150 pounds on your body. You think to yourself "how did I end up in this bad of shape". As a young adult in the military, I knew all about physical fitness and loved the outdoor activities and exercise that came with the responsibility of being in the service. Due to my disability, being mobile and active has not been a part of my daily routine for years. I have tried many gyms and a few personal trainers in the past, but none have met or exceeded my expectations the way that Grant Nelson has. When I first met Grant, I had severe knee pain and high blood pressure. During my time with Grant my blood pressure has lowered by a substantial amount which has allowed me to discontinue my daily medications. My knee pain has improved to the point where I can now climb stairs normally, and I am pain free on most days. I have lost 24 pounds in 3 months. He is a caring, cheerful, professional. He explains that my workout is different from any of his other clients because of my fitness level. My workout has been tailored for me. He coaches me on nutrition, fitness, wellness, and overall health. After several bad experiences with personal trainers, I was determined that I was only going to use the first three sessions offered by Boom Fitness to learn how to use the exercise machines properly and be done. Grant has made me a believer on how a caring and passionate personal trainer can change someone's life and provide stability and support for my well-being. Thank you Grant, I am very grateful.

A manager handled a simple membership dues issue by yelling across the entire gym floor that my partner "could not work out until a fee was paid." This was done loudly, publicly, and with zero respect. My partner and I are both long-time Crunch members, and no one should be treated like that over a billing question. It was embarrassing to watch and even worse to experience. Situations like that should be handled privately and professionally, not broadcast across a room full of people. What made it more concerning is that employees mentioned this manager has a pattern of yelling at staff as well. If that is true, it is a serious culture problem, not just a one-time mistake. Crunch promotes a welcoming environment, but this was the exact opposite. I will be following up with management directly, but this needs to be addressed immediately. No member or employee should be treated this way.

After touring the gyms I came away with the impression that Stafford was by far the best gym in the area. The staff is superb and the gym and equipment are clean. None of that terrible "gym" smell that you often get at the gyms as they age. I have been a member for about 6 months and really have enjoyed my time. Pros: -Women's locker room doesn't feel super dated. That was honestly a big reason I went with this gym, it was one of the few with a sauna/steam room that weren't disgusting. -Equipment/facility is generally in good condition and clearly proper upkeep is done. -Staff is kind and instructors seem to really care. Special shout out to Genevieve and Janet! -Yoga/pilates room is new and beautiful -This is a bit of a silly one but I love the room that used to be for bikes is now available for those who want a quieter space to work out if the other room has a class going on. Cons: -The class options for before/after normal work hours are incredibly limited. I am more of a class person and have been consistently disappointed with how few options there are. Generally, I think the gym caters to retirees/those who don't work a traditional 9-5 schedule. -Gym area is rather small. This definitely is more of a tennis club and the footprint of the area with fitness equipment is small in comparison to other gyms in the area. I have never had too much trouble waiting for equipment but when it's busy, it can feel cramped.
