How this place is still open, I have no idea. I'm not even in the mood for any Yelp theatrics,…read morefriends. This shit is serious. And by that I mean seriously terrible. I made an appointment with Edward to see an apartment. Not only was he 20 minutes late, the apartment was apparently no longer available, BUT he had "a great place" to show me! Isn't it swell how life just works out like that???? DISCLAIMER: Having had subleased places most of my adult life, this was the first apartment hunt for me, and so I was very naive. Had I not been, I would have walked away without a doubt. Anyhow, we walked over to this other place and it turned out to not be too bad. Edward assured me he would negotiate the rent down by $100. Sounds too good to be true? Bear with me, it was. My wife and I submitted all required paperwork and were told that we were approved. Fantastic! We were going away for the weekend and were looking forward to coming back and signing the lease. However, it all started going downhill once we got back to town. The landlord kept asking us for more and more information, which was infuriating because WE HAD ALREADY BEEN APPROVED. DON'T TELL PEOPLE THAT THEY'RE APPROVED ONLY TO SNATCH THE APARTMENT AWAY. You might be thinking "why is this guy yelling about the landlord?" Well, it's only because Edward ignored my phonecalls, texts, and e-mails, only to eventually E-MAIL (not even text back, knowing the urgency of the situation) me back saying the place is not available. This was later translated into the landlord demanding 3 MONTHS SECURITY DEPOSIT upon moving in if we still wanted the place. REMINDER: we had submitted all necessary paperwork and were fully qualified for this apartment. TL;DR This place is a nightmare. Avoid it if you value your time and money and don't have enough of either to spare. Go to MYSpaceNYC. They have great no fee apartments, and despite the fact that the landlord pays their brokers' fees, THEY WORK FOR YOU. After this atrocity transpired we went to MySpaceNYC, found a beautiful apartment and literally signed the lease within 48 hours. Oh yeah. IT WAS CHEAPER BECAUSE OF NO FEE! SUCK ON THAT, RAPID!

Long story short, Jeffrey got me an apartment and he was great. He was friendly, communicative,…read morealways on time, and showed integrity, which is saying A LOT for an NYC broker, given that in general they have as much of a reputation for integrity as week-old tofu. Jeffrey rescued me from broker hell, I was seriously about to shoot someone. Then he showed me five or six different places in the space of an hour (yay car!). Even though I really liked the first one (which was the most expensive one) and probably would have just taken it if he didn't show me anything else, he took me to all the places he knew about. He even spent a good ten minutes negotiating with a management company to get me in to see one last place (which was the cheapest one -- i.e. less commission for him), which was the one I ended up taking. So, that's pretty danged cool in my book. If I'm gonna pay someone that much money to find me an apartment, this is how I expect to be treated. Givette was also great, who was the "processor" for my application. She also answered all my questions and even helped me change my lease signing date at the last minute when something came up. I would definitely recommend these folks to friends.

Well I wasn't going to write another review but since Barak from Blue Egg replied to my last…read morereview, I felt it was necessary that I point out the inaccuracies of his comment to further illustrate the level of unprofessionalism and total shadiness of Blue Egg. Barak has claimed that they did not violate the lease by entering the apartment without giving us notice. Fortunately, I still have a copy of my old lease and I'm attaching a photo of the section that clearly states "Further, during the last (3) months of the Term of this Lease, Landlord may enter the Unit to show the Unit to prospective tenants, upon giving 24 hour notice." UPON GIVING 24 HOUR NOTICE And I am also surprised that Barak claims that Blue Egg doesn't allow people to apply remotely because when I found the unit on Craigslist, the ad specifically said they work with people who are currently living out of state. That's actually one of the reasons why I applied and throughout the process, the agents assured me that it was no problem to complete the process remotely. It seems like Blue Egg relies on that because it makes it easier to take advantage of people. Also, the pictures I saw on the ad were of common spaces in the unit and when I requested photos of the room, and I even requested dimensions, the agents kept saying they would send them soon but of course, they never did. Kate would tell me that Elizabeth would send them, Elizabeth said Kaye would send them. It was either a conspiracy or total lack of communication but both are unacceptable. I understand that no company is perfect but Blue Egg does not take responsibility for their mistakes and instead, they put the blame on the clients. Also, I don't even know who Barak is so I'm not sure why he is claiming to know so much about my specific situation since he wasn't even a part of it. Your move, Blue Egg.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SALVATORE SICA…read more While my boyfriend and I were searching for our first apartment together, I found a charming Bayside rental on Trulia. I left a message at the number provided in the web listing, and received a call back the next morning. Sal was very professional, charismatic, and straightforward. After viewing the apartment later that week, he did everything he could to make sure our application was perfect. We had some trouble acquiring documented proof of my boyfriend's income/credit/tax status, since he's self-employed in the construction field, but we were able to work things out in the end. Sal works very quickly and thoroughly - and I was especially impressed by his frequent texts and calls to update and support us throughout the entire process. Yesterday, the co-op board called us to schedule an interview for next week and it's pretty much guaranteed that we're going to be approved. :)

Being that it was our first time renting, we weren't sure what to expect from the apartments, agents, overall experience. These guys seemed to know the area well with some of the agents living in the neighborhood and knowing local shops, restaurants, etc. Jessica originally showed us the apartment we ended up renting along with 1 or 2 other similar units and while we were prepared to move forward on our unit, there were a number of repairs that we pointed out would need to be taken care of before our move. Fast forward a week or two and after being reassured by Jessica and Filomena that all repairs had been completed (LIE), we signed the lease and moved in. Imagine our surprise when we get the keys, move in and none of the repairs have been made. These were not small repairs by the way. Imagine moving in to your first apartment and having NO COLD WATER in the shower and sink! In addition, the apartment had no smoke/carbon monoxide detectors (how is this even possible in a modern co-op?) and the window in the kitchen would not fully close meaning we had an ant and insect issue (I eventually cauked myself and sent the landlord the bill). The cold water issue was due to the pipes being fully rusted, and they had to be replaced after we had already moved in. The entire process took a month and involved us having to take days off from work since the maintenance crew at the co-op works an extremely convenient 9-5 with an hour or two lunch thrown in (much love to the Union!) and needed to coordinate with an outside plumber to complete the job. We were assured that these issues had been taken care of before moving in (LIE). The agents that we worked with were incompetent and unprofessional. They were no where to be found once I reached out to complain about the cold water issue, not surprising as they had already collected their commission and moved on without a care in the world. I have told friends who are looking in Queens to avoid these guys at all costs and I suggest you do the same.
