Well I wasn't going to write another review but since Barak from Blue Egg replied to my last review, I felt it was necessary that I point out the inaccuracies of his comment to further illustrate the level of unprofessionalism and total shadiness of Blue Egg. Barak has claimed that they did not violate the lease by entering the apartment without giving us notice. Fortunately, I still have a copy of my old lease and I'm attaching a photo of the section that clearly states "Further, during the last (3) months of the Term of this Lease, Landlord may enter the Unit to show the Unit to prospective tenants, upon giving 24 hour notice." UPON GIVING 24 HOUR NOTICE And I am also surprised that Barak claims that Blue Egg doesn't allow people to apply remotely because when I found the unit on Craigslist, the ad specifically said they work with people who are currently living out of state. That's actually one of the reasons why I applied and throughout the process, the agents assured me that it was no problem to complete the process remotely. It seems like Blue Egg relies on that because it makes it easier to take advantage of people. Also, the pictures I saw on the ad were of common spaces in the unit and when I requested photos of the room, and I even requested dimensions, the agents kept saying they would send them soon but of course, they never did. Kate would tell me that Elizabeth would send them, Elizabeth said Kaye would send them. It was either a conspiracy or total lack of communication but both are unacceptable. I understand that no company is perfect but Blue Egg does not take responsibility for their mistakes and instead, they put the blame on the clients. Listen, I don't know about you, but I don't have time to find a few hundred landlords who have real apartments (ahhh the classic NYC bait and switch, who doesn't love that), and then have them let me know when they will be available for rent. Moving in NYC sucks. Like really, reallllly sucks. It's expensive, you have to see a few million places before you find one in your price range that isn't a POS, and when you do find it, there is a 50/50 chance that someone has already put an offer in on it. Enter Blue Egg, who took all the stress of finding a place for us away. I honestly believe it was absolutely worth the fee we paid them to do so*. We saw a ton of teeny tiny apartments in lower Manhattan the first night we were apartment hunting**. We were also in the LES way way later than we thought we would be. Yahav, our SUPER chill, and nice realtor was understanding and told us to take our time. When we finally got over there, he was waiting to show us the first of three places he picked for us, after learning our budget and needs (aka, we have a small dog, so dog-friendly only please). After seeing the first place, we went to the second and third via his car (yep, they drive you around which is super nice, as you get to see more than one neighborhood with them in one day) to two other equally nice places. Our biggest problem wasn't "oh man they hooked is with a unit we can't afford" or "these apartments are shit", it was "damn, we just saw three really awesome apartments, what are the pros and cons of each". To make an already long story short, Yahav got us our apartment in one night and took the proverbial weight off our shoulders. Once we confirmed we wanted (the first one he showed us), Elizabeth back at the office made the application super easy. We sent her all the required docs***, she put an offer into the landlord the same day. We found out we got our apartment within 24 hours after seeing it, which was insanely good feeling. My only qualm with Blue Egg is that the office is WAY out on the J train, but I am sure this keeps their overhead down (and Yahav did mention they had a ton of great apartments over this way, but the commute wouldn't have worked for us...with balconies even...tears). I was fine once we got there, but man did it take forever to do so. They were also not present at the lease signing, which I found a little odd, but they did hook us up with a super cool landlord who didn't seem to be stressed out at all, which really lightened the mood. ________ *Also, the fee was 1 month, which is SO much better than 15% of the yearly rent that a lot of folks are charging now - do the math, a 2500$ a month apartment is either a 2500$ fee at one month or 4500$ at 15 percent..so yeah, thank you for not killing us financially Blue Egg. ** you know, that super fun two-week window you have to find a place in NYC, unless you're willing to have two rents at once? insanity I tell you. *** pro tip, put your last three paystubs, two years of tax returns current landlord letter, and photo ID pic in google drive, it makes stuff like this SO much easier read more

After getting totally screwed out of our first choice apartment at the last minute, my roommate and I were in a very serious jam. With no apartment and less than 10 days until move out, we both frantically emailed every listing on the usual apartment hunt channels. Martin, who was showing apartments for Blue Egg, went above and beyond to help us, driving my roommate around Brooklyn to look at several different spots in various neighborhoods. We eventually settled on a perfect apartment just within our price range and submitted our applications and a deposit that day. Although there were several holidays during our paperwork period, Elizabeth (the best!!!) was quick to reply even after business hours to let us know the status of our application. Elizabeth worked with the apartment owners to get our application approved. She really went way above and beyond what was required and I honestly can not type enough good things bout her. I was hesitant to work with Blue Egg because they have a few negative reviews, but after this experience and re-reading those carefully, it's clear that some people just do not understand how security deposits and applications are supposed to work. In the end, this was by far the most pleasant experience I've ever had with a broker. We really felt as though they had our back and their services bolstered the strength of our application. This company gets 4 stars mainly because Dave is probably the most friendly realtor agent that I've ever met and he actually went out of his way to make sure that I was happy or at least given peace of mind. He showed me a few places that I was ok with but didn't give me the feeling that I wanted, but then he found another unit and sent me a video of it and I loved it and ultimately took it. There was some tricky miscommunication in the advertising of the unit prices as the rent was advertised at $50 less than what the actual monthly price is when in fact it was just the first month's move-in price. I don't see the reason to advertise the place at the first month's rent price when in fact you'll be paying a higher rate for the next 11 months. Nevertheless, communication with Elizabeth at the office was easy and prompt. My experience in the office was "meh." I didn't particularly feel valued when I went in to sign my lease and they didn't have all of the information available for me, but things were partially taken care of eventually. read more

There are so many horrible real estate companies and brokerages in NY that finding an apartment can be one of the most frustrating and painful aspects of living in NYC. I had been looking on craigslist for some time and was disappointed and frustrated by fake listing after fake listing. Seeing pictures of an apartment and the. Being taken to see a place that was nothing even resembling the picture or description. I found my current apartment on craigslist and Kate the broker promptly responded to me and was polite, helpful, and worked around my schedule to show me the apartment without making me feel like she was doing me a favor. I enjoyed working with her so much and the apartment was even better than the online description. That day I put down my deposit and the process only got easier from there. I mostly dealt with Elizabeth, who was a great resource and always quick with a response to all of my questions and concerns. We worked with Daniella and she was the freakin best. I have already passed along her information to several of my friends, some of which found a place with her as well. Normally, I cannot get along with brokers. They don't listen to you, they show you places you can't afford, and will elevate your expectations but never deliver. This was the complete opposite with Daniella, who was the one who worked with us to find our place. She really listened to what we were interested in, was honest about what we could get and where, and showed us some amazing places. We weren't even considering Bushwick, but the place she showed us was awesome and now we're in love with the area. Also, I get kind of anxious when I know I have to talk to a stranger for an extended period of time, but Daniella was just really awesome and made conversation easy. So bonus points for easing my fear of uncharted conversation. I can't recommend Daniella enough. She has restored faith in my cold dead heart when it comes to brokers and realtors. read more

I had started working with a different agency and the broker, while nice, showed me 2 properties that really didn't fit what my boyfriend and I were looking for. I called Lavie after seeing an ad on Craigslist. The place was amazing. Unfortunately, the owner ultimately didn't take our cute dog so we were back in the game. Lavie showed me 3 properties that were all excellent looking and in great neighborhoods. He worked with my schedule as a teacher and definitely was flexible as my boyfriend was overseas. We ultimately decided on a located just a short walk from where he grew up. When he returned, Lavie met us again to show him the apartment even though the deal was all done. I would definitely recommend working with Blue Egg Realty. All around the experience was made less stressful due to Lavie and Elizabeth. I had a very good experience working with Blue Egg, specifically Ariel and Elizabeth. I found a place on Trulia and Ariel was able to work with me to have my brother tour the apartment since I was out of state at the time. He also helped me to get a slightly lower price on the apartment, which is always great. Elizabeth helped me with filling out my applications and she always answered my questions through email very promptly. There were quite a few application fees; $75 each for my roommate and I and then $105 each for our 2 guarantors. There was also some miscommunication in the office when I went in to sign my lease because nobody could find 'Josh' who apparently has all the answers. But all in all my time working with Blue Egg went very quickly and smoothly and I really felt that Ariel and Elizabeth were on my side and were excited for me. read more

Elizabeth was really great to work with. She was really easy to reach, extremely responsive and super friendly. They have an online application option for apartments but I think they charge 4% for processing fees if you use a credit card to put down deposits, so I did my application in person to avoid the fee. I actually recommend applying in person because there were a couple of times that I had questions with what I should fill out when it came to some things (emphasis on the "some!"). Most of the application was really straightforward though! It's a lot smoother if you come prepared with all necessary documents but I think that goes without saying! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because my "screening" process was not the best. The person who was asking me questions on income, budget, etc. failed to truly listen to all the things I had said in our email exchange. read more
