I ended up with a pretty good deal. One thing to highlight is that JR even recommended that I take a rental instead of a condo which I was considering and where he'd make a larger broker's fee. That really speaks to the long-term relationship JR and Bona Tierra try to foster with their clients. I highly recommend anyone moving to Manhattan to reach out and work with JR! I finally met with Ariel on Friday the 7th of November. And let me go on to tell you what a…read moredisappointing experience that was. I find it amazing that all these Yelp reviews hold him and your company in such high regard, yet here I am with my own experience and it was nothing like any of these reviews. We originally were supposed to meet at 6pm to view 351 Central Avenue in Jersey City. Then, that got pushed back due to the fact that the current tenant wouldn't be home. That's fine. But I had left Ariel a voicemail message explaining that we could meet anywhere between 6:15-6:30pm to see a similar apartment in the same building. He calls me back, not having listening to his voicemail to hear that I told him the times I mentioned above. So we verbally agreed to meet within that 15 minute time frame. I text Ariel at 6:15 to let him know that my boyfriend and I were on our way to meet him. No reply. 6:30, I tell him we're there. No reply. 6:35, still nothing. We go into a nearby store, at 6:45. THAT'S when he called me. Explaining that he was showing another apt. Are you kidding me? That's not only rude, but extremely unprofessional. Not to mention, that I've now lost a few hours of pay because I left work early. When Ariel finally showed up, he didn't even apologize for being late! Finally, he shows us the apartment and there are ROACHES EVERYWHERE. Apparently, someone decided to bomb the apartment before we got there. I've never seen anything like that in my life. When I say everywhere, I mean that in every sense of the word. I've never seen anything like that - and for your company to show something like that, you should be ashamed of yourselves! I can now scratch your company off my list for trying to help me find a place. Two chances- and they've both been blown.

Thank you, Mr. Hill for following up. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At first BAB seemed like a professional, prompt establishment. However, the agent I worked with, Melissa, basically lied about many details of the apartment I ended up renting and was only out to make her part of the commission. The apartment was being "renovated" when I saw it. Melissa said the landlord would replace everything, put screens in the window and that the apartment came with a ceiling fan in the kitchen. Melissa stated that the landlord is great and the "super" does excellent work. She was very persistent when it came to collecting the deposits and fees, but her dedication fell off shortly afterwards. I requested to see the apartment again before the move in date to ensure all repairs had been made. BAB was unable to make that happen and began diverting my questions to the agent representing the landlord. On my move-in date, the "super" was still repairing the bathroom, there were no refrigerator or stove, the ceiling fan had been replaced with a used light fixture, the windows did not have any screens, and a filthy stove hood was in the kitchen. (The appliances were delivered after 6 PM that evening. Therefore, I didn't have any heat because National Grid could not turn on the gas without a stove.) Over the last month, I have made several requests to have BAB do something about all these issues, but nothing has been done. When I began my complaint to Melissa, she tried to say that she didn't say everything would be "new" or "replaced". She basically just stopped responding to me. At that time, Ernest became the contact person, and he assured that everything would be taken care of. He claimed to have contacted the landlord's agent and more useless promises were made. I was told that the super would replace the hood and install the screens "when the weather got warmer". I recently followed up with the super and he told me that he doesn't install screens. Communication has been horrible. They haven't even been able to supply a contact number for management...just the address to mail monthly rent checks. This has been a disappointing experience. My next step will be contacting a lawyer to see what my rights are concerning this mishap. I have a huge paper trail to document everything. It's great to see how wonderful BAB has been for everyone else...wish it could have been for me as well.
