I can go on ALL day. If you don't know what to get, just ask - but again, you can't go wrong. The green chile pork nachos were the SHIIIT! Don't even get me started on the customer service. It was cold this past weekend and not being able to dine in these Cali dining establishments sucks for everyone but Clutch is out here trying to bring the inside to you outside. They seated us at a cute little spot in their back area! Although construction is going on pretty close to the facility, DO NOT let that stop you from sitting your cute ass down and ordering from this god send of a food establishment. You place your order at the window, find your ideal spot then the rest is just an experience. From bringing the food, checking to see if you need anything else, to even picking up your trash to help clear the table. They even pulled an additional heater out for us because we were cold. Been back a bunch of times in the last year and the food has been incredible. The service can be a bit spotty but it's bananas right now in the service industry so I have very low expectations. I really like the added patio area in the back. It's so chill. Everything I've had has been great. I love the wings most of all. The pulled pork is awesome. I would highly recommend the sandwich. I live for the Caesar salad. The tater tots are so good, always perfectly crispy. I still haven't tried brunch but I'm sure it's great and looking forward to it. Parking at this location can beat bit tight but I can only imagine that it's worth it. I say imagine because I haven't personally taste their food but what I did notice as an Uber Eat driver is that they go far and beyond to please their customers. Joslyn (one of the team members) was trying to get her customer (the one I was picking up for) on the phone because they were out of salmon and that's what the customer wanted. We got the combo platters and the pulled pork and brisket was awful. Dry and crispy. The brisket was grilled on one side which is why I assume it was so dry. Years ago, this was a pretty good spot. Not sure if it's a new owner (don't recall tacos/burritos back then) but man what a disappointment The bbq was awful. The pork felt it was boiled, the ribs were super dry and the wings were like eating cardboard. No bark on anything which makes me wonder how are they smoking things? Dear Clutch I adore you, I appreciate your efforts (and execution) of COVID pre-cautions, I love your food (please put those mini bean & cheese burritos on the menu, they are perfect), but what I really wanted to call out was my obsession with your chipotle-spicy mayo-ish sauce that you serve with your fries and/or tots. During safer-at-home, I would try to make sure to order for you weekly, so that I could get some extra sauce to jazz up my mediocre home cooking. Now that you're open, I try to sweet talk the gentleman who mans the front for some extra sauce to take home as well. I love it so much and wish you would bottle it so that I can "put that sh*t on everything." Came here over the weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday! Such a cute vibe to this restaurant. The tables were separate from each other respecting the social distance guidelines. It was my first time here so wasn't sure what to order. We ended up picking quite a few things from menu and shared. My favorite was the fish tacos and wings. So much flavor and very filling. For desert we had the churros and wow they were so good. Our waiter Kristen was absolutely amazing. So friendly and attentive. I was expecting way more and received a disappointing mix of service and food/drink. First off, I walk in around 3:30pm on a Tuesday and only one patron was there. I understand the slow times so I didn't think anything of it. Everyone stared at me when I walked in which made me uneasy. I never been to this spot so I was confused as to where to order. I was directed to the front patio area. I ordered the smoked wings, collard greens, and street corn. I also got a lemonade ($5). My total was $30. This seemed high but I hoped the food would live up to the cost. NEGATIVE. The wings were dry and lacked flavor, the greens were not soft and had a tangy taste, the street corn was ok but messy, the lemonade was not sweet at all and was watered down. On top of it all, I asked for a box and they just out up the Happy Hour sign. The wings were on HH for $9 i stead of the $16 I paid. Why would they not mention the HH specials when it was clearly within the time. I really feels got and I will not return or suggest this spot to anyone. Dig Clutch I just started coming back here since just before the pandemic. Love all the outdoor seating and it seems the menu has evolved in a good way! If you have read some of my other posts you know I am big into "Neighborhood" joints and for that combined with the killer food here, Clutch does not disappoint. On a post-Christmas evening, this place really came in "Clutch" as it was one of the few spots opened after a nearby restaurant ended up dark inside for dinner. I was craving a bit of Mexican regardless and Clutch turned out to be a great venue for my friends and I to catch up over some drinks and bites. They have a covered "outdoor" section that has heat lamps (but why Southern California?) that we ended up chilling with large TV screens around, giving it a sports bar feel. The food here is a bit overpriced but we were graced with a Taco Tuesday menu that lent itself to $5 tacos, ceviches, and some discounted margaritas and beer options. All of us ended up ordering their Laulau Pork Taco which was pretty damn amazing. The soft taco had some great smoky flavor and was actually pretty sizable considering it was only meant to be one taco. My ceviche was beautifully presented and tasted fresh with the seafood and avocado blend. Definitely approved! Throughout the night, we received some great service that also shared some good laughs. Clutch was definitely a great spot for my friends to reconnect on such short notice and I would say that they're worth the shot, at least for a Taco Tuesday or other Happy Hour date. read more

I came here with some friends for dinner last week and we all loved the place. We got here around 630 and there was no wait, which was nice because the place was busy but not packed. Happy hour goes until 7 but we didn't see much on the happy hour menu that appealed to us. We did order some drinks though from the happy hour menu. I got a margarita which was good but nothing special. We ended up ordering the 5 meat combo, which came with tri tip, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and sausage. It also came with your choice of 2 sides and we got the mac and cheese and fries. There was more than enough food for the 3 of us and at $59, I felt like it was a good value given the amount of food, the quality, and the location. My favorite meat was the pulled pork, which was smokey and somewhat sweet, and really juicy. Everything else was also good, although the tri tip was a bit dry. They had about 3-4 different types of BBQ sauce on the table to accompany the food, ranging from slightly sweet to really spicy. These went well with the different types of meat. The fries were good but they were just fries and didn't stand out to me. The mac and cheese was amazing! You definitely need to order this if you come here. I could have eaten the whole order by myself. Too bad I had to share! We also ordered the cheddar and jalapeño biscuits to start, which were yummy and come 3 to an order. I would definitely recommend coming here. I've tried most of the BBQ places on the west side and this stands out as the best to me. Literally, I went to the restaurant a year ago and searched through high waters to find the name of the restaurant to recommend to a friend who frequents LA. I had the dry rub ribs with the sweet potato fries. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection. The fries were crisp and sweet. My sisters, (almost) brother-in-law and I were hungry while in Venice Beach, so this place was super clutch! *giggles* Luckily for a Sunday lunch, there was no wait. It's a cute, aesthetically pleasing restaurant with such a hipster ambiance--perfect for LA, right? I really did enjoy everything about it, though... Except for the restroom. I could do without the stench. (I don't mind all-gender restrooms, but I think the urinal played a big factor in why I wanted to throw up using their facilities.) All of us shared the smoked wings, and the meat came right off the bone. It was so delectable! The dry rub ribs were just as scrumptious, too. My sister and I order a burger with fries (I forgot which) and we honestly each could've finished an entire one ourselves. It was good, not the best burger. My other sister's pozole was really tasty, as well! All in all, food was up to par. Our first waitress was off in the middle of our meal, and normally they tell you that, but instead our new waiter told us. I don't remember her name, but our replacement server was Derek, and he was a joy! There was a red-headed waitress who came up to our table when the bill was ready without saying a word, then my sister passed her the bill telling her it was ready. It was really awkward. We also gave change just so we could get an even amount back, and she gave it back to us saying that they round. Then I got my receipt, and it wasn't rounded. Clutch was CLUTCH. Stopped by for brunch on a whim (having spied the nice patio area everytime I drive up Lincoln,) and walked out pretty impressed. Menu is an interesting blend of Mexican-inspired and bbq dishes...but somehow it all just works. We ordered the tri-tip with eggs and the pulled pork scramble, and just...YUM. Also, can we say TATER TOTS? Loved that it was a side option. The perfect pair for a boozy brunch and/or hangover cure, but the food definitely feels elevated. Extra points for their homemade sauces that were also on point. Service was great...our server was Alanna whose personality in and of itself compelled us to stay for more than one round of drinks. She even offered a tasting when we couldn't decide which wines to commit to. Only minor downside is they only serve beer/wine so their cocktails are soju-based, but according to her, they are just as good. The "manmosa" made me laugh (double the mimosa served in a mug instead of a flute). The photos I snapped just to capture how good that meal was have me salivating. I'll definitely be back. read more

There are many good restaurants in Venice but clutch one of the best. The fusion of barbeque and Mexican cuisine is perfect. The pulled pork sandwich was smoky and I could tell it was fresh from the grill. The wings were also fairly decent with smokiness as well. The churros were amazing and same with the tater tots. We had just seen show on the Food Channel featuring Clutch in Venice, and their Taco Tuesday night Gringo Tacos which looked scrumptious. It was a rare occasion for us to even be in the area, but since it was Tuesday, this was a no-brained. Mama (Connie) gave us a warm greeting in this quaint, clean and spacious little enclave off Lincoln Ave. Unfortunately Taco Tuesday didn't start until 4:00pm, but with such a nice greeting, and an incredibly vast and creative menu, "Go with the Flow" prevailed. The spicy margarita was beautifully prepared, not too sweet, light and nicely spicy. Mama said they use an agave tequila. The smoked chicken tacos with fresh corn tortilla strips and sauce were very good. My pulled pork enchiladas with mole, cilantro rice and beans were a nice variant from the standard carnitas, and much tastier than traditional pulled pork. We ordered a Cobb salad with chicken to go, and were pleasantly surprised to see they packed the chicken and the bacon/onions separately. Mama came by to chat with us, and we talked about the great spices in Mexican food like epizote, and the different ingredients in a great mole and she invited us back to try the Gringo tacos and the Sunday brunch. There are many items we would like to return to try, so a return visit will be in order soon! If you're in the Venice area, this is a must try Cali-Mex spot. read more

Cool spot to just hang out. Indoor & outdoor space - both areas have TVs. Decent selection of drinks and food. It's 1/2 bbq and 1/2 Mexican. The bbq was so-so, Mexican options seemed better - my friend got the nachos and enjoyed them. Churros were actually pretty good too. Service was quick too. You can order at the window or just scan the QR code at your table (at least the ones in the back patio) and order/pay through the site. There's a small parking lot too (~8 spaces). We love Clutch! Pre-pandemic we used to stop here during the guaranteed Lincoln traffic jam during rush hour and always enjoyed the food. We ordered delivery a few times over the last year and a half and just recently started dining out again. We always enjoyed sitting on the patio and love that Clutch added more outdoor seating in the back. Even though it's in the parking lot, it is still a nice ambiance. There's a TV that's usually playing a game. We hope they keep the extra seating well after the pandemic is over. The California Citrus salad is one of my faves...simple, but delicious. My husband likes to get the Mexican Grande Plate with chicken. And the Casamiento is yummy with fried plantains, black beans and rice. My toddler loves their tater tots and French fries, and the Mac 'n cheese is pretty darn good too. Their agua frescas are also really yummy. We really appreciate that all of the staff are still masked up and tables are spaced out. We feel very safe and comfortable when there with our toddler. We've already been back 3 times in the last week and a half. Clutch will continue to be one of our regular spots! read more

I've ordered from this place a couple of times and always thought their food was good. This time I ordered the Caesar salad and thought it tasted great. I prefer my Caesar more on the anchovy and garlicky vinaigrette side so I really liked the dressing. Nice patio facing Lincoln Blvd which is even dog friendly! Came back to try those AMAZING and VERY SMOKEY chicken wings -- totally different than you would find in most sports bars. Would order these again in a heartbeat. The G/F loved her veggie tacos too. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the smoked/grilled Octopus. Clutch is no longer. I guess this place went through a change and now the sign outside says Cervateca. Although, when you're inside there are signs of the original Clutch. We used to come here because they had fantastic wings and ribs. That's pretty much what this place was known for. But now, they've expanded their menu, which isn't a bad thing, but it's pretty much a Mexican restaurant now. So they still have the Clutch classics like wings and ribs but it's just not the same. It's not bad, but again, not the same. You also now have to order at the counter yourself and grab a number and sit. So it's a self serve type of place now. And, those fantastic sauces they used to have on the table, they are gone. However, they do provide sauces on the side with your order which is great. But I really hate when a great restaurant that had a great thing going decides to rebrand. It never works. read more
