Been coming here for years now. That happy hour never disappoints, and those sauces are such a great add to anything on the menu.

I was really interested to try this spot, as I've passed by it quite a few times. We ordered the BBQ platter, so we could try a bunch of different BBQ meats and sides. Everything came out very burnt and crispy. I suspect that is their style of BBQ. It worked for some things and less so for others... My favorite was the tri-tip. It worked well with the char on the outside but the meat still retained its tenderness. It was very flavorful. Some of the wings were good -- crispy on the outside, but other wings were too dry. Same with the ribs. I was initially excited for this, but as I continued eating, found that some of the ribs had really dried out. I thought that the collards worked well with the super charred bacon bits, and the mac and cheese was very creamy. However, the corn bread was a bit dry, which is a shame, because I thought that the cheese might have saved it with a bit more moisture. Overall, I might come back to try different options -- and probably stay with things with the tri-tip, but avoid the other BBQ meats. read more

After watching it on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, I decided to give it a try. I went during HH and they have a great menu. Started with the guacamole forr $7.00. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned and they gave you a good size bowl for seven dollars. Most restaurants give you a little scoop and charge $10-15.00 which I find hard to believe. One avocado cost about $1.50 and that's about what most restaurants serve. It's a ripoff at most restaurants. Then I got the Gringo Tacos which were excellent. They use sirloin, brisket, and ribeye in the Gringo taco. This is my to go place for tacos. read more

Clutch was a regular for us until they changed their menu. We found the new menu offered more taco options, but cut back on the BBQ and some of the side dishes we really enjoyed. But the biggest issue we had was with the hard shell taco. Delicious in and of itself, at least every other visit whomever served the taco would put the taco meat in with so much oily fat run-off it would seep through the taco and leave a puddle on the plate. Maybe some people enjoy their tacos that way? But we prefer it when the oil doesn't melt through the shell. We've decided there is sort of an indifference at times, making it harder for us to commit to a dinner. Hope they get back on their A-game soon because the food can be very good. read more

I love Crutch for their great happy hour and the fact that they serve full bar in the morning, which can be hard to find around here. We love their breakfast items + shrimp tacos, shrimp burritos, and perfect Michelada. Their margarita is decent. Everyone here is so nice, and I really want to give them five stars, but I just can't because of their barbecue. The pulled pork is dry, the ribs are very dry, Tri Tip is missing something and the collard greens weren't what I expected - dry and crispy (like you will cook brussels sprouts). I was hoping for good Southern-style greens. Wings are ok. I'll stick to the drinks and Mexican dishes here. They are 5 stars. For barbecue, I'd give 2.5 stars unfortunately. We ordered through DoorDash today - the Best Dressed Chicken and the Baby Back Ribs. The description for the chicken was weird. It said it came with salad and a biscuit but you are required to order two small sides, of which biscuit is one of the options. I checked no sides because I didn't want to double up on what it comes with. It didn't come with anything! The chicken was tasty though. The ribs were very dry, a little overcooked and flavorful too tho. We did get a biscuit with the rib order and that was quite tasty. We will definitely give this place another try. read more

They deep fry the ribs. They may have been smoked originally, but the server told me that to reheat them, they drop fry them. The result is tough, dry meat that won't separate from the bone. Avoid! Other things I've had there are great (esp the tacos and margs) but don't bother with the ribs. read more

My sister seen this place and wanted to try it; so why not come for her birthday?? It was six of us and one of them was my four year old son. He loved the chips, French fries and ofc the Mexican water. I have to say that the service here is beyond wonderful!!! I love how the guy was so patient and sweet I went to asked a question about the menu and he told me not to worried he could take my order. (; everything he recommended was so delicious. I love the tacos there; the shrimp taco for my taste was a little spicy but it was still so good. The guy who brings out the food was so sweet and great as well. Clutch is a great place to grab a bite to eat on Lincoln and watch a game! Their tacos and drinks are delicious, they are reasonably priced, and it makes for the perfect place to come with friends any night of the week. Food - I've tried a few of their tacos, but the one I keep coming back for is the fish taco. The batter is delicious, fish cooked perfectly, and it's topped with a well balanced slaw. I will always order the fish taco when I come! I do love that they sell all tacos individually so you can mix and match. Drinks - they have beer options and a full bar, but I typically get the classic margarita. It's a very good marg and they do NOT skimp you on the tequila! Service - the staff is so kind and attentive. You can expect to get your food served right away, the tacos come out within minutes so it really is a quick bite type of place. Clutch is a nice little spot right of Lincoln plenty of parking and a ton of seating for a lot of people. The menu at clutch is really big and can pull your attention in a bunch of different ways and its very diverse. The service was really good and they were patient with us making our descions and anything extra we need they brought to us. The Tri Tip sandwich is the main reason this place is getting 5 stars this sandwich was the best thing I've eaten all week the amount of flavor that came out of this sandwich is unreal meat cooked perfectly bread nice and warm good sauce a 10 out of 10 sandwich. The Lemondae was good could have been a bit sweeter for me a little to sour. The sweet potato fries were great super awesome good seasoning and texture and you get a decent amount. The good: I only came because I wanted to kill time as I waited for the ice cream shop nearby to open. It was a great find because I was hungrier than I realized and enjoyed this spur of the moment lunch meal! One might even call it clutch. I tried a fried chicken sandwich with French fries and ceviche. I loved the music playlist here. They played songs from bands like The Cure, The Smiths, etc. The ceviche tasted fresh and came with crunchy chips. The fish ceviche wasn't too salty nor sour. The bad: I don't think they had a baby changing table (unless I missed it). The chicken sandwich could be used more flavor or textures. I would've liked something sour or crunchy like a pickled vegetable. The interesting: They have an outdoor space in the front but also the back (they are separate). I signed my check and added tip before my meal was over. I think maybe the server did this because she sensed I was in a semi-rush because I had a toddler and a 2 month old with me. Coming home from points north, we decided to take scenic Highway 1. Dinner time came just south of Malibu and we started looking for a good place to eat. We spotted Clutch and thought it looked interesting... As it happened, it was Taco Tuesday. We decided to go with the flow and ordered the Taco special- a House Margarita and fish tacos. The staff was super friendly! The margaritas were delicious. And the tacos we very tasty. The vibe is casual and seems to have a lot of local traffic. I've passed this spot about 5000 times and for some reason never stopped in to try it. I've been missing out on some tasty food! This place has a split menu with American BBQ and Mexican dishes. The smoker was blowing out some amazing smells from the back so I decided to roll with a little BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was a step above what you get at most joints and had a delicious slaw, pickles and mayo on it. Roll was buttered and grilled perfectly. It really was delicious. Tots on the side were standard deep-fried fare. They came with a spicy mayo to dip in which was pretty good as well. No complaints but nothing to write home about regarding the tots. Overall my first visit here was solid. I'm downing a point because the atmosphere is a little weird right on Lincoln and only a few items on the menu really jumped out at me. Not bad! read more

Clutch is an extremely accessible Mexican/Santa Maria BBQ spot. The BBQ can be a little hit or miss (mainly the former), and when it hits it is extremely good. Go for the BBQ platter and 'make it Mexican' to get a build your own taco set with fantastic sides, great salsas and dips, and house made tortillas. Shout out to whoever is smoking the wings, these are probably the best smoked wings you can get in LA. read more

It was a chilly fall night for LA and the Hangover Soup caught my eye. This is really good soup!!!!! Fish, a generous portion of shrimp, vegetables, and rice on the side. It was filling and delicious. Also comes with side of your choice of flour or corn tortillas - corn would've made more sense to put in the soup but I actually enjoyed dipping the flour tortillas in as well. Took a bit of time for the food to come out - my friends who ordered tacos/burritos were served probably 10-15 min before me, but once it was out it was worth the wait. The watermelon margarita was also the best I've had, and it was also a generous portion. I loved sitting outside on one of their TWO patios (a feat for an LA restaurant) and they also had a parking lot (!!!!!) and indoor seating/restrooms available. It was pretty quiet for a Friday night, so we didn't have to wait long. A little pricey (my meal was around $40) but servers were friendly and the meal was good. Luckily they have loaded fries aka taters and tots as a side. I was able to customize their Loaded Taters, $13 for tots and add smoked pork for $3. The loaded taters are pretty large and filling, so it can serve as an entree or a shared appetizer. I also tried their jalapeño and cheddar biscuits, which I should have passed on. They weren't necessarily biscuits, but more like scones that tasted a wee bit freezer burned. Clutch has the perfect blend of BBQ and Mexican food with a cute old school gas station vibe. No indoor seating now, but there is plenty of outdoor patio seating and a backyard seating situation in the parking lot with wide screen TVs. read more

I've been coming here to Oscar's third incarnation for awhile. And yes, there are a couple kind of other famous BBQ places close by. But the atmosphere, along with the creative, delicious items they have on the menu, make for a unique dining experience along one of the busiest corridors in Los Angeles. It feels like it was designed for locals; the parking lot is small, there is nothing flashy or touristy about the space. But that doesn't matter; I love the vibe. read more

First time here with a friend. Nice atmosphere in the outdoor spaces they have created. Its order, pay, sit, and they bring the food. It's irksome that these covid adapted places want us to pay the tip in advance. What if the service is horribly slow? You tipped already. No recourse. In this case the food came out in a fairly decent amount of time. "Just ok" portions. Everything was dry rubbed with spices which made the meat a little dry, except pulled pork which is smothered in grilled onions and sauce. The burger comes with a choice of salad or tater tots but not the sampler platter. ‍ A server came out to ask if we wanted more drinks .... and we could pay right there... why not a server for the whole thing? So many places do this. It makes me wonder if there are a lot of "dine and dash" guests. Who knows. read more

I got the nachos and TORE THEY ASSES UP and I hardly EVER eat ALL of my food. My sister and best friend ended up getting burritos and said that too was good but these nachos....MAN. I can go on ALL day. If you don't know what to get, just ask - but again, you can't go wrong. The green chile pork nachos were the SHIIIT! Don't even get me started on the customer service. It was cold this past weekend and not being able to dine in these Cali dining establishments sucks for everyone but Clutch is out here trying to bring the inside to you outside. They seated us at a cute little spot in their back area! Although construction is going on pretty close to the facility, DO NOT let that stop you from sitting your cute ass down and ordering from this god send of a food establishment. You place your order at the window, find your ideal spot then the rest is just an experience. From bringing the food, checking to see if you need anything else, to even picking up your trash to help clear the table. They even pulled an additional heater out for us because we were cold. My heart, tummy and soul were warmed by Clutch and I can not WAIT to return. COVID and all, I felt safe, cared for and APPRECIATED as a customer.
