After watching it on The Best Thing I Ever Ate, I decided to give it a try. I went during HH and they have a great menu. Started with the guacamole forr $7.00. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned and they gave you a good size bowl for seven dollars. Most restaurants give you a little scoop and charge $10-15.00 which I find hard to believe. One avocado cost about $1.50 and that's about what most restaurants serve. It's a ripoff at most restaurants. Then I got the Gringo Tacos which were excellent. They use sirloin, brisket, and ribeye in the Gringo taco. This is my to go place for tacos. read more

I was really interested to try this spot, as I've passed by it quite a few times. We ordered the BBQ platter, so we could try a bunch of different BBQ meats and sides. Everything came out very burnt and crispy. I suspect that is their style of BBQ. It worked for some things and less so for others... My favorite was the tri-tip. It worked well with the char on the outside but the meat still retained its tenderness. It was very flavorful. Some of the wings were good -- crispy on the outside, but other wings were too dry. Same with the ribs. I was initially excited for this, but as I continued eating, found that some of the ribs had really dried out. I thought that the collards worked well with the super charred bacon bits, and the mac and cheese was very creamy. However, the corn bread was a bit dry, which is a shame, because I thought that the cheese might have saved it with a bit more moisture. Overall, I might come back to try different options -- and probably stay with things with the tri-tip, but avoid the other BBQ meats. read more

Clutch was a regular for us until they changed their menu. We found the new menu offered more taco options, but cut back on the BBQ and some of the side dishes we really enjoyed. But the biggest issue we had was with the hard shell taco. Delicious in and of itself, at least every other visit whomever served the taco would put the taco meat in with so much oily fat run-off it would seep through the taco and leave a puddle on the plate. Maybe some people enjoy their tacos that way? But we prefer it when the oil doesn't melt through the shell. We've decided there is sort of an indifference at times, making it harder for us to commit to a dinner. Hope they get back on their A-game soon because the food can be very good. read more

We ordered through DoorDash today - the Best Dressed Chicken and the Baby Back Ribs. The description for the chicken was weird. It said it came with salad and a biscuit but you are required to order two small sides, of which biscuit is one of the options. I checked no sides because I didn't want to double up on what it comes with. It didn't come with anything! The chicken was tasty though. The ribs were very dry, a little overcooked and flavorful too tho. We did get a biscuit with the rib order and that was quite tasty. We will definitely give this place another try. read more

I love Crutch for their great happy hour and the fact that they serve full bar in the morning, which can be hard to find around here. We love their breakfast items + shrimp tacos, shrimp burritos, and perfect Michelada. Their margarita is decent. Everyone here is so nice, and I really want to give them five stars, but I just can't because of their barbecue. The pulled pork is dry, the ribs are very dry, Tri Tip is missing something and the collard greens weren't what I expected - dry and crispy (like you will cook brussels sprouts). I was hoping for good Southern-style greens. Wings are ok. I'll stick to the drinks and Mexican dishes here. They are 5 stars. For barbecue, I'd give 2.5 stars unfortunately. My sister seen this place and wanted to try it; so why not come for her birthday?? It was six of us and one of them was my four year old son. He loved the chips, French fries and ofc the Mexican water. I have to say that the service here is beyond wonderful!!! I love how the guy was so patient and sweet I went to asked a question about the menu and he told me not to worried he could take my order. (; everything he recommended was so delicious. The menu at clutch is really big and can pull your attention in a bunch of different ways and its very diverse. It was a great find because I was hungrier than I realized and enjoyed this spur of the moment lunch meal! One might even call it clutch. They played songs from bands like The Cure, The Smiths, etc. The ceviche tasted fresh and came with crunchy chips. The fish ceviche wasn't too salty nor sour. The bad: I don't think they had a baby changing table (unless I missed it). The chicken sandwich could be used more flavor or textures. I would've liked something sour or crunchy like a pickled vegetable. The interesting: They have an outdoor space in the front but also the back (they are separate). I've passed this spot about 5000 times and for some reason never stopped in to try it. I've been missing out on some tasty food! This place has a split menu with American BBQ and Mexican dishes. The smoker was blowing out some amazing smells from the back so I decided to roll with a little BBQ. The pulled pork sandwich was a step above what you get at most joints and had a delicious slaw, pickles and mayo on it. Roll was buttered and grilled perfectly. It really was delicious. Tots on the side were standard deep-fried fare. They came with a spicy mayo to dip in which was pretty good as well. No complaints but nothing to write home about regarding the tots. It was a chilly fall night for LA and the Hangover Soup caught my eye. This is really good soup!!!!! Fish, a generous portion of shrimp, vegetables, and rice on the side. It was filling and delicious. Also comes with side of your choice of flour or corn tortillas - corn would've made more sense to put in the soup but I actually enjoyed dipping the flour tortillas in as well. Took a bit of time for the food to come out - my friends who ordered tacos/burritos were served probably 10-15 min before me, but once it was out it was worth the wait. The watermelon margarita was also the best I've had, and it was also a generous portion. I loved sitting outside on one of their TWO patios (a feat for an LA restaurant) and they also had a parking lot (!!!!!) and indoor seating/restrooms available. It was pretty quiet for a Friday night, so we didn't have to wait long. A little pricey (my meal was around $40) but servers were friendly and the meal was good. The loaded taters are pretty large and filling, so it can serve as an entree or a shared appetizer. I also tried their jalapeño and cheddar biscuits, which I should have passed on. It's irksome that these covid adapted places want us to pay the tip in advance. What if the service is horribly slow? You tipped already. No recourse. In this case the food came out in a fairly decent amount of time. "Just ok" portions. Everything was dry rubbed with spices which made the meat a little dry, except pulled pork which is smothered in grilled onions and sauce. The burger comes with a choice of salad or tater tots but not the sampler platter. ‍ A server came out to ask if we wanted more drinks .... and we could pay right there... why not a server for the whole thing? Although construction is going on pretty close to the facility, DO NOT let that stop you from sitting your cute ass down and ordering from this god send of a food establishment. You place your order at the window, find your ideal spot then the rest is just an experience. From bringing the food, checking to see if you need anything else, to even picking up your trash to help clear the table. They even pulled an additional heater out for us because we were cold. My heart, tummy and soul were warmed by Clutch and I can not WAIT to return. COVID and all, I felt safe, cared for and APPRECIATED as a customer.
